Abstract This dataset originates from TeensLab, a consortium of Spanish Universities dedicated to behavioral research involving Spanish teenagers. The dataset contains data from 33 distinct educational institutions across Spain, accounting for a total of 5,890 students aged 10 to 23 (M = 14.10, SD = 1.94), representing various educational levels such as primary school, secondary school, sixth form and vocational training. The main dimensions covered in this dataset include (i) economic preferences, (ii) cognitive abilities and (iii) strategic thinking. Additionally, a range of supplementary variables is included alongside socio-demographic factors, capturing data on aspects like physical appearance, mood and expectations, among others.

Las alegaciones fiscales forman parte de una de las fuentes inquisitoriales más características del Santo Oficio en el siglo XVIII, documentos que nos ayudan a evidenciar otros ya desaparecidos. A pesar de que el expediente conservado de Josefa Paula, seguida en el Tribunal de la Inquisición de Canarias, se presenta como una de ellas en el catálogo por excelencia de Natividad Moreno (1977), el estudio de sus características formales y ciertos aspectos textuales, como las abreviaturas o la expresión de las datas y las validaciones, nos da cuenta de que pertenece a otro de los grandes grupos documentales que generó la Inquisición: el proceso de fe.

Abstract The low ordering temperature of most non-collinear spiral magnets critically limits their implementation in devices. The layered perovskites RBaCuFeO5 are a rare case of frustrated oxide family that has raised great expectations as promising high-temperature spiral magnets and spin-driven multiferroic candidates. Though a non-conventional mechanism of ‘spiral order by disorder’ could account for the extraordinary thermal stability of their presumed spiral order, such order was alleged on the basis of non-conclusive neutron data on powder samples. Thus far, it has not yet received support from single-crystal studies able to lift the ambiguities of powder data. Here, a YBaCuFeO5 crystal has been grown with enough Cu/Fe disorder to stabilize the incommensurate magnetic phase up to T S ≈ 200 K. Utilizing spherical neutron polarimetry and single-crystal neutron diffraction, we unveil the features of its magnetic structures, demonstrating the non-collinear chiral nature of the magnetic domains in the singular incommensurate phase. It is thus finally proved that such phase is spiral in our crystal, and therefore also in those compositions of this perovskite family where T S values well above room temperature have been reported. Yet, this study also illustrates critical features of relevance to the search for high-temperature magnetoelectric response induced by the spiral phase.

ABSTRACT: Indirect assessment of metabolic status using milk samples provides a noninvasive and objective tool for cow-level health monitoring. Milk fat-to-protein ratio (FPR) has been commonly evaluated as an indirect measure for negative energy balance in confined dairy cows. However, milk component ratios have not been explored for their association with pasture-based cows' metabolic status. The objectives of this observational study were to (1) describe milk component ratios from 0 to 45 d postpartum, (2) evaluate the associations between milk component ratios (FPR, fat-to-lactose [FLR], protein-to-lactose [PLR]) and indicators of energy balance (serum BHB concentration at 5–45 d postpartum and BCS change during the transition period), and (3) evaluate the associations between milk component ratios and serum Ca concentration 0 to 4 d postpartum in spring-calving dairy cows from pasture-based commercial farms. Milk component ratios were determined on samples collected before a.m. or p.m. milkings from 548 cows at 0 to 45 d postpartum (n = 970). Serum BHB and Ca determinations were performed in blood samples collected at the time of milk sample collection at 5 to 45 d postpartum (n = 918) and 0 to 4 d postpartum (n = 50), respectively; and BCS change was calculated using BCS assigned between 29 d prepartum and 45 d postpartum (n = 851). Cows' calving date, parity (first, second and third, or ≥fourth) and breed (Holstein-Friesian or dairy crossbred) information was obtained from the farm records. Data were analyzed by multiple linear regression. Average milk FPR, FLR, and PLR were 0.70, 0.53, and 0.72, respectively. Milk FPR linearly increased whereas milk FLR linearly decreased postpartum both at a rate of 0.004 units per day; milk PLR decreased 0.05 units per day for the first 30 d postpartum and moderately increased afterward. Milk FPR and FLR were 0.71 and 0.52 units lower before a.m. than p.m. milking, respectively; whereas milk PLR was similar before a.m. and p.m. milking. Milk FPR and FLR were 0.07 to 0.10 units higher for second and third compared with first and ≥fourth parity cows. Milk PLR was 0.03 units greater for ≥fourth compared with second and third and first parity cows. Further, crossbred cows had 0.07, 0.08 and 0.03 higher milk FPR, FLR, and PLR than Holstein-Friesian cows, respectively. Moderate to high P-values along with moderate to small estimated slopes and wide 95% confidence intervals were observed for the associations between milk component ratios and indicators of energy balance. A positive linear association was observed between milk FPR and serum Ca concentration within 4 d postpartum; milk FPR increased 0.31 units per each mmol/L increase in serum Ca concentration. Cows with low serum Ca concentration within 4 d postpartum had 0.27 units lower milk FPR compared with cows at or above the threshold (2.12 mmol/L), and tended to have 0.15 units lower milk FPR compared with cows at or above the threshold (2.00 mmol/L). In conclusion, further research is needed to reach conclusions on the association between milk component ratios determined before milking and energy balance indicators. The potential of milk FPR for monitoring blood Ca status warrants further investigation in early-lactation pasture-based dairy cows.

The Cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana L.) is renowned for its distinctive appearance and functional properties. Colombia has emerged as the world's leading producer and exporter of Cape gooseberries, with annual export growth of 1.2%, predominantly to countries such as the USA and the Netherlands. Traditionally sold with its calyx intact to minimize water loss and deterioration, recent interest in selling Cape gooseberries without the calyx to reduce volume has raised concerns regarding shelf life. Consequently, research has pivoted toward post-harvest management to extend shelf life. An experiment was conducted to explore various treatments and temperatures (5, 10, and 18 ℃), meticulously monitoring fruit quality over time. Findings underscore that calcium chloride and refrigerated storage at 10 ℃ preserve the quality of the Cape gooseberry fruit for up to 20 days. Moreover, temperature and time exerted a significant influence on fruit quality and physicochemical properties, with interactions impacting conservation methods. The application of calcium chloride as a barrier method yielded optimal preservation outcomes, safeguarding key fruit properties. Conversely, sodium hypochlorite treatment at 18 ℃ accelerated fruit ripening owing to heightened respiratory intensity. This study not only sheds light on effective preservation strategies for Cape gooseberries but also underscores the intricate interplay between environmental factors and post-harvest management techniques. By enhancing our understanding of these dynamics, the study catalyzes advancements in fruit preservation practices, thereby fortifying the agricultural and economic sectors, both domestically and internationally.

IntroductionBacteremia is a life-threatening condition that can progress to sepsis and septic shock, leading to significant mortality in the emergency department (ED). The standard diagnostic method, blood culture, is time-consuming and prone to false positives and false negatives. Although not widely accepted, several clinical and artificial intelligence-based algorithms have been recently developed to predict bacteremia. However, these strategies require further identification of new variables to improve their diagnostic accuracy. This study proposes a novel strategy to predict positive blood cultures by assessing sepsis-induced immunosuppression status through endotoxin tolerance assessment.MethodsOptimal assay conditions have been explored and tested in sepsis-suspected patients meeting the Sepsis-3 criteria. Blood samples were collected at ED admission, and endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS) challenge was performed to evaluate the innate immune response through cytokine profiling.ResultsClinical variables, immune cell population biomarkers, and cytokine levels (tumor necrosis factor [TNFα], IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-10) were measured. Patients with positive blood cultures exhibited significantly lower TNFα production after LPS challenge than did those with negative blood cultures. The study also included a validation cohort to confirm that the response was consistent.DiscussionThe results of this study highlight the innate immune system immunosuppression state as a critical parameter for sepsis diagnosis. Notably, the present study identified a reduction in monocyte populations and specific cytokine profiles as potential predictive markers. This study showed that the LPS challenge can be used to effectively distinguish between patients with bloodstream infection leading to sepsis and those whose blood cultures are negative, providinga rapid and reliable diagnostic tool to predict positive blood cultures. The potential applicability of these findings could enhance clinical practice in terms of the accuracy and promptness of sepsis diagnosis in the ED, improving patient outcomes through timely and appropriate treatment.

Introduction: Our aim was to determine which foetal or neonatal growth curves discriminate the probability of dying of newborns with low birth weight for their gestational age (small for gestational age, SGA) and sex (weight < 10th percentile) and to establish the curves that are presumably most useful for monitoring growth through age 10 years. Material and methods: The analysis included every neonate (15 122) managed in our hospital (2013–2022) and all neonates born preterm before 32 weeks (6913) registered in the SEN1500 database (2019–2022). We considered most useful those curves with the highest likelihood ratio (LR) for dying with or without a history of SGA in each subgroup of gestational ages. Theoretically, the optimal curves for monitoring growth would be those with a higher R2 in the quantile regression formulas for the 50th percentile. Results: The growth curves exhibiting the strongest association between SGA and hospital mortality are the Intergrowth fetal curves and the Fenton neonatal curves in infants born preterm before 32 weeks. However, the optimal curves for premature babies and neonates overall were those of Olsen and Intergrowth. The most useful curves to monitor anthropometric values alone until age 10 years of age are the longitudinal Intergrowth curves followed by the WHO standards, but if a single reference is desired from birth through age 10 years, the best option is the Fenton curves followed by the WHO standards. Conclusions: The Intergrowth reference provides the most discriminating foetal growth curves. In neonatal clinical practice, the optimal references are the Fenton followed by the WHO charts. Resumen: Introducción: Se pretende determinar qué curvas de crecimiento fetal o neonatal discriminan la probabilidad de fallecer de los recién nacidos de bajo peso para su edad gestacional (BPEG) y sexo (peso inferior al percentil 10) y conocer las curvas teóricamente más útiles para seguir el crecimiento hasta los 10 años. Material y método: Se estudian todos los neonatos (15.122) atendidos en nuestro hospital (2013-2022) y todos los prematuros menores de 32 semanas (6.913) incluidos en la base de datos SEN1500 (2019-2022). Las curvas más útiles serán las que tengan un mayor cociente de probabilidad (LHR=likelihood ratio) de fallecer siendo o no BPEG en cada subgrupo de edades gestacionales. Las curvas más indicadas teóricamente en el seguimiento serán las que tengan una mayor R2 en las fórmulas de regresión de las tendencias del percentil 50. Resultados: Las curvas de crecimiento que mejor relacionan BPEG con mortalidad hospitalaria son las fetales de Intergrowth y las neonatales de Fenton en los prematuros menores de 32 semanas. Sin embargo, en todos los prematuros y neonatos en su conjunto, son las de Olsen e Intergrowth. Las curvas más útiles para seguir sólo la evolución antropométrica hasta los 10 años son las longitudinales de Intergrowth más OMS, pero si se desea una curva única desde el nacimiento hasta los 10 años son las de Fenton más OMS. Conclusiones: Las curvas de crecimiento fetal más discriminante son las de Intergrowth fetales. En la práctica clínica del neonatólogo, las curvas más indicadas son las de Fenton más OMS.

Este artículo muestra un comparativo en la Administración del capital humano en dos organizaciones el Sistema de Agua Potable y Saneamiento (SAS), órgano desconcentrado del Municipio del Centro del estado de Tabasco y el Corporativo de Circle K. El objetivo del artículo fue analizar de forma comparativa los procesos de la administración de los recursos humanos de ambas organizaciones a través de una metodología de tipo cualitativo. La técnica de recolección de datos utilizada consistió en entrevistas semiestructuradas a los gerentes de ambas organizaciones, cuya transcripción se realizó con el software Atlas.ti 9, mediante el uso de categorías y la generación de citas y códigos. Los resultados indican que la administración de recursos humanos es esencial tanto en el SAS y como en Circle K, debido a que a través de ella existe eficiencia operativa, se retiene el talento y se cumplen las normas concluyendo que en ambas organizaciones se desarrollan empleados con resiliencia.

The development of autonomous ground vehicles is a topic widely discussed by the international scientific community. Path planning for these robots is an essential element to achieving a satisfactory fulfillment of missions without human intervention. This work adopts and improves the metaheuristic optimization methods harmony search and ant colony optimization, developing strategies based on the enhanced harmony search and improved ant colony optimization to achieve short, collision-free paths for robot movement. A description of the original methods and improvement procedures is presented, and their performance in path planning is compared through simulation. Theoretical results are supported by simulated experiments, which highlight the situations in which each metaheuristic algorithm is preferable and the benefits they bring to the path planning strategy.

Este artículo realiza una aproximación a la obra de Byung-Chul Han desde el punto de vista comunicativo. El filósofo denuncia cómo los publicistas y las organizaciones, a través del suministro de información abundante y continua, se han apropiado de la esfera pública al enfatizar excesivamente el storytelling. Han reivindica el materialismo, condena la inflación del relato y sugiere la necesidad de una ecología de mensajes para hacer la esfera pública menos distractora y más sostenible. El artículo expone que Han abre nuevos caminos para el desarrollo del campo de la comunicación empresarial y las relaciones públicas al sugerir un concepto de RSC novedoso que implica la restricción en la emisión de mensajes.
