Grounded in self-determination theory, this study examined gender latent mean differences in students’ perceptions of externally and internally controlling teaching behaviors, basic psychological need frustration, controlled motivation, amotivation, and oppositional defiance in the physical education context. Moreover, it analyzed the differentiated role that internal and external controlling behaviors play on these self-determination theory-related variables among girls and boys. Method: A sample of 1,118 students (Mage = 14.11 ± 1.50; 50.9% girls) participated in this research. A multigroup structural equation modeling approach was used to respond to the research questions. Results: Analyses revealed that girls reported more maladaptive outcomes in most self-determination theory-related variables than boys. Although externally and internally controlling behaviors of physical education teachers were positively related to maladaptive outcomes, the behaviors correlate differently between boys and girls. Conclusion: Findings highlight the importance of reducing externally controlling behaviors in boys and internally controlling behaviors in both genders, but particularly in girls.

Resumen del póster presentado a la 37th International Conference on Animal Genetics (ISAG), celebrada en Lleida (España) del 7 al 12 de julio de 2019., The Spanish ibex (Capra pyrenaica) is a wild goat species distributed in the Iberian Peninsula. Based on phenotypic criteria, 4 subspecies have been defined: C. p. hispanica (CPH, south and east of the Iberian Peninsula), C. p. victoriae (CPV, center and northwest of the Iberian Peninsula), C. p. lusitanica (CPL, Galicia and north of Portugal) and C. p. pyrenaica (CPP, Pyrenees mountains). Hunting, epidemics and habitat loss caused the extinction of CPL (disappeared in the 19th century) and CPP (extinct in the year 2000) as well as severe population bottlenecks decreasing the diversity of CPV and CPH. By using a high throughput genotyping approach, we have demonstrated that interspecific hybridization with domestic goats has been an important source of novel variability for Spanish ibexes living in Tortosa-Beceite. Individual sequencing of one of the last CPP representatives ( × 16.6 coverage) and Pool-sequencing ( × 39 coverage) of 30 CPH and 23 CPV individuals revealed an extensive sharing of SNPs (96%) between the CPP individual and the extant CPV and CPH subspecies, thus suggesting that the extinction of CPP did not cause a major loss of diversity in Capra pyrenaica. Sequencing experiments also revealed that the genome of one of the last CPP representatives contains stop-gained mutations, with heterozygous genotypes, in the WASF2, RBM17 and SERPINB10 genes. The inactivation of WASF2 and RBM17 causes embryonic lethality, while SERPINB10 belongs to a family of serin proteases with key roles in immunity and other biological processes. Our results suggest that the dramatic reduction of the CPP population during the19th-20th centuries led to the progressive accumulation of mutations with harmful effects (genomic meltdown) that probably contributed to its extinction by limiting fitness and reproductive success.

La sostenibilidad en el ámbito educativo surge como una opción de construcción de respuestas, de soluciones orientadas (Wiek, Withycombe y Redman, 2011), desde una ética planetaria. Es un desafío para el pensamiento humano y, para nosotros como formadores de profesores de ciencias, también conlleva un reto afrontar una educación para la Sostenibilidad. Ello implica promover que los docentes reconozcan el aula como sistema complejo, sistema que se caracteriza principalmente por la interacción entre las partes que lo componen. En este contexto, un aspecto fundamental en los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje es la reflexión sobre la forma de poner en juego la evaluación, pues la evaluación influye en el todo y el todo en la evaluación. Desde esta perspectiva, dicho sistema de evaluación debe configurarse a través del diálogo con un marco de valores coherente con la ética planetaria y la sostenibilidad; cuestión que modifica tanto su estructura como su función. En este escrito presentamos un análisis teórico-reflexivo sobre las implicaciones que tendría la configuración de dicho sistema de evaluación en el aula de formación de docentes en ciencias., Sustainability in the field of education emerges as an option for construction of responses and oriented solutions (Wiek, Withycombe y Redman, 2011), from a planetary ethic. Is a challenge for the human thinking and, for us as trainers of science teachers, also involves a challenge facing education for sustainability. This implies encourage teachers to see the classroom as a complex system, which is mainly characterized by the interaction between the parts which compose it. In this context, a key issue in teaching and learning processes is the reflection on how to stake the assessment, because the assessment influence the whole and the whole influence the assessment. From this view, the assessment system must be configured through the dialogue with the values framework in coherence with planetary ethic and sustainability; aspect that modifies not only tits structure but also its function. In this paper we present a thoughtful theoretical analysis on the implication of the configuration of that assessment system on the classroom of science teachers.

Current knowledge of the evolution of the postcranial skeleton in the genus Homo is hampered by a geographically and chronologically scattered fossil record. Here we present a complete characterization of the postcranium of the middle Pleistocene paleodeme from the Sima de los Huesos (SH) and its paleobiological implications. The SH hominins show the following: (i) wide bodies, a plesiomorphic char- acter in the genus Homo inherited from their early hominin ancestors; (ii) statures that can be found in modern human middle-latitude pop- ulations that first appeared 1.6–1.5 Mya; and (iii) large femoral heads in some individuals, a trait that first appeared during the middle Pleistocene in Africa and Europe. The intrapopulational size variation in SH shows that the level of dimorphism was similar to modern humans (MH), but the SH hominins were less encephalized than Ne- andertals. SH shares many postcranial anatomical features with Ne- andertals. Although most of these features appear to be either plesiomorphic retentions or are of uncertain phylogenetic polarity, a few represent Neandertal apomorphies. Nevertheless, the full suite of Neandertal-derived features is not yet present in the SH popula- tion. The postcranial evidence is consistent with the hypothesis based on the cranial morphology that the SH hominins are a sister group to the later Neandertals. Comparison of the SH postcranial skeleton to other hominins suggests that the evolution of the postcranium oc- curred in a mosaic mode, both at a general and at a detailed level.

The alpine pastures of the Pyrenees have been used as summer ranges for centuries and continue to be an important forage resource for livestock husbandry to this day. Some studies attribute high nutritional values to alpine pastures, but recent surveys have revealed weight-loss in animals summering in Pyrenean pastures. There is virtually no information available with regard to the nutritional value of the species which constitute Pyrenean summer pastures. Twenty-three of the most common species were analysed chemically to determine their nutritional value and their capacity to meet livestock requirements. Monthly samplings of uneaten plants were performed from June to September in plots where species were abundant. These samples were analysed to determine neutral detergent fiber (NDF), lignin (ADL), crude protein (CP), P, K and Mg content. In vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) was calculated using the pepsin-cellulase method and metabolizable energy (ME) was estimated from it. On average, graminoids presented higher levels of NDF and lower levels of the other nutrients when compared with forbs. Month effect was significant for ADL, CP, P and K. In these cases June was the month which differed significantly from other months. Crude protein, P and K contents diminished with maturity, whereas ADL and Ca levels increased. NDF, IVDMD and Mg values remained fairly constant throughout the summer in both botanical groups. This fact is noteworthy because it may provide a constant supply of ME for herbivores during the grazing period (July to September). Dicotyledoneous forbs meet livestock requirements of all the nutrients analysed except P during the grazing period. Graminoids are deficient in ME (mainly for sheep), P and Mg, and their CP content is slightly low for the requirements of sheep. When cattle and sheep diets are based mainly on graminoids, they could suffer a nutritional deficit in alpine Pyrenean pastures, Los pastos alpinos pirenaicos han sido utilizados durante siglos como estivaderos para el ganado y constituyen aun hoy un importante recurso para la ganadería. Algunos trabajos clásicos atribuyen a los pastos alpinos un alto valor nutricional, pero estudios recientes han revelado pérdidas de peso en animales que estivan en pastos de puerto pirenaicos. Prácticamente no existe información disponible sobre el valor nutricional de las especies que constituyen estos pastos. Veintitrés especies (13 graminoides y 10 dicotiledóneas) abundantes en los pastos alpinos y subalpinos pirenaicos fueron analizadas químicamente para determinar su valor nutritivo y su capacidad para cubrir las necesidades del ganado. En parcelas donde las especies eran abundantes, se realizaron muestreos mensuales de junio a septiembre en dos áreas de estudio. En el laboratorio se realizaron análisis para determinar el contenido en proteína bruta (CP), fósforo (P), potasio (K) y magnesio (Mg), fibra neutro-detergente (NDF) y lignina (ADL). Se determinó la digestibilidad in vitro de la materia seca (IVDMD) por el método de la pepsina-celulasa y la energía metabolizable (EM) fue estimada a partir de ella. En promedio las graminoides presentaron mayores contenidos en NDF y menores en el resto de nutrientes que las dicotiledóneas. El efecto mes fue solo significativo para ADL, CP, P y K, siendo generalmente el mes de junio el que presentó diferencias significativas con el resto de los meses. El contenido en CP, P y K disminuyó con la madurez, mientras que ADL y Ca aumentaron. Los valores de NDF, IVDMD y Mg se mantuvieron relativamente constantes durante todo el verano en ambos grupos botánicos. Este hecho es destacable porque permite un suministro constante de EM para los herbívoros durante todo el período de pastoreo (Julio a Septiembre). Las dicotiledóneas cubren los requerimientos de vacas y ovejas durante el período de pastoreo de todos los nutrientes analizados excepto en P. Las graminoides son deficitarias en EM, P y Mg, y su contenido en CP es un poco justo para las necesidades de las ovejas. Debido a que el régimen alimentario de vacas y ovejas está basado principalmente en las graminoides, los animales podrían estar experimentando un déficit nutricional cuando pastan en los pastos de puerto pirenaicos.

Las heridas ocupan un porcentaje elevado en las demandas de los servicios de urgencias, tanto hospitalario como extrahospitalario. Son lesiones producidas por el efecto de un agente externo que actúa de manera brusca sobre una parte de nuestro organismo, provocando una rotura de la superficie cutánea o mucosa, una discontinuidad en el epitelio que lo reviste. En este artículo queremos abordar la importancia que tiene una valoración inicial de la herida de forma integral, el mecanismo causal que la provocó, así como el tiempo que ha transcurrido desde que se ha producido, factores todos ellos de gran importancia; así como poderla clasificar de forma adecuada para, posteriormente, iniciar los cuidados correctos en función de las características de cada paciente y de la propia herida. Muchos son los elementos que cobran importancia en el proceso de cicatrización de la propia herida, además de una serie de factores que van a hacer que este proceso de reparación se vea mermado por múltiples razones. Wounds occupy a high percentage in the demands of the emergency service, both inpatient and outpatient, are lesions caused by the effect of an external agent acting abruptly over a part of our body, causing a skin surface or mucosa breakdown, a discontinuity in the epithelium it takes. In this article we focus on the importance of an initial integral assessment of the wound: causal mechanism that caused it and time that has elapsed since the occurrence, as both are of great importance. Also, to properly classify the wound, for later initiate correct care according to the characteristics of each patient and the wound itself. Many are the elements become important in the healing process of the wound itself and a series of factors that are going to make this repair process will be reduced through multiple reasons.

Las úlceras en piel propias de las llamadas enfermedades del trópico se consideran como de baja prevalencia en nuestras sociedades desarrolladas. Pero la úlcera tropical o fagedénica, aquella propia de la lepra o las que se manifiestan en diferentes parasitosis, cada vez nos llaman más la atención; en parte, por la teórica influencia de la inmigración en nuestra civilización y el miedo a la enfermedad de afuera que lleva implícita, en parte por el turismo aventurero que muchas veces las incorpora como recuerdo del viaje a tierras lejanas. La realidad es que este tipo de lesiones merece, tanto por su gravedad como por su impacto en nuestra cultura, de los cuidados que hasta el día de hoy las veía como algo lejano y ajeno, un interés concreto que las defina, concretice y clasifique. En cuanto al comportamiento de la cura en ambiente húmedo de estas úlceras, poco sabemos por propia experiencia y aún menos en su uso como parte del tratamiento en países de esta zona del mundo, donde una pobreza extensiva condiciona la disponibilidad de recursos para el cuidado. Pero ponerse en sobre aviso con la información suficiente, nos permitirá casi siempre identificar precozmente estas lesiones y, de la misma forma, encauzar el tratamiento local más efectivo. But to put in on notice with the sufficient information, itwill allow us always to identify almost prematurely, these injuries and of the same form to channel the most effective local treatment.

En la actualidad y en nuestro medio, las quemaduras domésticas son una de las lesiones más habituales, y en las que mejor podemos iniciar un programa de prevención progresivo. Las más comunes son las escaldaduras -debido al contacto accidental con líquidos o gases calientes- y las producidas por la acción directa de las llamas. Las consecuencias van desde el dolor, la deshidratación, las secuelas físicas con repercusiones psíquicas hasta, en ocasiones, la muerte. Ante un paciente con quemaduras es prioritario y esencial llevar a cabo una minuciosa y adecuada valoración inicial que incluya: grado de la lesión (profundidad), extensión (porcentaje de superficie corporal total quemada), zona anatómica afectada y estado general del paciente (edad, estado inmunológico, nutricional, respiratorio, circulatorio, etc.), para así poder planificar los cuidados adecuados. En el presente trabajo describimos el caso de una mujer de 62 años que sufre quemaduras de primer grado y segundo grado superficial y profundo en cuello, ambas mamas y abdomen mientras manipulaba una olla a presión, con una extensión de un 6% de SCTA (Superficie Corporal Total Afectada). Se expone todo el proceso de valoración de la paciente y su correspondiente plan de cuidados, detallando los distintos tratamientos locales en función de la evolución de las lesiones, así como las medidas preventivas para minimizar las posibles complicaciones físicas y psíquicas derivadas de la aparición de cicatrices hipertróficas. Actually, in our environment, domestic burns are one of the more frequent lesions, and we can start a progressive prevention program in a better way on these ones. The more common of them are scalds -due to an accidental contact with hot liquids or gas- and those ones produced because of the direct action of flames. The consequences go from pain, dehydration, physical sequels with psychical repercussions to, sometimes, death. In the presence of a patient with burns is essential and a priority to perform a comprehensive and appropriate first assessment that includes: degree of lesion (depth), extension (percentage of total burned body surface), anatomical area affected and the patient general condition (age, immunological, nutritional, respiratory and circulatory status, etc.), in order to plan the appropriate care. In the present work, we describe the case of a 62-years-old woman who suffered first degree and second degree burns, superficial and deep, in neck, breast and abdomen when she was handling a pressure cooker, with an extension of 6% BBS (Burned Body Surface). Here we expose all the assessment process of the patient and the corresponding care plan, giving details of the different local treatments depending on the evolution of lesions, just as the prevention measures for minimizing the potential psychical and physical complications stemmed from the arising of hypertrophic scars.

The feeding pattern of red deer varies greatly among the different European populations. The aim of our study was to elucidate the plant composition and the quality of the red deer diet in the Pyrenees (Northern Iberian peninsula). Over a one–year period, the red deer fed mainly on browse, pines being the main food. However, unlike other populations on the Iberian peninsula, consumption of herbaceous plants was higher than browse in the spring–summer period. Nevertheless, the diet of Pyrenean red deer shared some features with the Mediterranean populations such as browsing on woody legumes. Fecal nitrogen content, as an index of diet quality, showed low annual values with a marked decrease in winter. The overall feeding pattern was similar to that of other Central European populations. The large size of the surveyed population probably affected its high level of browse consumption and poor quality diet., El patrón de alimentación del ciervo es muy variable entre las diferentes poblaciones europeas. El objetivo de nuestro estudio fue determinar la composición vegetal y la calidad de la dieta del ciervo en los Pirineos (norte de la península Ibérica). Durante un periodo de un año, el ciervo se alimentó principalmente de plantas leñosas, siendo los pinos su principal alimento. Sin embargo a diferencia de otras poblaciones de la península Ibérica, el consumo de plantas herbáceas fue superior al de leñosas en primavera y verano. No obstante, la dieta del ciervo del Pirineo comparte algunas características con la de las poblaciones mediterráneas, como el consumo de plantas leguminosas leñosas. El contenido en nitrógeno fecal, como índice de calidad de la dieta, presenta valores anuales bajos con una marcada disminución en invierno. El patrón de alimentación global fue similar al de otras poblaciones centroeuropeas. El gran tamaño de la población estudiada influye probablemente en el alto nivel de consumo de leñosas y la baja calidad de su dieta.

Ponencia presentada a las XII Jornadas de Producción Animal AIDA 2007, Sección 3: Nutrición y alimentación (mayo 2007). Publicada en un número especial de la revista ITEA., En la última década se ha intensificado la investigación sobre el posible uso de plantas medicinales y sus derivados como aditivos alternativos a los antibióticos, para mejorar la eficiencia digestiva de los alimentos, así como el bienestar y el rendimiento productivo de los animales (Greathead, 2003). Este ha sido un tema de investigación prioritario en los últimos programas marco de I+D de la Unión Europea (UE). En este contexto, el proyecto de investigación Rumen-Up, financiado por la UE, tenía como principal objetivo el descubrimiento de especies vegetales o aditivos fitogénicos con los que fuese posible modificar la fermentación ruminal para obtener determinados efectos, tales como la reducción del número de protozoos, la inhibición de la proteolisis o la disminución de la formación de metano. El interés de dichos efectos es indudable por sus beneficios económicos y medioambientales (Teferedegne, 2000)., En una primera fase, la selección de posibles candidatos que pudiesen inducir alguno de los efectos pretendidos se realizó mediante ensayos screening, basados en pruebas in vitro sencillas, selectivas, de fácil interpretación y de bajo coste que tienen una utilidad indiscutible con objeto de probar un amplio número de candidatos en un corto espacio de tiempo (Borris, 1996)., En este artículo se presentan los resultados obtenidos en una prueba de screening en la que se ensayaron 450 especies vegetales como posibles aditivos fitogénicos para reducir la producción de metano en la fermentación ruminal., Proyecto de la Unión Europea QLK5-CT-2001-00992 (Rumen-Up).

La aparición de las diferentes enfermedades, como la encefalopatía en vacuno y ovinos, las peste porcina, la gripe aviar, etc., y las preocupaciones del consumidor por saber qué tipo de productos están consumiendo, han llevado a las Administraciones Públicas y a distintos empresarios a establecer medidas de seguridad más exigentes que aseguren una garantía del origen y salubridad de los productos. Es en ese momento cuando surgen los distintos sistemas de trazabilidad (normativa de la UE 178/2002) que actualmente se conocen, los cuales dan seguridad y beneficios, tanto al consumidor como al empresario: – Identificación de Materia Auxiliar y Materia Prima – Control de stocks – Control de los procesos productivos – Optimización de los mismos – Coordinación y colaboración con los distribuidores – Localización inmediata de los lotes ante un posible problema – Disminución de costes operativos y productivos, etc.

Objetivo: Revisar la incidencia de Neoplasia Intraepitelial Prostática (PIN) y Atípia Glandular Focal (AGF) en primera biopsia, el riesgo de estos pacientes de padecer cáncer en biopsias sucesivas y qué importancia se concede a estos hallazgos analizando con qué frecuencia son rebiopsiados estos pacientes y cuánto tiempo después del hallazgo inicial. Método: Estudio retrospectivo sobre 6.000 pacientes biopsiados entre 1994 y 2002. No se han incluido pacientes con diagnóstico previo de cáncer. De los 6.000 pacientes 861 se han rebiopsiado en alguna ocasión sumando en conjunto 7.127 biopsias. Se ha realizado un estudio descriptivo que incluye los porcentajes y percentiles para variables cualitativas y medidas de tendencia central para las variables cuantitativas continuas. Resultados: La incidencia de cáncer en la primera biopsia fué del 39,1%. Las cifras de PIN o AGF se mantienen estables o aumentan progresivamente desde un 2 y 2,1% respectivamente en la primera biopsia hasta más del 6% en la cuarta y quinta biopsia. La media de tiempo entre biopsias en el caso de encontrar AGF o PIN en el diagnóstico inicial es de 180± 221,6 y 264±213,8 días respectivamente. Sólo el 42 y el 40% de pacientes con diagnóstico inicial de PIN o AGF se rebiopsian, encontrando finalmente un 45 y un 40% de tumores en las posteriores biopsias respectivamente. Conclusión: La presencia de PIN o AGF implica un mayor riesgo de cáncer en biopsias posteriores; a pesar de ello menos de la mitad vuelven a biopsiarse. La realización de dos biopsias posteriores o una biopsia ampliada localiza la mayoría de los tumores asociados. Objective: To review the incidence of PIN and Atypical Small Acinar Proliferation (ASAP) on first biopsy, the risk to find cancer on following biopsies and what is the importance given to this findings, analizing how frequently and how long after the initial finding this patients are rebiopsied. Method: We selected 6000 patients who underwent TRUS biopsy between 1994 and 2002. Patients with prior cancer diagnosis were not included. 861 of them underwent more than one biopsy, adding up to a total of 7127 biopsies. A descriptive study has been done including percentages and percentiles for qualitative variables, mean and median for continuous variables. Results: Incidence of cancer on the first biopsy was 39,1% .PIN and ASAP are stable or slightly increase from 2 and 2,1% respectively on the first biopsy to more than 6% on the fourth and fifth ones. Mean time between biopsies when ASAP or PIN are the initial findings is 180± 221,6 and 264±213,8 days respectively. Just 42 and 40% of patients with prior PIN or ASAP diagnose are rebiopsied. On subsequent biopsies 45 and 40% of cancers were respectively found. Conclusions: Presence of PIN or ASAP implies a higher cancer risk on subsequent biopsies; in spite of that, less than half of them are biopsied again. Performing two more biopsies or an amplified biopsy can find most of the tumors associated.

OBJETIVO: Presentar un caso de recidiva de carcinoma epidermoide de pene a los 21 años de la cirugía. MÉTODO: Se trata de un paciente de 85 años con antecedentes de penectomía parcial por carcinoma epidermoide, que presenta lesión excrecente a nivel de glande de 1 mes de evolución. Se biopsia siendo el resultado carcinoma epidermoide por lo que se realiza penectomía total con uretrostomía cutánea. RESULTADO: El estudio histopatológico de la pieza confirmó un carcinoma epidermoide bien diferenciado. OBJETIVE: We report a recidive of pennis carcinoma after 21 years of surgery. METHODS: This is the case of a male of 85 years old, with parcial penectomy; by epidermoid carcinoma. In phisics exploration, that it displays excrecente lesion at level of glande of 1 month of evolution. Biopsy being the result of epidermoid carcinoma reason why is made. Total penectomy, a with cutaneus uretrostomy. RESULTS: The histopathological study of the piece, confirm a epidermoid carcinoma well differentiated.
