Background: Avian hepatitis E virus (HEV) has caused economic losses in the poultry industry and has shown a broad spectrum of infections. In 2022, a quail farm (YangLing, China) exhibited a decrease in egg production, an increase in mortality and hepatosplenomegaly. These characteristics were similar to those of avian HEV infection. To determine whether avian HEV existed on this farm and further clarify the pathogenicity caused by avian HEV under experimental conditions, the livers and spleens were collected from the diseased quails in the field for gross lesion observation and avian HEV detection; then, the pathogenicity was characterized. Results: In the field, the results showed enlargement of the liver and spleen and hemorrhage spots on the liver, and the amplified fragment (330-bp length) of HEV shared 100% identity with the Chinese avian HEV strain. The pathogenicity of this virus in quail was characterized by decreased egg production, seroconversion, viremia, fecal virus shedding, liver lesions and HEV antigen in the liver under experimental conditions. These differences indicated that there may be other pathogens or factors causing this disease together on the quail farm in addition to avian HEV, and further detection should be performed. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the clinicopathologic features of primary fallopian tubal carcinoma (PFTC) and high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) and explore the prognostic factors of these two malignant tumors. Methods: Fifty-seven patients diagnosed with PFTC from 2006 to 2015 and 60 patients diagnosed with HGSOC from 2014 to 2015 with complete prognostic information were identified at Women's Hospital of Zhejiang University. The clinicopathological and surgical data were collected, and the survival of the patients was followed for 5 years after surgery. The Cox proportional risk model was used to analyze the impact on survival. Results: For PFTC patients, the mean age was 57 years (range, 35–77 years). The most common clinical manifestations were abnormal vaginal bleeding and/or discharge (61%). A total of 72% of the cases were found at the early stage, and 90% of the tumors were high grade (51 cases). 51% of patients were diagnosed with PFTC before surgery, while the rest were misdiagnosed. Twenty-one patients relapsed. The overall survival (OS) rate was 82%. OS was significantly related to FIGO stage, the preoperative serum CA 125 level, lymphadenectomy, residual tumor size, appendectomy, and the number of cycles of chemotherapy. However, only FIGO stage was an independent prognostic variable for OS. For patients with HGSOC, the OS rate was 67%. OS was significantly related to FIGO stage, residual tumor size, and laterality. However, only residual tumor size was an independent prognostic variable for OS. Conclusions: Our study provides important clinicopathologic insights into PFTC and HGSOC. We identified FIGO stage as an independent prognostic factor for PFTC patients and residual tumor size as an independent prognostic factor for HGSOC patients. These findings emphasize the critical role of accurate staging and achieving a residual tumor size of less than 1 cm during surgery. Our research contributes to refining clinical decision-making, supporting the importance of optimal surgical outcomes, and guiding personalized treatment strategies to improve patient prognosis in both PFTC and HGSOC patients. Bacteria and macroalgae share an inseparable relationship, jointly influencing coastal ecosystems. Within macroalgae habitats, Planctomycetota, a group of bacteria notoriously challenging to cultivate, often dominate. However, the mechanisms facilitating their persistence in this environment remain unclear. Here, we successfully isolated a novel Planctomycetota bacterium, Stieleria sp. HD01, from the surface of kelp. We demonstrated that HD01 possesses a robust ability to metabolize fucoidan, which constitutes half of the kelp‐derived organic carbon and exhibits resistance to attack by most microorganisms. Moreover, HD01 can utilize a broad spectrum of other organics, indicating its metabolic versatility and competitive prowess within algal environments. Additionally, HD01 can secrete antagonistic substances against other bacteria, form biofilms, and employ superoxide dismutase and catalase to resist oxidative stress, further consolidating its ecological fitness. The main objective of this research was to determine the physical characteristics of elite and qualified female canoe paddlers in China. Seventeen paddlers, leading athletes of Shandong and Jiangxi provinces, winners, prize winners and participants of the final races of the China Canoe Racing Championship took part (age 21±2; height=167±2 cm; mass 53.5±1.1 kg). The article shows that female canoe paddlers have superior aerobic and anaerobic qualities and have reported maximal oxygen consumptions of around 56.8 ml·kg-1·min-1 and lactate values of around 12.01 mmol·l-1 during laboratory testing. The main purpose of infrared and visible image fusion is to produce a fusion image that incorporates less redundant information while incorporating more complementary information, thereby facilitating subsequent high-level visual tasks. However, obtaining complementary information from different modalities of images is a challenge. Existing fusion methods often consider only relevance and neglect the complementarity of different modalities' features, leading to the loss of some cross-modal complementary information. To enhance complementary information, it is believed that more comprehensive cross-modal interactions should be provided. Therefore, a fusion network for infrared and visible fusion is proposed, which is based on bilateral cross-feature interaction, termed BCMFIFuse. To obtain features in images of different modalities, we devise a two-stream network. During the feature extraction, a cross-modal feature correction block (CMFC) is introduced, which calibrates the current modality features by leveraging feature correlations from different modalities in both spatial and channel dimensions. Then, a feature fusion block (FFB) is employed to effectively integrate cross-modal information. The FFB aims to explore and integrate the most discriminative features from the infrared and visible image, enabling long-range contextual interactions to enhance global cross-modal features. In addition, to extract more comprehensive multi-scale features, we develop a hybrid pyramid dilated convolution block (HPDCB). According to reports, gut microbiota and metabolites regulate the intestinal immune microenvironment. In recent years, an increasing number of studies reported that bile acids (BAs) of intestinal flora origin affect T helper cells and regulatory T cells (Treg cells). Th17 cells play a pro‐inflammatory role and Treg cells usually act in an immunosuppressive role. In this review, we emphatically summarised the influence and corresponding mechanism of different configurations of lithocholic acid (LCA) and deoxycholic acid (DCA) on intestinal Th17 cells, Treg cells and intestinal immune microenvironment. The regulation of BAs receptors G protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1/TGR5) and farnesoid X receptor (FXR) on immune cells and intestinal environment are elaborated. Furthermore, the potential clinical applications above were also concluded in three aspects. The above will help researchers better understand the effects of gut flora on the intestinal immune microenvironment via BAs and contribute to the development of new targeted drugs.
