Abstract

The extrusion of dendrites and gas bubbles can lead to the appearance of dead lithium, which seriously reduces the coulomb efficiency, hindering the rapid development of high‐energy batteries. Therefore, it is very important to study the internal mechanism of the interaction between lithium dendrites and gas bubbles during electrochemical processes. In this paper, we have designed and developed a special in situ observation device for investigating the dendrite behavior. We also modified the phase‐field model to study the growth of lithium dendrites on the electrode with bubbles. The cantilever beam theory was applied to study the interaction between lithium dendrites and gas bubbles. The observed effects comprise the coalescence of gas bubbles, changing of lithium‐ion transport path on graphite electrode surface near the gas bubble, and bending of dendrites in front of the bubble. The local variation in the lithiation speed can be attributed to the insulating properties of the gas bubbles. Phase‐field simulation results of the interaction between dendrites and gas bubbles were consistent with the experimental results. A deeper insight into the gas‐bubble behaviors during dendrite growth with the presented simulation and experiment techniques becomes possible, which could be helpful to choose an appropriate structural design for reducing bubbles and lithium dendrites. 18. Understanding Charge-Transfer and Mass-Transfer Effects on Dendrite Growth and Fast Charging of Li Metal Battery

Abstract

Lithium (Li) metal is facing the challenge of poor cyclic performance and potential safety hazards caused by Li dendrites growth. Herein, the role of charge-transfer and mass-transfer process on dendrite growth and fast charging is illustrated. The effects of charge-transfer coefficient, applied current density, concave-convex structure, and properties of artificial solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on guiding the Li dendrite growth are investigated via an electrochemical multiphysics model. The charge-transfer coefficient is meaningful for regulating the redox rate of electrode surface. Large applied current density and high ion conductivity of artificial SEI influence the distribution of local deposition rate significantly. Different deposition behaviors are found on concave and convex Li metal surfaces. The convex surface is sensitive than concave surface and is easy to generate Li dendrites under the conditions of high applied current density and high ion conductivity. Moreover, the experimental results can well reflect the influence of dendrite growth and dead Li on the capacity. This study not only provides an essential perspective on designing the artificial SEI for resolving the harmful dendrite issues but also boosts the practical applicability of Li metal battery.

19. Data-Driven State of Health Estimation for Lithium-Ion Batteries Based on Universal Feature Selection

Abstract

A simple yet effective health indicator (HI)-based data-driven model forecasting the state of health (SOH) of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and thus enabling their efficient management is developed. Five HIs with high physical significance and predictive power extracted from voltage, current, and temperature profiles are used as model inputs. The generalizability and robustness of the proposed ridge regression–based linear regularization model are assessed using three NASA datasets containing information on the behavior of batteries over a wide range of temperatures and discharge rates. The maximum mean absolute error, maximum root-mean-square error, and maximum mean absolute percentage error of the SOH for the three groups of batteries are determined as 0.7%, 0.86%, and 2.1%, respectively. Thus, the developed model exhibits high accuracy in estimating the SOH of LIBs under multiworking conditions and is sufficiently robust to be applicable to low-quality datasets obtained under other conditions.

22. [Investigation of reproductive organs of male children and juvenile of the Meng and the Han nationality in Chifeng area].

Abstract

Objectives: To investigate the development and the health of reproductive organs of male children and juvenile between the Meng and the Han nationality in the Meng nationality area., Methods: Male juvenile(4-18 years old) of the Meng nationality (n = 2,315) and the Han nationality (n = 2,832) were divided into four age groups. Height, weight, length and perimeter of penis, volume of left and right testis and reproductive organs illness were examined., Results: In 13-18 years group, the developmental speed of reproductive organs was faster in Mongolia male juvenile than that in the Han nationality (P < 0.02). After 13 years old, the developmental speed of reproductive organs of male living in town is faster than that in the country (P < 0.05). Illness of male reproductive organs was common such as hernia, varicocle etc., Conclusions: There was difference of developmental status and the prevalence rate of reproductive organs of male children and juvenile between the Meng and the Han nationality.
