11. Calculation and sensitivity analysis of convective heat transfer coefficient between roadway wall and airflow

Abstract

In order to accurately calculate the convective heat transfer coefficient between the mine roadway air flow and the roadway wall, according to the heat and moisture exchange principle between the roadway air flow and the roadway wall, and considering the actual production conditions of the mine such as the wet roadway wall, the humid air of the roadway air flow and the roughness of the roadway wall, the convective heat transfer coefficient is expressed as the wind temperature, wind speed, moisture rate, roadway size, roadway wall temperature, thermal physical parameters and friction resistance coefficient. Based on the expression of convective heat transfer coefficient, the sensitivity of convective heat transfer coefficient to the three factors of roadway wind speed, roadway radius and roadway friction resistance coefficient is mainly discussed by using sensitivity analysis method. The results show that the sensitivity of the three factors is significantly different, among which the wind speed of the roadway is the most sensitive factor affecting the convective heat transfer coefficient, and the sensitivity of convective heat transfer coefficient to roadway friction resistance coefficient is second, and the sensitivity of convective heat transfer coefficient to the roadway radius is the lowest. When the roadway radius changes within a certain range, the convective heat transfer coefficient is less sensitive to the roadway radius, and its influence on the heat transfer coefficient can be ignored at this time.

23. Using eDNA to survey amphibians: Methods, applications, and challenges.

Abstract

In recent years, environmental DNA (eDNA) has received attention from biologists due to its sensitivity, convenience, labor and material efficiency, and lack of damage to organisms. The extensive application of eDNA has opened avenues for the monitoring and biodiversity assessment of amphibians, which are frequently small and difficult to observe in the field, in areas such as biodiversity survey assessment and detection of specific, rare and threatened, or alien invasive species. However, the accuracy of eDNA can be influenced by factors such as ambient temperature, pH, and false positives or false negatives, which makes eDNA an adjunctive tool rather than a replacement for traditional surveys. This review provides a concise overview of the eDNA method and its workflow, summarizes the differences between applying eDNA for detecting amphibians and other organisms, reviews the research progress in eDNA technology for amphibian monitoring, identifies factors influencing detection efficiency, and discusses the challenges and prospects of eDNA. 38. Electrochemical Aging and Halogen Oxides Formation on Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes and Fe3O4@g-C3N4Coated Conductive Membranes

Abstract

Electrochemical membrane filtration is widely reported to enhance water contaminants’ degradation or rejection via anodic oxidation or cathodic repulsion. Despite their advances, electrochemical membranes or electrocatalysts often suffer from corrosion or passivation, especially under strong electrode potentials or reactions. Moreover, the formation of toxic byproducts, such as chlorinated organic compounds and oxyhalides (e.g., ClO4–) is another major concern. This study investigated the membrane aging processes of two types of conductive membranes, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and ferrite/graphitic carbon nitride hybrids (Fe3O4@g-C3N4) coated on ceramic membranes. Under high current densities (∼20 mA·cm–2) with anodic potentials (∼10 V), MWCNTs and Fe3O4@g-C3N4catalysts underwent evident oxidation as indicated by an increase of the intensity ratio of the Raman spectral bands (ID/IG) and charge transfer resistance (Rct) of two electrochemical membranes. Under variations of electrode potentials, chloride or bromide were shown to be oxidized to bromate (BrO3–) and chlorate (ClO3–) at levels of 1–10 mmol·L–1. The formation of BrO3–and ClO3–was dependent on the solution pH, current densities (1–20 mA·cm–2), and initial concentrations of Br or Cl ions. To warrant a safe and rational design and operation of electrochemically reactive membrane processes, membrane aging and toxic byproduct’s formation deserve careful characterization under relevant water filtration environments.
