An extremely effective photocatalytic complex, PtLCl2 (1), was synthesized with (4-([2,2':6',2''-terpyridin]-4'-yl)phenyl)boronic acid as ligand and further characterized through single crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV-vis spectrum. Multipoint hydrogen bonds and three kinds of π-π stacking interactions are observed in the supramolecular structure of 1. More significantly, the Pt(II) complex exhibits outstanding photocatalytic degradation efficiency (94.76%) for methyl orange within 120 min under visible light irradiation. The kinetic rate constant (k) for 1 (10 mg) is 0.02505 min−1, which is approximately 70 times higher than that of the ligand (0.00036 min−1). Moreover, its photocatalysis mechanism proposed that ·O2− and h+ were the main active species for MO degradation, providing a great prospect for development of a new efficient photocatalytic complex. A large amount of Cr2O72− and glyphosate (GLYP) discharge cause serious water pollution. In this paper, two new MOFs (Zn‐DPIA and Cd‐DPIA) were synthesized, which have excellent selectivity and sensitivity in the detection of Cr2O72− and GLYP. The detection limits (LODs) of Zn‐DPIA sensing Cr2O72− and GLYP were 1.37 and 1.92 μM, respectively, and the LODs of Cd‐DPIA sensing Cr2O72− and GLYP were 1.19 and 1.42 μM, respectively. Cr2O72− and GLYP detection based on Zn‐DPIA and Cd‐DPIA in tap water is highly reliable based on high recovery rates (97% to 106% and 95% to 103%), indicating that Zn‐DPIA and Cd‐DPIA have practical application prospects. Traditional platinum (Pt)‐based drugs have limited use in cancer treatment because of their toxicity, which generates the need for new Pt complexes with effective anticancer activity. Two potent prospective anticancer small molecule drug complexes, PtLCl (1) and PdLCl (2) (L:4‐[2,2′:6′,2′‐terpyridin‐4′‐yl]phenol), were synthesized via a low‐temperature solvothermal method. The structures of the complexes are characterized by a four‐coordinated rhombus plane, according to single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction studies. The complexes 1 and 2 were further characterized using several techniques including powder X‐ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. Cytotoxicity was assessed using flow cytometry and morphological observations of HeLa cells. The findings demonstrate that both complexes were highly effective at inducing cell death, and the tumor inhibition rate of 1 was greater than that of 2, with total tumor inhibition of 92.3% and 72.3%, respectively, after 24 h. In addition, fluorescence and UV–vis spectroscopy showed that these complexes interacted with DNA through the embedding methods. The four‐coordinated planar structure and π–π stacking could prevent DNA transfer and replication, which has the potential for more effective cancer cell eradication through intercalation. A novel three-dimensional skeleton material, [Cu2(H4L)(H2O)2]n (H4L = 2,1′,5,5′-diphenyl ether tetracarboxylic acid ligand), was designed as a four-connected unimodal network topology with a rigid structure. As an efficient and sensitive dual-function sensor for glyphosate (GLYP) and Cr2O72−, the Cu-MOF can not only visually monitor analytes with naked eyes but also has high quenching constant and a low limit of detection. It is worth noting that the sensor exhibits excellent water stability and structural integrity under extremely acidic and alkaline conditions. Furthermore, the sensor also has an exciting application prospect in long-term reusability. Moreover, the mechanism of fluorescence quenching is also discussed. In addition, the sensor has satisfactory recovery accuracy for trace detection in water or food samples and can resist the interference of analogs.
