The idea of this paper was developed in our minds by seeing a lot of things which could be transformed, to create friendly objects for the people. To create and build a sensory design means to have a lot of inventiveness, to learn about the psychological and physiological challenges. It is about the senses of human being to communicate with others and, of course, with the environmental world. We have agreed that the most important things are touch and sight. In this paper we have developed a few objects which are in accordance with the term of sensory design. We have learned interesting information about sensory design from other authors and we have presented a few of their creations.

This paper has tried to explain the importance of the general and special principles in logo design. The study was realized on a lot of logos to understand when a designer could use the principles to create wonderful graphic representations. It is about symmetry, asymmetry, proportion, rhythm and harmony, substitution, juxtaposition, using different geometric shapes, lines, curves, silhouettes and stylizations, mirror and illustrative representation and so on. We have explained how to use graphic representations in some fields of activity and to choose the best symbol for a company/university etc. And, of course, it was a significant part about the redesign working. This paper presents a few interpretations and conclusions concerning the design principles applied for logos.

And the answer is YES and will be explained in this paper. These graphic representations can be found in universities and schools, hospitals, airports, museums, libraries, network communication, business centres etc. But why are they so important? Because they inform, guide, allow, prohibit or warn depending on the situation. In our actual world visual communication without written language has become necessary. The main direction of the study was to present/design signage maps, as training models using signs, symbols, colours and pictograms.

BackgroundGenome-wide association studies conducted on QRS duration, an electrocardiographic measurement associated with heart failure and sudden cardiac death, have led to novel biological insights into cardiac function. However, the variants identified fall predominantly in non-coding regions and their underlying mechanisms remain unclear.ResultsHere, we identify putative functional coding variation associated with changes in the QRS interval duration by combining Illumina HumanExome BeadChip genotype data from 77,898 participants of European ancestry and 7695 of African descent in our discovery cohort, followed by replication in 111,874 individuals of European ancestry from the UK Biobank and deCODE cohorts. We identify ten novel loci, seven within coding regions, including ADAMTS6, significantly associated with QRS duration in gene-based analyses. ADAMTS6 encodes a secreted metalloprotease of currently unknown function. In vitro validation analysis shows that the QRS-associated variants lead to impaired ADAMTS6 secretion and loss-of function analysis in mice demonstrates a previously unappreciated role for ADAMTS6 in connexin 43 gap junction expression, which is essential for myocardial conduction.ConclusionsOur approach identifies novel coding and non-coding variants underlying ventricular depolarization and provides a possible mechanism for the ADAMTS6-associated conduction changes.

From tying one's shoelaces to driving a car, complex skills involving the coordination of multiple muscles are common in everyday life; yet relatively little is known about how these skills are learned. Recent studies have shown that new sensorimotor skills involving re-mapping familiar body movements to unfamiliar outputs cannot be learned by adjusting pre-existing controllers, and that new task-specific controllers must instead be learned "de novo". To date, however, few studies have investigated de novo learning in scenarios requiring continuous and coordinated control of relatively unpractised body movements. In this study, we used a myoelectric interface to investigate how a novel controller is learned when the task involves an unpractised combination of relatively untrained continuous muscle contractions. Over five sessions on five consecutive days, participants learned to trace a series of trajectories using a computer cursor controlled by the activation of two muscles. The timing of the generated cursor trajectory and its shape relative to the target improved for conditions trained with post-trial visual feedback. Improvements in timing transferred to all untrained conditions, but improvements in shape transferred less robustly to untrained conditions requiring the trained order of muscle activation. All muscle outputs in the final session could already be generated during the first session, suggesting that participants learned the new task by improving the selection of existing motor commands. These results suggest that the novel controllers acquired during de novo learning can, in some circumstances, be constructed from components of existing controllers. Author summary: Real-world skills often involve continuous coordination of multiple muscles. Recent studies of sensorimotor skill learning have argued that these skills are not learned by adjusting existing control policies, instead requiring a new controller to be learned "de novo". It remains unclear how such controllers are learned for tasks involving unfamiliar combinations of body movements. In this study, we used a novel human-computer interface task to test this. Background: Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of infants with congenital heart disease (CHD) shows brain immaturity assessed via a cortical-based semi-quantitative score. Our primary aim was to develop an infant paralimbic-related subcortical-based semi-quantitative dysmaturation score, termed brain dysplasia score (BDS), to detect abnormalities in CHD infants compared to healthy controls and secondarily to predict clinical outcomes. We also validated our BDS in a preclinical mouse model of hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Methods: A paralimbic-related subcortical BDS, derived from structural MRIs of infants with CHD, was compared to healthy controls and correlated with clinical risk factors, regional cerebral volumes, feeding, and 18-month neurodevelopmental outcomes. The BDS was validated in a known CHD mouse model named Ohia with two disease-causing genes, Sap130 and Pchda9. To relate clinical findings, RNA-Seq was completed on Ohia animals. Findings: BDS showed high incidence of paralimbic-related subcortical abnormalities (including olfactory, cerebellar, and hippocampal abnormalities) in CHD infants (n = 215) compared to healthy controls (n = 92). BDS correlated with reduced cortical maturation, developmental delay, poor language and feeding outcomes, and increased length of stay. Ohia animals (n = 63) showed similar BDS findings, and RNA-Seq analysis showed altered neurodevelopmental and feeding pathways. Sap130 mutants correlated with a more severe BDS, whereas Pcdha9 correlated with a milder phenotype. Conclusions: Our BDS is sensitive to dysmaturational differences between CHD and healthy controls and predictive of poor outcomes. A similar spectrum of paralimbic and subcortical abnormalities exists between human and Ohia mutants, suggesting a common genetic mechanistic etiology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study was carried out on 9 Romanian Black and White cows in their first hundred days of lactation. The aim of this study was to measure the main aspects that characterized the excretion behaviour (defecation) of the cows in 24 hours that were divided into 3 day periods: 07:00-14:00 (I1), 14:00-2:001 (I2), 21:00-07:00 (I3). During the experiments, the following defecation behaviour aspects were determined: total number of defecations, number of defecations in the three intervals, number of defecations according to administration order of forages (fibrous-succulents and succulents-fibrous). Data was computed by ANOVA/MANOVA. Results showed that the differences between intervals I1-I2 and I1-I3 were statistically very significant (p< 0.01). In fibrous – succulent order the defecation were 0.69 higher than in succulent- fibrous order (p< 0.01). Total number of defecation resulted by summing the defecation from the three intervals, was 14.67 in the first administration order (fibrous-succulent) and 12.61 in the second administration order (succulent-fibrous).

The study was carried out on 9 Romanian Black and White primiparous cows. The aim of this study was to determine some aspect of nutritional behaviour of the cows. During the experiments, the following behaviour aspects were determined: interruption number and their duration in the feed consumption time. Results showed that the administration order of forages had an influence on the interruptions number, which was 0.74 less for hay in fibrous-succulent order (O1). Researches were made on 125 lactations from Romanian Black Spotted cows and aimed to study the evolution of the interval between calving on milk yield and quality. Data were recorded and statistically analyzed by means of ANOVA / MANOVA determining the average values and dispersion indices. Based on averages parameters of lactation curves were calculated using the mathematical model called the incomplete gamma function. It has long been suspected that thermo-topographic flows, especially gravity currents, within vegetation canopies on complex terrain are one of the main reasons behind the failure to reconcile micrometeorological and biometric estimates of canopy-atmosphere exchange at many sites. However, the physical mechanisms governing the initiation and the scaling of these flows remain poorly understood. Here we present the results of a novel wind tunnel study that looks in detail at the flow within and above an open canopy in stably stratified conditions and investigates the physical mechanisms responsible for gravity currents within canopies. The wind tunnel simulations demonstrate that gravity currents are established through a complex balance of competing forces on the flow within the canopy. Three forcing terms act on the flow in the canopy as it passes over the hill. First is the hydrodynamic pressure gradient associated with the boundary layer flow aloft; second, a hydrostatic pressure gradient associated with the displacement of temperature and density surfaces by the hill, and finally a thermal wind term, where a streamwise pressure gradient is caused by changes in the depth of the temperature perturbations to the flow. The net balance of these forces is opposed by the canopy drag. Gravity currents, however, do not appear unless the turbulence, which supports the transport of momentum into the canopy, is also reduced. This suppression occurs preferentially deep within the canopy due to a Richardson number cut-off effect, which is directly linked to the different transport mechanisms of heat and momentum across the boundary layers on the canopy elements. The gravity current first appears at the ground surface, despite cooling profiles that are concentrated in the upper canopy. Once initiated, a gravity current can propagate substantial distances away from the triggering topography, driven by the thermal wind term. If shown to be robust these results have widespread implications for the micrometeorology, atmospheric boundary layer and numerical weather prediction communities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Considerando a pertinência do as built para reformas e manutenções e a ascensão de novas tecnologias na Indústria 4.0, foi analisada a contribuição de fotografias 360 graus nas etapas de levantamento de dados e validação de informações para modelagem desse documento, comparando-a com a fotografia tradicional usualmente utilizada. Partindo-se de pesquisa empírica em campo, foram modelados dois as built em software BIM do processo de reforma da edificação da Fundação Nova Vida, em Florianópolis (SC), dedicada à assistência social. Com os as built pré-reforma e pós-reforma foi possível comparar as duas modalidades: fotografias tradicionais na etapa pré-reforma e fotografias com lente esférica 360 graus na etapa pós-reforma. Parâmetros como quantidade de informações contidas e tamanho dos conjuntos de arquivos fotográficos gerados foram considerados no estudo. A fotografia 360 graus apresentou mais dados e maior área de abrangência, reduzindo a quantidade de arquivos gerados e o tamanho do conjunto de arquivos armazenados. A fotografia tradicional, por envolver a tomada de decisão sobre o que registrar, demanda tempo extra em levantamentos em campo, enquanto a fotografia 360 graus faz um registro global. A fotografia 360 graus mostrou-se mais eficaz do que a tradicional, proporcionando maior agilidade na coleta e conferência de dados para a modelagem BIM.

Packages and their design have evolved over the years. The packaging must have aesthetic appeal to attract customers but also at the same time meet the requirements for data product assortment. In the following paper we will deal with the topic packaging label design with all elements. At the beginning I will give you a short introduction about the importance of the packaging and the labels design and how they influence the selling and image of the companies. Therefore at the end I want to mainly focus on creating a new brand for dairy products called Nature Yogurt that can be used with the new package design and creating a logo and a label for it.

Embora haja um grande número de estudos que analisam a relação entre a forma urbana e arquitetônica e a ocorrência de crimes, estudos específicos em ambientes universitários ainda são raros. Neste trabalho, são analisados dois pares de estacionamentos no campus principal da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), em Florianópolis, para verificar se a visibilidade, permeabilidade, nível de apropriação e diversidade de uso do solo podem ser fatores explicativos de uma maior ou menor ocorrência de crimes nesses locais. Eles foram escolhidos por apresentar, em cada par, quantidades semelhantes de vagas e quantidades contrastantes de crimes, sendo um estacionamento com alta e o outro com baixa ocorrência. A análise comparativa foi feita com base em levantamentos in loco, observação e elaboração de mapas. Os resultados indicam que a visibilidade e permeabilidade são efetivamente importantes para diminuir a ocorrência de crimes. Por outro lado, a quantidade de pessoas em cada local, por si só, não foi capaz de explicar as diferenças nas taxas de crimes, a não ser quando foi considerada sua distribuição ao longo do dia e a visibilidade a partir dos principais caminhos para os estacionamentos. Quanto aos usos do solo, os resultados mostraram-se contrários à crença disseminada entre arquitetos e urbanistas de que maior diversidade estaria relacionada a menor número de ocorrências criminais. As conclusões trazem elementos para fomentar os debates, planos e intervenções em campi universitários sob a lógica da segurança.

The paper presents the maintenance process that is done on an airplane, at a certain period of time, or after a number of flight hours or cycles and describes the checks performed behind each inspection. The first part of research describes the aircraft maintenance process that has to be done after an updated maintenance manual according with aircraft type, followed by a short introduction about maintenance hangar. The second part of the paper presents a hangar design with a foldable roof and walls, which can be folded or extended, over an airplane when a maintenance process is done, or depending on weather condition.

Previous research shows that there are individual differences in academic achievement associated with gender and race. Research also suggests that student engagement is an important determinant of student outcomes/achievement. The present study explored student engagement at an extra-large community college. It specifically investigated possible individual differences in student engagement and explored how it maps on to student achievement. As predicted, the results indicate that there are gender and race differences in student engagement--females show greater engagement than males, and African-American students show greater engagement than students of other races. The results are discussed in the context of student achievement as indicated by students' self-reported GPAs. (Contains 6 tables.)
