Purpose: Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is considered a notable independent risk factor for cardiometabolic disorders. The current study aimed to investigate the efficacy of new anthropometric indices, A Body Shape Index (ABSI) and the Body Roundness Index (BRI), in assessing cardiovascular risk (CVR) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) among OSAS patients and to compare them with traditional indices. Materials and Methods: The records of 281 patients who consulted our sleep center were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were categorized according to OSA severity using AHI values. They were also classified based on cardiovascular conditions (CVR and CVD). ABSI, BRI, and traditional indices [such as body mass index (BMI), neck circumference (NC)] of the patient groups were evaluated. Results: Of the 281 patients recruited, 218 (77.6%) were diagnosed with OSAS. The distribution of cardiovascular conditions among the OSAS patients was: CVD (20%), CVR (39.8%), and control (40.2%). The new index BRI (Odds ratio-OR: 2.641, 95% CI: 1.24– 5.62) has shown better predictive ability for CVR compared to traditional measures, while NC (OR: 1.320, 95% CI: 1.09– 1.60) was the only predictor of CVD. Additionally, the BRI had a higher AUC value (0.656) than traditional indices in terms of diagnostic performance in distinguishing CVR. Another new index ABSI was not found to be significant in evaluating cardiovascular conditions. Conclusion: BRI, one of the new indices, is a useful anthropometric parameter in the CVR assessment of OSAS patients, offering better predictive ability than traditional measurements. Introduction: The anti‐aging protein Klotho levels are decreased, and Klotho deficiency is associated with cardiovascular diseases in patients with chronic kidney disease. There are recent studies about the relation between soluble Klotho levels and anemia. We aimed to investigate the correlation of anemia and hemoglobin variability with soluble Klotho levels in hemodialysis patients. Methods: Ninety‐one hemodialysis patients were included in this study. The mean hemoglobin value, hemoglobin variability, and coefficient of variation of hemoglobin for each patient were calculated. According to mean hemoglobin levels, two groups were defined as under 11 and ≥11 g/dl. Soluble Klotho levels of each patient were studied. Results: Mean hemoglobin levels, hemoglobin variability, and coefficient of variation of hemoglobin were not significantly correlated with soluble Klotho levels. According to mean hemoglobin levels under 11 and ≥ 11 g/dl, there was no statistically significant correlation between anemia and soluble Klotho levels. Conclusion: Soluble Klotho levels were not associated with anemia and hemoglobin variability in hemodialysis patients. Some evidence suggests that anxiety deteriorate the immune system. We aimed to determine the effect of anxiety on COVID‐19 infection in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Our study was conducted with 80 HD patients. State‐Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) questionnaires were administered between April 15 and May 1, 2020. These patients were followed up for about 8 months and COVID‐19 infection, hospitalization, and death rates were recorded. Twenty‐one (26%) of the patients were diagnosed with COVID‐19 infection. Fourteen out of twenty one (66.6%) of the patients were hospitalized, and 8/21 (38%) of them died due to COVID‐19. STAI‐S (p= 0.006) and BAI (p= 0.021) scores were found to be higher and STAI‐T (p= 0.040) score was found to be lower in HD patients who were infected with COVID‐19 compared to without, at the follow‐up period. The most common cause of rhabdomyolysis is trauma. In the presence of rhabdomyolysis attacks triggered by heavy exercise and fever, hereditary causes should be investigated. In our study, a case was presented that developed rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury due to carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2 (CPT2) deficiency and then required hemodialysis treatment. We wanted to draw attention to hereditary rhabdomyolysis in this case. A 25‐year‐old male patient was hospitalized with pneumonia and acute kidney injury. On examination, muscle enzymes, creatinine, and potassium levels were high. The patient, who was evaluated as having rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury, underwent three sessions of hemodialysis treatment due to the indication for renal replacement therapy. He had a history of rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury 5 years ago. The only trigger for both attacks was febrile infection. There was a history of acute kidney injury in two of his siblings in family history. In the gene analysis requested due to suspicion of hereditary causes, homozygous mutation was detected in CPT2 whole gene sequence analysis. Medium‐chain triglycerides, low‐fat diet, and L‐carnitine capsules were given for treatment. Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2 deficiency is the most common form of muscle fatty acid metabolism disorder. The phenotype of the patients can vary from severe infantile form to milder muscle form characterized by rhabdomyolysis. Cases requiring hemodialysis are very rare, so we wanted to present this case. In this study, the analytical solution of the direct dynamics problem that mostly requires some numerical techniques is developed for two important cases. In the first case, two coupled differential equations of the motion of a particle acted upon by the constant radial force [F.sub.r] and tangential force [F.sub.[theta]] are solved. The analytical solution for the case of variable radial force [F.sub.r] = kr and the constant tangential force [F.sub.[theta]] is considered as a second stage. There are studies reporting that soluble kltho (sKlotho) deficiency plays a role in cardiovascular disease in addition to traditional risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, anemia, smoking, and excessive volume burden. Our aim in this study was to investigate the relationship of sKlotho with uremic cardiomyopathy and echocardiographic parameters in patients receiving hemodialysis treatment. According to the median value, the sKlotho value was divided into two groups as ≥1.24 and <1.24 ng/ml. Ventricular wall thicknesses, ejection fractions, left atrium, M mode aorta systole, and diastole diameter measurements were taken. The left ventricular mass (LVM) was calculated using the Devereux formula. There were significant differences between the two groups in terms of age, number of patients with diabetes mellitus, comorbidity, dialysis time, sKlotho, phosphorus, parathormone, and albumin parameters. No significant difference was found between the two groups that were separated according to the median sKlotho value, when the echocardiographic parameters of interventricular septum thickness, left ventricular posterior wall thickness, left atrial diameter, left ventricular ejection fraction, and LVM index were compared. In conclusion, sKlotho is not a marker for showing and predicting uremic cardiomyopathy in hemodialysis patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
