Deep-Seated Gravitational Slope Deformations (DSGSDs) are common in many geological environments, and due to their common limited displacement rate, they can remain unrecognized for a long time. Among the most significant events in Sicily is the Mt. San Calogero DSGSD. To contribute to a better understanding of its characteristics, including the geologic setting promoting its development, ongoing kinematics, and mechanism, a specific analysis was completed. In this paper, the results of this analysis, based on a three-folded strategy, are provided and interpreted in the context of DSGSD predisposing conditions and controlling factors. Especially, field observations associated to visual interpretation of aerial imagery were used for the identification and mapping of main geological features and landforms, high-resolution X-Band DInSAR data enabled researchers to fully characterize the deformational behavior of the slope, while a reduced complexity slope stability analysis allowed them to reconstruct the deep geometry of the DSGSD. Results from the analysis indicate that the DSGSD of Mt. San Calogero is composed of three blocks corresponding to fault-bounded tectonic elements and characterized by a specific kinematics and sensitivity to external forcing (i.e., rainfall), multiple landslides are associated to the DSGSD in the area and the deep geometry of the DSGSD is concave upward and resemble the characteristics of a rotational slide. The interpretation of the results suggests that the formation and the deformation of the Mt. San Calogero DSGSD are linked with the local and regional fault systems related to the Sicilian orogen, while shallow landslides are triggered, in clayey terrains, mostly by rainfalls. In addition, the integrated approach reveals that active tectonics and rainfalls in the San Calogero massive relief are the main driving forces of its different deformation behavior. Cascading landslides are specific multi-hazard events in which a primary movement triggers successive landslide processes. Areas with dynamic and quickly changing environments are more prone to this type of phenomena. Both the kind and the evolution velocity of a landslide depends on the materials involved. Indeed, rockfalls are generated when rocks fall from a very steep slope, while debris flow and/or mudslides are generated by fine materials like silt and clay after strong water imbibition. These events can amplify the damage caused by the initial trigger and propagate instability along a slope, often resulting in significant environmental and societal impacts. The Morino-Rendinara cascading landslide, situated in the Ernici Mountains along the border of the Abruzzo and Lazio regions (Italy), serves as a notable example of the complexities and devastating consequences associated with such events. In March 2021, a substantial debris flow event obstructed the Liri River, marking the latest step in a series of landslide events. Conventional techniques such as geomorphological observations and geological surveys may not provide exhaustive information to explain the landslide phenomena in progress. For this reason, UAV image acquisition, InSAR interferometry, and pixel offset analysis can be used to improve the knowledge of the mechanism and kinematics of landslide events. In this work, the interferometric data ranged from 3 January 2020 to 24 March 2023, while the pixel offset data covered the period from 2016 to 2022. The choice of such an extensive data window provided comprehensive insight into the investigated events, including the possibility of identifying other unrecorded events and aiding in the development of more effective mitigation strategies. Furthermore, to supplement the analysis, a specific finite element method for slope stability analysis was used to reconstruct the deep geometry of the system, emphasizing the effect of groundwater-level flow on slope stability. All of the findings indicate that major landslide activities were concentrated during the heavy rainfall season, with movements ranging from several centimeters per year. Landslides represent a major problem in human activities, especially in the proximity of cities or infrastructure. In this paper, we present the peculiar case of Pietracamela, Italy. Pietracamela is a small village located in the Central Apennines, a few kilometers north of the Gran Sasso Mountain. The peculiarity of the case study is the fact that the village is simultaneously affected by two different types of slope instabilities. The southwest sector, representing the historical part of the village, has been affected by large rockfalls generated from the "Capo le Vene" cliff located in the south of the village. The northeastern sector of the village represents the most recent urbanized area and is involved in a deep-seated landslide that, in the last decades, has damaged buildings and infrastructure. In this context, we have used two different types of remote sensing techniques to study the two phenomena. The rockfall area has been surveyed through the use of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that allowed the definition of main joint sets and the volume of blocks associated with the most recent (2011) rockfall event. Three main joint sets have been highlighted, which are responsible for the failure of the "Capo le Vene" cliff. The volume of blocks that failed during the last rock failure in 2011 ranged from a few to 1500 m3. The deep-seated landslide has been studied by analyzing borehole data and 20 years of InSAR data from ERS1/2, ENVISAT, COSMO-SkyMed, and SENTINEL-1. It has been highlighted by InSAR analysis that the northeast sector of the village shows a perfectly linear displacement trend that generates movements up to about 230 mm (about 1 cm/year). Pityriasis rubra pilaris (PRP) is a rare, papulosquamous, inflammatory skin disease. PRP represents a therapeutic challenge. The rarity of this disease and its possible spontaneous remission makes the conduction and interpretation of therapeutic studies particularly difficult. Moreover, PRP not infrequently proves resistant to common topical and conventional systemic therapies. In this context, numerous biologic agents have been reported in PRP treatment. The aim of our manuscript was to review the current literature to evaluate the possible role of biologics targeting the IL17/23 axis in PRP management. Recent cases in the literature have highlighted the use of several promising drugs: IL-17 inhibitors, IL-23 inhibitors, and the IL-12/23p40 inhibitor ustekinumab. However, it should be noted that all these drugs are approved for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and their use in PRP is off label. The treatment of PRP is based on clinical experience, case reports or case series reported in the literature, as randomized controlled trials are difficult to conduct due to the rarity of the condition. Despite data on the efficacy of drugs targeting IL-17 and IL-23 being promising, they are still limited. Nowadays, despite the wide availability of biological drugs and apremilast for psoriasis management, there is always a need for new therapies to customize the therapeutic approach on the basis of the patient's clinical features and comorbidities, especially in order to achieve a prolonged therapeutic response. Thus, new treatment strategies are required to offer patients a personalized approach. In this scenario, major knowledge on psoriasis pathogenesis led to the development of deucravacitinib, an orally administered selective TYK2 inhibitor. The aim of this manuscript is to review the current literature on the effectiveness and safety of deucravacitinib in psoriasis to offer readers a wide perspective. The current English literature was analyzed using the PubMed, Google Scholar, Embase, Cochrane Skin, and clinicaltrials.gov databases, selecting the most relevant manuscripts. Deucravacitinib appears to be an innovative weapon for the management of moderate to severe psoriasis. Despite its efficacy and safety profiles have been revealed by RCTs, real-life data are still scant. Certainly, deucravacitinib broadens the range of therapeutic alternatives for psoriasis patients, thus enhancing the holistic and personalized approaches required for the treatment of this disease. Cascading landslides are sequences of multiple landslides that commonly involves significant volumes of material and exhibit variable velocity up to several m/s. The impact of these processes is generally significant so that they can claim victims and be responsible of significant losses. Considering the complexity of the process, their mitigation involves the understanding of causeeffect relations between the initial triggering event and subsequent cascading processes as well as the development of methodological framework for their analysis. On this basis, this work aims to analyse the characteristics of the cascading landslide event of Morino-Rendinara, in the L’Aquila province, applying a procedure that, comprising multiple methods, is capable of providing data depicting mechanism and kinematics of the system, anatomy of landslides and prospective susceptibility scenario. In the last decades, the concern for infrastructure damage and collapse due to natural hazards has globally increased. Highways, railways, bridges, and tunnels, worldwide, have faced consistent damage or destruction from landslides and floods, exacerbated by the ongoing climate change and population growth. In Italy, significant examples of these events are the recent failures of the Polcevera and Magra bridges, impacting people and the local economy. Especially, after the Polcevera bridge collapse, the Italian government has considered the need for specific practices of bridge/viaduct risk assessment. In response to this requirement, governmental agencies have developed specific projects oriented to the development of specific guidelines. This work is part of one of these projects, entrusted specifically to the ReLuis consortium, aimed at contributing to the application and optimization of an experimental protocol for bridge/viaduct classification in natural-hazard related risk assessment perspective. In this context, this work describes the results of an initial-level analysis of the interaction condition of a slowmoving landslide with the “Villa Ilii” Viaduct located along the A24 highway at Colledara, in the Teramo Province. The analysis aims to evaluate landslide characteristics, including landslide anatomy and kinematics, and their potential impact, contributing to define and identify viaduct classification in landslide risk perspective. The study area is characterized by the presence of the Laga Formation, mainly represented by sandstones and marls, overlaid by sandy Quaternary deposits. In fact the formation of the Laga (Ricci Lucchi, 1975) represents the filling of one of the many foreland basins currently exposed in a wide area between southern Marche and northern Abruzzo, developed at the forefront of the Apennines during its migration eastward and northeastward, as a result of the collision between the European lithospheric plate and the Adriatic plate, a likely protrusion of the African continent.), Methods including existing data collection, field surveys, numerical chartography analysis, geophysical surveys and PS InSAR technique were used to reconstruct the geological setting of the slope affected by the landslide, its anatomy and kinematics. Especially, multiple field surveys and numerical cartography analysis revealed landslide extent over a surface of 78,000 m², geophysical survey indicated a landslide thickness of around 15 m, comparable with the thickness of Quaternary deposits, and SAR-interferometric data, processed by SUBSIDENCE software, indicated persistent slow movement typically accelerating in spring. These data are crucial for understanding the landslide’s potential impact on the “Villa Ilii” viaduct’s structural conditions, already exhibiting local deformation and cracking, similar to surrounding settlements. In the last decades the Valtellina valley (northern Italy) has suffered from several catastrophic rainfall-induced shallow landslide events inducing debris flows. The growing of urban settlements has driven population to colonize areas at risk, where prediction and prevention actions are nowadays a challenge for geoscientists. Debris flows are widespread in mountain areas because occurring along steep slopes covered by loose regolith or soil coverings. Under such conditions, heavy rainfall events might cause slope instabilities due to the increase in pore water pressure depending on hydraulic and geotechnical properties as well as thicknesses of soil covers. Despite the initial small volumes, debris flows hazard is significant due to the sediment entrainment and volume increase of the involved material, high velocity and runout distance. In such a framework, predicting timing and position of slope instabilities as well as paths, volumes, and velocity of potential debris flows is of great significance to assess areas at risk and to settle appropriate countermeasures. In this work, back analyses of debris flows occurred in representative sites of the Valtellina valley were carried out with the aim of understanding their features and providing a methodological basis for slope to valley scale susceptibility mapping. Numerical modeling of slope stability and runout was completed allowing the identification of the detachment, transport, and deposition zones of previously occurred landslides, including other potentially unstable ones. Results from this study emphasize issues in performing distributed numerical modeling depending on the availability of spatially distributed soil properties which hamper the quality of physicsbased models. In the framework of hazard mapping and risk strategy assessments, the approach presented can be used to evaluate the possible runout phase of new potential debris flows recognized by geomorphological evidence and numerical modeling. Furthermore, analyses aimed to the probabilistic assessment of landslide spatial distribution, related to a specific value of rainfall threshold, can be considered as potentially applicable to multi-scale landslide hazard mapping and extendable to other similar mountainous frameworks. Terraced landscapes represent one of the most widespread human-induced/man-made transformations of hilly-mountainous environments. Slope terracing produces peculiar morphologies along with unusual soil textures and stratigraphic features, which in turn strongly influence slope hydrology. The investigation of the hydrological features of terraced soils is of fundamental importance for understanding the hydrological dynamics occurring in these anthropogenic landscapes, especially during rainfall events. To this purpose, the availability of extensive field monitoring data series and of information on subsoil properties and structure is essential. In this study, multi-sensor hydrological data were acquired over a period longer than 2 years in the experimental site of Monterosso al Mare, in the Cinque Terre National Park (Liguria region, Italy), one of the most famous examples of terraced landscape worldwide. Monitoring data were coupled with accurate engineering-geological investigations to achieve the hydro-mechanical characterization of backfill soils and to investigate their hydrological response at both the seasonal and the single rainstorm scale. The results indicated that the coarse-grained, and anthropically remolded texture of the soils favors the rapid infiltration of rainwater, producing sharp changes in both soil volumetric water content and pore water pressure. Furthermore, the pattern of hydrological parameters showed seasonal trends outlined by alternating phases of slow drying and fast wetting. The study outcomes provide useful insights on the short and long-term evolution of hydrological factors operating in agricultural terraces. These findings represent a useful basis for a better understanding of the time-dependent processes that guide water circulation in terraced systems, which have a key role in controlling the occurrence of erosion and landslide processes.
