General-purpose object placement is a fundamental capability of an intelligent generalist robot, i.e., being capable of rearranging objects following human instructions even in novel environments. To achieve this, we break the rearrangement down into three parts, including object localization, goal imagination and robot control, and propose a framework named SPORT. SPORT leverages pre-trained large vision models for broad semantic reasoning about objects, and learns a diffusion-based 3D pose estimator to ensure physically-realistic results. Only object types (to be moved or reference) are communicated between these two parts, which brings two benefits. One is that we can fully leverage the powerful ability of open-set object localization and recognition since no specific fine-tuning is needed for robotic scenarios. Furthermore, the diffusion-based estimator only need to "imagine" the poses of the moving and reference objects after the placement, while no necessity for their semantic information. Thus the training burden is greatly reduced and no massive training is required. The training data for goal pose estimation is collected in simulation and annotated with GPT-4. A set of simulation and real-world experiments demonstrate the potential of our approach to accomplish general-purpose object rearrangement, placing various objects following precise instructions., Comment: 9 pages

The trans-series completion of perturbative series of a wide class of quantum mechanical systems can be determined by combining the resurgence program and extra input coming from exact WKB analysis. In this paper, we reexamine the Harper-Hofstadter model and its spectrum, Hofstadter's butterfly, in light of recent developments. We demonstrate the connection between the perturbative energy series of the Harper-Hofstadter model and the vev of $1/2$-BPS Wilson loop of 5d SYM and clarify the differences between their non-perturbative corrections. Taking insights from the cosine potential model, we construct the full energy trans-series for flux $\phi=2\pi/Q$ and provide numerical evidence with remarkably high precision. We study the resurgent structures of Wilson loops in refined topological string theory. We argue that the Borel singularities should be integral periods, and that the associated Stokes constants are refined Donaldson-Thomas invariants, just like the free energies, except that the Borel singularities cannot be local flat coordinates. We also solve the non-perturbative series in closed form from the holomorphic anomaly equations for the refined Wilson loops. Machine learning techniques have been successfully used in probabilistic wind power forecasting. However, the issue of missing values within datasets due to sensor failure, for instance, has been overlooked for a long time. Although it is natural to consider addressing this issue by imputing missing values before model estimation and forecasting, we suggest treating missing values and forecasting targets indifferently and predicting all unknown values simultaneously based on observations. In this paper, we offer an efficient probabilistic forecasting approach by estimating the joint distribution of features and targets based on a generative model. It is free of preprocessing, and thus avoids introducing potential errors. Entropy production and dynamical activity are two complementary aspects in nonequilibrium physics. The asymmetry of cross-correlation, serving as a distinctive feature of nonequilibrium, also finds widespread utility. In this paper we demonstrate that the Stokes constants of unrefined free energies and the Stokes constants of Nekrasov-Shatashvili free energies of topological string on a non-compact Calabi-Yau threefold are identical, possibly up to a sign, for any Borel singularity which is not associated to a compact two-cycle that intersects only with non-compact four-cycles. Since the Stokes constants of Nekrasov-Shatashvili free energies are conjectured to coincide with those of quantum periods and therefore have the interpretation of BPS invariants, our results give strong support that the Stokes constants of unrefined free energies may also be identified with BPS invariants., Comment: 29 pages, 2 figures

We obtain analytic and numerical results for the non-perturbative amplitudes of topological string theory on arbitrary, compact Calabi-Yau manifolds. Our approach is based on the theory of resurgence and extends previous special results to the more general case. In particular, we obtain explicit trans-series solutions of the holomorphic anomaly equations. Our results predict the all orders, large genus asymptotics of the topological string free energies, which we test in detail against high genus perturbative series obtained recently in the compact case. We investigate bounds on speed, non-adiabatic entropy production and trade-off relation between them for classical stochastic processes with time-independent transition rates. Our results show that the time required to evolve from an initial to a desired target state is bounded from below by the informational-theoretic $\infty$-R\'enyi divergence between these states, divided by the total rate. Quantum secret sharing (QSS) is one of the basic communication primitives in future quantum networks which addresses part of the basic cryptographic tasks of multiparty communication and computation. Nevertheless, it is a challenge to provide a practical QSS protocol with security against general attacks. A QSS protocol that balances security and practicality is still lacking. Here, we propose a QSS protocol with simple phase encoding of coherent states among three parties. Removing the requirement of impractical entangled resources and the need for phase randomization, our protocol can be implemented with accessible technology. We provide the finite-key analysis against coherent attacks and implement a proof-of-principle experiment to demonstrate our scheme's feasibility. Our scheme achieves a key rate of 85.3 bps under a 35 dB channel loss. Quantum key distribution provides a promising solution for sharing secure keys between two distant parties with unconditional security. Nevertheless, quantum key distribution is still severely threatened by the imperfections of devices. In particular, the classical pulse correlation threatens security when sending decoy states. To address this problem and simplify experimental requirements, we propose a phase-matching quantum key distribution protocol without intensity modulation. Instead of using decoy states, we propose a novel method to estimate the theoretical upper bound on the phase error rate contributed by even-photon-number components. Simulation results show that the transmission distance of our protocol could reach 305 km in telecommunication fiber. Furthermore, we perform a proof-of-principle experiment to demonstrate the feasibility of our protocol, and the key rate reaches 22.5 bps under a 45 dB channel loss. Addressing the security loophole of pulse intensity correlation and replacing continuous random phase with 6 or 8 slices random phase, our protocol provides a promising solution for constructing quantum networks., Comment: Comments are welcome! 12 pages, 6 figures

Quantum adiabaticity is characterized by the evolution of a quantum system that remains close to an instantaneous eigenstate of a time-varying Hamiltonian, precluding transitions between eigenstates. Employing Floquet formalism, we rigorously establish two sufficient conditions that ensure quantum adiabaticity in periodically driven systems, applicable for time evolution of arbitrary length. Distinct from traditional conditions, the Floquet-based conditions are tight for certain specific parameter regimes, dispense with supplementary constraints, and suggest the possibility of adiabaticity at high frequencies. In the study of 3d-3d correspondence occurs a natural $q$-Weyl algebra associated to an ideal triangulation of a 3-manifold with torus boundary components, and a module of it. We study the action of this module on the (rotated) 3d-index of Dimofte-Gaiotto-Gukov and we conjecture some structural properties: bilinear factorization in terms of holomorphic blocks, pair of linear $q$-difference equations, the determination of the 3d-index in terms of a finite size matrix of rational functions and the asymptotic expansion of the $q$-series as $q$ tends to 1 to all orders. Quantum periods appear in many contexts, from quantum mechanics to local mirror symmetry. They can be described in terms of topological string free energies and Wilson loops, in the so-called Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit. We consider the trans-series extension of the holomorphic anomaly equations satisfied by these quantities, and we obtain exact multi-instanton solutions for these trans-series. Building on this result, we propose a unified perspective on the resurgent structure of quantum periods. We show for example that the Delabaere-Pham formula, which was originally obtained in quantum mechanical examples, is a generic feature of quantum periods. Topological string theory has multi-instanton sectors which lead to non-perturbative effects in the string coupling constant and control the large order behavior of the perturbative genus expansion. As proposed by Couso, Edelstein, Schiappa and Vonk, these sectors can be described by a trans-series extension of the BCOV holomorphic anomaly equations. In this paper we find exact, closed form solutions for these multi-instanton trans-series in the case of local Calabi-Yau manifolds. The resulting multi-instanton amplitudes turn out to be very similar to the eigenvalue tunneling amplitudes of matrix models. Their form suggests that the flat coordinates of the Calabi-Yau manifold are naturally quantized in units of the string coupling constant, as postulated in large $N$ dualities. Based on our results we obtain a general picture for the resurgent structure of the topological string in the local case, which we illustrate with explicit calculations in the case of local $\mathbb{P}^2$., Comment: 36 pages, 3 figures; typos corrected, references added

We apply the adiabatic approximation to slow but finite-time thermodynamic processes and obtain the full counting statistics of work. The average work consists of change in free energy and the dissipated work, and we identify each term as a dynamical- and geometric-phase-like quantity. In this note we study the resurgent structure of $sl(2,\mathbb{C})$ Chern-Simons state integral models on knot complements $S^3\backslash\mathbf{4}_1,S^3\backslash\mathbf{5}_2$ with generic discrete level $k\geq 1$ and with small boundary holonomy deformation. The coefficients of the saddle point expansions are in the trace field of the knot extended by the holonomy parameter. The rational $Q$-system is an efficient method to solve Bethe ansatz equations for quantum integrable spin chains. We construct the rational $Q$-systems for generic Bethe ansatz equations described by an $A_{\ell-1}$ quiver, which include models with multiple momentum carrying nodes, generic inhomogeneities, generic diagonal twists and $q$-deformation. The rational $Q$-system thus constructed is specified by two partitions. Under Bethe/Gauge correspondence, the rational $Q$-system is in a one-to-one correspondence with a 3d $\mathcal{N}=4$ quiver gauge theory of the type ${T}_{\boldsymbol{\rho}}^{\boldsymbol{\sigma}}[SU(n)]$, which is also specified by the same partitions. This shows that the rational $Q$-system is a natural language for the Bethe/Gauge correspondence, because known features of the ${T}_{\boldsymbol{\rho}}^{\boldsymbol{\sigma}}[SU(n)]$ theories readily translate. For instance, we show that the Higgs and Coulomb branch Higgsing correspond to modifying one of the partitions in the rational $Q$-system while keeping the other untouched. Similarly, mirror symmetry is realized in terms of the rational $Q$-system by simply swapping the two partitions - exactly as for ${T}_{\boldsymbol{\rho}}^{\boldsymbol{\sigma}}[SU(n)]$. We present a data-driven approach for probabilistic wind power forecasting based on conditional normalizing flow (CNF). In contrast with the existing, this approach is distribution-free (as for non-parametric and quantile-based approaches) and can directly yield continuous probability densities, hence avoiding quantile crossing. It relies on a base distribution and a set of bijective mappings. Both the shape parameters of the base distribution and the bijective mappings are approximated with neural networks. Spline-based conditional normalizing flow is considered owing to its non-affine characteristics. Over the training phase, the model sequentially maps input examples onto samples of base distribution, given the conditional contexts, where parameters are estimated through maximum likelihood. To issue probabilistic forecasts, one eventually maps samples of the base distribution into samples of a desired distribution. The security of quantum key distribution (QKD) is severely threatened by discrepancies between realistic devices and theoretical assumptions. Recently, a significant framework called the reference technique was proposed to provide security against arbitrary source flaws under current technology such as state preparation flaws, side channels caused by mode dependencies, the Trojan horse atttacks and pulse correlations. Here, we adopt the reference technique to prove security of an efficient four-phase measurement-device-independent QKD using laser pulses against potential source imperfections. We present a characterization of source flaws and connect them to experiments, together with a finite-key analysis against coherent attacks. In addition, we demonstrate the feasibility of our protocol through a proof-of-principle experimental implementation and achieve a secure key rate of 253 bps with a 20 dB channel loss. Compared with previous QKD protocols with imperfect devices, our study considerably improves both the secure key rate and the transmission distance, and shows application potential in the practical deployment of secure QKD with device imperfections., Comment: 16 pages, 7 figures, 6 tables. Wind power forecasting is essential to power system operation and electricity markets. As abundant data became available thanks to the deployment of measurement infrastructures and the democratization of meteorological modelling, extensive data-driven approaches have been developed within both point and probabilistic forecasting frameworks. These models usually assume that the dataset at hand is complete and overlook missing value issues that often occur in practice. In contrast to that common approach, we rigorously consider here the wind power forecasting problem in the presence of missing values, by jointly accommodating imputation and forecasting tasks. Our approach allows inferring the joint distribution of input features and target variables at the model estimation stage based on incomplete observations only. We place emphasis on a fully conditional specification method owing to its desirable properties, e.g., being assumption-free when it comes to these joint distributions. Then, at the operational forecasting stage, with available features at hand, one can issue forecasts by implicitly imputing all missing entries. The approach is applicable to both point and probabilistic forecasting, while yielding competitive forecast quality within both simulation and real-world case studies. The metal-insulator transition (MIT) driven by electronic correlations is a fundamental and challenging problem in condensed-matter physics. Particularly, whether such a transition can be continuous remains open. The emergence of semiconducting moir\'e materials with continuously tunable bandwidth provides an ideal platform to study interaction-driven MITs. Although a bandwidth-tuned MIT at fixed full electron filling of the moir\'e superlattice has been reported recently, that at fractional filling, which involves translational symmetry breaking of the underlying superlattice, remains elusive. Here, we demonstrate bandwidth-tuned MITs in a MoSe2/WS2 moir\'e superlattice at both integer and fractional fillings using the exciton sensing technique. The bandwidth is controlled by an out-of-plane electric field. The dielectric response is probed optically with the 2s exciton in a remote WSe2 sensor layer. The exciton spectral weight is negligible for the metallic state, consistent with a large negative dielectric constant. It continuously vanishes when the transition is approached from the insulating side, corresponding to a diverging dielectric constant or a "dielectric catastrophe". Our results support continuous interaction-driven MITs in a two-dimensional triangular lattice and stimulate future explorations of exotic quantum phases, such as quantum spin liquids, in their vicinities.

Continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV QKD) with discrete modulation has attracted increasing attention due to its experimental simplicity, lower-cost implementation and compatibility with classical optical communication. Correspondingly, some novel numerical methods have been proposed to analyze the security of these protocols against collective attacks, which promotes key rates over one hundred kilometers of fiber distance. However, numerical methods are limited by their calculation time and resource consumption, for which they cannot play more roles on mobile platforms in quantum networks. To improve this issue, a neural network model predicting key rates in nearly real time has been proposed previously. Here, we go further and show a neural network model combined with Bayesian optimization. This model automatically designs the best architecture of neural network computing key rates in real time. We demonstrate our model with two variants of CV QKD protocols with quaternary modulation. The results show high reliability with secure probability as high as $99.15\%-99.59\%$, considerable tightness and high efficiency with speedup of approximately $10^7$ in both cases. This inspiring model enables the real-time computation of unstructured quantum key distribution protocols' key rate more automatically and efficiently, which has met the growing needs of implementing QKD protocols on moving platforms., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures
