- Abstract
This paper addresses problems associated with modelling of a meteorological station needed by small agricultural producers for monitoring and improving agricultural production process. The proposed meteorological station model represents an autonomous solution for remote monitoring of meteorological and spatio-temporal attributes. The efficiency of this solution is reflected in the constant monitoring of meteorological parameters using custom selected group of sensors, and significantly lower cost of realization compared to the available commercial solutions. The proposed meteorological station is applicable in fruit, crop and vegetable production. Due to its features and design, it is suitable for installation and outdoor use, enabling coverage of a large number of smaller surfaces through the creation of a wireless network of weather stations. This paper provides not only technical details about the meteorological station, but also practical use cases for improving agricultural production. It is a symbiosis of modem IT solutions and agriculture, presented both from scientific and practical aspect. Therefore, it can be useful not only to IT experts and data scientist, but also to agronomists. Furthermore, ideas presented in this paper are rather novel, and can be used as a starting point for domain specific data exploration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper we introduce the new version of the MOdelling, Specification and Evaluation Language - now called MOSEL-2 - and prove its applicability for performance modelling of mobile networks with nonMarkovian models. Like its predecessor MOSEL [Al-Begain et al, 2001], MOSEL-2 was developed at the Institute for Operating Systems at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. In contrast to many specification languages of existing performance modelling and evaluation tools, which often tend to be too verbose, most MOSEL-2 specifications are compact but anyhow easy to understand. Moreover, MOSEL-2 provides means by which many interesting performance or reliability measures and the graphical presentation of them can be specified straightforwardly. It is especially easy to evaluate a model with different sets of system parameters. The benefit of MOSEL-2 - especially for the practitioner from the industry - lies in its modelling environment: A MOSEL-2 model is automatically translated into various tool-specific system descriptions and then analysed or simulated by the appropriate tools. This exempts the modeller from the time-consuming task of learning different modelling languages. The following tools and evaluation methods are currently supported by MOSEL-2: MOSES [Bolch et al, 1994] provides several iterative and direct methods (Jacobi, Gauss Seidel, LPU, Crout and Grassmann) for analysing Markovian models, SPNP [Hirel et al, 2000] provides several numerical methods for solving Markovian models and discrete event simulation for evaluating non-Markovian models like extended stochastic Petri nets (ESPNs) and TimeNET [Zimmermann et al, 1999] provides numerical methods for solving Markovian and a restricted class of models with non-exponentially distributed transitions and moreover is able to simulate extended deterministic stochastic Petri nets (eDSPNs). Nevertheless, currently more endeavours are made to include even more evaluation tools and pre-processor concepts to enhance the modelling and evaluation power of MOSEL-2. Mobile communication systems have continued to evolve by the release of new standards for HSPA and the release of new standards for LTE in release 8 and release 9. The new releases aim at providing higher data rates to accommodate the envisioned services of 3GPP in voice, data, image transmission, video, multimedia service and broadband services. Catering for a wide variety of services to satisfy the demands imposed on mobile networks by the user diversity and demanding applications, the air interface has been identified as the major bottleneck in the mobile networks. Network planning engineers and operators are deploying the new air interfaces in the same cell sites, which gives rise to several internetworking issues among the different air interfaces from radio resources management to service call continuity issues due to user's mobility and changing point of attachment. Deployment of different air interfaces coupled with traffic diversity requests further complicates the managements of the mobile networks. One of The main objectives of this research is to propose and evaluate solutions that address the internetworking of the different radio air interfaces in proposing a call admission control algorithm that can utilize different air interfaces capabilities and to determine which traffic types are better suited to be serviced by an interface. The proposed algorithm will consider the availability of the interface, the load of the network and the user equipment capabilities. Another main objective of this research is to propose and evaluate solutions that address changing the point of attachment of the users due to mobility in the form of handover algorithm. The proposed algorithm will consider the coverage of the node, direction and speed of the user, the network load, the air interface availability and the user equipment capabilities. Another main objective of this research is to design and implement a simulation system which includes all 3GPP standardized technologies. The simulation tool was designed as a discrete event simulation (DBS) system which includes all the standardized air interface technologies and services. The simulation tool was designed using Visual C# to take advantage of the object oriented capabilities of the Windows environment and libraries. The simulation tool was essential in evaluating the proposed algorithms in the first two objectives.

The need for vehicle tracking system in real time is growth continues due to increase the cases of theft. This type of system in real time needs to transmit large data with huge number of HTTP request to the server to keep tracking and monitoring in real time, thus causes spend extremely high cost every month for transportation the information on tracking vehicles to server therefor the needs for reducing the number of transportation and data size that transmits in each HTTP request to save expenses. This paper designed and implement an integrated vehicle tracking system in real time to track vehicle anywhere and anytime. This system is divided into two parts: vehicle tracking part and monitoring part. Tracking part is represented by installation the electronic devices in the vehicle using modern Global Positioning System (GPS), microcontroller Arduino UNO R3 and SIM800L GSM/GPRS modem. GPS is determined location of the vehicle via received coordinates from satellites such as latitude and latitude with accuracy ranging approximately 2.5 meters; the coordinates faked to add a type of protection to information on vehicles without effecting on characterizing real time tracking before sending it via a General Packet Radio service (GPRS). The monitoring part is in the cloud and will receive the coordinates and displays it on a map in a web page. The main contribution of this system is it reduced data size that sent from in-vehicle device via selected only necessary data for tracking vehicle from NEMA sentences of GPS and reduced number of HTTP request that sent to remote server via constrain the transmission of information with the movement of vehicles, since when vehicle moved the coordinates each 10s and did not send anything when the vehicle stopped thus will reduce the cost of expenses every month. This system can be utilized to track and monitoring the vehicles of large universities, companies, organization and also can be used in army vehicles and police vehicles.

In recent years, wind plants have undergone major changes due to new technologies developed for Smart Grids (SG).To accomplish this, the new wind turbines should be able to communicate and share data and measurements. In this context, this study proposes the use of a robust wireless communication system to the control of a Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SCIG) connected to the grid. The wireless communication system is used to send power reference signals for SCIG controller with reliability to ensure the quality of power supplied by the wind turbine. In order to solve difficult problems such as difficulty in field data collection and data loss under the condition of coal mine, using the laboratory training platform, a kind of data transmission system based on GPS and GPRS and integrated by GPS and GSM/GPRS network positioning was proposed. It can grantee the uninterrupted data transmission. The hardware design was given, including the main control circuit of STM32F103, peripheral circuit of GPS module NEO-6M, peripheral circuit of GPRS module SIM900A, power supply module circuit, etc. And the software design including application of compiling and debugging was completed which can give and/or receive calls, send and/or receive text messages, GPS display for latitude and longitude, etc. The test results showed that the system ran stably, and held good effect. Num contexto de mobilidade suave, a bicicleta, apesar de ser pouco utilizada em países como Portugal, constitui um exemplo de mobilidade ativa, sendo amiga do ambiente e benéfica para a saúde do cidadão. Neste sentido, é de interesse público transmitir aos cidadãos uma mensagem sobre a importância da bicicleta e de como esta se pode tornar num meio de transporte público mais amigo do ambiente. Atualmente, a Internet e os smartphones estão cada vez mais inseridos na vida do ser humano. Por isso, a implementação de uma plataforma online (website e aplicação móvel) é crucial para o incentivo ao uso do velocípede. O projeto sobre o qual esta dissertação incide tem que ver com uma Plataforma de Reservas e Pagamentos associada a um sistema de Partilha de Bicicletas. De um modo geral, o objetivo deste trabalho passa pela criação de uma plataforma online que permita ao utilizador comprar um passe através do método de pagamentos PayPal, com vista a receber um código de resposta rápida (QR Code) que servirá de desbloqueio da bicicleta pretendida. Este projeto está dividido em duas partes: uma componente física relativa aos equipamentos utilizados e integrados na bicicleta, e uma componente virtual que providencia ao cidadão a sua interface de utilizador. Procurou-se adotar uma solução interativa e inovadora que procure simplificar tarefas e que seja estável. No que toca à componente física, foi utilizado um aloquete inteligente que só desbloqueia a bicicleta depois da exibição de um QR Code válido. Na continuação deste assunto, foi utilizado um microcontrolador, que através da sua câmara faz a leitura dos QR Codes. Além disto, foi implementado um sensor de distâncias laterais, que comunica com o microcontrolador, criando a possibilidade de alertar o ciclista sobre possíveis situações de perigo. Para efetuar a ligação entre a componente física e a componente virtual, foi utilizado um módulo de comunicações GPS+GSM/GPRS que comunica com o servidor através de conexões TCP/IP, por intermédio de um cartão SIM. O GPS é utilizado na recolha de coordenadas da bicicleta e providencia localizações em tempo real. A componente virtual desta dissertação caracteriza-se por um servidor remoto no qual estão inseridos ficheiros de linguagem de programação PHP, HTML, CSS e JavaScript. Os dados recolhidos e enviados pela componente móvel são armazenados numa base de dados MySQL, através de um servidor Apache. Dada esta conexão digital de objetos físicos do quotidiano com a Internet, o sistema é, por assim dizer, baseado num ambiente IoT. The bicycle, despite being rarely used in countries like Portugal, is an example of active mobility, being environmentally friendly and beneficial to the health of the citizen. In this sense, it is of the public interest to convey to citizens the message about the importance of cycling and how it can become a more environmentally friendly type of public transport. Currently, the Internet and smartphones are increasingly inserted in human life. Therefore, the implementation of an online platform (website and mobile application) is crucial to encourage the use of the bicycle. The project that this dissertation focuses on has to do with a Booking and Payments Platform associated with a Bike Sharing program. In general, the objective of this work is the creation of an online platform that allows the user to buy a pass through the PayPal payment method, in order to receive a quick response code (QR Code) that will serve to unlock the desired bicycle. This project is divided into two parts: a physical component related to the equipment used and integrated in the bicycle, and a virtual component that provides the citizen with its user interface. It was sought to adopt an interactive and innovative solution that seeks to simplify tasks. Regarding the physical component, a smart lock was used and it only unlocks the bicycle after the display of a valid QR Code. In the continuation of this matter, a microcontroller was used, which through its camera reads the QR Codes. In addition, a lateral distance sensor was implemented, which communicates with the microcontroller, creating the possibilty to alert the cyclist about possible danger situations. To make the connection between the physical component and the virtual component, a GPS+GSM/GPRS module was used that communicates with the server through TCP/IP connections, using a SIM card. GPS is used to collect bicycle coordinates and provides real-time locations. The virtual component of this dissertation is characterized by a remote server with programming languages like PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The data collected and sent by the mobile component is stored in a MySQL database, through an Apache server. Given this digital connection of everyday physical objects to the Internet, the system is based on an IoT environment. Mestrado em Engenharia Mecânica

- Abstract
Tracking fleets of vehicles is a widely used solution for increasing the efficiency of the management of group of vehicles. It is done by combining digital maps, mobile communications and embedded systems. A device for tracking a vehicle is mainly made of three parts: localization and positioning module, communication module and CPU module. A system for tracking vehicles receives data from many tracking devices, stores them in a database and displays the routes on existing digital maps. This paper presents a system for tracking a fleet of vehicles. The localization parameters along with status data form the CAN bus of the vehicle are sent via a GSM/GPRS network to a fixed server and, at the same time, are stored locally. Ovaj rad se bavi razvojem sustava za mjerenje mase, temperature i vlage košnice. Sustav je u potpunosti automatiziran te je realiziran korištenjem Arduino platforme i omogućuje da se mjereni podaci jednom dnevno odašilju korisniku putem SMS poruke i u bazu podataka. Odašiljanje podataka je omogućeno korištenjem GSM/GPRS mreže, odnosno korištenjem SIM800L modula. Kao krajnji rezultat projekta, omogućeno je lakše praćenje potrošnje i unosa meda u košnice, a svojim dizajnom se omogućuje dodatno proširenje projekta. This paper deals with the development of a system for measuring the mass, temperature, and humidity of the beehive. The system is fully automated and is realized using the Arduino platform and allows the measured data to be sent to the user once a day via SMS and in the database. Data transmission is enabled by using a GSM/GPRS network, i.e. by using the SIM800L module. As a final result of the project, it is easier to monitor the consumption and intake of honey in the beehives, and its design allows for further expansion of the project.

Na atualidade existe, em geral, um grande cuidado com a qualidade da água, tanto com a captada para consumo, como com a que provem de resíduos e é devolvida aos rios e mares. De modo a garantir a qualidade da água, são realizadas recolhas e executados testes ás suas características. A água para regadio não é exceção, pelo que a monitorização da sua qualidade é essencial. Pretende-se com a presente dissertação descrever o desenvolvimento de um protótipo para a monitorização da qualidade da água em canais de rega em tempo real, utilizando como referência os parâmetros indicados pelo Decreto Lei nº 236/1998, de 1 de agosto, em conjunto com as indicações prescritas pela FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) publicadas no seu guia de campo Water Quality for Agriculture. Os componentes que constituem o protótipo foram definidos através do levantamento do estado da arte, contemplando sistemas protótipos e comerciais. O sistema inclui sensores para medicação da temperatura da água, pH, medicação de caudal (instantâneo e acumulado) e sólidos dissolvidos totais. Adiciona-se sensores auxiliares, medicação da temperatura ambiente e humidade, para compensação das leituras dos parâmetros de pH e do caudal. Os sensores são controlados por um microcontrolador ESP32 com recurso a linguagem de programação Micropython. O protótipo é composto por dois nós, um emissor e um gateway. É utilizado o protocolo de comunicação LoRa entre nós e para a publicação e armazenamento dos dados na Internet recorre-se as comunicações LoRaWAN e GSM/GPRS.

El sistema propuesto, desarrollado en el Departamento de Ingeniería Electrónica de la Universidad de Sevilla, muestra la implementación de una maqueta de un sistema de seguridad para vehículos que emplea un teléfono móvil convencional como sistema de telecontrol, mejorando el proceso de enseñanza de los estudiantes y fomentando la participación de los mismos.

Успешно одређивање временског периода у коме су остварени услови за појаву болести и временског тренутка у коме је потребно обавити хемијске третмане представља комплексан проблем због сложености креирања предикционих модела чији је задатак дефинисање веза између појаве болести и тренутних метеоролошких услова. Тачност предикције времена хемијских третмана директно утиче на економичност пољопривредне производње и количине потребних пестицида, те доприноси заштити животне средине, као и здравијим пољопривредним производима. Спроведеним истраживањем је креирано софтверско решење, базирано на примени data mining техника и бежичних комуникационих система, чији је задатак прикупљање метеоролошких и просторно-временских параметара, на основу којих се врши предикција остварености услова за појаву биљних болести, а самим тим и предикција времена хемијских третмана. Развијено решење је затвореног типа, односно у оквиру истог се врши прикупљање потребних података, обрада података у циљу креирања предикционих модела и примена тих модела за предикцију времена хемијских третмана. Како би се утврдила тачност предикције, извршено је тестирање добијених предикционих модела за креиране скупове података. Закључено је да тачност предикције износи 93,71%, што оправдава коришћење система заснованог на data mining техникама и бежичним комуникационим системима за предикцију времена хемијских третмана.

Work is underway on issues associated with the development of tools and services to reduce energy consumption. Current trends suggest that energy consumption is increasing and carbon reserves are decreasing whilst green technologies for energy generation are yet to prove themselves. In industry, there are many legacy installations of equipment capable of transmitting their energy usage via the MODBUS protocol. Here we introduce a means of logging energy usage data and transmitting it to a database. The motivation is that making energy users aware of their consumption can help assist them in taking informed action towards the reduction of wasted energy. Thus, we offer a state-of-the-art of possible networking technologies, which have led to a real-world implementation. We present requirements whilst we mathematically model the compression technique. Home security system is needed for occupants' convenience and safety. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a low cost, low power consumption, and GSM/GPRS (Global System for Mobile Communication /General Packet Radio Service) based wireless home security system. The system is a wireless home network which contains a GSM/GPRS gateway and three kinds of wireless security sensor nodes that are door security nodes, infrared security nodes and fire alarm nodes. The nodes are easy installing. The system can response rapidly to alarm incidents and has a friendly user interface including a LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and a capacitive sensor keyboard. The wireless communication protocol between the gateway and the nodes is also suitable for other home appliances. Furthermore, some methods are taken to ensure the security of system information. En este trabajo se propone el diseño de un sistema que permite monitorizar, automatizar procesos y transmitir datos de un depósito de agua para consumo humano, típico de pequeñas poblaciones. La finalidad es poder tener un mayor control sobre el agua que se consume en un municipio, donde normalmente solo se recurre a controles periódicos de la calidad, que pueden ser semestrales e incluso anuales. Por un lado, se pretende poder conocer con mayor frecuencia parámetros como el nivel del depósito y el pH del agua, sin necesidad de estar en las instalaciones. De este modo se logra una monitorización remota que facilita en gran medida el acceso a la información. Por otro lado, se recurre al entorno Arduino como sistema de monitorización y automatización y se emplea la tecnología LoRa para poder tener acceso a los datos de forma remota. Para ello, se recurre a una metodología en cascada, donde partiendo de la contextualización del proyecto y del estudio de las tecnologías necesarias, se diseña el sistema, se construye el prototipo y se verifica su funcionamiento. Finalmente, una vez alcanzados los objetivos planteados inicialmente, se implementan mejoras como emplear LoRaWAN para subir los datos a TTN y añadir comunicaciones GSM/GPRS que permitan enviar mensajes de alarma, dando lugar a un sistema más completo que el inicialmente planteado. In this work, we propose the design of a system that allows monitoring, automate processing and transmiting data from a water tank for human consumption, typical of small populations. The purpose is to be able to have greater control over the water consumed in a municipality, where normally only recurrent quality controls are used, which can be semi-annual or even annual. On the one hand, it is intended to be able to know more frequently parameters such as the level of the tank and the pH of the water, without needing to be in the facilities. In this way, remote monitoring is achieved, which greatly facilitates access to information. On the other hand, the Arduino environment is used as a monitoring and automation system and the LoRa technology is used to access the data remotely. Then, a cascade methodology is used, that is, starting from the contextualization of the project and the study of the necessary technologies, the system is designed, the prototype is built and its operation verified. Finally, once the initial objectives have been achieved, some improvements are implemented, such as using LoRaWAN to upload the data to TTN and add GSM / GPRS communications that allow sending alarm messages, giving rise to a more complete system than initially proposed. En aquest treball es proposa el disseny d'un sistema que permet monitorar, automatitzar processos i transmetre dades d'un dipòsit d'aigua per a consum humà, típic de petites poblacions. La finalitat és poder tenir un major control sobre l'aigua que es consumeix en un municipi, on normalment només es recorre a controls periòdics de la qualitat, que poden ser semestrals i fins i tot anuals. D'una banda, es pretén poder conèixer amb major freqüència paràmetres com el nivell del dipòsit i el pH de l'aigua, sense necessitat d'estar en les instal·lacions. D'aquesta manera s'aconsegueix un monitoratge remot que facilita en gran manera l'accés a la informació. D'altra banda, es recorre a l'entorn Arduino com a sistema de monitoratge i automatització i s'empra la tecnologia LoRa per a poder tenir accés a les dades de manera remota. Per a això, es recorre a una metodologia en cascada, on partint de la contextualització del projecte i de l'estudi de les tecnologies necessàries, es dissenya el sistema, es construeix el prototip i es verifica el seu funcionament. O crescimento da industrialização e da urbanização nos últimos anos tem imposto grandes desafios no abastecimento de água às populações especialmente nos grandes aglomerados populacionais ou em extensas áreas geográficas, como é o município da Golegã. A crescente necessidade de monitorização e análise do funcionamento dos sistemas de tratamento e bombagem de águas, a redução de pessoal afeto aos serviços e a melhoria do serviço prestado à população, originou a necessidade de se criar e implementar um sistema inteligente de gestão e deteção de anomalias, eficiente, simples e preciso, tendo em conta uma gestão adequada dos recursos existentes. No final de 2017, o Município da Golegã decidiu apostar na inovação e desenvolvimento de novas soluções tecnológicas na rede de abastecimento de água. Numa reunião de trabalho o Engº Carlos Godinho (Vereador) e Engº Acácio (Chefe de Divisão) solicitaram que se fizesse uma atualização ao sistema de gsm existente no sistema de abastecimento de águas, que permitisse monitorizar falhas de energia, estado de funcionamento de motores ou órgãos de comando, estado de funcionamento de outros equipamentos, caudais e níveis de depósitos elevados. O novo sistema deveria também permitir o envio de sinais de alarme em caso de excesso de consumo, de forma a evitar ou minimizar falhas no sistema de abastecimento de águas da Golegã. No âmbito do Mestrado em Engenharia Informática – Internet das Coisas (IdC), foi proposta e desenvolvida uma nova solução tecnológica para responder aos desafios apresentados. A solução foi implementada tendo por base a utilização das novas técnicas de internet das coisas (IoT) e utilização de novos sistemas de comunicações sem fios. O novo sistema permite fazer um histórico dos dados, enviar alertas, gerar relatórios, analisar pontos críticos e outros indicadores de gestão. Os dados recolhidos e tratados serão de grande utilidade no dia-a-dia, pois ajudarão a organização a reduzir problemas e custos, e a maximizar a utilização dos sistemas, aumentando a fiabilidade e eficiência do sistemas e a redução de anomalias e falhas no abastecimento de água do Concelho da Golegã.

Cilj ovog rada je bio osmisliti sustav upravljanja parkirališnim rampama temeljen na platformi otvorenog koda. Sustav se sastoji od dvije rampe, jedna za ulaz, a druga za izlaz. Rampa ce se podići ako je primljen poziv na broj SIM kartice, smještene u GSM/GPRS modulu, od broja prethodno dodanog putem web aplikacije na listu korisnika kojima se dozvoljava korištenje sustava. Podizanje rampe se ostvaruje slanjem signala na jedan od digitalnih izlaza Industruina. Na web aplikaciji je moguće dodavanje i brisanje korisnika, kao i pregled informacija vezanih o vremenima ulaska i izlaska korisnika. The task of this paper was to design a parking ramp control system based on open-source development platform. The system consists of two parking ramps, one for entry and the other one for exit. Rising of the ramp will start if there is a incoming call to a SIM card number inside GSM/GPRS module and callers number is previously added to the list of users, that are allowed to use the parking system, via web application. Ramp movement is achieved by sending a signal to one of the digital outputs of Industruino. Adding and removing users from the list of users is possible with web application, as well as display of entry and exit time information for each user.

With the emergence of new technology and innovations, people are searching smarter ways to protect/monitor their properties remotely. In accordance to that, at present GPS based tracking system is frequently used in vehicle tracking, children/pet tracking, aircraft tracking, any personal belongings tracking, fleet management and so on. This paper introduces a Smart Anti-Theft Vehicle System based on Internet of Things (IoT) for monitoring the movement of any equipped vehicle from anywhere in real time. At the implementation of this system, Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM)/General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Microcontrollers are used to enable users for monitoring their vehicles in a convenient manner. This system provides the access to check the movement and control (emergency stop by closing the fuel line) vehicles remotely by using mobile application. The hardware prototype of the proposed system and the user application for monitoring and controlling vehicles are presented in this paper.

Nowadays many cases of theft of goods to transporters in our country are seen, this leads to heavy economic losses and to the dissatisfaction of the final consumer since the merchandise is not constantly monitored for a fast action in case of a theft. In addition, they reflect many cases of fines for overload faced by the owners of trucks because they do not know the weight carried by their vehicles continuously. It has been designed a prototype of a telemetry system capable of sensing the weight of the cargo (tolerance allowed) carried by a vehicle and sent that information to a server in the cloud for later monitoring from a web application. The system has a sensing stage, consisting of two metal arms, each one connected to an angular potentiometer that generates an analog signal proportional to the distance between the chassis and the rear axle of the vehicle. This signal varies when the vehicle is loaded or unloaded. The signal is received by a microcontroller that later transmit it through the RS232 protocol to a GSM / GPRS modem. The modem sends the signal, geographic coordinates and vehicle speed to a database in the cloud. Finally, the weight of the load was calculated, obtaining measurements with tolerances less or equal to 10% with the vehicle at rest. The weight calculation was performed in the sniffer of the web application through a calibration equation. This indication is continuously observed through web application, in addition to the location of the vehicle on a map and the graphical variation of the weight of the cargo transported. Also, the web application has the option of consulting historical and marking dispatch routes for monitoring the weight carried by the vehicle. Surveillance functions are executed when the vehicle stops within the previously marked route. Español:Hoy en día se ven muchos casos de robo de mercancías a camiones transportadores en nuestro país, esto conlleva a pérdidas económicas cuantiosas y a la insatisfacción del consumidor final ya que la mercancía no es monitoreada y vigilada constantemente para una rápida acción ante un caso de hurto. Además, se reflejan muchos casos de multas por sobrecarga que enfrentan los dueños de los camiones transportadores ya que no conocen el peso transportado por sus vehículos continuamente. Se ha diseñado un prototipo de un sistema de telemetría capaz de sensar el peso de la carga (tolerancia permitida) transportada por un vehículo y enviar esa información a un servidor en la nube para su posterior vigilancia desde una aplicación web. El sistema cuenta con una etapa de sensado, conformada por dos brazos metálicos, cada uno conectado a un potenciómetro angular que genere una señal analógica proporcional a la distancia entre el chasis y el eje trasero del vehículo. Dicha señal varía conforme se le monte y/o baje carga al vehículo. La señal es recibida por un microcontrolador que posteriormente la transmite a través del protocolo RS232 a un módem GSM/GPRS. El modem envía dicha señal, las coordenadas geográficas y la velocidad del vehículo a una base de datos en la nube. Finalmente, se calculó el peso de la carga, obteniendo mediciones con tolerancias menores o igual al 10% con el vehículo en reposo. El cálculo del peso se realizó en el sniffer de la aplicación web a través de una ecuación de calibración. Dicha indicación se observa continuamente en la aplicación web, junto con la ubicación del vehículo sobre un mapa y la variación gráfica del peso de la carga transportada. Además, la aplicación web cuenta con la opción de consultar históricos y de marcar rutas de despacho para la vigilancia del peso transportado por el vehículo. Las funciones de vigilancia se ejecutan cuando el vehículo se detiene dentro de la ruta previamente marcada.

35. Performance evaluation of GSM/GPRS networks with channel re-allocation scheme.

Previous work studying the channel allocation schemes in GSM/GPRS network commonly assume that one or two channels are required by a GPRS data for the sake of analytical simplicity. In this letter, we remove the assumption and generalize the GPRS data channel requirement (M channels). Additionally, we propose a channel re-allocation scheme (RAS), executed upon the channel release, by re-allocating the idle channels to the GPRS data which is currently using less than M channels. The example findings show that RAS can significantly decrease the voice call blocking probability and GPRS packet transmission time with slight channel utilization increase and negligible expense on GPRS packet blocking probability. Small M (e.g.M=2) will underestimate the performance achievements of the prior channel allocation scheme as well as RAS. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Esta red está constituida por nodos sensores, los cuales realizaran las mediciones; estos están conectados a través del protocolo ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4) con un nodo coordinador (estación base) el cual haciendo uso de la tecnología GSM/GPRS (Global System for Mobile Communications / General Packet Radio Service) envía la información recolectada por los nodos sensores hasta el servidor Web. El servidor gestiona el monitoreo de los sensores, los cuales son visibles en una aplicación Web, la cual permite mostrar la información capturada por la red de forma amigable y entendible al usuario final.

Actualmente la enseñanza relacionada con las tecnologías electrónicas de punta requiere acercar al alumno a sistemas cada vez más complejos como son las tecnologías de comunicaciones inalámbricas. Para conseguir este acercamiento se ha implementado un sistema prototipo hardware que incluye un procesador de arquitectura MIPS32 y módulos inalámbricos embebidos de tecnologías Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GSM/GPRS, ZigBee y GPS. Cuya función principal es monitorear el funcionamiento sincronizado de la comunicación entre los módulos inalámbricos. Por otro lado se ha elaborado una aplicación o Interfaz Gráfica de Usuario-GUI programada en la plataforma QT Creator v2.3 de código abierto que sirve para ingresar o recibir comandos de configuración o de datos de los módulos inalámbricos. El método de acercamiento que tiene el alumno con el sistema se realiza través de un manual de laboratorio cuyo contenido tiene una metodología activa de aprendizaje que comprende motivación, adquisición, transferencia y evaluación del conocimiento. ABSTRACTCurrently teaching related electronic technologies requires students to bring increasingly complex technologies such as wireless communications systems. To achieve this approach we have implemented a prototype system hardware that includes a MIPS32 processor architecture and technologies embedded wireless modules Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GSM / GPRS, ZigBee and GPS. Whose main function is to monitor the synchronized operation of the wireless communication between modules. On the other hand it has developed an application Graphical User Interface or GUI- programmed QT Creator v2.3 open source platform used to enter configuration commands or receive data or wireless modules. The method of approach that has the student with the system through a laboratory manual is made whose content has an active learning methodology comprising motivation, acquisition, transfer and evaluation of knowledge. Este trabajo consiste en el desarrollo e implementación de un sistema de adquisición y procesamiento de datos para una red WSN, la cual comunica los datos obtenidos de la red inalámbrica de sensores a un ordenador que recolecta los datos a través de la tecnología GSM/GPRS. Para ello se ha diseñado tanto el hardware y software del sistema receptor conectado al PC como el que permite al nodo coordinador de la WSN enviar los datos al sistema central de procesamiento. El dispositivo emisor que transmite los datos de la red debe adaptarse de manera adecuada al nodo sensor desarrollado en el GDE. El sistema receptor está formado por el hardware necesario para comunicar el módulo GSM/GPRS con un ordenador personal y por la fuente de alimentación del mismo. Además, se ha desarrollado un entorno gráfico en Matlab que realiza la interpretación de los datos y los muestra en pantalla en tiempo real.

This work deals with a telemetry system for agricultural mechanization, using GSM / GPRS and ZigBee Radio Frequency. The whole system is a mechanism for collecting and transmitting data at one point moving to a fixed basis, with a system integration and validation. The system gives priority to transmit GSM / GPRS, permitting as an alternative transmission over ZigBee, controlled common mechanism for failure detection, in case of loss of the GSM / GPRS connection the alternative transmission begins, as the system tries to establish a new connection with the priority transmission , thus making the transmission system redundant. The results were satisfactory as the system ensured the transmission of data with fault tolerance and redundantly in remote locations and different reliefs. O presente trabalho aborda a pesquisa e o desenvolvimento de um sistema de telemetria para a mecanização agrícola e utiliza tecnologia de transmissão de dados sobre telefonia móvel, GSM/GPRS e Rádio Frequência, através do Zigbee. O sistema como um todo consiste em um mecanismo de coleta e transmissão de dados em um ponto móvel para uma base fixa, com uma forma de integração e validação dos dados. O sistema dá prioridade para a transmissão GSM/GPRS e deixa como alternativa a transmissão por ZigBee, controlado por um mecanismo de detecção de falhas que, em caso de perda da conexão do GSM/GPRS, começa a transmissão alternativa, enquanto o sistema tenta restabelecer uma conexão com a transmissão prioritária e torna o sistema de transmissão redundante. Os resultados alcançados foram satisfatórios pois o sistema garantiu a transmissão dos dados com tolerância a falhas e de forma redundante em locais remotos e de relevos diferenciados.

Personal authentication is an important process we encounter almost every day; when we are logging on a computer, entering a company where we work, or a restricted area, when we are using our plastic credit cards to pay for a service or to complete some other financial transaction, etc. In each of these processes of personal authentication some kind of magnetic or optical token is required. But by using novel technologies like mobile computing and wireless networking, it is possible to avoid carrying multitude of ID cards or remembering a number of PIN codes. Article shows how to efficiently authenticate users via Personal Area Networks (PAN) like Bluetooth or IrDA using commonplace AES (Rijndel) or MD5 encryption. Specific types of distributed measurement and virtual instrumentation systems periodically acquire data from a large number of geographically distributed field terminal devices. Such systems are used in environmental monitoring or in monitoring of various commonalities such as electrical power distribution, gas or water networks. In this article we present a framework for low data rate, highly distributed measurement systems based on the publicly available GSM and GPRS services. By using the framework, it is possible to build a system which is capable to perform local measurements on a large number of geographically distributed measurement points, to collect measured data by using the mobile network, to store them on the server computer and to publish gathered data by providing XML web services interface. The framework is robust, scalable and suited for long-term autonomous operation. The tests showed that the framework is stable and operates properly.

- Abstract
The following article presents an innovative model of lagrangian drifter for coastal applications. Its geometry has been designed to improve three mains aspects over other existing coastal drifters: maximizing experiment life, reducing the influence of the wind drag and maximizing its vertical stability. The electronics is also a non-conventional part of the design as it has not been design on purpose, but it has been chosen from the big variety of GPS trackers existing in the market able to carry out GSM/GPRS communications with a server. This way of approaching the election of the electronics facilitates its accomplishment with industry and electronic standards.

V poslední době se stále více objevují různé aplikace zařízení zvaných GSM/GPRS Moduly. Je to logické, jelikož tyto moduly, jak už z názvu vyplývá pracují v síti GSM, jsou mobilní a nabízejí další klíčové vlastnosti jako GPS přijímač, podporu rychlých datových přenosů GPRS/EDGE, rozhraní I/O a jiné. Lehkou úvahou můžeme na několik z mnoha možných aplikací přijít sami. Sledování motorových vozidel, bezpečnostní systémy, systémy pro řízení prakticky čehokoliv, co by uživatel mohl chtít aktivovat a ovládat na dálku, například pomocí krátké textové zprávy atd. Tato práce se zabývá návrhem a implementací souboru tříd, které by na těchto modulech ulehčovali vývoj koncových softwarových řešení v Jazyce Java ME., Nowadays we often hear about application of devices so-called wireless GSM/GPRS modules. It's uderstandable, because these modules works in GSM network, are portable and often ofers other key features like GPS receiver, support of fast internet connection GPRS/EDGE, many I/O interfaces etc. We can easily imagine few of many possible applications by ourselves. Car tracking, security systems, controling of anything, what could user possibly want to activate and control remotely, perhaps using short message and so on. El sistema propuesto, desarrollado en el Departamento de Ingeniería Electrónica de la Universidad de Sevilla, muestra la implementación de una maqueta de un sistema de seguridad para vehículos que emplea un teléfono móvil convencional como sistema de telecontrol, mejorando el proceso de enseñanza de los estudiantes y fomentando la participación de los mismos. This paper describes the introduction of these three technological blocks of knowledge in practical teaching of technical studies particularized over a electronic instrumentation lab. The proposed system, developed by the department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Seville, shows the implementation of an automotive security system scale model which employs a convectional cellular phone as a telecontrol system, improving the learning process of the students and fomenting the students´ participation.

Internet of Things technologies makes it possible to trace when and where the excellent food or wine is spoiled or loses perfect taste in logistics and retail. This paper describes a system using a two-layered wireless sensor network to monitor the supply chain from manufacturer to consumer, including the network topology, application software on server, and sensor node hardware. It employs GSM/GPRS as the high layer network and semi impulse ultra-wideband radio (IR-UWB) for the low layer communication. We propose GSM Cell-ID location technology for tracking the goods transportation, and time-of-arrival method for local positioning. Razvojem bežičnih komunikacijskih tehnologija omogućena je primjena nekoliko sustava za prijenos podataka u kojima korisnik može biti mobilan. U radu je dana analiza bežičnih lokalnih mreža u funkciji operatera prometnih sustava. Postoje dvije topologije bežičnih LAN - ova: neovisna i infrastrukturna. Neovisna topologija podržava povezivanje stanica na načelu ravnopravnosti pri čemu pokrenuti čvorovi komuniciraju jedni s drugima koristeći bežične dadptere. U infrastrukturnom LAN - u moguće je primijeniti centralizirani ili decentralizirani višestruki pristup. Bežične LAN - ove WLAN možemo podijeliti u tri skupine: infracrveni ( IR - Infrared ), LAN - ovi s proširenim spektrom ( SS - Spread Spectrum ) i radio LAN. Za bežični LAN od komponenata se koriste: mrežne kartice, AP ( Access Point ) i antenski sustavi. Snaga EM zračenja opada s udaljenošću od odašiljača. Gubitak snage uslijed prostiranja slijedi približno eksponencijalni zakon. Primjenom bežičnih mreža moguće je jednostavnije povezati udaljene prometne objekte, ali i ponuditi nove usluge sudionicima u prometnom procesu. Uvođenjem novih bežičnih komunikacijskih tehnologija ističe se i problem onečišćenja okoliša elektromagnetskim zračenjima različitih izvora, nazvanog elektrosmog.
