Washed sperm cells from rabbits were incubated with rabbit semen antiserum at titers of 1:640 to 1:16,000, which was produced in seven rabbits. Normal serum from six rabbits provided controls. A total of 28 suspensions were studied to determine O2consumption and lactic acid production of the sperm. In addition, both washed sperm cells and whole semen from rabbits were incubated with five specimens of the oviductal fluid of an immunized female rabbit. This fluid had a titer of 1:240. Values for O2consumption and lactic acid production of sperm in these fluids were compared with those obtained from sperm in five normal oviductal fluids, and five fluids from three additional animals which were immunized, but showed no antibody in their oviductal fluids. A total of 15 suspensions was studied. In immune serum, glycolysis of washed sperm cells was inhibited proportionately to serum titer; sperm respiration was also significantly depressed. In immune oviductal fluid of low titer glycolysis was not affected, but sperm respiration was significantly depressed.
