Background: Adult-led organized settings for children (eg, classrooms) provide opportunities for physical activity (PA). The structure of setting time may influence inequalities (ie, unequalness) in the distribution of PA. This study examined differences in PA inequality by setting and time-segment purpose in time-segmented organized group settings for children. Methods: PA and setting meetings were assessed using accelerometer and video observation data from school, before-/after-school, and youth club groups (n = 30) for third- through sixth-grade children (n = 699) in 2 rural US communities. Meetings (n = 130) were time-segmented into smaller units (sessions; n = 835). Each session was assigned a purpose code (eg, PA). Accelerometer data were paired with the meetings and sessions, and the Gini coefficient quantified inequality in activity counts and moderate to vigorous PA minutes for each segment. Beta generalized estimating equations examined differences in PA inequality by setting and session purpose. Results: Activity count inequality was lowest (P <.05) during youth club meetings (Gini = 0.17, 95% CI, 0.14–0.20), and inequality in moderate to vigorous PA minutes was greatest (P <.01) during school (Gini = 0.34, 95% CI, 0.30–0.38). Organized PA sessions (Gini = 0.20, 95% CI, 0.17–0.23) had lower activity count inequality (P <.0001) than academic (Gini = 0.30, 95% CI, 0.27–0.34), enrichment (Gini = 0.31, 95% CI, 0.27–0.36), and nonactive recreation (Gini = 0.30, 95% CI, 0.25–0.34) sessions. Inequality in moderate to vigorous PA minutes was lower (P <.05) in organized PA (Gini = 0.26, 95% CI, 0.20–0.32) and free play (Gini = 0.28, 95% CI, 0.19–0.39) than other sessions. Conclusions: PA inequality differed by setting time structure, with lower inequality during organized PA sessions. The tourism sector is one of the fastest-growing services sub-sectors worldwide and promises to unlock job opportunities and improve social inclusion outcomes in developing countries. We focused on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, which houses developing countries with high income inequality and constitutes attractive tourist centres in sub-Saharan Africa. We employed both the disaggregated and composite indicators of tourism development to investigate the tourism-income inequality nexus in the SADC region from 2010 to 2019. Utilizing the panel quantile regression approach, our overall results suggest that tourism development is inequality-worsening, and this is robust to both the composite tourism index and the individual tourism indicators (except in a few instances). While we established that net FDI inflows improve the inequality outcomes in the region, less corruption worsens inequality (except in a few cases). This paper tries to investigate the question of whether the poverty ratio across Indian states is converging in the post-2000s. We addressed this question of spatial convergence of the poverty ratio using unconditional convergence over the period 2004–05 to 2018–19 for 18 major states of India, considering both rural and urban regions. We used the unit-level data of NSSO’s Consumer Expenditure Surveys (CES) for the 61st, 68th and PLFS 2018–19 rounds for the analysis. Besides, we try to assess the driving factors of poverty through a panel regression model. The results reveal that in the first period from 2004–05 to 2011–12, Indian states experienced a divergence in the overall poverty ratio and rural poverty. However, the second period, 2011–12 to 2018–19, witnessed no specific trend of convergence or divergence across states. Again, in the case of urban poverty, there is no particular pattern of poverty convergence or divergence during both periods. The study shows that the Gini coefficient, educational expenditure, household size, infant mortality, literacy rate, MPCE, primary-sector income and per capita power availability are the significant determinants of poverty in India. Despite the increase of the share of highly-educated women, gender wage gap remains an ongoing issue in developing countries. The increase in women's education would provide them with more job opportunities resulting in higher employment rate amongst women and, thus, lower gender pay gap. In Palestine, the share of women with high education is 62% while their labor force participation rate is only 18%. This paper examines the effects of gender higher education on wage inequality in the Palestinian context. The study applied the Mincer equation to study the determinants of wage, while the decomposed Gini coefficient is used to measure the contribution of education and other factors to overall wage inequality. The study used data from the labor force survey (LFS) which is conducted by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) covering the period from 2010 to 2020. Results show that those with higher education have relatively higher wages as compared to those with only high education or with school education. Results also show that gender wage inequality has increased during the study period (2010–2020), but the contribution of both gender and education differences to the overall wage inequality has decreased. In general, the gender pay gap remains a crucial issue in the Palestinian context with a persisting decreasing pay gap over time across all education levels. Policymakers shall orient efforts towards investing in women's education, thus increasing their empowerment in the labor market, which in turn would improve the level of development and economic growth in the country. As the global economy, society, and environment are undergoing profound changes and the realization of sustainable development has become the common aspiration of the international community, ecological civilization construction has become an increasingly important issue for China to formulate its long-term development strategies and promote modernization. This study analyzes the characterization of 655 established pilot zones of ecological civilization construction and 'clear waters and green mountains are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver' innovative practices from 2017 to 2022. The spatial distribution of ecological civilization areas in China follows a pattern where more regions are in the southeast than in the northwest (Hu Line). The focus of China's comprehensive ecological civilization construction has been towards the southwest in the first year and has subsequently shifted towards the northwest. The overall Gini coefficient decreased from 0.494 to 0.299, and regional ecological civilization disparities gradually narrowed. Currently, regional construction disparities between the eastern and western regions are a major obstacle to balanced development; therefore, promoting coordinated regional development is necessary. Various factors affecting the pattern of ecological civilization construction, including natural resources, economic development, social progress, policies, and culture, were identified. The availability of natural resources and economic development cause regional differences in construction levels. This research will help promote the coordinated development of Chinese ecological civilization, while the development experiences of different regions can also provide guidance for sustainable development in developing countries. Although China's carbon emission trading schemes (CETS) garnered significant attention in the field of climate mitigation, limited data availability has hindered exploration into the impact of CETS on economic inequality at the county level in China. Given its potential to facilitate industrial upgrading and generate employment opportunities, the adoption of CETS holds promise for reducing economic inequality. To address data limitations, we employed a combination of gridded nighttime light data and land use data to estimate China's county-level Dagum Gini coefficient and its components. Subsequently, we applied a difference-in-difference-in-difference method to examine how CETS affected economic inequalities between and within urban and rural areas in China. Our findings reveal that: (1) CETS significantly reduced overall economic inequality in counties with a high proportion of secondary industry output; (2) this reduction primarily occurred within urban and rural areas rather than between them. Further heterogeneity analysis demonstrates that while CETS effectively mitigated economic inequality between urban and rural areas in central and western regions, it did not achieve similar outcomes in the eastern region; (3) service industry development and rural GDP per capita served as important channels through which CETS reduced economic inequality within rural areas. Infrastructure development driven by CETS primarily addressed economic inequality within urban areas rather than rural areas. Key policy insights: It is confirmed that China's CETS made a significant contribution to mitigating economic inequalities within urban and rural areas. This empirical evidence provides new decision-making support for the future promotion of CETS at the county level. It is recommended to propose higher quotas for service industries in rural areas and allocate a portion of revenue from carbon emission trading markets to promote entrepreneurship among rural residents and support upgrades in the rural industrial structure. Considering that the infrastructure development driven by CETS has predominantly addressed economic inequality within urban areas rather than rural areas, it is imperative to allocate a greater proportion of revenue from CETS towards supporting rural infrastructure construction. Demographic ageing has influenced the well-being of the population. Issues that need to be addressed in terms of generating vulnerability in older adults (aged 60+) include social exclusion. Using the longitudinal Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE), this study proposes a measure of social exclusion among older adults represented by five underlying dimensions: exclusion from material resources, from social relationships, from basic services, from participation in civic activities and from neighbourhoods. This measure is then associated with individual and collective factors using a multilevel linear regression model, which captures differences between countries and individuals over three years. The main results indicate that being female, having a high level of education, and living in an urban area are significant factors in the risk of social exclusion. Additionally, trust in government has a negative association while the Gini coefficient variable and belonging to Southern and Eastern European countries have positive associations. These regions are characterised by a more family-based, dependent culture, but exclusion in old age is also reflected in different political, historical, and socio-cultural contexts over time, which makes older people less likely to be socially excluded today. Early Southern Mesopotamia shows a complex history of expansion of (irrigated) farming in relation to urban developments and changing landscapes. As a first step to study expanding irrigated farming system, an irrigation-related agent-based model was developed to explore farm(land)s and irrigation systems in relation to decision-making processes, both of farms and their farmlands (an agriculture unit) and collective decision-making processes for irrigation system management—especially sharing water between farms. The decision-making processes include options to move farms, expand the system, or start a new system, as these would be options available for Mesopotamian farmers as well. In this text, we report how model parameters contribute to the generation of various patterns of yields and expansion of farms and system. Additionally, the Gini coefficient (based on yields) is applied to estimate levels of inequality among farmers. Our results show how (1) human decision-making determines the level of influence of and benefits for farms, as well as the overall irrigation system; (2) Gini values effectively capture the degree of inequality in yields among farms based on water availability; and (3) our model is a suitable base for further study, by incorporating additional agents into the irrigation system and expanding the spatial–temporal scales of the irrigated landscapes, to reach a more comprehensive understanding of the evolutionary dynamics of irrigation systems in Southern Mesopotamia. Damming can promote flood control, water supply, power generation, and shipping but often changes the downstream hydrological regimes, producing adverse externality effects. Maximizing downstream social and ecological benefits will inevitably reduce upstream power generation. This study presents two novel bi-level hybrid game models, called the non-cooperative hybrid game model (NCHG) and the cooperative hybrid game model (CHG), to facilitate integrated water resource management in reservoir systems. The performance index of propensity to disrupt is applied to evaluate the stability of CHG, and an improved reliability index and Gini coefficient are adopted to evaluate the reliability and equity of both two models. The Three Gorges Reservoir and its adjacent cities were chosen as a case to inspect the two models' performance. A range of scheduling schemes was derived by proposed bi-level hybrid game models in wet, normal, and dry years. Results reveal that (i) the RI values of the watershed system obtained by the CHG are less than those in NCHG in three typical years (for example, 0.1201 VS 0.1930 in the wet year), showing higher systemic reliability. The Gini coefficients of the watershed system obtained by the CHG are all less than those obtained by the NCHG in all typical years (for example, 0.1016 VS 0.1020 in the wet year), which shows better performance of CHG on fairness for the allocation results; (ii) in the case of a multi-function reservoir system, the CHG generates favorable allocation schemes with higher systemic characteristic values by 32.43, 34.39, and 33.54 in wet, normal, and dry years, respectively, than those in NCHG (32.03, 33.16, and 31.42 in wet, normal, and dry years, respectively); (iii) compared with NCHG, the economic benefits obtained by CHG decreased by 0.98%, 1.04%, and 5.42% in wet, normal, and dry years, respectively; the social negative benefits decreased by 3.49%, 9.84%, and 28.69%; and the ecological negative benefits decreased by 1.77%, 5.65%, and 5.59%, respectively. It indicates that a minor sacrifice of the reservoir benefit could significantly improve the welfare at the system level by the CHG. The developed CHG can provide optimal water scheduling schemes in balancing inter-regional water conflicts and can be widely used to produce an equilibrium management strategy for a multi-function reservoir system. While police officers must adapt behavior between places to effectively do their jobs, these decisions could result in some communities receiving different levels of exposure to the police. This study explores a new spatial measure of police contacts to observe these differences. We calculate neighborhood-specific Gini coefficients based upon the spatial distribution of 77,752 police-civilian stops at street segments and intersections nested within census tracts in Oakland, California. This coefficient presents a contrast between two divergent distributional patterns—the diffusion of police contacts to more places across neighborhoods and the concentration of contacts at fewer "hot spot" places within neighborhoods. The most consistent environmental explanation for these differences was the race/ethnicity of neighborhood residents, which was associated with the police stopping people across more places. Future research should continue to investigate this finding and examine the mechanisms that explain why spatial exposure to police contacts changes between places. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Exploring the regional differences and convergence of urban land green use efficiency (ULGUE) is of great significance for urban green development and the goal of carbon neutrality. Based on the panel data of 282 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2019, this paper uses the SBM-Undesirable model to calculate ULGUE in China, then uses Dagum Gini coefficient decomposition, coefficient of variation and panel data model to reveal the regional differences and convergence of ULGUE. The results show that ULGUE in China increased from 0.441 to 0.555 in 2006–2019. The number of cities in the medium–low efficiency range is dominant, accounting for more than 54%. There are differences in ULGUE among the three major regions, which shows the distribution pattern of west > east > central. ULGUE in China has significant spatial agglomeration characteristics, and its overall, intra-regional and inter-regional differences show a downward trend. Over-variable density is the main source of the overall difference, with an average contribution rate of 49.71%. ULGUE across the country and in the three regions of east, central and west in China exist significant σ convergence, absolute β and conditions β convergence. The research results are helpful to objectively evaluate ULGUE in China, and provide decision-making reference for promoting the green, low-carbon and sustainable use of urban land and achieving the goal of carbon neutrality. Objectives: This study aims to measure the effect of Construction of Healthcare Consortium (CHC) on the allocation and equity of human resources (HR) for primary health care (PHC) in China, at the same time, it provides some data to support the government's policies improvement in the next stage. Methods: Changes in the equity of allocation of HR for PHC by population are demonstrated through a three-stage approach to inequality analysis that includes the Gini coefficient (G), the Theil index (T), the Concentration index (CI) and Concentration curves. Trends in resource allocation from 2021 to 2030 were projected using the GM (1, 1) model. Results: The average rate of growth in volume of HR for PHC accelerates following the release of CHC in the 2016. Whilst some regions have seen their G and T rise between 2012 and 2016, their levels of inequality of allocation for resource shave gradually declined in the years following 2016, but there are exceptions, with the regions of northeast and northwest seeing the opposite. Eastern and northern region accounted for a larger contribution to intra-regional inequality. Concentration index and concentration curves indicate HR for PHC is related to economic income levels. GM (1, 1) projects a growing trend in allocation of resources from 2021 to 2030, but different regions differ in the average rate of growth of resources. Conclusions: The inequality of HR for PHC in China is low, however, the inequality between regions has not been eliminated. We still need to take a long-term view to monitor the impact of CHC on the allocation of HR for PHC and its equity in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Green manufacturing has become a necessary way to promote new industrialization and realize the high-quality development of China's manufacturing industry. Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2012 to 2022, this paper constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system for the green manufacturing development level and introduces the TOPSIS- Gray correlation method to comprehensively measure the green manufacturing development level of China as a whole and the four major regions in the eastern, central, western, and northeastern parts of the country. The regional differences, distribution dynamics and evolutionary trends of China's green manufacturing development level are also explored with the help of the Gini coefficient, kernel density estimation and Markov chain methods. Research Findings: (1) The green manufacturing development level in China is on an upward trend, with an overall spatial distribution pattern of "East is superior and West is inferior". (2) There are regional differences in the green manufacturing development level in China, and the differences are widening, with interregional differences being the main reason for this overall difference. (3) The country as a whole, the central region and the western region are polarized to varying degrees, with the rest of the country showing an improvement in polarization. (4) Without considering spatial factors, the development of green manufacturing in each province experiences "club convergence" in the short term, and it is difficult to realize rapid development. Considering spatial factors, China's green manufacturing development level is generally characterized by "elevated in proximity to high levels and suppressed in proximity to low levels", and in the long run, it shows a distribution trend toward the concentration of high values. The coupling coordination of digitalization and green development has become an inevitable requirement for building a new development pattern and achieving high-quality development of China's economy. Based on the panel data of 284 Chinese cities from 2011 to 2021, this study uses the coupling coordination degree model, Dagum Gini coefficient, spatial convergence, Markov transfer probability matrix, and panel Tobit model to quantitatively analyze the spatial–temporal evolution characteristics and influencing factors of the coupling coordination degree of digitization and green development. The study results show that the coupling coordination degree (CCD) of digitalization and green development has an overall increasing trend during the study period, and the eastern region is higher than other regions which showing spatial non-equilibrium characteristics. The spatial difference of the CCD continues to downward, and inter-regional differences are the main source of the CCD. In the long run, there is a "catch-up effect" between cities with low CCD and those with high CCD, and the CCD of digitalization and green development will tend to a steady state. The transfer type of the CCD has the characteristics of "club convergence", the probability of maintaining the original state is high, and the overall CCD shows a good development trend in the future. Factors such as environmental regulation, green innovation, industrial structure upgrading and financial efficiency can significantly contribute to the CCD of digitalization and green development. Exploring the coupling coordination degree (CCD) between digital village construction (DVC) and agricultural carbon emissions (ACE) is crucial for promoting village revitalization and sustainable agricultural development. Analyzing data from 30 provinces in China in 2011–2020, this paper employs the CCD model, the Dagum Gini coefficient, and the geographic detector for in-depth analysis. The results show that the overall level of CCD gradually increases over time, but the national CCD still remains in a state of "low coordination," and there are apparent spatial differences in the CCD among provinces. In addition, the overall difference in CCD shows a decreasing trend, and the contribution of inter-regional differences has gradually become the most critical source of CCD's regional difference. Finally, the spatial differences of CCD are the result of two-factor interaction, among which the innovation level is the most core driving factor. The above findings provide important implications for China and other developing countries to fully leverage the interaction between village digitalization and agricultural decarbonization to promote sustainable agricultural development. Food security is one of the important issues in the current world development process. The article takes 31 provinces (districts and cities) in China as the research object and constructs a multidimensional food security level evaluation index system from four dimensions: quantitative security, nutritional security, ecological security, and capacity security. Using the entropy method, China's food security index was calculated for the ten-year period from 2013 to 2022. Overall, China's food security level showed an upward trend during the decade, with the provinces of Shandong, Heilongjiang, and Henan having the highest level of security. The distribution dynamics of food security and its spatiotemporal evolution in the seven regions were examined using the Dagum Gini coefficient and its decomposition, and the absolute and conditional convergence of food security in the different areas was verified. The results of the study show that the provinces within East China have the largest gap in food security levels between them, and there is absolute β-convergence. Looking at China as a whole, the development of its food security level is characterized by significant convergence, which means that provinces with a low level of food security will have a faster rate of growth than those with a high level of food security, resulting in a gradual narrowing of the gap in food security levels between provinces. Green innovation plays a pivotal role in fostering sustainable and robust economic growth. Hence, it is of great practical significance to accurately assess green innovation efficiency and analyze its evolving trends and discrepancies from a spatiotemporal dynamic perspective. This study analyzes the green innovation efficiency across 30 provinces in China from 2001 to 2019 using the Super-SBM model, Dagum Gini coefficient, Kernel density estimation, and convergence models. The results reveal a consistent enhancement in China's green innovation efficiency, yet substantial room for further improvement persists, standing at 0.679 in 2019. Both China as a whole and its four major regions exhibit a polarisation trend in green innovation efficiency, characterised by notable internal disparities, albeit displaying a declining pattern. Interregional divergence is the primary source of the overall disparity, followed by intraregional disparities and the intensity of transvariation. China's green innovation efficiency demonstrates sigma and beta convergence trends. The study also highlights how uneven regional development and resource allocation disparities lead to an imbalanced convergence of regional green innovation efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Physical health is fundamental to a country's socio-economic advancement. An in-depth exploration of the spatial distribution and dynamic evolution of national physical fitness across China is crucial for enhancing the country's overall physical health. This study aims to provide valuable insights into the geographical and temporal patterns of physical fitness, informing strategies for national physical fitness improvement. Methods: Employing data from China's national physical fitness monitoring of 31 provinces, cities, and districts for the years 2005, 2010, and 2015, this study utilizes the Gini coefficient, its decomposition, and nonparametric density estimation methods. These techniques are applied to analyze the spatial disparities and temporal trends in national physical fitness levels among different demographics, including the overall population, males, females, and urban and rural residents. Results: The study reveals that the regional disparity in China's national physical fitness initially narrowed and then expanded across the general population, females, and in both urban and rural areas, while consistently increasing among males. In terms of geographical distribution, the East, Middle, and West regions show significant heterogeneity, with the East-West gap being the most pronounced (Gini coefficients of 0.0249, 0.0230, 0.0263). The contribution rate of regional gaps was highest (54.40% -64.69%), followed by regional disparities (24.78% -27.15%), and the contribution of hypervariable density difference was the smallest (10.53% -19.75%). Despite a slight improvement in overall national physical fitness, the absolute regional disparities have further widened. Conclusions: Provinces with lower levels of national physical fitness demonstrate a 'club convergence' trend, indicating regional clustering of similar fitness levels. Additionally, a 'catch-up effect' is evident in rural areas, particularly in provinces with historically lower levels of national physical fitness. In the context of the ongoing process of high-quality development in the new era, which is focused on improving total factor productivity, it is of great importance to explore the spatial and temporal variations of total factor productivity growth and its driving factors in China's county regions' grain cultivation industry. This paper employs a three-stage DEA-Malmquist productivity method, the Gini coefficient method, and a panel fixed-effects model to analyze data from Chinese counties between 2009 and 2019. The analysis indicates that the growth of county food total factor productivity (FTFP) exhibits a fluctuating upward trend during the examination period, with an average annual growth rate of 2.43%. This is primarily driven by technological progress, yet the core driving role of technological efficiency is not effectively played. The average annual growth rate of county FTFP varies across different regions. The highest average annual growth rate of county FTFP in the eastern region and the primary grain-producing area is 2.75 and 3.04%, respectively. The lowest growth rates were observed in the western region and the main grain marketing area, at 1.44 and 1.23%, respectively. Secondly, the Gini coefficient of county FTFP continues to demonstrate a persistent upward trend during the examination period, with an average annual growth rate of 14.729%. The primary factor contributing to the observed variation in total factor productivity growth of the food sector at the regional level is the existence of disparate technological progress. Thirdly, there is a notable positive correlation between county financial deepening and financial self-sufficiency rates and county FTFP growth, with impact coefficients of 0.0503 and 0.0924, respectively. Conversely, county population density, degree of economic development, farmers' income level, and industrial structure exert a significant negative influence on county FTFP growth and technological progress. Objective To analyze the status and equity of health human resources allocation within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCs) in Jiangsu Province from 2012 to 2021. Methods The study employed the Gini coefficient, Theil index, healtli human resource density, and the grey GM (1,1) model for comprehensive evaluation on the allocation and equity of health human resources. Results From 2012 to 2021, Jiangsu CDCs witnessed an average annual growth rate of health human resources of 3.94%. The grey GM (1,1) model projected an average annual growth rate of 0.41% from 2022 to 2026. The proportion of personnel holding masterJ s degrees or above and senior professional titles increased by 110% and 593%, respectively. The Gini coefficient ranged between 0.098 and 0.133 in terms of population distribution and between 0.197 and 0,241 in geographical distribution. The health human resources density index showed a year-on-year increase. The Theil index revealed that the contribution rate of inter-group differences in geographical distribution exceeded that of intragroup differences, while the opposite was observed for the population dimension. Conclusion Health human resources in Jiangsu CDCs have consistently grown with improvements in overall quality, structured staffing, and enhanced allocation levels. However, challenges include non-standard overall configurations, pronounced aging among grassroots CDC teams, inefficient management personnel deployment, and regional allocation imbalances. Policy efforts are needed to enhance position attractiveness, optimize talent structure, and coordinate regional health human resource planning to mitigate regional disparities. Based on the fifth and sixth national census data and the seventh national census bulletin of administrative regions at the prefecture level and above, the Gini coefficient, Theil index, spatial autocorrelation analysis and other methods are used to analyze the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of talent agglomeration in Chinese cities from 2000 to 2020, and the multiscale geographically weighted regression is used to study the spatial heterogeneity and spatial scale of the influencing factors of talent agglomeration. The results show that: ①There is a large gap in the distribution of talents in eastern, central, and western cities in China, forming a distribution pattern of "strong in the east and weak in the central and west" and regional "one super and many strong", and the gap in average talent density tends to narrow. ②The distribution of talents shows great imbalance, with a slight weakening trend of instability. ③On the whole, the density of talents presents a significant positive spatial autocorrelation, and the spatial ag‐ glomeration effect of talents is becoming more and more significant. Locally, the Yangtze River Delta high-high talent agglomeration area and the Pearl River Delta high-high talent agglomeration area are gradually formed; the low-level talent agglomeration area composed of low-low talent agglomeration cities will have a homogeneous impact on its neighboring cities; some provincial capital cities in the west have significant high-low agglomeration characteristics, forming a "center-periphery" talent agglomeration pattern. ④The proportion of tertiary industry in GDP, the proportion of science and education expenditure in total fiscal expenditure, per capita GDP, the number of general higher education institutions, per capita public library collections, and the number of public transportation vehicles per 10 000 people have a significant positive impact on talent agglomeration, and the intensity of the impact decreases in order. Among them, the eco‐ nomic environment factor represented by the tertiary industry's share of GDP and per capita GDP has a relatively small spatial scale and strong spatial heterogeneity. We develop a general equilibrium model of a small open economy with performance-pay worker compensation and occupational choice. We analytically and numerically examine the distributional effects of entrepreneurial talent and performance-pay contracts. Risk-neutral, more talented individuals become entrepreneurs, inducing workers to exert effort through incentive contracts. Entrepreneurial talent and worker effort significantly influence income inequality through complex general equilibrium channels. Economies with higher tariffs, more entrepreneurs, less skilled or more heterogeneous workers, and economies without worker effort, display higher income inequality measured by the top one percent income share and the Gini Coefficient. [Objective] The aims of this study are to explore the coupling and coordination of environmental protection and economic development in the Yellow River Basin and its influencing factors, so as to provide a theoretical reference for the high-quality development of the whole basin. [Methods] Based on the coupling coordination model, Dagum Gini coefficient, Markov chain and geographically weighted regression model, the spatiotemporal coupling dynamic evolution of carbon reduction-pollution reduction-green expansion- economic growth in the Yellow River Basin from 2009 to 2020 and its influencing factors were studied and analyzed. [Results] (1) The coupling coordination degree of carbon reduction-pollution reduction-green expansion-economic growth in the Yellow River Basin showed generally a fluctuating upward trend. The coupling coordination degree was the largest in the lower reaches, followed by the middle reaches, and the least in the upper reaches. (2) The intraregional gap in the coupling coordination level of the upper reaches was significantly higher than that in the middle and lower reaches of the region. The gap between regions followed the order: upper and middle upper and lower middle and lower. The gap among regions and intensity of transvariation was the major source of the overall gap. (3) The coupling coordination degree of carbon reduction-pollution reduction-economic green expansion-economic growth system had the low fluidity, which had the stability of maintaining the original state. It was difficult to achieve leapfrog development evolution in a short period. (4) Industrial structure optimization can effectively promote the coupling coordinated development of the Yellow River Basin. Government intervention has an obvious role in promoting the coupling coordinated development of most provinces and regions. The effective combination of market demand and technological achievements can further improve the coupling coordination degree of the Yellow River Basin. Conclusion The overall spatiotemporal coupling of carbon reduction-pollution reduction-green expansion-economic growth in the Yellow River Basin is on the rise. The factors affecting the coordination degree of this system coupling are relatively complex. Unveiling the spatial and temporal distribution of urban ecological resilience and analyzing the configuration paths for enhancing its levels are crucial for promoting sustainable development in China. Our study integrates the DPSIR and EES models, considering the causal relationships between systems affecting urban ecological resilience while also examining their internal structures. Based on this, we construct an evaluation system for urban ecological resilience indicators. Utilizing the entropy-TOPSIS method, we assess the ecological resilience index (ERI) across 280 Chinese cities from 2011 to 2021, and the kernel density estimation and Markov chain are used to study the evolution process while the magnitude and source of spatial–regional differences are examined by the Dagum Gini coefficient decomposition method. Additionally, we empirically investigate the driving mechanisms toward high ERI with the focused stepwise quantitative case analysis (fsQCA) method based on the technology–organization–environment (TOE) framework. The results find that the ERI in China shows a tendency of moderate growth in variability, with an obvious gradient distribution: higher levels in the eastern and southern and lower levels in the western and northern regions. Also, ERI exhibits evolutionary features of increasing polarization and inter-regional differentiation. Spatial disparities gradually increase with fluctuations, driven primarily by transvariation density and intra-regional differences, contributing to a dual non-equilibrium state of east–west and north–south directions. Achieving a high ERI is influenced by various antecedent variables interacting with each other, and there are three predominant driving paths among these variables, with the level of informatization playing a central role in each pathway. Machine learning (ML) algorithms have been proven to be effective methods in steel design and production processes. In this study, the feature analysis and prediction of slag entrapment in continuous casting process were carried out based on XGBoost model. Results show that the area under the curve (AUC) and accuracy of BO-XGBoost are 0.811 and 0.756, respectively, which are higher than PSO-XGBoost and GA-XGBoost. Feature analysis shows that mold flux, oscillation frequency, serial number, inner arc, casting speed (CS) and slab width are the key features which affect the entrapped slag defect, based on Gini coefficient and SHAP values. In addition, partial dependence plots of SHAP value suggest that it is conducive to product the qualified slabs with less entrapped slag defect, when the oscillation frequency is 60–140 cpm, inner arc is 7.5–9.5 m, CS is 0.35–1.2 m/min, serial number is less than 5, slab width is less than 1300 mm and 2# mold flux. Equalizing preprimary education is vital for promoting social welfare and aligns with the UN's 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4.2 which advocates equal and adequate access to quality preprimary education for all children. We developed an accessibility‐based analysis framework to assess the SDG 4.2 progress at local scale, providing improved policy recommendations for local governments by considering spatiality, equality, and adequacy across different spatial scales. The Huff–G2SFCA model was used at the grid scale to capture progress and spatial heterogeneity in preprimary education facilities and parental preferences. We used the Gini coefficient to measure the resource distribution equality at the subdistrict and district scales. The adequacy of resources across districts was evaluated using the supply–demand ratio. Our findings in Nanjing highlight challenges due to inadequate and unequal allocation of preprimary education resources, hindering SDG 4.2 advancement. Approximately 8% of children face difficulties accessing quality preprimary education, and a Gini coefficient of 0.52 indicating educational inequality. Despite positive progress in Nanjing's central urban area, suburban, and rural regions, especially the Gaochun and Lishui Districts, face significant challenges of preprimary education resource adequacy and equality in their pursuit of SDG 4.2. This paper aims to analyze trends in income and consumption inequality for paid and self-employed households and examine to what extent changes in aggregate consumption and income inequality can be explained by changes in their permanent and transitory components over time using data from the Italian Survey of Household Wealth (SHIW) covering the period 1989-2016. The results obtained from the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) analysis reveal differences in consumption and income inequality, as well as their permanent and transitory components, between self-employed and payroll households. In particular, self-employed households experience higher levels of both income and consumption inequality, the increase in total income and consumption inequality is mainly driven by an increase in its transitory component. Furthermore, findings from other descriptive measures of inequality, such as the Gini coefficient, the variance of the log, 90th/10th, and 50th/10th percentile ratios, support the notion that income inequality is higher than consumption inequality across all groups, with self-employed households exhibiting a more pronounced difference. Understanding the regional disparities, dynamic evolution, and convergence–divergence characteristics of global agricultural energy efficiency is crucial for enhancing agricultural energy efficiency, ensuring food security, and responding to global green development trends. This paper utilizes 2002–2021 panel data from 144 countries globally, employing the epsilon-based measure–global Malmquist–Luenberger (EBM-GML) model to estimate agricultural energy efficiency, considering unexpected output. The Dagum Gini coefficient, kernel density estimation, spatial Markov matrix, and spatial convergence model are employed to explain the spatial patterns and evolving trends of global and regional agricultural energy efficiency at three levels: regional disparities, dynamic evolution, and convergence. The results indicate significant spatial heterogeneity in global agricultural energy efficiency, with Europe exhibiting the highest efficiency, followed by Asia and the Americas, while Oceania and Africa demonstrate the lowest efficiency. Agricultural energy efficiency globally and in each region continues to improve, with increasing regional disparities, and difficulties in grade transitions in agricultural energy efficiency across regions. Each region exhibits β-convergence characteristics, but the convergence rates vary, and various factors influence growth rates of agricultural energy efficiency differently across regions. Therefore, countries should tailor their strategies based on local conditions, considering their own resource endowments and developmental stages, and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation. We construct a dynamic theoretical analysis framework on how the development of digital economy affects income inequality, and then, we put forward competitive hypotheses about the technology-biased of digital economy. We select the provincial data of China from 2011 to 2019 as the research objects, and we use the CHFS and CFPS databases to measure the Gini coefficient as the indicator of income inequality. We adopt panel data fixed effect model, threshold model to verify which one of the competitive hypotheses is correct. The empirical study shows that the digital economy has a threshold effect on income inequality. The digital economy does not have a significant effect on income inequality at the early stage of development, increases income inequality after a certain level of development, and decreases income inequality when the digital economy is developed. This conclusion holds robustly after endogenous and robustness tests. From the macro perspective, the digital economy contributes to the increase in labor share, but only in regions with large numbers of high-skilled workers can reduce income equality. From the micro-perspective, the development of the digital economy and the increase in wage income jointly reduce income inequality. However, digital economy would reduce wage income when the digital economy is undeveloped, and increased wage income when the digital economy is developed. Therefore, the technological progress of digital economy would transform from bias to unbias. High-quality economic development (HQED) in China is an important embodiment for adapting new normal of economy and implementing new concept of sustainable development. Accurately portraying the evolution trajectory of China's HQED and tracing sources of its spatial–temporal disparities are of great significance for promoting balanced and healthy economic development. Since the evolution of HQED is dynamic and motivated by the need for continuously monitoring the time-varying process of HQED, we develop a functional high-quality economic development index (HQEDI(t)) in the context of functional data analysis. We use the functional ANOVA to examine the significance of disparities between regions, in terms of static absolute level and dynamic development potentials, based on the continuous measurement of provincial HQED. The extended functional Dagum Gini coefficient is also used to decompose the overall and structural inequality of China's HQED. The results show the following. (1) The overall level of China's HQED has been steadily increasing, and innovation efficiency is the leading factor for improvement of China's HQED. (2) Uneven development between regions exists only at the absolute level and grow velocity of HQED, but it is not significant in acceleration. (3) The overall regional disparities of China's HQED show a downward trend, and inter-regional disparities dominate the inequality of HQED. Limited knowledge of African historical inequality trajectories hampers our understanding of inequality outcomes today and leads to a major omission in debates about global inequality. Economies in colonial Africa were characterized by a process of export‐oriented commercialization. We hypothesize that this process itself, the capital intensity of the commodities produced, and the relative importance of European and Asian expatriates and settlers in the economy shaped heterogeneous inequality outcomes. We evaluate these hypotheses using 33 social tables from six predominately agricultural countries between 1914 and 1969. Social tables capture income across the full distribution, aggregated in classes. We assess and improve the commensurability of the different social tables. We then apply different inequality metrics, and find that Gini and Theil coefficients and Inequality Extraction Ratios rose over time. Gini coefficients moved in conjunction with the real value of commodity exports per capita. Using Theil decompositions, we observe a trade‐off between inequality among African classes on the one hand, and among non‐Africans and between races on the other. Whenever present, non‐Africans captured a large share of the export profits. Inequality patterns towards the end of the period suggest that capital‐intensive commodities were associated with higher levels of inequality in the agricultural sector. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inclusive green growth is an essential way to achieve sustainable development. We construct an index system for inclusive green growth performance levels (IGGPLs) in Chinese cities and measure the IGGPLs of 271 cities in the Chinese mainland from 2006 to 2020 based on the vertical and horizontal scatter degree method. We employ the Kernel density method, Dagum Gini coefficient method, Moran index method, and Markov chain method to investigate distribution evolution, regional disparities, spatial correlations, and state transition of IGGPLs at the city level, respectively. The research results reveal that: (1) China's IGGPL has improved rapidly, but regions with lower IGGPLs still predominate. The eastern region is far ahead, followed by the northeastern region, with the western and center regions trailing; (2) The development trends of IGGPLs in the eastern and central regions are positive, with no signs of polarization. Although polarizations are obvious in the western and northeastern but have been improved significantly; (3) Regional differences exist, but are gradually narrowing over time. By decomposing regional differences, we find that regional differences are the main cause of total differences; (4) The IGGPLs of cities have significant spatial correlations, presenting the spatial agglomeration characteristics of "high-high" and "low-low". We study 51 jellyfish galaxy candidates in the Fornax, Antlia, and Hydra clusters. These candidates are identified using the JClass scheme based on the visual classification of wide-field, twelve-band optical images obtained from the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey. A comprehensive astrophysical analysis of the jellyfish (JClass > 0), non-jellyfish (JClass = 0), and independently organized control samples is undertaken. We develop a semi-automated pipeline using self-supervised learning and similarity search to detect jellyfish galaxies. The proposed framework is designed to assist visual classifiers by providing more reliable JClasses for galaxies. We find that jellyfish candidates exhibit a lower Gini coefficient, higher entropy, and a lower 2D Sérsic index as the jellyfish features in these galaxies become more pronounced. Jellyfish candidates show elevated star formation rates (including contributions from the main body and tails) by |$\sim$| 1.75 dex, suggesting a significant increase in the SFR caused by the ram-pressure stripping phenomenon. Galaxies in the Antlia and Fornax clusters preferentially fall towards the cluster's centre, whereas only a mild preference is observed for Hydra galaxies. Our self-supervised pipeline, applied in visually challenging cases, offers two main advantages: it reduces human visual biases and scales effectively for large data sets. To examine the role of inequality in academic achievement, we analyse a cross-national dataset including data from three cycles from 2012 to 2018 from the PISA, an international assessment of 15-year-old students' math, reading, and science performance. The Gini coefficient and gender inequality index (GII) were used as metrics for a country's economic inequality and gender inequality, respectively. The results show that gender inequality has a negative association with academic achievement for both boys and girls. Moreover, gender inequality has a stronger association with academic achievement than does economic inequality. We also find that gender inequality in reproductive health may contribute substantially to the association between gender inequality and academic achievement. Despite substantial advances in gender equality worldwide, multisectoral and multilevel approaches from the community to the country level are needed to ensure substantial long-term reductions in economic, gender, and educational inequalities. Maintaining and improving ecological resilience is of great practical significance for the Yellow River Basin to reduce potential ecological risks and deliver sustainable development. Based on the essential characteristics of evolutionary resilience, this paper developed an ecological resilience index system of "resistance-recovery-reconstruction-renewal" and calculated the ecological resilience of 75 prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River Basin from 2007 to 2021 with the improved TOPSIS method. Then the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of ecological resilience were analyzed using the gravity center-standard deviation ellipse, Dagum Gini coefficient decomposition, and spatial autocorrelation analysis. Furthermore, the dynamic spatial Durbin model (DSDM) was used to investigate the influencing factors of ecological resilience. The main results are as follows: (1) The ecological resilience of the Yellow River Basin showed an overall fluctuating upward trend, and the average annual growth rate in the downstream region was larger than in the upstream and midstream regions. (2) Cities with similar levels of ecological resilience were distributed in a "large settlement, small scattered" pattern. The center of gravity shifted to the southeast, and the spatial distribution exhibited a "northwest-southeast" pattern and a trend towards an "east–west" pattern. The primary source of spatial differences was the intensity of transvariation. (3) The ecological resilience in the Yellow River Basin showed significant spatial clustering, with the H–H clustering area shifting from the Hubao-Eyu urban agglomeration to the Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration, and the L–L clustering area mainly distributed around the Central Plains city cluster. (4) The ecological resilience of the Yellow River Basin exhibited significant snowball, spillover, and siphon effects in time, space, and space-time dimensions, respectively. In the short and long term, population density and openness significantly positively affected the ecological resilience of local and surrounding cities. Urbanization had a long-term effect on ecological resilience without a short-term effect. GDP per capita and industrial structure only imparted a significant positive influence on local ecological resilience. Background: The Health and Medical Assistance Program for Poverty Alleviation is part of China's targeted poverty elimination strategy, which aims to protect poor people's right to health and prevent them from becoming trapped in or returning to poverty because of illness. Many tasks have been defined in this program, including raising the medical insurance level, providing a triage system, improving medical and health services, and enhancing people's health. One pivotal aspect of this initiative involves equitable health resource allocation, a key measure aimed at bolstering medical and health services. This study aimed to analyze and compare health resource allocations in different counties in Northwest China after the implementation of the program. Methods: The Gini coefficient quantifies the level of distributional equality, the Theil index assesses the sources of inequality, and the Health Resource Agglomeration Degree gauges the accessibility of health resources. Results: 1) The health resource allocation distributed based on population(Gini Coefficient < 0.45) was more equitable than that distributed based on area(Gini Coefficient > 0.35) among counties in Northwest China. 2) The contribution rate within non-impoverished counties is higher than that of impoverished counties, which means the inequality within non-impoverished counties. 3) The allocation of beds in medical institutions by area in non-impoverished counties was better than that in impoverished counties, and accessibility to health services for residents in non-impoverished counties was better than that in impoverished counties. Conclusion: The analysis of health resource allocation among the five provinces in Northwest China revealed significant differences in equality among the five provinces in Northwest China, and the differences were mainly derived from the non-impoverished counties. Although the equality is gradually improving, the number of health resources in impoverished counties remain lower than that in non-impoverished counties.Subsequently, it is essential to ensure equitable distribution of healthcare resources while also taking into account their utilization and quality. To explore whether digital finance can reduce agricultural carbon emissions, promote regional convergence, and foster inclusivity in rural revitalization and shared prosperity, this paper uses the provincial-level index of digital financial inclusion to analyze the impact of digital financial inclusion on the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions and the Degum Gini coefficient (D-Gini coefficient) of regional carbon emission intensity in 30 sample provinces from 2010 to 2020. It examines the mechanism of the impact of digital financial inclusion on both variables to understand the underlying factors better. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) Digital financial inclusion significantly reduces the intensity of agricultural carbon emissions and narrows the gap in carbon emission intensity between regions. (2) The unconditional quantile regression coefficients show that the negative coefficients of the digital financial inclusion index and the three-dimensional indices decrease with increasing quantiles. However, the significant effects vary significantly at different quantiles. (3) Technological progress and the government's ability to allocate financial resources play a significant mediating role, and the income gap between urban and rural areas can be further narrowed, as well as the carbon emission intensity gap between provinces. Rapid urbanization has led to increasingly prominent urban heat island phenomena and social inequality. It is urgent to quantify the threshold area of urban parks from multiple perspectives to maximize the cooling effect and improve the equity of park cooling services. Using 33 urban parks in Harbin City as research objects, four indices, i.e., park cooling intensity (PCI), park cooling distance (PCD), park cooling area (PCA), and park cooling efficiency (PCE), were used to explore the park cooling effect and the threshold value of efficiency (TVoE) of the size. The OD (origin–destination) matrix model was constructed to assess the spatial accessibility from the community to the cooling range. The Gini coefficient was used to assess the equity of cooling range accessibility. The relative contribution of each influencing factor to the cooling indicator was quantified through regression modeling. The results showed that the average PCI was 3.27 ℃, the average PCD was 277 m, the average PCA was 115.35 ha, and the average PCE was 5.74. Gray space area was the dominant factor for PCI, PCD, and PCA (relative contributions of 100%, 31%, and 19%, respectively). Park area was the dominant factor for PCE (relative contribution of 28%). The TVoE of park sizes based on PCA and PCE were calculated as 82.37 ha and 2.56 ha, respectively. 39.2% and 94.01% of communities can reach cooling ranges within 15 min in walk mode and transit mode, respectively. Approximately 18% of neighborhood residents are experiencing severe inequities in cooling range accessibility. Purpose: Youth sport (YS) is a community system for promoting children’s physical activity (PA). Studies have examined mean PA during YS practices, but few have examined inequalities in the distribution of PA among children during practice time. This study examined PA inequality in time-segmented YS practices and differences in inequality by time segment characteristics. Methods: Children’s PA and YS practices were examined using accelerometer and video observation data from a sample of YS teams (n = 36 teams, n = 101 practices) for third- through sixth-grade children (n = 392), approximately eight to 12 years old, in two rural U.S. communities. Practices were time-segmented into smaller units (episodes; n = 991). Episodes were assigned codes for purpose (e.g. warm-up), member arrangement (e.g. whole group), and setting demand (i.e. fosters participation, creates exclusion). Group accelerometer data were paired with episodes, and the Gini coefficient quantified inequality in activity counts and minutes of moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA). Beta generalized estimating equations examined the influence of episode structure on PA inequality. Results: Warm-up (Gini = 0.22), fitness (Gini = 0.24), and sport skill (Gini = 0.24) episodes had significantly lower inequality (p < .05) in activity counts than other purpose types. Management (Gini = 0.32) and strategy (Gini = 0.40) episodes had significantly greater inequality (p < .05) in MVPA minutes than other purpose types. Episodes fostering participation (Gini = 0.32) had significantly lower activity count inequality (p < .05) than episodes creating exclusion (Gini = 0.35). Conclusion: PA inequality among children during YS varied by practice structure. Metrics such as the Gini coefficient can illuminate inequalities in PA and may be useful for guiding efforts to improve population PA in children. This study investigates the relative importance of synchronization of income inequality, measured by the Gini coefficient, using a dynamic factor model. This study finds that global factors are relatively stable, whereas regional factors have heterogeneous effects on income inequality fluctuations. The proposed method tries to place the VMs on physical machines by considering the type of VMs to minimize entropy. Entropy is a measurable property that is more associated with disorder, randomness, or uncertainty. We use one of the most common entropy criteria called the Gini coefficient. In summary, among the different placement combinations of VMs, those that can minimize the Gini coefficient are preferred. We then solve the multi‐objective problem with the non‐dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA‐III). We also combine this method with differential evolution methods to improve the quality of solutions. Recent research in other engineering fields has shown that combining metaheuristic methods with differential evolution methods increases the rate of convergence toward the optimal solution. The simulation results on the CloudSim simulator, along with statistical analysis, show that the entropy‐based method has a significant improvement over the state‐of‐the‐art methods in terms of significant performance criteria such as utilization, resource wastage, and energy consumption. Scientific analysis of the spatial heterogeneity of intensive cultivated land use, and exploration of the influencing factors and their mechanism is of great practical significance for promoting intensive potential exploitation and efficient utilization of cultivated land resources. This study constructed a comprehensive evaluation framework based on two aspects: natural conditions and human factors. Principal component analysis, the Dagum Gini coefficient, and a geographically weighted regression model were used to empirically demonstrate the intensive use of cultivated land in the Beibu Gulf urban agglomeration in 2021. The index of cultivated land use intensification was 0.334, and the Gini coefficient was 0.183. The comprehensive level showed low intensity and no distinct spatial nonequilibrium characteristics, with the main sources being hypervariable density (50.33%) and the intra-provincial gap (45.60%). The geographically weighted regression coefficients of temperature (0.491), proportion of agricultural sown area (0.273), elevation (0.165), and urban land intensification (0.146)were relatively large and positive, whereas the regression coefficients of precipitation (-0.440), urbanization rate (-0.207), and construction input intensity (-0.170) were relatively small and negative. All factors exhibited spatial non-stationarity. This study shows that the spatial heterogeneity of intensive cultivated land use in the Beibu Gulf urban agglomeration is manifested by spatial non-equilibrium of pattern and spatial non-stationarity of factors. The mechanism of action among multiple factors reflects that natural factors are the basis, with agricultural land intensification being positively promoted and non-agricultural land intensification negatively inhibited. Improving the intensity of urban land use, coordinating the scale of agricultural sowing, and quantifying the remuneration of cultivated land are the key points to improve the level of intensive use of cultivated land. While the spatial distribution pattern of fish is increasingly used for toxicological test of chemicals or wastewater, no ideal parameter is available for quantitative assessment of spatial distribution, especially uneven distribution with multiple hotspots. Here, to develop a quantitative assessment parameter for spatial distribution, the zebrafish were exposed to ethanol, pentylenetetrazole (PTZ), paraquat dichloride (paraquat) and wastewater, followed by a behavioral test in a narrow tank. Behavioral data was acquired and analyzed by idTracker and MATLAB. By comparing the effects of all treatments on behavior parameters, we confirmed that the spatial distribution was more easily altered rather than general locomotor parameters, e.g. 0.7–70 mg/L PTZ and 5–20 mg/L paraquat being effective for altering spatial distribution but having little effects on general locomotor parameters. Based on the heatmap, i.e., the cumulative proportion of grids and that of frequency in grids, we calculated the behavioral Gini coefficient (G b) for quantitative assessment of fish spatial distribution. The Gini coefficient ranged from zero to 1, with larger values meaning poorer evenness of spatial distribution. Of note, G b showed smaller coefficient of variations (CV) with 3%-19% between replicate tanks in all treatments than the highest frequency (4%-79%), displaying well robustness. Especially, G b addressed the challenge of the complicated heatmap with multiple hotspots. Overall, the behavioral Gini coefficient we established is an ideal parameter to quantitatively assess spatial distribution of fish shoal, which is expected to be applied in toxicity testing for chemicals and wastewater and automatic quality monitoring for surface water and aquaculture water. Research on Chinese parenting styles using representative samples is limited, particularly during COVID-19, with most studies focusing on individual factors while neglecting regional influences. This study examines the impact of provincial income inequality, measured by the Gini coefficient, on parenting styles and how these effects vary across subgroups. Using data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) 2020, encompassing 3768 children aged 7–16 years from 25 regions, we employed a multinomial logistic regression model to analyze the predictability of provincial income inequality on parenting styles identified through latent class analysis. Three parenting styles emerged during the first year of COVID-19: authoritarian (48.2%), autonomy granting (27.7%), and average-level undifferentiated (24.1%). A higher Gini coefficient related to a greater likelihood of parents adopting authoritarian or autonomy-granting parenting styles over average-level undifferentiated parenting. Subgroup analyses revealed a higher likelihood of adopting autonomy-granting and authoritarian parenting for male children compared to female. Mothers with lower education levels and parents in rural areas tend to favor authoritarian parenting in response to higher income inequality. This trend was less evident among more educated mothers and parents living in urban areas. These findings suggest that parenting styles in China are influenced by complex and region-specific factors. The high-quality development of the logistics industry, which is an essential and strategic industry supporting the national economic operation and a fundamental component of modern industrial system construction, is not only a key component of the high-quality development of the national economy but also the main driving force for the high-quality growth of the national economy. As the supporting industry of the national economy, the logistics industry will also face spatial disequilibrium during development. Therefore, to achieve the coordinated development of the logistics industry, the high-quality development and the spatial-temporal unbalanced development status of the logistics industry in each province must be figured out first. This research established a comprehensive evaluation system for the logistics industry development, which included 14 basic indexes based on the provincial-level panel data of 30 provinces in China during 2009–2020. Then, the regional logistics development level score in China was measured using the entropy weight TOPSIS method, and the differences in the regional logistics development level in China and the dynamic evolution law of their distribution were deeply explored through the Dagum Gini coefficient model. The research results revealed that the evaluation index system (14 basic indexes) for the regional logistics industry development level in China was relatively scientific and reasonable; the regional logistics industry development level in China was increasing year by year, showing a steady upward trend, and the imbalance in the eastern, central, and western regions regarding the regional logistics development was shrinking year by year; the average intergroup contribution rate was 36.33%, the intragroup contribution rate was 31.49%, and the contribution rate of intensity of trans variation was 32.19%, proving that the regional differences exerted a most extraordinary influence on the spatial differences in the regional logistics industry development level in China. The research results have important reference value for summarizing the meaning of high-quality logistics industry development, constructing the evaluation index system for logistics industry development, and exploring the reasons for the temporal and spatial differences in logistics industry development in China. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Red Cross Society of China played a crucial role in distributing medical donations, but the initial efforts were inefficient and neglected medical personnel’s welfare. This study proposes a time-sensitive humanitarian distribution model that optimizes the social costs by integrating logistics and deprivation costs that cares about human suffering. We ues the Gini coefficient to evaluate delays in distribution, aiding trade-off analysis between logistics efforts and social welfare. Our findings show that the proposed model improves the Gini coefficient by an average of 33.96% across 500 scenarios. Additionally, investing 23.7% more in logistics costs reduces the Gini coefficient by 0.1, enhancing the social welfare of medical supplies distribution. Poverty was already a main problem in Afghanistan even before, but it has exacerbated due to the pandemic. However, the actual impact of the pandemic on households had not been investigated. This study provides such analysis using data obtained from a strictly random survey of 1060 households in the capital of Balkh, the fourth most populated province in Afghanistan. Using headcount ratio and poverty gap measures and both income and expenditure approaches, the results show that an additional 12% of households fell below the poverty line, from an already high of 75% before the pandemic. The poverty gap index rises to 34%, but the computed Gini coefficient indicates no significant change in inequality. Poor governance and corruption in Afghanistan are major impediments to address the issue of poverty. What is the effect of exports on local income inequality in developing countries? To respond to this question, we combine data on exports with a panel of welfare indicators for 2000 Mexican municipalities, and implement an instrumental variable approach to address endogeneity concerns. Our results show that a 10 per cent increase in the exports per worker reduces local income inequality, measured by the Gini coefficient, by 0.17 points (using a 0 to 100 scale). This is driven by income growth among households at the bottom of the income distribution. We also find that although exports do raise the total amount of labour incomes at the municipal level, average labour incomes do not change. This occurs because municipalities with growing exports also experience an increase in employment and working-age population driven by inflows of returning migrants and lower emigration outflows. Intergenerational health mobility serves as a crucial indicator that reflects both social class mobility and health inequality. In this study, we constructed a comprehensive index to evaluate the health of residents in terms of physical, psychological and social adaptation dimensions using data from the China Family Panel Studies from 2010 to 2018. It then measured intergenerational health mobility using the intergenerational rank correlation coefficient method. Furthermore, the dynamic evolutionary trend, spatial differences and their sources, and the convergence characteristics of intergenerational health mobility were revealed by nonparametric kernel density estimation, the Dagum Gini coefficient, and the σ(β) convergence model, respectively. The formation mechanisms were explored using the quadratic assignment procedure. The results showed a general improvement but unbalanced trend of intergenerational health mobility in China, and hypervariable density was identified as the primary factor contributing to this difference. The σ convergence characteristics and β convergence mechanism were verified in China and its three regions. Environmental quality, industrial structure, and accessibility of medical and health resources had significant and decreasing effects on the spatial differences in intergenerational health mobility across China, with varying impacts observed among the three regions. This study not only provides empirical insights into understanding the dynamics laws of intergenerational health mobility and promoting regional coordinated development in China but also offers valuable guidance for formulating healthcare policies in developing countries and for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The declining trend in China's fertility rate is very pronounced, and since 2023, the population has entered a phase of negative growth, significantly constraining economic development. At the same time, income inequality, which creates many problems, remains a serious issue. Existing research does not discuss the impact of income inequality on fertility rates in China currently. This paper depends on both macro and micro perspectives to examine the relationship between income inequality and fertility. We used the macro perspective to study the impact of urban-rural income inequality on the birth rate. The results show that the widening income gap between urban and rural areas will reduce the birth rate, but this effect declines with increasing of the birth rate; this negative effect is the strongest in the eastern region and the weakest in the western region. We used micro perspective to study the effect of the Gini coefficient on fertility motivation. It was found that for every one percent increase of the Gini coefficient, the fertility motivation decreased by about 0.08%, indicating that income inequality also impacts fertility behavior negatively. Comparing different income groups, income inequality has no impact on the fertility motivation of low-income groups, but has a significant negative and positive impact, respectively, on the middle and high-income groups. The mediating effect model shows that income inequality can negatively affect fertility behavior by reducing social trust and subjective well-being.
