Abstract: We measure the top quark mass in dilepton final states of tt¯ events in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb−1 at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The analysis features a comprehensive optimization of the neutrino weighting method to minimize the statistical uncertainties. We also improve the calibration of jet energies using the calibration determined in tt¯→lepton+jets events, which reduces the otherwise limiting systematic uncertainty from the jet energy scale. The measured top quark mass is mt=173.32±1.36(stat)±0.85(syst) GeV.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the cross sections for the associated production of a W boson with at least one heavy quark jet, b or c, in proton–antiproton collisions. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb−1 recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp¯ Collider at s=1.96 TeV are used to measure the cross sections differentially as a function of the jet transverse momenta in the range 20 to 150 GeV. These results are compared to calculations of perturbative QCD theory as well as predictions from Monte Carlo generators.

A prototype of 21.5 $X_0$depth and $180 \times 180$ $mm^2$ transverse dimensions was constructed, consisting of 2160 individually read out $10\times 45\times 3$ $mm^3$ scintillator strips. This prototype was tested using electrons of 2–32 $Ge V$ at the Fermilab Test Beam Facility in 2009. Abstract: It is commonly understood that a 2-D slope stability analysis will provide a lower factor of safety than a 3-D slope stability analysis. The difference in the calculated factors of safety between a 2-D and a 3-D analysis is generally less than 15% for simple slope geometries. Most past comparative studies between 2-D and 3-D stability analyses have ignored the effect of negative pore-water pressures (i.e., matric suctions) in the soil zone above the groundwater table. In this paper, a comparison is made between 2-D and 3-D slope stability analyses on soil slopes where a portion of the soil profile has matric suctions. The factors of safety on simple geometry slopes and complex geometry slopes (i.e., slopes which have two intersecting slope surfaces), are investigated for a range of shear strength parameters and groundwater conditions. For simple slopes with a low slope angle, the difference in factor of safety between a 2-D and a 3-D slope stability analysis, (i.e., ΔFs/Fs2 -D), generally ranges from 9% to 16% when ϕb is equal to 15°. The value of ΔFs/Fs2 -D for a steep, simple slope is generally larger than for a low angle, simple slope. When ϕb is 15°, the values of ΔFs/Fs2 -D for the simple, steep slope generally range from 12 to 18%. The difference between a 2-D and a 3-D stability analysis was most pronounced for concave geometries where a portion of the soil profile contained unsaturated soils. The values of ΔFs/Fs2 -D for corner angle concave slopes with angles ranging between 180 to 270° can be as large as 20 to 59% when ϕb is equal to 15°. Two case histories, (i.e., the highwall stability failure at the Poplar River coal mine and the Kettleman Hills landfill slope failure), were used to illustrate the effect of the unsaturated zone on changes in the factors of safety.

Abstract: We report results of a search for the pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark, t ˜ 1 , using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb −1 collected by the DO detector at a p p ¯ center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Both scalar top quarks are assumed to decay into a b quark, a charged lepton and a scalar neutrino. The search is performed in the electron plus muon and dielectron final states. The signal topology consists of two isolated leptons, missing transverse energy, and jets. We find no evidence for this process and exclude regions of parameter space in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

Abstract: We present a search for a narrow scalar or vector resonance decaying into Z gamma with a subsequent Z boson decay into a pair of electrons or moons. The data for this search were collected with the D circle divide detecror at the Fermilab Tevatron p (p) over bar collider at a center of mass energy root s = 1.96 TeV. Using 1.1 (1.0) fb(-1) of data, we observe 49 (50) candidate events in the electron (muon) channel, in good agreement with the standard model prediction. From the combination of both channels, we derive 95% C.L. upper limits on the cross section times branching fraction (sigma x B) into Z gamma. These limits range from 0.19 (0.20) pb for a scalar (vector) resonance mass of 600 GeV/c(2) to 2.5 (3.1) pb for a mass of 140 GeV/c(2).

Abstract: We present a search for a narrow-width heavy resonance decaying into top quark pairs X->ttbar in ppbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96TeV using approximately 0.9fb^-1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. This analysis considers ttbar candidate events in the lepton plus jets channel with at least one identified b jet and uses the ttbar invariant mass distribution to search for evidence of resonant production. We find no evidence for a narrow resonance X decaying to ttbar. Therefore, we set upper limits on sigma*B(X->ttbar) for different hypothesized resonance masses using a Bayesian approach. For a Topcolor-assisted technicolor model, the existence of a leptophobic Z' boson with mass M_Z'

Abstract: We present a measurement of the fraction of inclusive W +jets events produced with net charm quantum number 11, denoted W + c-jet, in p collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV using approximately 1 fb(-1) of data collected by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We identify the W +jets events via the leptonic W boson decays. Candidate W + c-jet events are selected by requiring a jet containing a muon in association with a reconstructed W boson and exploiting the charge correlation between this muon and W boson decay lepton to perform a nearly model-independent background subtraction. We measure the fraction of W + c-jet events in the inclusive W +jets sample for jet PT > 20 GeV and pseudorapidity |eta| < 2.5 to be 0.074 +/- 0.019(stat.) +/-(0.012)(0.014) (syst.), in agreement with theoretical predictions. The probability that background fluctuations could produce the observed fraction of W + c-jet events is estimated to be 2.5 x 10(-4), which corresponds to a 3.5 sigma statistical significance.

Abstract: We present new results of the search for WH→ℓνbb¯ production in pp¯ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s=1.96 TeV, based on a dataset with integrated luminosity of 0.44 fb−1. We combine these new results with previously published searches by the D0 collaboration, for WH and ZH production analyzed in the E̸Tbb¯ final state, for ZH (→ℓ+ℓ−bb¯) production, for WH (→WWW) production, and for H (→WW) direct production. No signal-like excess is observed either in the WH analysis or in the combination of all D0 Higgs boson analyses. We set 95% C.L. (expected) upper limits on σ(pp¯→WH)×B(H→bb¯) ranging from 1.6 (2.2) pb to 1.9 (3.3) pb for Higgs boson masses between 105 and 145 GeV, to be compared to the theoretical prediction of 0.13 pb for a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson with mass mH=115 GeV. After combination with the other D0 Higgs boson searches, we obtain for mH=115 GeV an observed (expected) limit 8.5 (12.1) times higher than the SM predicted Higgs boson production cross section. For mH=160 GeV, the corresponding observed (expected) ratio is 10.2 (9.0).

Abstract: A data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.1 fb(-1) collected by the D phi detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider was analyzed to search for squarks and gluinos produced in p (p) over bar collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. No evidence for the production of such particles was observed in topologies involving jets and missing transverse energy, and 95% C.L. lower limits of 379 GeV and 308 GeV were set on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tan beta = 3, A(0) = 0, and mu < 0. The corresponding previous limits are improved by 54 GeV and 67 GeV.

Abstract: We report results of a search for supersymmetry (SUSY) with gauge-mediated symmetry breaking in di-photon events collected by the DO experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in 2002-2006. In 1.1 fb(-1) of data, we find no significant excess beyond the background expected from the standard model and set the most stringent lower limits to date for a standard benchmark model on the lightest neutralino and chargino masses of 125 GeV and 229 GeV, respectively, at 95% confidence.

Abstract: We present a study of events with Z bosons and jets produced at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in ppbar collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The data sample consists of nearly 14,000 Z/G* -> e+e- candidates corresponding to the integrated luminosity of 340 pb-1 collected using the D0 detector. Ratios of the Z/G* + >= n jet cross sections to the total inclusive Z/G* cross section have been measured for n = 1 to 4 jet events. Our measurements are found to be in good agreement with a next-to-leading order QCD calculation and with a tree-level QCD prediction with parton shower simulation and hadronization.
