External Quantum Efficiency (EQE) and Current-Voltage (I-V) measurements of a monolithic quadruple junction (4J) space solar cell AlGaInP (J1)/ AlInGaAs (J2) / InGaAs (J3) / Ge (J4) manufactured by CESI (Milano, Italy) have been performed at INTA-Spasolab. In order to determine electrical cell performance of this 4J solar cell type under AM0 irradiance and cell temperature standard conditions, the external quantum efficiency (EQE) measurement system and steady-state solar simulators at the cell testing laboratory INTA-Spasolab are to be upgraded. The purpose of this work is to present both the upgrading of INTA-Spasolab facilities and the results of the characterization of a 4J solar cell under development.

INTA-SPASOLAB as independent testing facility for more than 25 years has an extensive expertise in the certification and qualification of photovoltaic devices for space applications. Recently INTA-SPASOLAB has participated in the qualification of the latest technology upgrade of lattice-matched III-V GaInP/GaInAs/Ge triple-junction (TJ) bare solar cells manufactured by AZUR SPACE Solar Power GmbH (Germany). This participation has consisted of carrying out test sequences of subgroup B, Beginning of Life (BOL) performance, C1 (Electron Irradiation) and P (Proton Irradiation) according to the current ECSS E-ST-20¬08C, Rev.1 reference standard. At these subgroup qualifications, some performance tests, in particular spectral response and electric performance tests, have been agreed to be either modified in the test sequence order or added, in order to understand better the evolution of the electrical cell parameter results. In this work, test sequence variations and obtained results on those subgroups B, C1 and P, are presented. The gained experience at this qualification and other previous work about solar cell characterization is used to suggest amendments.

The aim of this work is to present the experiences of INTA during its path to IEC 62108 accreditation describing the major difficulties encountered during the test validation process.New drawbacks related to the Outdoor Exposure, Thermal Cycling, Robustness of Terminations and Water Spray Test have been encountered.INTA is ready to certify CPV Modules and Assemblies according to IEC 62108.

Risk/benefit analysis of drugs requires not only the reporting and documentation of adverse drug reactions in clinical trials but also a spontaneous reporting system for the detection of rare adverse reactions to drugs. A central aspect of any spontaneous reporting system is assessment of causality on the basis of detailed case histories. However, besides the qualitative description of adverse drug reactions, information about the incidence of such reactions has to be obtained as well so that their frequency, and thus the risk involved, can be established.

The Catalytic Combustion of Industrial Waste Gas as a Contribution to the Problem of Preventing Air Polluting The procedure permits the removal of objectionable odoriferous and poisonous substances which are present in the waste gases and are combustable. Catalytically active metals or metal compounds have been employed as catalysts for recombustion. The proper selection of catalyst is made on the basis of practical experience in small experiments. A description of the apparatus and economic consideration of the process open ways for possible applications. The degree of efficiency of such a purifying equipment must be brought forward in harmony with the demands of the public and economic ways of workings.

Mitteilung der Fruh- und Spatergebnisse (5 Jahre post operationem) von Lungenresektionen bei nicht lappenbegrenzten Tuberkulosen der Jahre 1955–1964. Chronische Rezidivtuberkulosen und fortgeschrittene Versagerfalle der primaren konservativen Therapie konnten durch funktionsschonende lappenuberschreitende Resektionen unter einer Fruhmortalitat von 3,7% zu 86% beruflich rehabilitiert und zu 91% dauerhaft entseucht werden. Die ventilatorische Funktionseinbuse lag bei Spatuntersuchungen meist unter 20% des Ausgangswertes. Bronchusfisteln traten doppelt so oft auf wie bei konventionellen Resektionen wegen Tuberkulose im gleichen Zeitraum. Die Resektion topographisch multilobar angeordneter Tuberkulosen wird empfohlen.

The authors studied the effect of a chemo-/radiotherapy or radio-/chemotherapy on 52 cases of microcellular bronchial carcinoma, classification "limited disease". The survival curves were slightly better for the patients submitted to primary chemotherapy, but the difference was not statistically significant, and the curves coincided again after 18 months. 60 to 80% of the patients had no complaints or only unimportant complaints during more than half of their survival time. In 23 patients with "extensive disease" who received only a symptomatic therapy or a combined palliative chemotherapy, chemotherapy had a slightly better effect, but this was not statistically significant.

Adherence of bacteria to the host epithelial cell-membrane might constitute the first step in colonization and invasion, leading to the manifestation of an infectious disease. The number of bacteria that are capable of attaching to uroepithelia correlated with severity of clinical symptomatic urinary tract infections including cases of pyelonephritis. Under experimental and clinical conditions, evidence shows that bacteria as well as bacterial fragments can persist in pyelonephritic kidneys and might be responsible for severe autoimmune phenomena. This chapter reports the interaction of Escherichia coli antigens with plasma-membranes that are isolated from human kidney tubule. The results show that: (1) microbial antigens are capable of adhering to the surface of the host epithelial cell-membrane and vice versa; (2) attachment of bacteria is governed by interference with kidney membrane receptors of glycoprotein type; and (3) interaction of microbial constituents with host membranes might result in complete structural disintegration of target cell membrane antigens.

The success of chemotherapy of inoperable endothoracic cancer largely depends on interdisciplinary cooperation. 30 years of research have succeeded in developing some promising combinations of cytostatic agents. Administered sequentially they are better tolerated and this has made outpatient treatment possible. 87 persons had polycytostatic therapy according to the Karrer/Sighart formula. It was followed by a difinite improvement in the general condition of the patients, but without any substantial lengthening of the average survival time. The ACO scheme (Seeber/Schmidt) has been used since April 1977 in 42 persons. Preliminary results indicate a definite prologation of survival time, especially in cases of small-cell bronchogenic carcinoma.
