OBJECTIVE: To investigate the role of rebamipide in the treatment of acute gout arthritis rats induced by monosodium urate (MSU) crystal. METHODS: Forty-two male rats were randomly divided into three groups (n=14). Group A was treated with oral rebamipide, group B with oral colchicine, and group C with oral placebo. The rats were monitored for the induction of arthritis with clinical manifestations and pathological changes, and the levels of interleukin (IL)-1β、IL-6、IL-10, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α in serum were measured. RESULTS: In group C, the clinical score and swelling index reached the maximum in 24 h, and then gradually decreased to 72 h. After 24 h of model induced, the clinical scores in group C were significantly higher than those in group A and group B [2 (1-3) vs. 0 (0-1) vs. 1 (0-2), P < 0.01], the swelling indexes in group C were significantly higher than those in group A and group B [0.36 (0.16-0.52) vs. 0.11 (0-0.20) vs. 0.12 (0-0.16), P < 0.01]. Histologically, after 24 h of model induced, there was a large number of neutrophil infiltration in the synovium of group C [scale score: 4 (2-4)], and there was no significant inflammatory cell infiltration in group A [1 (0-2)] and group B [1 (0-2)], the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.001). After 24 h of model induced, the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α in serum of group C were significantly higher than those in group A and B [IL-1β: (41.86±5.72) vs. (27.35±7.47) vs. (27.76±5.28) ng/L, IL-6: (1 575.55±167.11) vs. (963.53±90.22) vs. (964.08±99.31) ng/L, IL-10: (37.96±3.76) vs. (21.68±4.83) vs. (16.20±2.49) ng/L, TNF-α: (21.32±1.34) vs. (15.82±2.54) vs. (17.35±7.47) μg/L, P < 0.001]. CONCLUSION: Rebamipide has a protective effect on acute gout arthritis rats induced by MUS crystals.

Gastric cancer is a common malignancy, with high metastasis and poor prognosis. Our purpose was to explore potential molecular mechanisms of gastric cancer.A total of 10 pairs of gastric cancer tissues and adjacent normal gastric tissues were collected for RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), followed by differential expression analysis. Combining qRT-PCR results, two novel genes were selected for in-depth analysis, including up-regulated ONECUT and down-regulated SST. To investigate the effects of ONECUT and SST on the biological behaviors of gastric cancer cells, gastric cancer cell lines were transfected by ONECUT2 knockdown and SST overexpression. Afterwards, cell migration and invasion were examined using transwell assays, and the expressions of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related proteins were measured by Western blot analysis. Furthermore, cell viability was detected by CCK-8 assay. Finally, tumorigenicity in nude mice was performed.Gastric cancer cell migration and invasion were inhibited in BGC823 cells transfected by shONECUT2. Similar results were observed in SST overexpression in MGC803 cells. Silencing ONECUT2 or overexpressing SST reduced the expressions of mesenchymal markers (N-cadherin and vimentin), STAT3, fibronectin, Wnt2, β-catenin and increased epithelial marker (E-cadherin), p-STAT3, smad2/3, α-catenin protein levels. In addition, inhibiting ONECUT2 or elevated SST suppressed tumor cell viability in vitro. Moreover, ONECUT2 silencing or elevated SST significantly inhibited tumor growth in vivo.Up-regulated ONECUT2 and down-regulated SST promote gastric cell migration, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition and tumor growth in gastric cancer.

An Ag(I) coordination polymer [Ag2(L)2(H2btc)]n (L = 4,4′-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-ylmethyl)-biphenyl, H4btc = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid) is hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, TGA analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the triclinic space group Pī, a = 10.670(8) A, b = 10.990(8) A, c = 23.697(2) A, α = 81.847(10), β = 82.171(10), γ = 80.592(10)°, V = 2695.5(3) A3, Z = 2, Dcalc = 1.489 g/cm3, μ = 0.789 mm–1. The title compound displays a uninodal three-connected hcb/Shubnikov hexagonal plane with {63} topology, which is further extended into a 3D supramolecular framework via C–H···O interactions.

A new coordination polymer {[Cd(mbix)(nip)·H2O]·0.25H2O}n (mbix = 1,3-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene, H2nip = 5-nitroisophthalic acid) is hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c, a = 10.328(1) A, b = 26.683(3) A, c = 8.6612(8) A, β = 107.462(1)°, V = 2276.9(4) A3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.699 g/cm3, μ = 1.015 mm−1, F(000) = 1170, the final R = 0.0469 and wR = 0.0833. The complex exhibits a 2D (4,4) grid with point symbol 44.62. The thermogravimetric curve of the complex was addressed.

In order to study the net ecosystem CO2 exchange (NEE) variation and its response to environmental factors, CO2 flux and related environmental factors were monitored from May until September. The diurnal NEE variations in this region showed a U-shaped distribution. The average daily CO2 absorption in July was the largest. The study area is a carbon sink during the growing season. At the soil depth of 40 and 80 cm, due to the influence of underground water, the soil water content had a significantly negative correlation with NEE. The increase in relative air humidity can facilitate stomata opening, which also improves CO2 absorption. Additionally, the increase in air temperature, soil temperature and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) all promote plant photosynthesis, which leads to a negative correlation with NEE.

To manufacture a protective coating with high thermal conductivity on drying cylinders in paper production machines, a FeCrB-cored wire was developed, and the spraying parameters for wire-arc spraying were optimized in this study. The conventional engineering materials FeCrAl and FeCrMo coatings were produced as the reference coatings under the same experimental condition. It has been shown that the oxide content in coating influences the thermal conductivity of coating significantly. The FeCrB coating exhibits a relative higher thermal conductivity due to the lower oxide content in comparison with conventional FeCrAl and FeCrMo coatings. Moreover, the oxidation of in-flight particles can be reduced by decreasing the standoff distance contributing to the increase in the thermal conductivity of coating. Total energy consumption of a papermaking machine can be significantly reduced if the coatings applied to dryer section exhibit high thermal conductivity. Therefore, the FeCrB coating developed in this study is a highly promising coating system for drying cylinders regarding the improved thermal conductivity and low operation costs in paper production industry.

患儿 男，因生后6 h哭声弱、呼吸困难入院。临床表现包括自主活动少，水平眼球震颤，间断无诱因呼吸急促，同时间断有呼吸减慢至呼吸暂停，肌张力明显减低。先考虑新生儿缺氧缺血性脑病，后头颅磁共振成像存在典型的"中线裂""蝙蝠翼状"和"三角形"第4脑室、"磨牙征"而确诊为新生儿Joubert综合征。基因检测患儿TMEM67基因（8q22/NM_153704.5）外显子8发现错义突变c.725AG，患儿母亲携带有相同的基因变异；外显子16发现了错义突变c.1645CT，其父亲携带有相同的基因变异。.

Theoretical bandgap calculation and numerical simulations were carried out in order to evaluate the shockwave resistance of the structures made of metamaterials, specifically in real applications. Assuming that the microstructures of the shockwave-resistant metamaterials are the same as that of the phononic crystals, a bandgap calculation model was constructed based on the wave function and the Bloch theory. Besides, the bandgap calculations of certain specific structures were carried out. Using the Abaqus dynamic simulation analysis software, the shockwave resistance of specific metamaterial structures and ordinary steel plates were compared and analyzed in terms of their response to stress and displacement. Consequently, the shockwave resistance and the results of bandgap calculations of the metamaterials were verified. The results showed that the bandgap model, constructed for the metamaterials, is highly accurate and the metamaterials with the structures of photonic crystal were found to be more resistant to shockwave. This investigation can provide a theoretical reference for future structural designs of shockwave-resistant metamaterials.

To investigate the effect of hypoxia inducing factor (HIF)-1α on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and angiogenesis in diabetic retinopathy.8-week healthy SD rats were used for the experiments. Under systemic anesthesia condition, control rats received a saline injection into the left ocular body (control A group), and 2 μl antisense oligonucleotides (ASODN) (10 μmol/L) into right eye (control B group). Model rats received a saline injection into the left eye (model A group), and 2 μl ASODN (10 μmol/L) into the right eye (model B group). Rats received an intraocular injection of HIF-1α ASODN for 2, 4, and 6 weeks (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, respectively). Retinal vessel development was observed by ADP staining. Vascular endothelial cells penetrating retinal inner membrane were counted. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect expressions of VEGF and HIF-1α proteins in the retina.Prominent angiogenesis and hyperplasia were found in model A group. Relatively fewer newly formed vessels were shown in model group B. However, no significant change of retinal vascular morphology was presented in control group. Of note, the vascular endothelial cell counts, VEGF and HIF-1α contents were significantly increased in model group (p0.05). After treatment with HIF-1α ASODN, lower endothelial cell counts was found in model B group (p0.05 comparing to model A). VEGF expression in model B group was significantly decreased, among which, model B3 was observed with lower cell counts than model B1 or B2 (p0.05 comparing to model A). Injection of HIF-1α ASODN significantly suppressed HIF-1α level in model B in a time-dependent manner.Retinal angiogenesis is closely related with increasing level of HIF-1α. Inhibition of HIF-1α suppressed VEGF expression and deterred angiogenesis in a time-dependent manner. This provided novel insights for treating diabetic retinopathy.

Glioma is a tumor of the brain. Although the clinical regimens and surgical techniques for glioma have improved, therapies of advanced glioma remain challenging, carrying dismal overall survival and therapeutic success rates. Evidence has shown that miRNAs played important roles in glioma development. The current study aimed at investigating the function of a novel cancerogenic miRNA, miR-93, in glioma progression by investigating the expression and mechanism of it.qRT-PCR was conducted to assess the miR-93 expression and the mRNA expression of target gene in glioma tissues and cells. The invasion and migration abilities of the glioma cells were determined by transwell assays. Luciferase reporter assay was performed to confirm the target of miR-93.The results indicated that miR-93 expression in glioma tissues and cells was increased significantly than that in normal brain tissues and cells. Furthermore, miR-93 promoted glioma cell migration and invasion. RBL2 was recognized as a direct target of miR-93 in glioma cells, and overexpression of RBL2 could reverse the stimulative effect of miR-93 in glioma cell.The above findings suggested that miR-93 together with RBL2 could be diagnostic targets and novel prognostic markers for glioma.

SIFT as the representative of the same feature point extraction and matching algorithm has been widely applied in the field of multisource remote sensing image matching. However, it eliminates noise and detects features at different scale levels by building or approximating the Gaussian scale space based on linear. Gaussian blurring does not respect the natural boundaries of objects and smoothes to the same degree details and noise, reducing localization accuracy. To solve this problem, we proposed an improved KAZE algorithm which can build stable nonlinear scale space. Firstly, the extreme points are detected through building stable nonlinear scale space. Secondly, The match result by optimizing the feature points and strictly limiting matching threshold is used to calculate geometric transformation model parameters between two image. Finally, we can use this geometric transformation model to restrict the search space for feature points matching. Experimental results show that the improved KAZE algorithm is significantly better than the before KAZE. Moreover, for detail and texture blurred images, KAZE and its improved algorithm have unique advantages compared to the SIFT.

The aim of this study was to examine the expression of macrophage migration-inhibitory factor (MIF) in duodenal ulcer epithelial cells and its relation to Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection, and to discuss the pathogenic roles of MIF expression and Hp infection in duodenal ulcer. MIF protein and mRNA expression was examined in samples from patients with duodenal ulcer with and without Hp infection (N = 40 each, experimental group), and in normal duodenal bulb mucosal tissue (N = 40, control group) using immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. Patients without Hp infection received routine treatment, and treatment was provided to the patients positive for Hp to eradicate Hp infection. Hp and MIF expression levels before treatment and after the ulcer had been cured were compared. The positive rates of MIF protein and mRNA in patients with Hp infection before treatment were 67.5 and 65%, respectively, and were 18.9 and 21.6% in the 37 patients from whom Hp was eliminated. These were statistically different both before and after treatment compared with controls (P0.05). In the patients without Hp infection, the positive rates of MIF protein and mRNA expression before (45 and 47.5%, respectively) and after (32.5 and 30%) treatment were not significantly different (P0.05). The results of this study suggested that MIF is related to the development of duodenal ulcer, and that the presence of Hp is closely related with the expression of MIF in the duodenal mucosa and the development of duodenal ulcer.

Background/Objectives: Nutritional risk screening (NRS-2002) and routine clinical laboratory measurements (RCLMs) had been shown to have a predictive value in adverse outcomes in some studies, respectively. This study analyzed the association between NRS-2002 and RCLMs and estimated their prospective value in predicting adverse outcomes. Subjects/Methods: A total of 916 hospitalized patients were screened on admission with NRS-2002 and Subjective Global Assessment; RCLMs, which include blood test, kidney and liver function and electrolytes, were recorded. Diagnosis, nutritional support, surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, complications, mortality and hospital stay during hospitalization were collected. The X2-test, odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals, kappa (k) statistic and regression analyses were conducted. Results: An overall 48.1% of the 916 patients were at nutritional risk on admission. Comparing ‘at risk' with ‘no risk', a significantly higher incidence of abnormality was found not only in nutritional markers but also in other parameters of RCLMs (OR ranged from 1.5 to 3.5). Regression analyses showed that ‘at risk' determined at admission was not a significant predictor of adverse outcomes after adjusting for other confounding factors, although it was a strong predictor in univariate analysis, whereas hypoalbuminemia, low total lymphocyte count, abnormality of hepatic and renal function were predictors after adjusting for confounders. Conclusions: The findings suggest that NRS-2002 might be a global index of ‘sickness' rather than be only a nutritional screening tool. It being rated once at admission is insufficient and should be repeated for using it as a predictor, whereas RCLMs routinely measured at admission may be able to be used to predict adverse outcomes.

ACC is one of the most malignant tumors in salivary gland, and of poor prognosis. A critical role in ACC development and progression is played by EGFR family members including EGFR. EGCG, a low molecular weight polyphenol contained in green tea, has broad anticancer properties, but whether EGCG regulates activity of ACC is unknown. In the present study, the effects of EGCG were investigated in vitro with particular attention to the pathway of EGFR/Erk and mitochondria apoptosis in SACC-83 cell lines. The results of MTS assay and flow cytometry demonstrated that EGCG (20-80 μM) could inhibit proliferation and promote apoptosis of SACC-83 cells. Furthermore, by Western blotting with antibodies specific for EGFR, Erk 1/2 (p-Erk 1/2), Mek (p-Mek), Bcl-2, and Bax, it was demonstrated that EGCG could reduce the expression of EGFR, inhibit phosphorylation of Erk 1/2 and Mek, downregulate Bcl-2, and upregulate Bax. In addition, it was also shown that EGCG could inhibit mRNA expression of P90 RSK by RT-PCR. In conclusion, the results suggest that EGCG might be a potential therapeutic or adjuvant strategy for the treatment of patients with ACC, by inhibiting proliferation and inducing the apoptosis of the tumor cells.

Swine influenza virus (SIV), one of the most important zoonotic agents, is associated with major public health concerns. The current study was conducted to investigate the role of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) in the regulation of the inflammatory response to acute lung injury (ALI) induced by SIV of H9N2 subtype (H9N2-SIV) in mice. For this purpose, BALB/c mice were intranasally infected with 20 LD(50) of H9N2-SIV (infected group), while non-infected mice served as control (control group). To assess the effect of p38 MAPK, its specific inhibitor SB203580 was employed followed by SIV infection (SB group). At various times after infection, mouse lungs were subjected to pathological and histological observations and detection of inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor α (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and IL-10 and phosphorylated p38 MAPK. The obtained results showed obvious inflammatory responses, injury and raised levels of inflammatory cytokines and phosphorylated p38 MAPK in the lungs of virus-infected mice. In the mice inoculated with the virus alone, the level of phosphorylated p38 MAPK increased from day 2 and peaked at day 6 post infection (p.i.). However, SB203580 caused lower increases in inflammatory cytokines and phosphorylated p38 MAPK and a milder lung injury. These findings indicate that the activation of p38 MAPK upregulated the inflammatory responses to H9N2-SIV-induced ALI, increased its severity and promoted the production of inflammatory cytokines.

For mobile radar, offset biases and attitude biases influence radar measurements simultaneously. Attitude biases generated from the errors of the inertial navigation system (INS) of the platform can be converted into equivalent radar measurement errors by three analytical expressions (range, azimuth, and elevation, resp.). These expressions are unique and embody the dependences between the offset and attitude biases. The dependences indicate that all the attitude biases can be viewed as and merged into some kind of offset biases. Based on this, a unified registration model (URM) is proposed which only contains radar “offset biases” in the form of system variables in the registration equations, where, in fact, the “offset biases” contain the influences of the attitude biases. URM has the same form as the registration model of stationary radar network where no attitude biases exist. URM can compensate radar offset and attitude biases simultaneously and has minor computation burden compared with other registration models for mobile radar network.

For mobile radars installed on a gyro-stabilised platform (GSP) that can steadily follow an East-North-Up (ENU) frame, attitude biases (ABs) of the platform and offset biases (OBs) of the radar are linear dependent variables. Therefore ABs and OBs are unobservable in the linearized registration equations; however, when combining them as new variables, the system becomes observable, and this model has been called the unified registration model (URM). Unlike GSP mobile radars, un-stabilised GSP (or UGSP) mobile radars are installed on the platform directly and rotate with the platform simultaneously. For UGSP, it is testified that both types of biases are independent and observable because the time-varying attitude angles (AAs)1 of the platform are included in the registration equations, which destroy the dependencies of both kinds of biases and lead us to propose a completely different linearized registration model– the All Augmented Model (AAM). AAM employs all OBs and ABs in the state vector and a Kalman filter (KF) to produce their estimates. Numerical simulation results show that the estimated performance of AAM is close to the Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRLB) and that the Root Mean Square Errors (RMSEs) of the rectified measurements by using AAM are more than 500 m smaller than by URM in all directions.

Aim Formocresol is still used in many parts of the world despite concerns over its toxicity. A case of a 45-year-old women who experienced brain injury after an analyphlactic reaction to formocresol is presented. Summary During routine root canal treatment, the patient experienced nausea and vomiting after formocresol was used as an antibacterial agent in the pulp chamber. The procedure was discontinued and the symptoms resolved. Four days later, the treatment was continued by a different dentist, and the patient developed anaphylactic shock within 10 min of placement of a formocresol-soaked cotton pellet. She received emergency medical treatment and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed brain injury characterized by swelling of the gyrus in the cerebral watershed territory of the left parietal–occipital lobe. The patient subsequently made a full recovery after supportive treatment. Key learning points A type-I allergic reaction can be induced by formocresol. The reasons for the brain injury are thought to be cerebral hypoxia, which was induced by the anaphylactic shock and/or cerebral parenchymal oedema. All dentists should be aware of the risks involved in the use of formocresol and avoid using materials containing formocresol and related agents.

For mobile 3-D radar installed on a gyro-stabilized platform, its measurements are usually contaminated by the systematic biases which contain radar offset biases (i.e., range, azimuth and elevation biases) and attitude biases (i.e., yaw, pitch and roll biases) of the platform because of the errors in the Inertial Measurement Units (IMU). Systematic biases can NOT be removed by a single radar itself; however, fortunately, they can be estimated by using two different radar measurements of the same target. The process of estimating systematic biases and then compensating radar measurements is called error registration. In this paper, the registration models are established first, then, the equivalent radar measurement error expressions caused by the attitude biases are derived and the dependencies among attitude biases and offset biases are analysed by using the observable matrix criterion. Based on the analyses above, an Optimized Bias Estimation Model (OBEM) is proposed for registration. OBEM uses the subtraction of azimuth and yaw bias as one variable and omits roll and pitch biases in the state vector, which decreases the dimension of the state vector from fourteen of the All Augmented Model (AAM), (which uses all the systematic biases of both radars as state vector) to eight and has about 80% reduction in calculation costs. Also, OBEM can decrease the coupling influences of roll and pitch biases and improve the estimation performance of radar elevation bias. Monte Carlo experiments were made. Numerical results showed that the bias estimation accuracies and the rectified radar raw measurement accuracies can be improved.

The present Tarim Basin of China presents drilling chanllenges moving toward deeper hydrocarbon reservoirs, which includes more complex formation, poor bit cutting efficiency and wellbore integrity. The paper introduces the development and application of optimizer of drilling operating parameters named as Smart Driller Indicator (SDI) which worked to deliver continuous improvement in axial vibration and stick-slip mitigation for the presented field. SDI is based on a soft-closed-loop solution called NAVO real-time vibration monitoring and calculating the optimal drilling parameters for that formation by maintaining an optimum relationship between ROP and energy input. From the perspectives of rock mechanics and conservation of energy, the ideal performance in the optimum proportion among drilling parameters, ROP and MSE have been derived from comprehensive analysis of optimized drilling mechanism. An advanced damped forced torsional vibrarion model in frenquency-domain was developed. Field validation for real-time estimates produced by the model was conducted by a drilling mechanics module sub. In drlling process, if the ROP is not as good as expected, SDI will automatically evaluates the new hole conditions including the mechanical properties of the formation, bit wear condition and vibration etc, and updates the optimum drilling parameters. The drillers just adjust drilling parameters to follow them, a higher ROP (rate of penetration) and a longer bit run can be achieved. SDI has been applied for more than 20 wells with total footage of over 30,000ft and has shown about 20%-54% ROP improvement and longer bit life compared with conventional driller's drilling habits and totally 125 days and about 1 million dollars have been saved. As an effective tool for further excavating the potential of ROP, SDI might achieve satisfactory outcomes that overcome the drilling challenges of carbonate formation, gravel and igneous in deep wells.

To examine the skin whitening capabilities of shikimic acid pathway compounds and find the most effective molecule to be used as the active ingredient for skin whitening products.Skin whitening is the practice of using chemical substances to lighten skin tone by the lessening the concentration of melanin. The whitening efficacy of shikimic acid pathway compounds was evaluated. Eight compounds in the shikimic acid pathway were chosen for this study: benzoic acid, p-coumaric acid, vanillic acid, syringic acid, quinic acid, shikimic acid, orcinol monohydrate, and phenyl pyruvic acid. We measured the tyrosinase inhibitory capacity of the compounds in the animal model of zebrafish and also evaluated the compounds' anti-oxidant activities using the DPPH radical scavenging, and ABTS+ free radical scavenging tests. Compounds' cytotoxicity effects were also evaluated.Amongst eight shikimic acid pathway compounds used in this study, shikimic acid was the most potent tyrosinase-inhibitor and the most efficient compound to be used as an active ingredient for skin whitening. Shikimic acid revealed a good radical scavenging activity (RAS) with low cell toxicity.Promising results obtained in this study may open a new window of opportunity to introduce another compound to be used in the skin-whiting cosmetics industry.
