Introduction More than 50% of pregnant women experience dizziness frequently in the first two gestational trimesters. During pregnancy, the changes in the metabolism of hormones are responsible for the ovarian cycle resulting in either peripheral or central vestibular alterations. The need for the study is to focus on the effect of changes during pregnancy on the vestibular evoked myogenic potential, an electrophysiological measure that investigates functions of the otolith structures. Objectives The aim is to investigate the vestibular evoked myogenic potential responses during the first trimester of pregnancy. Methods A total of 17 pregnant women and 17 non-pregnant women with age matched took part in this study. The cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential were recorded from the ipsilateral sternocleridomastoid muscle and the ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential were recorded from contralateral extraocular muscle in both groups. Results Peak to peak amplitude of cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential was found to be significantly reduced in the responses obtained from first-trimester pregnant women when compared to that of non-pregnant women. Conclusions Vestibular evoked myogenic potential tests exhibits a clinically significant reduced peak to peak amplitude in the first trimester of pregnancy, which indicates dysfunction in the otolith reflex pathway.

Because there is a monetary reward in publishing false/fraudulent evaluations, there has been significant growth in misleading opinion spam on online review platforms. A fake review, often known as a fraudulent review or opinion spam, is a false review. Positive ratings of a specific object may attract more consumers and improve sales, while unfavourable evaluations may result in lower demand and sales. These fake/fraudulent reviews are produced with the intent of deceiving potential consumers to promote/hype or discredit their businesses. Our research aims to determine if a review is genuine or not.

The aim of the present work is to develop a new, simple, sensitive, accurate and analytical method of developing and validating the stability indicating estimation of felodipine in pharmaceutical tablet dosage form using RP-HPLC. The API was supplied by Aurobindo Pharma Ltd, Hyderabad. The chromatographic separation was done with Inertsil ODS _2 C_18 (100 × 4.6mm, 3μ) using HPLC Shimadzu (2010 CHT) instrument with LC solutions software. The suitable wavelength for the determination of felodipine is 238nm where it gave a good sensitivity for the assay using UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The mobile phase was optimized to Buffer: Acetonitrile: Methanol in proportion 2:2:1 v/v respectively. The method was performed with flow rates 1ml/min. Temperature was maintained at Ambient. Standard deviation and %RSD were calculated and obtained as 0.3% respectively. LOD and LOQ were found to be 0.56μg/ml, 1.71μg/ml respectively. The Accuracy i.e, %Recovery for 50, 100 and 150% levels are obtained as 98.13%, 99.56%, 98.52% respectively. The % degradation results were within the limits and the method was validated.

Purpose To evaluate the clinical characteristics of intraocular hemorrhages among babies screened for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and thereby their additional risk to the progression of ROP. Methods A descriptive study was conducted at a tertiary referral hospital, which included 108 eyes of 60 neonates who were discovered to have retinal hemorrhages on retinal screening of 540 babies at risk for ROP. Maternal, obstetric, and neonatal risk factors were assessed in neonates with retinal hemorrhages. Retinal hemorrhages were assessed in terms of type, area, and relation to different retinal zones. Results Among 540 neonates who were screened, retinal hemorrhages were found in 11.2% (n = 60 babies). Elderly primigravida mothers and spontaneous vaginal deliveries with prolonged second stage of labor were a common maternal risk factors for retinal hemorrhages. Low birth weight and preterm were fetal risk factors with neonatal retinal hemorrhages. These hemorrhages were more often bilateral (no. of babies = 48, 80%). Flame-shaped hemorrhages were more common than dot and blot ones. The majority of cases (no. of eyes = 74, 65%) resolved within 4 weeks, whereas four babies (8 eyes, 7.4%) progressed to ROP were treated with laser. Conclusion Retinal hemorrhages in neonates are commonly associated with prolonged duration of second stage of labor, advanced maternal age, and anemia. Although not all progress to ROP, recognizing preterm and low birth weight babies with junctional hemorrhages is crucial not to delay the treatment. Regular follow-up until the clearance of hemorrhages and monitoring systemic conditions in these babies of amblyogenic age-group are required.

Background: To prevent post-partum hemorrhage the concept of active management of third stage of labour has been proposed which decreases the blood loss by 40-68%. The best preventive strategy is active management of the third stage of labour. The objective of the study was to study risk factors of postpartum hemorrhage and indications for caesarean section. Methods: A hospital based cross sectional study was carried out among 100 women at term for a period of one year. Pregnant women who are at term i.e. at 38-39 weeks of gestation were included in the study. Detailed history, clinical examination and investigations were carried out. Results: The mean pre pregnancy BMI in study group was 22.4±3.96. The majority of patients recruited were primiparous. Socio-demographic data shows that there was no statistical difference in place of residence, occupation and level of literacy between two groups. The prevalence of anemia among women at term was found to be 43%. The most common obstetric high risk factor was gestational diabetes mellitus in 10% followed by gestational hypertension in (6%). 71% of women underwent the emergency LSCS. The most common indication for LSCS was fetal distress in 29% of cases followed by mal-presentation in 12% of cases. Conclusions: The prevalence of anemia among women at term was found to be 43%. The different medical high risk factors were human immunodeficiency virus positive (asymptomatic diagnosed during pregnancy), Hepatitis B antigen positive, cardiovascular risk, hypothyroidism, epilepsy observed in the groups. Other high risk factors included asthma, Crohns disease, and systemic sclerosis.

Background: In India, caesarean section rate is rising, so the impact of prophylactic injection of tranexamic acid in decreasing blood loss during caesarean section would be more beneficial in terms of having minimal blood loss intra operatively and post operatively and thereby decreasing maternal morbidity. The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of prophylactic tranexamic acid in reducing blood loss during and after caesarean section. Methods: A randomized controlled trial among 200 term women with singleton pregnancy for a period of 2 years was carried out. They were randomized by computer generated numbers into two groups: study group-100 women receiving prophylactic tranexamic acid women and control group-100 women receiving placebo. Results: The blood loss during caesarean section was less in the tranexamic acid group compared to the placebo group. Similarly blood loss measured 6hrs after caesarean section was less in the tranexamic acid group compared to placebo group. 20-40min before the time of incision was the ideal time gap for administering the injection tranexamic acid for its optimum efficacy. Tranexamic acid group had lesser requirement of uterotonic when compared to placebo, but need for blood transfusion was similar in both the groups. Greater fall in the hemoglobin and haematocrit occurred in placebo group compared to tranexamic acid group. No changes in the post-operative vitals or side effects were seen in the tranexamic acid group. Even no change in birth weight and Apgar scores was seen in neonates of tranexamic acid group. Conclusions: Injection tranexamic acid is the, antifibrinolytic agent that can be used for prophylactic administration before caesarean section for decreasing blood loss during surgery.

This paper presents harmonic current estimation using neural network for a power electronic converter. Three types of popular neural architectures namely single hidden layered Feedforward architecture, multi hidden layered Feedforward neural architecture, cascade architecture are considered for investigation. The non-linear load namely diode bridge uncontrolled rectifier with resistive inductive (RL) load is chosen for study. All the three architectures are trained and tested using MATLAB simulation. The performance of three types of neural architectures is compared in terms of accuracy and complexity for harmonic current estimation. The suitable neural architecture is identified for harmonic current estimation. The results obtained are presented.

To do so different spam detection methodologies are developed and employed for providing an effective mailing service to the users. In this paper, we present various spam detection methods that are existing and also finding the accurate, effective and reliable spam detection method.
