Background and Aim: Lifestyles and behavoiral patterns of patients must be known to improve public health and to prevent cardiovascular diseases (CVD). In this study, we aimed to provide insights into the lifestyles and behavioral patterns of patients applied to outpatient cardiology clinics in Turkey. Materials and Methods: The participants completed a self-administered questionnaire about awareness of cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and individual CV risk levels, lifestyles, and medications. Results: A total of 2793 patients, 52.1% of females with a mean age of 57.0 ± 14.0 years were included. The most common risk factor was hypertension. The most common CVD was coronary artery disease. The calculated CV risk level of 1041 patients (37.3%) was high, while only 20.4% of all participants identified themselves as high risk. Participants were aware that hypertension, smoking, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, sedentary, family history, and aging were risk factors for CVD. About 44% of the patients reported that they used additional salt and the majority reported that they did not consume fast food. The most commonly prescribed CV drug was beta-blockers (44.9%) and 22.4% of patients were taking minimum of 5 drugs daily. Conclusion: The awareness of CV risk factors and risk levels is low in the study population. Guideline recommended medications and lifestyle changes are not sufficiently implemented.

Bu çalışma kapsamında, Krom (Cr) ve Mangan (Mn) içeren GaMnCrAs epitabaka yapının optik özelliği sıcaklığabağlı fotoiletkenlik (Fİ) tekniği ile araştırılmıştır. GaMnCrAs’in alaşım kompozisyonu ikincil iyon kütlespektroskopisi ile %3 Mn ve %0.5 Cr olarak belirlenmiştir. Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu (SEM) görüntüsündenGaAs tampon tabakası ve GaMnCrAs epitabakası arayüzeyinin keskin olmadığı ve dislokasyonların olduğugözlenmiştir. Fİ ölçümleri sonucunda, en şiddetli Fİ sinyali 30 K gibi düşük sıcaklıklarda elde edilmiştir. Bu durumdüşük sıcaklıklarda aktif olmayan kusurlardan kaynaklanmaktadır. Orta sıcaklıklarda, aktif hale gelen kusurlarınfoto-uyarılmış taşıyıcıları tuzaklamasından kaynaklı Fİ sinyali baskılanmıştır. Bu durum örneklerin yarı-yalıtkankarakterisitiğinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Tüm foto-uyarılmış ve termal olarak uyarılarak aktive olmuş taşıyıcılaryapı içerisinde bulunan doğal kusurlar tarafından tuzaklanmaktadır. Yüksek sıcaklıklarda Fİ sinyali GaAs’in bandaralığı enerjisinin altında ve üstünde net bir şekilde elde edilmişken band kenarlarında herhangi bir optik geçişgözlemlenmemiştir., In this study, optical properties of Chrome (Cr) and Manganese (Mn) containing GaMnCrAs epilayer areinvestigated using temperature dependent photoconductivity (PC) technique. Alloy composition is determinedwith secondary ion mass spectroscopy as 3% Mn and 0.5% Cr in GaMnCrAs. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) image shows that the interface between GaAs buffer layer and GaMnCrAs epilayer is not abrupt and threadlikedislocations in GaAs are present. We observed the highest PC signal at the lowest temperature (T= 30 K)which can be explained in terms of non-activated defects at such low temperatures. At the intermediatetemperatures, PC signals were suppressed due to the activation of the defects causing to trap of the photo-generatedcarriers. Such behaviour is originated from the semi-insulating character of the samples. Since photo-generatedand thermally activated carriers are trapped by defects in the GaMnCrAs epilayer at high temperatures, the clearPC signal can be only observed both below and above fundamental bandgap energy of GaAs, while no opticaltransition between the band edges.

The fresh stem and leaves Rheum ribes, species of Polygonaceae family, are consumed as vegetable in Lebanon, Iran and eastern Turkey. Recently, crude drug materials from this plant are used in pharmacological research in Asian countries. In this study, in vitro phytochemical, antioxidant and antibacterial activity of the extracts prepared at 10-100 mg/mL concentrations by using ethyl acetate, hexane, methanol and distilled water from stem parts of Rheum ribes were examined. The extraction efficiency varies depending on the solvents and the highest extraction efficiency was calculated as %25.3 at methanol extract. The highest total phenolic and flavonoid contents were determined 0.80 ± 0.00 mg GAE/g and 0.321 ± 0.00 mg RE/g at 100 mg/mL concentration of methanolic extract. DPPH· radical scavenging activity of methanolic stem extract was %91.10±0.51 (IC50 dose 10.50 mg/mL). The highest Fe(II) ions chelating activity (49.70±3.10%), reduction capacity (0.19±0.00) and superoxide anion scavenging activity (39.20 ± 2.40%) were recorded at methanol extract. Ethyl acetate, hexane and methanol extracts of Rheum ribes not showed antibacterial activity against test bacteria. Antibacterial activity of distilled water extract was in the range of 9.00±1.00 and 14.50±1.50 mm. The highest inhibitory effect was observed against S. aureus with 14.5 ±1.50 mm zone diameter., Polygonaceae familyasının türü olan Rheum ribes’in taze gövde ve yaprakları Lübnan, İran ve Türkiye’nin doğusunda sebze olarak tüketilmektedir. Son zamanlarda farmakolojik alanlarda kullanılan bu bitkiden Asya ülkelerinde saf ilaç materyalleri üretilmektedir. Çalışmamızda, Rheum ribes gövde kısımlarından etil asetat, hekzan, metanol ve saf su çözücüleri kullanılarak 10-100 mg/mL konsantrasyonlarda hazırlanan özütlerin in vitro fitokimyasal, antioksidan ve antibakteriyel aktiviteleri incelenmiştir. Çözücülere bağlı olarak ekstraksiyon verimi değişmekle birlikte en yüksek ekstraksiyon verimi (%25.3), en yüksek total fenolik (0.80±0.00 mg GAE/g) ve flavonoid içerik (0.321±0.00 mg RE/g) 100 mg/mL konsantrasyonda metanol özütünde belirlenmiştir. Rheum ribes metanol gövde özütünün DPPH· süpürme aktivitesi %91.10±0.51 olarak kaydedilmiş olup IC50 dozu 10.50 mg/mL’dir. En yüksek Fe(II) iyonlarını şelatlama aktivitesi %49.70±3.10, indirgeme kapasitesi (0.19±0.00) ve süperoksit anyonu giderme aktivitesi (%39.20±2.40) 100 mg/mL konsantrasyonda metanol özütünde belirlenmiştir. Rheum ribes’in etil asetat, hekzan ve metanol özütlerinin test bakterileri üzerinde antibakteriyel aktivite gösteremediği belirlenmiştir. Saf su özütünün gösterdiği antibakteriyel aktivite 9.00±1.00 ve 14.50±1.50 mm zon çapı aralığındadır. En yüksek inhibitör etki 14.50±1.50 mm zon çapı ile S. aureus’a karşı gözlenmiştir.

Bu metin, mimari miras bağlamında bilgisayarla görü ve derin öğrenme yöntemlerinin kullanımına ilişkin bir çalışmanın değerlendirmesidir. Bir tür derin öğrenme yöntemi olan evrişimli sinirsel ağ(CNN), Anadolu Selçuklu süs desenlerini sınıflandırma amacı ile uygulanmıştır. Bilgisayarla görü, mimari miras alanında bilgi sağlama ve çalışmalara yardımcı olma kapasitesine sahip olsa da, her iki alandaki bilgileri bir araya getiren sınırlı sayıda çalışma vardır. Mimarlık tarihini çalışmalarında sıkça karşılaşılan konulardan biri olan Anadolu Selçuklu süsleme desenlerinin sınıflandırılması, söz konusu potansiyeli araştırmak için bir örnek olarak seçilmiştir. Proje, veri toplama kolaylığı nedeniyle düz yüzeylerde oyma ile edilen süsleme desenlerine odaklanmıştır. Çalışma için kullanılacak fotoğraflar bir araya getirilmiş ve iki farklı ancak birbiriyle ilişkili veri kümesi oluşturacak şekilde işlenmiştir. Sınıflar ve alt sınıflar bitkisel (seyrek / yoğun), geometrik (seyrek / yoğun) olarak belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra derin öğrenme modellerini eğitmek ve süsleme sınıfı öngörülerini elde etmek adına iki farklı evrişimli sinirsel ağ(CNN) mimarisi kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları hem teknik hem de mimari açıdan incelenmiştir. Veri kümesi oluşturmanın hem uygulama hem süreç üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Böylece çalışma, gelecekteki kültürel miras ve yapay zeka konularında disiplinler arası araştırmalara temel oluşturmayı amaçlamıştır., This paper is a critical assessment of an exploration of computer vision and deep learning methods in an architectural heritage context. Convolutional neural network, a type of deep learning is implemented to classify a group of Anatolian Seljuk ornamental patterns. The field of computer vision offers the potentials to assist studies in the field of architectural heritage. However, there are limited studies that combine knowledge across the two fields. One frequently studied topic is image classification based on features. In this study, we took on the task of classifying Anatolian Seljuk ornamental patterns to investigate the potential. The project focused on carved ornamental patterns on flat surfaces due to ease of data collection. The group of images is collected and arranged as two different yet related datasets. The classes are floral and geometrical, and subclasses are sparse and dense for both. Two different CNN architectures are used to train models for predictions. The process and effect of dataset creation on the implementation are explained. Results are discussed from both the technical and architectural points of view, providing a basis for further interdisciplinary studies.

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the mortality, morbidity, postoperative course, and mid-term complications of patients who underwent surgical repair of ventricular septal defect (VSD) after the infantile period. Patients and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 80 patients, older than 1 year, who were operated in our center between 2014 and 2018. We defined “prolonged” as the condition in which the mechanical ventilation was more than 24 hours, ICU stay was longer than 3 days, and hospital stay was longer than 7 days. We considered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, need for extracorporeal membrane oxygenator, complete atrioventricular block requiring permanent pacemaker (PM) implantation, diaphragm paralysis, neurological complications, acute renal failure, and unplanned reoperation as the major adverse events (MAE). Results: The median age of patients was 3 (1.5-20) years. There were 31 (38.8%) female patients in our study. The median operation weight was 12.3 kg (8-60). Indications for operations were pulmonary hypertension (PH) in 30 (37.5%) patients, aortic regurgitation and aortic valve prolapse in 30 (37.5%) patients, and left ventricular (LV) dilatation in 20 (25%) patients. We did not observe mortality in any of the cases. We observed MAE only in one patient (1.3%) (PM implantation). The mean follow-up period was 2.9 ± 1.9 years. Pulmonary arterial pressure decreased significantly after surgery (20% vs. 0% of patients with severe PH, p < 0.001). Left ventricular end-diastolic diameters (LVEDDs) were significantly decreased after operation, and this condition persisted in the mid-term follow-ups (LVEDD: 36.9 ± 9.7 vs. 33.0 ± 6.6, p= 0.02). Conclusion: Patients with VSD who are awaiting spontaneous closure after the infantile age are highly recommended to undergo rigorous follow-ups. A meticulous examination of patients with late onset VSD preoperatively with a prompt referral to surgery will maintain satisfactory outcomes in early and late mortality and morbidity rates., Giriş: Bu çalışmada infantil dönem sonrası opere edilen ventriküler septal defekt hastalarının mortalite, morbidite gelişimi, postoperatif seyir ve orta dönem komplikasyon açısından değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. Hastalar ve Yöntem: Merkezimizde 2014-2018 yılları arasında ventriküler septal defekt (VSD) tanısı ile opere edilmiş bir yaş üstü 80 hasta retrospektif olarak incelendi. Uzamış mekanik ventilasyon > 24 saat, uzamış yoğun bakım > 3 gün, uzamış hastane kalışı ise > 7 gün olarak kabul edildi. İstenmeyen yeniden operasyon, kalıcı bir kalp pilini gerektiren kalp bloğu, mekanik destek ihtiyacı, nörolojik defisit, diyafram paralizisi ve ani dolaşım durması majör advers olay olarak kabul edildi. Bulgular: Ortanca yaş 3 (1.5-20) yıl idi. Hastaların 31 (%38.8)’i kız idi. Ortanca operasyon kilosu 12.3 kg (8-60) idi. Operasyon endikasyonu 30 (%37.5) hastada pulmoner hipertansiyon, 30 (%37.5) hastada aort kapak yetmezliği ve prolapsusu, 20 (%25) hastada ise sol ventrikül genişlemesi olarak saptanmıştır. Operasyona bağlı mortalite gözlenmemiştir. Majör advers olay bir hastada (pacemaker implantasyonu) (%1.3) gözlenmiştir. Hastaların ortalama takip süresi 2.9 ± 1.9 yıl saptanmıştır. Takipte pulmoner arter basınç düzeyi operasyon sonrası dönemde operasyon öncesi döneme göre anlamlı düşmüştür (ileri PHT’li hasta sayısı %20 vs. %0, p< 0.001). Operasyon sonrası erken dönemde sol ventrikül sonu diyastolik çaplarında belirgin azalma gözlendiği ve bu durumun orta dönemde de devam ettiği görülmüştür (36.9 ± 9.7 vs. 33.0 ± 6.6, p= 0.02).Sonuç: İnfantil dönem sonrası VSD tanılı olgularda spontan kapanmanın beklendiği hastaların takiplerinin titizlikle yapılması ve geç başvuran hastaların preoperatif ayrıntılı şekilde değerlendirilmesi ve cerrahi tamire uygun hastaların bekletilmeden opere edilmesi erken ve uzun dönem mortalite ve morbiditeye olumlu katkı sağlayacaktır.

Polisiye türü ve polisiye romanın genelde edebi türe özgün bir formül ve çerçeve içerisinde yazıldığı düşünülür. Ancak, bu tezin amacı, 1970'li yıllardan sonra, klasik polisiye roman yazınında, cinsiyet ve ataerkil ideoloji ile bağlantıları olan ciddi bir yol ayrımı yaşandığı savını araştırmak ve mümkünse ispatlamaktır. P.D. James'in kadınların profesyonel tercihleri ve gelişimlerini engelleyen sınırları sorgulayan ve yıkmaya çalışan 1970'lerin `yeni kadın` kavramını örnekleyen detektif figürünü resmettiği Kadınlara Göre Değil (1972) adlı kitabıyla başlayan bu edebi yol ayrımı, Martin Amis'in, özellikle kurgusal detektifin geleneksel karakter tasviri, dilin daima polisiye türüne özgü bir biçimde kullanılışı, gerilimin her zaman tepe noktasına ulaştığı ve çözümlendiği alışılagelmiş anlatım tarzı, ve suçun hep benzer türde ve özellikte olması ve sonuçlarının hep aynı şekilde cezalandırılması gibi polisiye roman türüne has klişeleri yıktığı ve aynı zamanda polis teşkilatında çalışan bir kadın detektifin bu maskülen ortamda var olmasının zorluklarını ve belki de imkansızlığını ele alan Gece Treni (1997) gibi eserlerle devam eder. Çalışmada ele alınan üç romanın, polisiye türüne özgü yapıları yıkmasının geleneksel kadın ve erkek ilişkilerinin ve toplumdaki tipik rollerinin sorgulamasıyla paralel olduğu görülür. Detective fiction and detective novel have always been stigmatized as a formulaic convention with strict generic features and definite boundaries, yet, the argument of this dissertation is to claim a significant generic deviation taking place after 1970s with repercussions on arguments about gender and patriarchal ideology. Beginning with P.D. James's An Unsuitable Job for a Woman (1972) which portrays a female detective as a representative for the `new woman` of 1970s subverting the stereotypical detective masculine in the genre and the patriarchal boundaries set around women's professional preferences and growth, the deviation continues with Martin Amis's Night Train (1997) which not only challenges the generic traditions of the detective novel particularly in the areas of characterization of the fictional detective, the specific use of language in the genre, the triangular climactic plot and the denouement following the climax, the nature and type of the crime and its repercussions, but also draws attention to the difficulty and perhaps impossibility to survive in an extremely masculine working environment in a patriarchal society, that is the police officer. Graham Swift's The Light of Day (2003), furthers the deviation and subverts the traditional narrative structure of classic detective novels, and the detective as a `saviour` in classic examples of detective novel is transformed into an anti-hero or an anti-detective who cannot or will not either save the society from the crime or restore the order disturbed by the crime. Moreover, the traditional supreme authority and the male gaze of conventional detective figures in the genre are challenged in Swift's novel to an extent that obviously depower the gazer and question its authority against women. The dissertation, thus, concludes that not only do these three novels explored in the study undermine various generic traditions of classic detective novel, but also the detective figures presented in these works challenge stereotypical gender roles in patriarchy. 229
