In this thesis, we deal with the model theory of algebraically closed fields expanded by predicates to denote either elements of small height or multiplicative subgroups satisfying a Diophantine condition. The questions we consider belong to the area of stability theory. First, we investigate an algebraically closed field with a distinguished multiplicative subgroup satisfying the Mann property. We characterize the independence which enables us to characterize definable and interpretable groups in the pair. Then we study the model theory of algebraically closed fields expanded by a proper algebraically closed subfield and a multiplicative subgroup. We characterize definable and interpretable groups in this triple. We also consider the set of algebraic numbers with elements of small height and we show that this theory is not simple and has the independence property. We then relate the simplicity of a certain pair with Lehmer’s conjecture. Finally, we apply nonstandard analysis to prove the existence of certain height bounds on the complexity of the coefficients of some polynomials. This allows us to characterize the ideal membership of a given polynomial. Moreover, we obtain a bound for the logarithmic height function, which enables us to test the primality of an ideal, Dans cette thèse, nous traitons la théorie des modèles de corps algébriquement clos étendu par prédicats pour désigner soit des éléments de hauteur bornée, soit des sous-groupes multiplicatifs satisfaisant une condition diophantienne. Les questions que nous considérons appartiennent au domaine de la théorie de la stabilité. Tout d'abord, nous examinons un corps algébriquement clos avec un sous-groupe multiplicatif distingué qui satisfait la propriété Mann. Puis, nous nous rapportons à la simplicité d'une certaine paire avec la conjecture de Lehmer. Enfin, nous appliquons l'analyse non standard pour prouver l'existence de certaines bornes de hauteur de la complexité des coefficients de certains polynômes. Cela nous permet de caractériser l'appartenance idéale d'un polynôme donné. De plus, nous obtenons une borne pour la fonction de la hauteur logarithmique, ce qui nous permet de tester la primalité d'un idéal

Bu çalışmada ilk olarak herhangi bir x reel sayısına kadar olan asallarınsayısı üzerine sonuç veren Asal Sayı Teoremi kanıtlanacaktır. Daha sonraüçüncü bolümde Wiener-Ikehara Tauberian Teoremini kanıtlayıp, bununsonucunda Asal Sayı Teoremini kanıtlamak için Riemann Zeta fonksiyonununRe(s)=1 doğrusu üzerinde hiç sıfırının olmamasının yeterli olacağını göstereceğiz.Dördüncü bolümde, Beurling'in genelleştirilmiş Asal Sayı Teoremini tamsayıların sadeceçarpma altında kapalı olan kümeleri üzerine kanıtlayacağızve bu teoremin sınırlarını araştıracağız. In this study, we first prove the classical Prime Number Theorem whichgives an estimate on the number of primes not exceeding x where xis a given real number.Then, in the third chapter we prove the Wiener-Ikehara Tauberian Theoremand as a result of this theorem, we deduce the Prime Number Theorem just from the non-vanishingof the Riemann Zeta function on the line Re(s)=1.In chapter four, we prove Beurling's Generalized Prime Number Theoremon semi-groups of integers and we investigate the boundary condition of this theorem.Also, we consider the partial sums of the Mobius function over such semi-groupsand we show the difference between the Generalized Prime Number Theorem andthe partial sums of the Mobius function over semi-groups.Based on this difference, in the last part (which is a joint work withmy supervisor Assoc. Prof. Emre Alkan) we give quantitative estimates on partial sums of theMobius function over semi-groups that are also in a given arithmetic progression.Lastly, we apply our results to the fractions. 81

The /emph{$n$-th harmonic number} is the sum of the first $n$ terms of the harmonic series, namely$$h_n = /sum_{k=1}^n /frac 1 k,$$for $n /ge 1$. These numbers enjoy several arithmetic properties. For instance, it was first shown by Theisinger in 1915 that the $n$-th harmonic number is not an integer, when $n /ge 2.$ A generalization of these numbers was introduced by Conway and Guy in 1996. They defined /emph{the $n$-th hyperharmonic number of order $r$} as $$h_n^{(r)} = /sum_{k=1}^n h_k^{(r-1)},$$where $h_n^{(1)} = h_n$ and $n,r /in /mathbb Z^+$ such that $n /ge 1$ and $r /ge 2$. In 2007, it was conjectured by Mez/H o that there does not exist any hyperharmonic integer except 1. In the same paper, he also proved that $h_n^{(r)}$ is not an integer, for any integer $n>1$ and $r /le 3.$ In this thesis, we improve the known upper bounds for the order of non-integer hyperharmonic numbers. In particular, we show that for any $r /le 35/, 001$ and $n>1$, the corresponding hyperharmonic number is not an integer. Also, if $n$ is even or a prime power, or $r$ is odd, then the same property holds for $h_n^{(r)}$. Moreover, using the prime numbers in short intervals, we deduce that almost all $(n,r)$ tuples give us hyperharmonic numbers which are not integers. On the contrary, our final analysis leads to the existence of hyperharmonic integers. More precisely, for $r=64/cdot(2^/alpha - 1) +32$, the hyperharmonic number $h_{33}^{(r)}$ is integer for 153 different values of $/alpha /mod{748/, 440}$, where the smallest $r$ is equal to $64/cdot(2^{2659} - 1) +32$. This construction yields the infinitude of hyperharmonic integers, and refutes the conjecture of Mez/H o. 85

In this paper, we study the field of algebraic numbers with a set of elements of small height treated as a predicate.We prove that such structures are not simple and have the independence property.A real algebraic integer $\alpha>1$ is called a \textit{Salem number} if $\alpha$ and $1/\alpha$ are Galois conjugate and all other Galoisconjugates of $\alpha$ lie on the unit circle. It is not known whether 1 is a limit point of Salem numbers.We relate the simplicity of a certain pair with Lehmer's conjecture and obtain a model-theoretic characterizationof Lehmer's conjecture for Salem numbers.

We study groups definable in tame expansions of $\omega$ -stable theories. Assuming several tameness conditions, we obtain structural theorems for groups definable and interpretable in these expansions. As our main example, by characterizing independence in the pair $(K,G)$ , where $K$ is an algebraically closed field and $G$ is a multiplicative subgroup of $K^{\times}$ with the Mann property, we show that the pair $(K,G)$ satisfies the assumptions. In particular, this provides a characterization of definable and interpretable groups in $(K,G)$ in terms of algebraic groups in $K$ and interpretable groups in $G$ . Furthermore, we compute the Morley rank and the $\operatorname{U}$ -rank in $(K,G)$ and both ranks agree.

Bu çalışmada ilk olarak sayı cisimleri ve bu sayı cisimlerinin cebirsel tamsayı halkalarına değineceğiz. Herhangi bir sayı cisminin cebirsel tamsayılar halkasının tamsayıca kapalı bir Noether halkası olduğunu ve asal ile maksimal ideallarinin örtüştüğünü göstereceğiz. Son olarak, sayı cisimlerinin ideal sınıf sayısının farklı yollarla hesaplama yollarından bahsedeceğiz. In this thesis, we first introduce number fields and their rings of integers. We show that the ring of integers of a number field is an integrally closed, Noetherian ring such that its prime and maximal ideals coincide. Namely, it is a Dedekind domain. To study the ring of integers of a number field in details, we present a geometric approach so that the number field is embedded inside a finite dimensional real vector space. By doing so, we show that the class number of the number field is finite. In addition, we characterize the group of units of $/mathcal{O}_K$ via geometric methods. After that, we define the Dedekind zeta function of a number field. It is a generalization of the Riemann zeta function. Moreover, we present the Analytic Class Number Formula, which states that the Dedekind zeta function converges for any complex number with real part greater than 1 and has a simple pole at the point 1. Its residue at the point 1 is given by invariants of the number field. Lastly, we present various arguments to evaluate the class number of various number fields. 67

In this note, first we show that there is no uniform divisor bound for the Bezout identity using Dirichlet's theorem on arithmetic progressions. Then, we discuss for which rings the absolute value bound for the Bezout identity is not trivial and the answer depends on the number of small primes in the ring., ValCoMo; MALOA

In this paper, we study an algebraically closed field $$\Omega $$ expanded by two unary predicates denoting an algebraically closed proper subfield k and a multiplicative subgroup $$\Gamma $$ . This will be a proper expansion of algebraically closed field with a group satisfying the Mann property, and also pairs of algebraically closed fields. We first characterize the independence in the triple $$(\Omega , k, \Gamma )$$ . This enables us to characterize the interpretable groups when $$\Gamma $$ is divisible. Every interpretable group H in $$(\Omega ,k, \Gamma )$$ is, up to isogeny, an extension of a direct sum of k-rational points of an algebraic group defined over k and an interpretable abelian group in $$\Gamma $$ by an interpretable group N, which is the quotient of an algebraic group by a subgroup $$N_1$$ , which in turn is isogenous to a cartesian product of k-rational points of an algebraic group defined over k and an interpretable abelian group in $$\Gamma $$ .

In this study, we find height bounds in the polynomial ring over the field of algebraic numbers to test the primality of an ideal. We also obtain height bounds in the arithmetic Nullstellensatz. We apply nonstandard analysis and hence our constants will be ineffective.
