Cultured meat, also known as "in-vitro meat," "clean meat," "synthetic meat," "lab-grown meat" and many other nomenclatures, represents one of the most recent controversial food technologies, even with its environmental benefits. Although the market success of cultured meat depends on consumers' acceptance, specific characteristics such as name and packaging color can influence consumers' perceptions and acceptance of the food product. This study assessed the impact of the name and packaging color of cultured meat on consumers' behavioral intentions toward its consumption in Italy. With the assumption that names and packaging colors affect consumers' acceptance differently, according to their characteristics and food neophobia, this study used a finite mixture model to analyze the stimulus impacts across different groups of consumers. The results showed that food neophobia plays a relevant role in individual response to name and packaging color of cultured meat. Context: The COVID19 pandemic stressed U.S. health systems beyond their capacity and created worsening clinical outcomes. Hospital a Home (HaH) programs were utilized infrequently prior to pandemic. The Acute Care at Home Waiver was introduced in 2020 to facilitate the creation of HaH programs with a goal of promoting treatment in the home setting. A potential alternative approach to creating rapid inpatient level health system capacity is providing hospital-level care at home to substitute for inpatient hospitalization. The overall impact on clinical outcomes of a HaH program in patients with COVID19 is not well understood. Objective: To compare clinical outcomes of a HaH program versus usual hospital care for patients admitted for COVID19. Study Design: Matched case-control retrospective chart review. Setting or Dataset: Academic medical center. Population studied: Patients admitted with COVID19 and subsequently enrolled into the HaH program from February 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022. Patients aged <18 were excluded from consideration for enrollment. A case-control sample was matched on age, gender, and severity of illness. A total of 200 patients (100 HaH and 100 control) were included for analysis. Outcome Measures: Primary outcome: 30-day readmissions, Secondary outcomes: Inpatient length of stay (iLOS) defined as length of stay in the physical hospital, total length of stay (tLOS) (sum of iLOS and HaH program days), time to readmission, and 30-day emergency department visits. Results: Analysis included 200 patents. The mean age was 50.4. The sample was 55% female. 48.5% were black, 43.5% were white, and 8% were other races. Compared with usual care patients, HaH patients had no difference in 30-day readmissions (11% vs. 14%, p=0.648), mean days to readmission (9.0 vs. 11.8, p=0.201), or return ED visits (17% vs. 20%, p=0.701). Inpatient LOS (5.7 vs. 9.4 days, p=0.005) was shorter in the HaH group. Total LOS (13.0 vs. 9.4 days, p<0. 001) was longer in the HaH group. Conclusions: The HaH program was associated with no difference in readmissions, time to readmission, or return ED visits compared to usual hospital care. HaH programs were associated with shorter inpatient length of stays, but longer total length of stays. In surge times, HaH programs could potentially reduce iLOS and increase bed capacity. Fungi are an essential component of marine ecosystems, although little is known about their global distribution and underwater diversity, especially in sediments. Microplastics (MPs) are widespread contaminants worldwide and threaten the organisms present in the oceans. In this study, we investigated the fungal abundance and diversity in sediments, as well as the MPs, of three sites with different anthropogenic impacts in the Mediterranean Sea: the harbor of Livorno, the marine protected area "Secche della Meloria"; and an intermediate point, respectively. A total of 1526 isolates were cultured and identified using a polyphasic approach. For many of the fungal species this is the first record in a marine environment. A comparison with the mycobiota associated with the sediments and MPs underlined a "substrate specificity", highlighting the complexity of MP-associated fungal assemblages, potentially leading to altered microbial activities and hence changes in ecosystem functions. A further driving force that acts on the fungal communities associated with sediments and MPs is sampling sites with different anthropogenic impacts.

Climate change (CC) is one of the main contributors to health emergencies worldwide. CC appears to be closely interrelated with air pollution, as some pollutants like carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and black carbon are naturally occurring greenhouse gases. Air pollution may enhance the allergenicity of some plants and, also, has an adverse effect on respiratory health. Children are a uniquely vulnerable group that suffers disproportionately from CC burden. The increasing global warming related to CC has a big impact on plants' lifecycles, with earlier and longer pollen seasons, as well as higher pollen production, putting children affected by asthma and allergic rhinitis at risk for exacerbations. Extreme weather events may play a role too, not only in the exacerbations of allergic respiratory diseases but, also, in favouring respiratory infections. Even though paediatricians are already seeing the impacts of CC on their patients, their knowledge about CC-related health outcomes with specific regards to children's respiratory health is incomplete. This advocates for paediatricians' increased awareness and a better understanding of the CC impact on children's respiratory health. Having a special responsibility for children, paediatricians should actively be involved in policies aimed to protect the next generation from CC-related adverse health effects. Hence, there is an urgent need for them to take action and successfully educate families about CC issues. This paper aims at reviewing the evidence of CC-related environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, rainfall and extreme events on respiratory allergic diseases and respiratory infections in children and proposing specific actionable items for paediatricians to deal with CC-related health issues in their clinical practice.

The paper investigated whether information about the health benefit produced by lycopene could influence consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) for canned crushed tomatoes enriched with lycopene. An additional aim was to determine whether the main socio-demographic variables, such as sex, age, income and selected attitudinal factors, affect WTP. To this end, a non-hypothetical experimental auction was carried on with five repeated rounds. Results show a relevant impact of information on WTP in the case of lycopene-enriched products, whereas no difference in bids emerges for the conventional product, either on average or at the quantiles. Previous knowledge seems to have a modest influence upon WTP, but it shows a significant interaction with the information shock provided during the experiment, so that the effect of the latter is more pronounced when previous knowledge is low. This article discusses how the primary care physician shortage impacts health outcomes, specifically diabetes. The effect of the availability of primary care physicians on diabetes care management is examined by assessing primary care physician-to-population ratios and comparing those ratios against evidence-based medicine preventive practices for diabetes care. A discussion is included as to how the Patient-Centered Medical Home model can greatly contribute to primary care success through better care delivery implementation methods.

This article discusses and illustrates the alignment between the National Committee for Quality Assurance's Patient-Centered Medical Home and Meaningful Use. In addition to the various overlaps, there is also significant discussion about Patient-Centered Medical Home and Meaningful Use as well as their distinct requirements. With impending deadlines for Meaningful Use and potential penalties being imposed, this article provides a layout of dates, stages, and incentive payments and penalties for Meaningful Use, and discusses how obtaining Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition could be beneficial to achieving Meaningful Use.
