Moringa oleifera is one of the most promising plants in aquaculture because it improves the health status, zootechnical parameters and resistance against diseases. This research evaluates the physicochemical, antioxidant values of spray-dried Moringa oleifera seed extract microencapsulates obtained at 140 and 180 °C with whey protein concentrate (WPC) and maltodextrin (MD) as wall materials in two different proportions: WPC 100% and WPC-MD (3:1). Also, immune response of peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL) of Longfin yellowtail Seriola rivoliana stimulated with spray-dried Moringa oleifera seed for 24 h was assessed. The physicochemical parameters show that the recovery yield for all the treatments was of 65% and microencapsulates demonstrated to be stable in the physicochemical tests with low solubilization times and protection against humidity. For WPC-MD (3:1)/140 °C, bioactive compound retention and antioxidant potential were higher than in other combinations. The immunological test show that any treatments was non-cytotoxic against peripheral blood leukocytes. WPC-MD (3:1)/140 °C treatment enhanced immune parameters as phagocytosis, respiratory burst, myeloperoxidase activities and nitric oxide production. Immune related genes as IL-1β and TNF-α were up-regulated in those stimulated leukocytes with WPC-MD (3:1)/140 °C. Apoptosis is a universal and continuous event during tissue development, restoration, repair, and regeneration. Mounting evidence has demonstrated that apoptosis is essential for the activation of tissue regeneration. However, the underlying mechanism remains elusive. A striking development in recent years comes from research on extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from apoptotic cells. During apoptosis, cells secrete vesicles of various sizes containing various components. Apoptotic cell-derived EVs (ApoEVs) have been found to transit to neighboring cells or cells in distant tissues through the circulation. These vesicles could act as containers to transmit the nucleic acid, protein, and lipid signals to target cells. ApoEVs have been shown to promote regeneration in the cardiovascular system, skin, bone, muscle, kidney, etc. Moreover, several specific signaling pathways mediating the anabolic effects of ApoEVs have been classified. In this review, we comprehensively discussed the latest findings on the function of ApoEVs in tissue regeneration and disease prevention. These findings may reveal unexpected clues regarding the regulatory network between cell death and tissue regeneration and suggest novel targets for regenerative medicine. The findings discussed here also raise the question whether and to what extent ApoEVs contribute to embryonic development. This question is all the more urgent because the exact functions of apoptotic events during numerous developmental processes are still largely unclear.

The aim of the present study was to determine if space allocation influenced the concentration of biomolecules in buffalo milk and dairy products. Intensively housed buffaloes (n = 96) were randomly assigned to 2 groups according to days in milk, parity, and milk yield: group S10 had a space allocation of 10 m2 per buffalo and group S15 had a space allocation of 15 m2 per buffalo. Individual milk yield was recorded daily. Twice a month, a bulk milk sample was collected for each group, as well as whey, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese, to assess cheese yield and to conduct HPLC-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry, milk antioxidant activity, and cell viability analyses. We tested milk extracts from the 2 groups in vitro to evaluate their efficacy in counteracting endothelial oxidative damage induced by high glucose. We evaluated reproductive function in 28 buffaloes from each group using the Ovsynch-timed artificial insemination program. We observed no differences in milk quantity or quality in terms of fat, protein, or lactose, and reproductive function did not differ between the 2 groups. Compared with group S10, group S15 had higher concentrations of carnitine (56.7 ± 1.1 vs. 39.8 ± 0.7 mg/L in milk and 40.9 ± 0.8 vs. 31.7 ± 0.7 mg/L in whey), acetyl- l -carnitine (51.9 ± 0.3 vs. 39.7 ± 0.7 mg/L in milk and 41.1 ± 1.7 vs. 28.7 ± 2.6 mg/L in whey), propionyl- l -carnitine (34.8 ± 1.0 vs. 21.0 ± 0.9 mg/L in milk and 26.9 ± 0.8 vs. 17.6 ± 1.2 mg/L in whey), glycine betaine (23.1 ± 1.9 vs. 13.5 ± 1.6 mg/L in milk and 10.7 ± 0.4 vs. 7.9 ± 0.5 mg/L in whey), and δ-valerobetaine (24.2 ± 0.5 vs. 16.7 ± 0.5 mg/L in milk and 22.0 ± 0.9 vs. 15.5 ± 0.7 mg/L in whey). Group S15 also had higher total antioxidant activity than group S10 (56.7 ± 1.9 vs. 46.4 ± 1.13 m M Trolox equivalents). Co-incubation of high-glucose-treated endothelial cells with milk extracts from group S15 improved cell viability compared with cells treated with high glucose only; it also reduced intracellular lipid peroxidation (144.3 ± 0.4 vs. 177.5 ± 1.9%), reactive oxygen species (141.3 ± 0.9 vs. 189.3 ± 4.7 optical density units), and cytokine release (tumor necrosis factor-α, IL-1β, IL-6). Greater space allocation was associated with higher levels of biomolecules in buffalo milk. This could have been the result of improved welfare in buffaloes that were allocated more space. The biological way of metallic nanoparticles production using ecofriendly biocontrol agents are largely used to control many plant pathogenic microorganisms in agriculture. Hence, an attempt was made to evaluate the potential of suppressive activity of nanoparticles produced by an indigenous isolate, Trichoderma atroviride against a tea pathogenic fungus namely Phomopsis theae. The presence of biosynthesised nanoparticles was primarily confirmed through ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy analysis and was characterised using X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy‐energy dispersive X‐ray analysis to delineate the size, shape and nature of particles. Further, Fourier transform infrared analysis revealed the functional biomolecules responsible for capping and stabilisation of nanoparticles. In addition, culture filtrate containing nanoparticles was subjected to invitro antifungal studies which revealed a considerable suppression on the growth of P. theae. The biosynthesised nanoparticles were found to be active even after 3 months which established and confirmed the stability. Finally, field experiments conducted with soil application and wound dressing of nanoparticles exhibited a significant reduction in canker size when plants treated with gold followed by silver nanoparticles. Similarly, improvement in leaf yield was noted in response to these treatments. The above study confirmed the efficacy of metallic nanoparticles in management of stem disease in tea plantation. It has been well documented that the yeasts isolated from different marine environments are so versatile that they can produce various fine chemicals, enzymes, bioactive substances, single cell protein and nanoparticles. Many genes related to the biosynthesis and regulation of these functional biomolecules have been cloned, expressed and characterized. All these functional biomolecules have a variety of applications in industries of food, chemical, agricultural, biofuel, cosmetics and pharmacy. In this review, a summary will be given about these functional biomolecules and their producers of the marine yeasts as well as some related genes in order to draw an outline about necessity for further exploitation of marine yeasts and their bio-products for industrial applications. • pH and Si variations have strong impact on metabolite production in marine diatoms. • Chlorophyll and carotenoid content increased with increasing silicate concentration. • Metabolites enhanced with increased in silica concentrations and decreased in pH. Diatom algae are increasingly explored as an alternative sustainable source for functional biomolecules likes fucoxanthin, and eicosapentaenoic acid. But biomolecule quantity and quantity are influenced by growth conditions. So, effect of differential silica concentration (0–120 mg L-1) and medium pH (5.5–9.5) on growth and cellular biochemical composition of commercially important marine diatom species were studied. Growth rate of Thalassiosira sp., Skeletonema sp., and Chaetoceros sp. , was higher with 30 mg L-1 Si at a pH of 7.5–8.5. Highest carbohydrate (153.71 mg g−1) and protein (17.34 mg g−1) content was found in Skeletonema sp. Silica concentration positively influenced chlorophyll and carotenoid content in a dose dependent manner. A medium pH of 8.5 and Si concentration between 60 and 120 mg L-1 was ideal for lipid production. The optimum concentration of Si and pH for maximum biomolecule production have been reported with further scope of utilizing these conditions in commercial scale systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
