Abstract Previous research has suggested that circulating inflammatory proteins are associated with benign prostatic disease (BPD). This Mendelian randomization (MR) study was conducted to further investigate the causal relationship between 91 inflammatory proteins and BPD. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) summarized data of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis were obtained from the FinnGen Biobank. The latest study offered the GWAS data on 91 proteins related to inflammation. We performed a bidirectional MR to investigate the causal association between inflammatory proteins and BPD. The outcomes of the IVW method indicated that decreased levels of circulating interleukin-17 C (IL-17 C) (OR = 0.92, 95%CI = 0.85–0.99, p-value = 0.0344) were suggestively associated with a higher risk of BPH and elevated levels of interleukin-10 receptor subunit alpha (IL-10RA) (OR = 1.24, 95%CI = 1.05–1.47, p-value = 0.0132) and urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) (OR = 1.13, 95%CI = 1.00–1.28, p-value = 0.0421) were suggestively related to a higher risk of prostatitis. Furthermore, reverse MR revealed that BPH may promote the expression of circulating factors, including natural killer cell receptor 2B4 (CD244) (OR = 1.07, 95%CI = 1.01–1.13, p-value = 0.0192), T-cell surface glycoprotein CD6 isoform (CD6) (OR = 1.07, 95%CI = 1.01–1.13, p-value = 0.0192), and leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIF-R) (OR = 1.07, 95%CI = 1.01–1.15, p-value = 0.0163). Moreover, the results of sensitivity analyses indicate that heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy are unlikely to distort the findings. The results of this study indicate a potential association between circulating inflammatory proteins and BPD, which may become new diagnostic indicators or drug targets for clinical application in the prevention and treatment of BPD. However, further investigation is required.

PurposeWe sought to develop and validate a nomogram for predicting extra-urinary recurrence (EUR) following radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) in patients with upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC).MethodsData from 556 UTUC patients post-RNU at the First Hospital of Jilin University were retrospectively analyzed. These patients were categorized into a training group (n=389) and a validation group (n=167). Variables significantly associated with prognosis were identified using univariate Cox regression and most minor absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) analysis. These independent predictors were incorporated into the nomogram to estimate extra-urinary recurrence-free survival (EURFS). Validation of the nomogram involved ROC curves, calibration plots, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Patients were stratified into two risk categories based on their nomogram scores to compare EURFS using the Kaplan-Meier method.ResultsEight predictors were identified: T-stage, N-stage, tumor grade, local and nerve invasion, preoperative hemoglobin level, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and creatinine, all proving to be independent predictors of EUR. A nomogram was created based on these eight factors, and using the ROC, calibration curves, and DCA, good prediction results were shown in both the training and validation groups. Abstract The spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) ensures chromosome segregation fidelity by manipulating unattached kinetochore‐dependent assembly of the mitotic checkpoint complex (MCC). The MCC binds to and inhibits the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) to postpone mitotic exit. However, the mechanism by which unattached kinetochores mediate MCC formation is not yet fully understood. Here, it is shown that CCDC68 is an outer kinetochore protein that preferentially localizes to unattached kinetochores. Furthermore, CCDC68 interacts with the SAC factor CDC20 to inhibit its autoubiquitination and MCC disassembly. Therefore, CCDC68 restrains APC/C activation to ensure a robust SAC and allow sufficient time for chromosome alignment, thus ensuring chromosomal stability. Hence, the study reveals that CCDC68 is required for CDC20‐dependent MCC stabilization to maintain mitotic checkpoint activation.

Summary: The Streptomyces antibiotic regulatory proteins (SARPs) are ubiquitously distributed transcription activators in Streptomyces and control antibiotics biosynthesis and morphological differentiation. However, the molecular mechanism behind SARP-dependent transcription initiation remains elusive. We here solve the cryo-EM structure of an AfsR-loading RNA polymerase (RNAP)-promoter intermediate complex (AfsR-RPi) including the Streptomyces coelicolor RNAP, a large SARP member AfsR, and its target promoter DNA that retains the upstream portion straight. The structure reveals that one dimeric N-terminal AfsR-SARP domain (AfsR-SARP) specifically engages with the same face of the AfsR-binding sites by the conserved DNA-binding domains (DBDs), replacing σHrdBR4 to bind the suboptimal −35 element, and shortens the spacer between the −10 and −35 elements. Notably, the AfsR-SARPs also recruit RNAP through extensively interacting with its conserved domains (β flap, σHrdBR4, and αCTD). Thus, these macromolecular snapshots support a general model and provide valuable clues for SARP-dependent transcription activation in Streptomyces.

Epidemiological evidence concerning whether exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and its components was linked to an elevated risk of hospitalizations for chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains insufficient. Moreover, it remains unclear whether ambient temperatures have potential modification effects on PM2.5's impacts. In the current study, we collected a nationwide sample of 2,259,240 hospitalization records for CKD in 260 Chinese cities. The associations between air pollutants and CKD hospitalizations were determined by the space-time-stratified case-crossover design. We further assessed the effects of PM2.5 and its components in three temperature strata [i.e., lowest (75th)]. The findings demonstrated the significant and monotonic associations between risk of CKD hospitalizations and exposure to PM2.5, black carbon (BC), sulfate (SO42−), nitrate (NO3−), ammonium (NH4+), and organic matter (OM). For instance, along with an interquartile range increment in PM2.5 (29.47 μg/m3), the relative risks (RR) were 1.016 (95 % confidence interval [CI]:1.012–1.019) at lag 0–4 days. Higher ambient temperature significantly exacerbated the estimated impact of PM2.5 and its components on CKD hospitalizations, while significantly stronger associations were also observed at lower temperature for SO42− and NO3−. The modification effects of non-optimum temperatures varied among different etiologies of CKD and geographic regions. This study provides insights into the joint kidney health effects of climate change and air pollution. These findings highlight the necessity of protection measures against high concentration of PM2.5 and non-optimum temperatures for the vulnerable populations.

To address the problem of inefficient continuous multi-task scheduling operations, a scheduling model was established with the optimization objective of minimum total scheduling time to solve the problem of agricultural machinery continuous performing multiple tasks in agricultural production in hilly areas. An Improved Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-III (Improved NSGA-III) was proposed to solve the agricultural machinery scheduling problem. The algorithm employed a two-stage coding mechanism to ensure the uniform distribution of the population and reduce the search solution space. The selection of paternal individuals is based on crowding degree, enabling individuals with better genes to participate in evolution. The domain search strategy of partial solution was introduced to improve the global search ability of the algorithm. The performance of the Improved NSGA-III algorithm and the other three algorithms was compared using farmland data from the experimental area. Results showed that the Improved NSGA-III algorithm outperforms the other three algorithms in terms of minimum total scheduling time, with reductions of 13.89%, 43.81% and 57.19%, respectively, verifying the effectiveness and reliability of the algorithm.

Abstract To study the role of energy system demand‐side regulation capacity on carbon emission reduction, we proposed a regional integrated energy system (RIES) optimal dispatch model considering carbon trading cost and dynamic demand response (DR). First, based on the framework of the RIES, the impact of DR of transferable load, reducible load, and substitutable load demand on system operation, considering the response characteristics of electrical and thermal load, was analyzed. Second, the carbon quota of the system was analyzed, and the effect of carbon emissions and carbon capture technology on system operation was considered. Finally, a low carbon optimized operation model of RIES was established with system operating cost and operating efficiency as the target, and system capacity and energy storage power as the constraints. The effectiveness of the optimized operation of the improved intelligent evolutionary algorithm nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA‐II) was verified as a research method. The results show that the energy efficiency of the system can be improved by tuning the DR of load demand with the application of the optimal operation model, and a coordination optimization on the economic and low carbon in RIES operation can also be achieved by the improved NSGA‐II algorithm.

Background: High blood pressure (HBP) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are two of the most prevalent cardiometabolic disorders globally, especially among individuals with lower socio-economic status (SES). Studies have linked residential greenness to decreased risks of HBP and DM. However, there has been limited evidence on whether SES may modify the associations of residential greenness with HBP and DM. Methods: Based on a national representative cross-sectional study among 44,876 adults, we generated the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) at 1 km spatial resolution to characterize individuals’ residential greenness level. Administrative classification (urban/rural), nighttime light index (NLI), individual income, and educational levels were used to characterize regional urbanicity and individual SES levels. Results: We observed weaker inverse associations of NDVI with HBP and DM in rural regions compared to urban regions. For instance, along with per interquartile range (IQR, 0.26) increment in residential NDVI at 0∼5 year moving averages, the ORs of HBP were 1.04 (95%CI: 0.94, 1.15) in rural regions and 0.85 (95%CI: 0.79, 0.93) in urban regions (P = 0.003). The development of efficient and environmentally friendly photocatalysts is crucial for addressing global energy and environmental challenges. Perylene diimide, an organic supramolecular material, holds great potential for applications in mineralized phenol. In this study, through the integration of different mass ratios of unmodified perylenimide (PDI-NH) into the self-assembly of amino acid-substituted perylenimide (PDI-COOH), a novel supramolecular organic heterojunction (PDICOOH/PDINH) was fabricated. The ensuing investigation focuses on its visible-light mineralized phenol properties. The results show that the optimal performance is observed with a composite mass fraction of 10%, leading to complete mineralization of 5 mg/L phenol within 5 h. The reaction exhibits one-stage kinetics with rate constants 13.80 and 1.30 times higher than those of PDI-NH and PDI-COOH, respectively. SEM and TEM reveal a heterogeneous interface between PDI-NH and PDI-COOH. Photoelectrochemical and Kelvin probe characterization confirm the generation of a built-in electric field at the interface, which is 1.73 times stronger than that of PDI-COOH. The introduction of PDI-NH promotes π-π stacking of PDI-COOH, while the built-in electric field facilitates efficient charge transfer at the interface, thereby enhancing phenol decomposition. The finding demonstrates that supramolecular heterojunctions have great potential as highly effective photocatalysts for environmental remediation applications.

The increasing frequency of heat waves under the global urbanization and climate change background poses elevating risks of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Nevertheless, there has been no evidence on associations between long-term exposures to heat waves and CKD as well as the modifying effects of land cover patterns. Based on a national representative population-based survey on CKD covering 47,086 adults and high spatial resolution datasets on temperature and land cover data, we found that annual days of exposure to heat waves were associated with increased odds of CKD prevalence. For one day/year increases in HW_975_4d (above 97.5 % of annual maximum temperature and lasting for at least 4 consecutive days), the odds ratio (OR) of CKD was 1.14 (95 %CI: 1.12, 1.15). Hypertrophic scars affect a significant number of individuals annually, giving rise to both cosmetic concerns and functional impairments. Prior research has established that an imbalance in the composition of gut microbes, termed microbial dysbiosis, can initiate the progression of various diseases through the intricate interplay between gut microbiota and the host. However, the precise nature of the causal link between gut microbiota and hypertrophic scarring remains uncertain. In this study, after compiling summary data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) involving 418 instances of gut microbiota and hypertrophic scarring, we conducted a bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate the potential existence of a causal relationship between gut microbiota and the development of hypertrophic scar and to discern the directionality of causation. By utilizing MR analysis, we identified seven causal associations between gut microbiome and hypertrophic scarring, involving one positive and six negative causal directions. Among them, Intestinimonas, Ruminococcus2, Barnesiella, Dorea, Desulfovibrio piger, and Ruminococcus torques act as protective factors against hypertrophic scarring, while Eubacterium rectale suggests a potential role as a risk factor for hypertrophic scars. Additionally, sensitivity analyses of these results revealed no indications of heterogeneity or pleiotropy. The findings of our MR study suggest a potential causative link between gut microbiota and hypertrophic scarring, opening up new ways for future mechanistic research and the exploration of nanobiotechnology therapies for skin disorders.

Importance: Climate change mitigation policies aimed at limiting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions would bring substantial health co-benefits by directly alleviating climate change or indirectly reducing air pollution. As one of the largest developing countries and GHG emitter globally, China’s carbon-peaking and carbon neutrality goals would lead to substantial co-benefits on global environment and therefore on human health. This review summarized the key findings and gaps in studies on the impact of China’s carbon mitigation strategies on human health. Highlights: There is a wide consensus that limiting the temperature rise well below 2 °C would markedly reduce the climate-related health impacts compared with high emission scenario, although heat-related mortalities, labor productivity reduction rates, and infectious disease morbidities would continue increasing over time as temperature rises. Further, hundreds of thousands of air pollutant-related mortalities (mainly due to PM2.5 and O3) could be avoided per year compared with the reference scenario without climate policy. Carbon reduction policies can also alleviate morbidities due to acute exposure to PM2.5. Further research with respect to morbidities attributed to nonoptimal temperature and air pollution, and health impacts attributed to precipitation and extreme weather events under current carbon policy in China or its equivalent in other developing countries is needed to improve our understanding of the disease burden in the coming decades. Conclusions: This review provides up-to-date evidence of potential health co-benefits under Chinese carbon policies and highlights the importance of considering these co-benefits into future climate policy development in both China and other nations endeavoring carbon reductions.

Impact of air pollution on incident chronic kidney disease (CKD) in diabetic patients is insufficiently studied. We aimed to examine exposure-response associations of PM2.5, PM10, PM2.5–10, NO2, and NOX with incident CKD in diabetic patients in the UK. We also widened exposure level of PM2.5 and examined PM2.5-CKD association in diabetic patients across the entire range of global concentration. Based on data from UK biobank cohort, we applied Cox proportional hazards models and the shape constrained health impact function to investigate the associations between air pollutants and incident CKD in diabetic patients. Global exposure mortality model was applied to combine the PM2.5-CKD association in diabetic patients in the UK with all other published associations. Multiple air pollutants were positively associated with incident CKD in diabetic patients in the UK, with hazard ratios (HRs) of 1.034 (95 %CI: 1.015–1.053) and 1.021 (95 %CI: 1.007–1.036) for every 1 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5 and PM10 concentration, and 1.113 (95 %CI: 1.053–1.177) and 1.058 (95 %CI: 1.027–1.091) for every 10 μg/m3 increase in NO2 and NOX concentration, respectively. For PM2.5–10, associations with CKD in diabetic patients did not reach the statistical significance. Exposure-response associations with CKD in diabetic patients showed a near-linear trend for PM2.5, PM10, NO2, and NOX in the UK, whereas PM2.5-DKD associations in the globe exhibited a non-linear increasing trend. This study supports that air pollution could significantly increase the risk of CKD onset in diabetic patients.

The force exerted on a cylindrical intruder as it penetrates a granular medium was analyzed utilizing both experiments and the discrete element method (DEM). In this work, a series of penetration experiments were performed, considering cylindrical intruders with different nose shapes. We found that the drag force of the intruder with a hemispherical nose is close to that of those with conical noses with apex angles of 53° and 90°. The drag force of the blunt-nosed intruder is bigger; the drag force of the conical-nosed intruder with an apex angle of 37° is the smallest. We studied the interplay between the drag force on an intruder with a hemispherical nose and key variables—the penetration velocity (V), penetrator’s diameter (di), and friction coefficient (μ). From this analysis, two piecewise functions were derived: one for the average drag force versus the penetration velocity, and the other for the scaled drag force versus the friction coefficient. Furthermore, the average drag force per contact point, Fa/P, can be succinctly represented by two linear relationships: Fa/P = 0.232μ + 0.015(N) for μ<0.9, and Fa/P = 0.225(N) for μ≥0.9.

In order to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of polymer surfactants and analyze their oil displacement mechanisms, three types of poly-surfactant used in the Daqing oil field were chosen to be researched, and the oil displacement effects were studied using poly-surfactants of different viscosity, dehydrating rate, and core permeability. The main purpose is to determine the reasonable range of different characteristic indexes of polymeric surfactant flooding. The oil displacement effect of 15 cores was analyzed, and the effects of viscosity, the dehydrating rate of emulsion, and permeability on EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) were analyzed. The oil displacement mechanisms of polymeric surfactants were researched using a photolithographic glass core. This paper explores the mechanism underlying production enhancement as an EOR target, while simultaneously conducting laboratory tests to assess the physical and chemical properties of polymeric surfactants. The poly-surfactant agents exhibit a notable increase in viscosity, with the optimal displacement effect observed at a core effective permeability exceeding 400 mD, resulting in a potential EOR of 15% or higher. Moreover, at a viscosity ranging between 40 and 70 mPa·s, the total EOR can reach 73%, with the peak efficiency occurring at a viscosity of 60 mPa·s. The water loss rate of the emulsion, ranging between 30% and 70%, achieves optimal performance at 50%. The poly-surfactants’ higher viscosity extends the oil sweep area, enhancing recovery efficiency, and noticeably reducing residual oil compared to water flooding. During poly-surfactant flooding, a substantial amount of residual oil is extracted and transformed into droplets. The rapid emulsification of the polymeric surfactant solution with crude oil forms a stable emulsion, contributing to its significant oil recovery effect. This research provides valuable technical support for EOR in thin and low-quality reservoirs of onshore multi-layered sandstone reservoirs.

Abstract Hereditary primary hypogonadism (HPH), caused by gene mutation related to testosterone synthesis in Leydig cells, usually impairs male sexual development and spermatogenesis. Genetically corrected stem Leydig cells (SLCs) transplantation may provide a new approach for treating HPH. Here, a novel nonsense‐point‐mutation mouse model (LhcgrW495X) is first generated based on a gene mutation relative to HPH patients. To verify the efficacy and feasibility of SLCs transplantation in treating HPH, wild‐type SLCs are transplanted into LhcgrW495X mice, in which SLCs obviously rescue HPH phenotypes. Through comparing several editing strategies, optimized PE2 protein (PEmax) system is identified as an efficient and precise approach to correct the pathogenic point mutation in Lhcgr. Furthermore, delivering intein‐split PEmax system via lentivirus successfully corrects the mutation in SLCs from LhcgrW495X mice ex vivo. Gene‐corrected SLCs from LhcgrW495X mice exert ability to differentiate into functional Leydig cells in vitro. Notably, the transplantation of gene‐corrected SLCs effectively regenerates Leydig cells, recovers testosterone production, restarts sexual development, rescues spermatogenesis, and produces fertile offspring in LhcgrW495X mice. Altogether, these results suggest that PE‐based gene editing in SLCs ex vivo is a promising strategy for HPH therapy and is potentially leveraged to address more hereditary diseases in reproductive system.

Investigating the seepage characteristics of the leaching solution in the ore-bearing layer during the in situ leaching process can be useful for designing the process parameters for the uranium mining well. We prepared leaching solutions of four different viscosities and conducted experiments using a self-developed multifunctional uranium ore seepage test device. The effects of different viscosities of leaching solutions on the seepage characteristics of uranium-bearing sandstones were examined using seepage mechanics, physicochemical seepage theory, and dissolution erosion mechanism. Results indicated that while the seepage characteristics of various viscosities of leaching solutions were the same in rock samples with similar internal pore architectures, there were regular differences between the saturated and the unsaturated stages. In addition, the time required for the specimen to reach saturation varied with the viscosity of the leaching solution. The higher the viscosity of the solution, the slower the seepage flow from the unsaturated stage to the saturated stage. Furthermore, during the saturation stage, the seepage pressure of a leaching solution with a high viscosity was greater than that of a leaching solution with a low viscosity. However, the permeability coefficient of the high viscosity leaching solution was less than that of a low viscosity leaching solution.

Cemented uranium tailings backfill created from alkali-activated slag (CUTB) is an effective method of disposing of uranium tailings. Using some environmental functional minerals with ion exchange, adsorption, and solidification abilities as backfill modified materials may improve the leaching resistance of the CUTB. Natural zeolite, which has good ion exchange and adsorption characteristics, is selected as the backfill modified material, and it is added to the backfill materials with cementitious material proportions of 4%, 8%, 12%, and 16% to prepare CUTB mixtures with environmental functional minerals. After the addition of natural zeolite, the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of the CUTB decreases, but the leaching resistance of the CUTB increases. When the natural zeolite content is 12%, the UCS reaches the minimum value of 8.95 MPa, and the concentration of uranium in the leaching solution is 0.28–8.07 μg/L, the leaching rate R42 is 9.61 × 10−7 cm/d, and cumulative leaching fraction P42 is 8.53 × 10−4 cm, which shows that the alkali-activated slag cementitious material has a good curing effect on the CUTB, and the addition of environmental functional minerals helps to further improve the leaching resistance of the CUTB, but it reduces the UCS to an extent.

High reactivity and ease of ignition are the major obstacles for the application of Mg alloys in aerospace. Thus, the ignition mechanisms of Mg alloys should be investigated systematically, which can guide the ignition-proof alloy design. This article concludes the factors influencing the ignition resistance of Mg alloys from oxide film and substrate microstructure, and also the mechanisms of alloying elements improving the ignition resistance. The low strength is another reason restricting the development of Mg alloys. Therefore, at the last section, Mg alloys with the combination of high strength and good ignition-proof performance are summarized, including Mg-Al-Ca based alloys, SEN (Mg-Al-Zn-Ca-Y) alloys as well as Mg-Y and Mg-Gd based alloys. Besides, the shortages and the future focus of theses alloys are also reviewed. The aim of this article is to promote the understanding of oxidation and ignition mechanisms of Mg alloys and to provide reference for the development of Mg alloys with high strength and excellent ignition-proof performance at the same time.

The mathematical form of many optimization problems in engineering is constrained optimization problems. In this paper, an improved genetic algorithm based on two-direction crossover and grouped mutation is proposed to solve constrained optimization problems. In addition to making full use of the direction information of the parent individual, the two-direction crossover adds an additional search direction and finally searches in the better direction of the two directions, which improves the search efficiency. The grouped mutation divides the population into two groups and uses mutation operators with different properties for each group to give full play to the characteristics of these mutation operators and improve the search efficiency. In experiments on the IEEE CEC 2017 competition on constrained real-parameter optimization and ten real-world constrained optimization problems, the proposed algorithm outperforms other state-of-the-art algorithms. Finally, the proposed algorithm is used to optimize a single-stage cylindrical gear reducer.

Limited studies have examined associations of gaseous air pollutants exposure with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Europe. This study aimed to calculate the relationships between long-term exposure to ambient sulfur dioxide (SO _2 ), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O _3 ), and benzene and CKD in the UK. We included 502 369 participants from the UK biobank cohort. Associations of SO _2 , CO, O _3 , and benzene with CKD were estimated using Co x proportional hazards model. The shape of the exposure-response association between each air pollutant and CKD was then depicted using the shape constrained health impact function. We finally estimated the incidence of CKD attributable to each air pollutant by linking the constructed exposure-response association to the 2019 Global Burden of Disease data. Our results suggested SO _2 , high O _3 days (daily max 8 hr O _3 concentration > 120 µ g m ^−3 ), CO, and benzene were positively associated with the risk of incident CKD. The hazard ratios (HRs) of CKD for SO _2 , CO, and benzene were 1.058 (95% CI: 1.039–1.078), 1.003 (95% CI: 1.001–1.005), and 1.619 (1.433–1.829) for every 1 μ g m ^−3 increase in the concentration, respectively. For high O _3 days, the HR of CKD was 1.044 (95% CI: 1.032–1.056) for every 1 d increase, but correlation to O _3 concentration did not reach the statistical significance in the time-varying model. The risk of CKD increased non-linearly with increasing SO _2 , high O _3 days, and CO, and linearly with increasing benzene. We estimated that 7.9%, 16.0%, 8.0% of incident CKD cases in the UK in 2021 could be attributed to exposure to SO _2 , O _3 , and benzene, respectively. We concluded that exposure to SO _2 , CO, O _3 , and benzene were all positively associated with increased CKD risk. Our findings highlight the importance of considering air pollution while making strategies targeting on CKD management.

Abstract Background The phenomenon of medical migration is common in China. Due to the limited capacity and substantial geographical variation in medical practice, patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) travel more frequently to seek medical care. We aimed to assess the cost-effectiveness of medical migration for CKD patients in China and provide real-world evidence for the allocation of CKD resources. Methods Records of patients with CKD between January 2014 and December 2018 were extracted from a large national database. A patient is defined as a medical migrant if she travelled across the provincial border to a non-residential province to be admitted for inpatient care. The propensity score matching method is used to estimate the effect of medical migration on medical expenditure, length of hospital stay, and in-hospital mortality. The cost-effectiveness is evaluated by comparing the estimated cost per life saved with contemporaneous estimates of the value of a statistical life. Results Among 4,392,650 hospitalizations with CKD, medical migrants accounted for 4.9% in 2018. Migrant patients were estimated to incur a 26.35% increase in total medical expenditure, experience a 0.24-percentage-points reduction in in-hospital mortality rates, and a 0.49-days reduction in length of hospital stay compared to non-migrant patients. Overall, medical migration among CKD patients incurred an average of 1 million yuan per life saved, which accounted for 20–40% of contemporaneous estimates of the value of a statistical life. Compared with migrant patients with self-payment and commercial insurance, migrant patients with public health insurance (urban basic medical insurance and new rural co-operative medical care) incurred lower cost per life saved. Cost per life saved for CKD patients was similar between female and male, lower among older population, and varied substantially across regions. Conclusions The medical care seeking behaviors of CKD patients was prominent and medical resources of kidney care were unevenly allocated across regions. Medical migration led to a reduction in mortality, but was associated with higher medical expenditure. It is imperative to reduce the regional disparity of medical resources and improve the clinical capacity. Our study shows that it is imperative to prioritize resource allocation toward improving kidney health and regional health care planning.

The tissue reconstruction of diabetic wounds mainly depends on the proliferation and remodelling of cutaneous cells around wounds and the transplantation of random skin flaps, however, the proliferation of cells or survival of skin flaps are difficult due to the severe inflammation and other problems caused by diabetes. The stem cell-derived exosomes loaded with miRNA can be an effective therapeutic strategy for promoting diabetic wound healing. Therefore, in this study, the engineered exosomes derived from miR-132-overexpressing adipose stem cells (miR-132-exo) was obtained for promoting the healing of diabetic wounds and skin flaps. In vitro, the miR-132-exo promoted the proliferation and migration of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). In vivo, streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic mice were used to create full-thickness skin wounds and random skin flaps to further investigate the healing effect of miR-132-exo. The results showed miR-132-exo evidently enhanced the survival of skin flaps and promote diabetic wound healing, through reducing local inflammation, promoting angiogenesis and stimulating M2-macrophages polarization mediated by NF-κB signaling pathway. These novel findings demonstrated that engineered miR-132-exo can be a potent therapeutic for treating diabetic wounds and inflammatory-related disease.

In the context of the Chinese government’s policy guidance, there is black soil protection and ecological environment protection. The purpose of this paper is to solve the problem that the soil ecology of the black soil in Northeast China is changing year by year, and it is necessary to explore the sowing and fertilization strategy under the new situation; most Chinese growers rely excessively on their personal experience in the process of soybean sowing and fertilization. In this study, we used “Heihe 43” soybeans and used regression experimental design methods to analyze the effects of planting density, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizer application on soybean yield and to determine the optimal planting density and fertilizer ratios. The study reveals that the optimal soybean planting density in Northeast China is 45.37 × 104 plants/ha, with nitrogen at 98.4 kg/ha, phosphorus at 218.96 kg/ha, and potash at 47.62 kg/ha. Under these conditions, soybean yields can reach 3816.67 kg/ha. This study can provide a theoretical method for decision-making to obtain the optimal planting density and fertilizer ratio for different regions of the farming system.

Since the rolling bearing fault signal captured by a vibration sensor contains a large amount of background noise, fault features cannot be accurately extracted. To address this problem, a rolling bearing fault feature extraction algorithm based on improved pelican optimization algorithm (IPOA)–variable modal decomposition (VMD) and multipoint optimal minimum entropy deconvolution adjustment (MOMEDA) methods is proposed. Firstly, the pelican optimization algorithm (POA) was improved using a reverse learning strategy for dimensional-by-dimensional lens imaging and circle mapping, and the optimization performance of IPOA was verified. Secondly, the kurtosis-square envelope Gini coefficient criterion was used to select the optimal modal components from the decomposed components of the signal, and MOMEDA was used to process the optimal modal components in order to obtain the optimal deconvolution signal. Finally, the Teager energy operator (TEO) was employed to demodulate and analyze the optimally deconvoluted signal in order to enhance the transient shock component of the original fault signal. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified using simulated and actual signals. The results showed that the proposed method can accurately extract failure characteristics in the presence of strong background noise interference.

As an emerging grinding equipment, roller presses are widely used in Cement industry. The current problem with roller press is that the rolls surface is prone to wear and needs to be replaced regularly. This greatly reduces the service life of the roller press and affects the development of the roller press. Therefore, how to reduce the wear on the surface of the roller press and increase the service life of the roller press is an urgent problem that needs to be solved for the current roller press. Current research mainly focuses on the mechanism research of roller press wear and the optimization of rolls surface structure. In this paper, the extrusion force between the stud-lining and the material is calculated by analyzing the stress of the studded rolls under actual working conditions and the compression and rebound characteristics of material layer. The failure modes of studded rolls are mainly divided into two parts. On the one hand, it is fatigue cracking of the roller shaft and stud-lining. On the other hand, it is cracking at the contact between the stud-lining and the stud, and the fracture of the stud. Because the failure modes of the studded rolls are divided into two parts, the studded rolls are divided into two parts for simulation by using ANSYS 18.0. Firstly, the static analysis is carried out on the roller shaft and the stud-lining, and the distribution cloud diagram of the stress and contact pressure of the roller shaft and the stud-lining is obtained, and the stress concentration area is optimized. After optimization, the contact pressure between the roller shaft and the stud-lining is reduced by about 50%. The maximum equivalent stress of the roller shaft and stud-lining has also been reduced. Secondly, a static analysis was conducted on the stud-lining and studs. Since the stud-lining of the studded rolls are composed of stud holes arranged in a certain order. Therefore, stress concentration is prone to occur around the stud hole. The simulation experiment was carried out by changing the optimization schemes such as the assembly method of the stud and the stud-lining, the distance between the studs, and the length of the stud. To reduce the stress concentration of stud and stud-lining. After optimizing the model of the stud and stud-lining, the maximum equivalent stress of the stud-lining and stud decreased by about 10% and 25% respectively. Through the optimized design of roller shafts, stud-lining and studs. The service life of the studded rolls can be effectively improved and the production cost can be reduced. This can provide a reference for the design of the studded rolls.

Dendrophthoe falcata (L.f.) Ettingsh. (DF) and Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq. (DP) have been traditionally used for the treatment of various ailments, such as cancer, ulcers, asthma, paralysis, skin diseases, tuberculosis, and menstrual troubles, in the ethnomedicinal systems of India and Indonesia. Currently, the chemical structures of 46 compounds have been elucidated from DF and DP, including flavonoids, triterpenes, tannins, steroids, open-chain aliphatics, benzyl derivates, and cyclic chain derivatives. In vitro assays have revealed their anti-tumor and anti-microbial activities. In vivo studies have unraveled their pharmacological properties against tumors, depression, fertility disorders, inflammatory responses, and so on. Additionally, their weak toxicity to rats and brine shrimp, as well as their promising applications for pharmaceutical preparations and combined medication, were also revealed. Herein, we not only recapitulated traditional medical uses, phytochemistry, pharmacology, toxicity, and applications of DF and DP but also discussed current research limitations and future perspectives, which are instructive for those interested in them and are committed to advancing parasitic plants to the Frontier of phytomedicine. We highlighted that DF and DP will become promising medical plants rather than being discarded as notorious pests, provided that more and deeper research is undertaken.

A wide variety of today’s engineering material systems consist of multiple layered constituents to satisfy varying demands, e.g. thermal barrier- or hard coatings, thermal- or electrical conduction or insulation layers, or diffusion barriers. However, these layers are commonly only of the order of a few hundred nanometers to microns thick, which renders conventional mechanical investigation of interfacial failure quite challenging, especially if plastically deforming constituents are involved. Herein, we present an in situ study of the mechanical deformation of a WTi-Cu model interface, commonly encountered in the microelectronics industry, utilizing transmission scanning electron microscopy. This approach elucidated the interplay between plastic deformation and fracture processes when loading either perpendicular (mode I) or parallel to the interface (mode II). Under mode I purely ductile failure in the Cu phase, exhibiting dislocation slip facilitated void nucleation and coalescence, was observed with an initiation value for dislocation propagation of Jdislocation≈15 J/m2. Mode II loading exhibited nucleation and propagation of an interface crack, with the initiation value for crack extension as Jcrack≈8.8 J/m2. The results are discussed with respect to the frameworks of classical fracture mechanics and dislocation plasticity, providing fundamental insight into the failure behaviour of elastic–plastic interfaces with respect to loading orientation.

Under the background of global warming, it has been confirmed that heat exposure has a huge impact on human health. The current study aimed to evaluate the effects of daily mean ambient temperature on hospital admissions for obstructive nephropathy (ON) at the population level. A total of 19,494 hospitalization cases for ON in Wuhan, China from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018 were extracted from a nationwide inpatient database in tertiary hospitals according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)− 10 codes. Daily ambient meteorological and pollution data during the same period were also collected. A quasi-Poisson Generalized Linear Model (GLM) combined with a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM) was applied to analyze the lag-exposure-response relationship between daily mean temperature and daily hospital admissions for ON. Results showed that there were significantly positive associations between the daily mean temperature and ON hospital admissions. Relative to the minimum-risk temperature (−3.4 ℃), the risk of hospital admissions for ON at moderate hot temperature (25 ℃, 75th percentile) occurred from lag day 4 and stayed to lag day 12 (cumulative relative risk [RR] was 1.846, 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.135–3.005, over lag 0–12 days). Moreover, the risk of extreme hot temperature (32 ℃, 99th percentile) appeared immediately and lasted for 8 days (RR = 2.019, 95 % CI: 1.308–3.118, over lag 0–8 days). Subgroup analyses indicated that the middle-aged and elderly (≥45 years) patients might be more susceptible to the negative effects of high temperature, especially at moderate hot conditions. Our findings suggest that temperature may have a significant impact on the acute progression and onset of ON. Higher temperature is associated with increased risks of hospital admissions for ON, which indicates that early interventions should be taken in geographical settings with relatively high temperatures, particularly for the middle-aged and elderly.

Uncertain yield and demand often result in unbalanced revenue and risk sharing among agriculture supply chain (ASC) members. Agricultural cooperatives help smallholder farmers enhance their bargaining power via revenue and risk sharing and are a significant bridge between farmers and retailers. Therefore, this study aimed to design a contractual mechanism considering a cooperative’s participation in the coordination of ASCs that face random yield and demand in pursuit of risk and benefit equivalence. We first compared two- and three-echelon decentralized ASCs with a centralized system, and the results indicate that the cooperative’s participation is conducive to redistributing profit between the retailer and farmer. As a verified revenue-sharing (RS) contract cannot coordinate a two-echelon ASC under uncertain yield and demand, we developed a double revenue-sharing (DRS) contract, which has been demonstrated to coordinate an ASC system with the cooperative’s participation. A numerical analysis was conducted to show that the cooperative can influence profit distribution among the upstream and downstream members via wholesale prices. Therefore, equivalence of risk and benefit is realized and fairly allocated among the members under the DRS contract, which is of great significance to the ASC system’s stable and sustainable development.

The green and clean sunlight-driven catalytic conversion of CO2 into high-value-added chemicals can simultaneously solve the greenhouse effect and energy problems. The controllable preparation of semiconductor catalyst materials and the study of refined structures are of great significance for the in-depth understanding of solar-energy-conversion technology. In this study, we prepared nitrogen-doped NiO semiconductors using a one-pot molten-salt method. The research shows that the molten-salt system made NiO change from p-type to n-type. In addition, nitrogen doping enhanced the adsorption of CO2 on NiO and increased the separation of photogenerated carriers on the NiO. It synergistically optimized the CO2-reduction system and achieved highly active and selective CO2 photoreduction. The CO yield on the optimal nitrogen-doped photocatalyst was 235 μmol·g−1·h−1 (selectivity 98%), which was 16.8 times that of the p-type NiO and 2.4 times that of the n-type NiO. This can be attributed to the fact that the nitrogen doping enhanced the oxygen vacancies of the NiOs and their ability to adsorb and activate CO2 molecules. Photoelectrochemical characterization also confirmed that the nitrogen-doped NiO had excellent electron -transfer and separation properties. This study provides a reference for improving NiO-based semiconductors for photocatalytic CO2 reduction.

A back propagation (BP) neural network-based linear constrained optimization method(BPNN-LCOM) was proposed for to solve the problems in linear constraint black box in this paper,hoping to improve the shortcoming of BP neural network-based constrained optimization method (BPNN-COM). In view of minimizing the mathematic model of network output, the basic ideas of BPNN-LCOM wereilluminated,includingmodel design and training, and BP neural network-based global optimization. Firstly, the iteration step size was calculated by optimal step size, and the adjustment step size was calculated by interpolation method, also the iteration speed was accelerated. Secondly, the search direction that iteration point locates on the boundary offeasible region was determined by gradient projection method, which ensured that the iteration process continued along a feasible search direction, and effectively solved the defect of BPNN-COM that sometimes fails to find thetrue optimal solutions. At the same time, the iteration step size along the gradient projection direction was calculated by the optimal constraint step size, which ensured the new iteration point located in the feasible region. Thirdly, the Kuhn-Tucker conditions were introduced to verify whether the iteration point is theoptimization solution that locates on the boundary of feasible region, and it made the termination criterion perfect for BPNN-LCOM.The computation results of two examples showed the effectiveness and feasibility of BPNN-LCOM. The BPNN-LOCM was used to optimize the roller-type bailing mechanism,and the optimal parameters were obtained as follows: round disc diameter was 360 mm, rotationalspeed of the steel rollerwas 250 rpm, feeding quantity was1.7 kg/s, and length-width ratio was 0.8. The corresponding minimum power consumption was 45.8 kJ/bundle. The optimization results were superior to regression analysis and BPNN-COM.The verification test was carried out and the optimization results could improve roller-type bailing mechanism. Verification results showed that the BPNN-LCOM is a feasible method for solving problems in linear constraint black box.

The centrosome composed of a pair of centrioles (mother and daughter) and pericentriolar material, and is mainly responsible for microtubule nucleation and anchorage in animal cells. The subdistal appendage (SDA) is a centriolar structure located at the mother centriole’s subdistal region, and it functions in microtubule anchorage. However, the molecular composition and detailed structure of the SDA remain largely unknown. Here, we identified α-taxilin and γ-taxilin as new SDA components that form a complex via their coiled-coil domains and that serve as a new subgroup during SDA hierarchical assembly. The taxilins’ SDA localization is dependent on ODF2, and α-taxilin recruits CEP170 to the SDA. Functional analyses suggest that α- and γ-taxilin are responsible for SDA structural integrity and centrosomal microtubule anchorage during interphase and for proper spindle orientation during metaphase. Our results shed light on the molecular components and functional understanding of the SDA hierarchical assembly and microtubule organization.

Grain quality is one of the key targets to be improved for rice breeders and covers cooking, eating, nutritional, appearance, milling, and sensory properties. Cooking and eating quality are mostly of concern to consumers and mainly determined by starch structure and composition. Although many starch synthesis enzymes have been identified and starch synthesis system has been established for a long time, novel functions of some starch synthesis genes have continually been found, and many important regulatory factors for seed development and grain quality control have recently been identified. Here, we summarize the progress in this field as comprehensively as possible and hopefully reveal some underlying molecular mechanisms controlling eating quality in rice. The regulatory network of amylose content (AC) determination is emphasized, as AC is the most important index for rice eating quality (REQ). Moreover, the regulatory mechanism of REQ, especially AC influenced by high temperature which is concerned as a most harmful environmental factor during grain filling is highlighted in this review.

Nitrosative stress, as an important oxygen metabolism disorder, has been shown to be closely associated with cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury, aortic aneurysm, heart failure, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. Nitrosative stress refers to the joint biochemical reactions of nitric oxide (NO) and superoxide (O2–) when an oxygen metabolism disorder occurs in the body. The peroxynitrite anion (ONOO–) produced during this process can nitrate several biomolecules, such as proteins, lipids, and DNA, to generate 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT), which further induces cell death. Among these, protein tyrosine nitration and polyunsaturated fatty acid nitration are the most studied types to date. Accordingly, an in-depth study of the relationship between nitrosative stress and cell death has important practical significance for revealing the pathogenesis and strategies for prevention and treatment of various diseases, particularly cardiovascular diseases. Here, we review the latest research progress on the mechanisms of nitrosative stress-mediated cell death, primarily involving several regulated cell death processes, including apoptosis, autophagy, ferroptosis, pyroptosis, NETosis, and parthanatos, highlighting nitrosative stress as a unique mechanism in cardiovascular diseases.

Coarse cereals are rich in dietary fiber, B vitamins, minerals, secondary metabolites, and other bioactive components, which exert numerous health benefits. To better understand the diversity of metabolites in different coarse cereals, we performed widely targeted metabolic profiling analyses of six popular coarse cereals, millet, coix, buckwheat, quinoa, oat, and grain sorghum, of which 768 metabolites are identified. Moreover, quinoa and buckwheat showed significantly different metabolomic profiles compared with other coarse cereals. Analysis of the accumulation patterns of common nutritional metabolites among six coarse cereals, we found that the accumulation of carbohydrates follows a conserved pattern in the six coarse cereals, while those of amino acids, vitamins, flavonoids, and lipids were complementary. Furthermore, the species-specific metabolites in each coarse cereal were identified, and the neighbor-joining tree for the six coarse cereals was constructed based on the metabolome data. Since sorghum contains more species-specific metabolites and occupies a unique position on the neighbor-joining tree, the metabolite differences between grain sorghum 654 and sweet sorghum LTR108 were finally compared specifically, revealing that LTR108 contained more flavonoids and had higher antioxidant activity than 654. Our work supports an overview understanding of nutrient value in different coarse cereals, which provides the metabolomic evidence for the healthy diet. Additionally, the superior antioxidant activity of sweet sorghum provides clues for its targeted uses.

In this paper, the confusion of the sources of medicinal materials was briefly expounded, and the differences among the varieties were pointed out. At the same time, the chemical components and pharmacological properties of Elsholtzia ciliata (Thunb.) Hyland (E. ciliata) were reviewed. The structures of 352 compounds that have been identified are listed. These mainly include flavonoids, terpenoids, phenylpropanoids, alkaloids, and other chemical components. They have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, insecticidal, antiviral, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, analgesic, antiarrhythmic, antitumor, antiacetylcholinesterase, and immunoregulator activities. At present, there are many researches using essential oil and alcohol extract, and the researches on antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and other pharmacological activities are relatively mature. This paper aims to summarize the existing research, update the research progress regarding the phytochemicals and pharmacology of E. ciliate, and to provide convenience for subsequent research.

Abstract Background Spindle microtubule organization, regulated by microtubule-associated proteins, is critical for cell division. Proper organization of kinetochore fiber (K-fiber), connecting spindle poles and kinetochores, is a prerequisite for precise chromosomal alignment and faithful genetic material transmission. However, the mechanisms of K-fiber organization and dynamic maintenance are still not fully understood. Results We reveal that two previously uncharacterized coiled-coil domain proteins CCDC74A and CCDC74B (CCDC74A/B) are spindle-localized proteins in mammalian cells. They bind directly to microtubules through two separate domains and bundle microtubules both in vivo and in vitro. These functions are required for K-fiber organization, bipolar spindle formation, and chromosomal alignment. Moreover, CCDC74A/B form homodimers in vivo, and their self-association activity is necessary for microtubule bundling and K-fiber formation. Conclusions We characterize CCDC74A and CCDC74B as microtubule-associated proteins that localize to spindles and are important K-fiber crosslinkers required for bipolar spindle formation and chromosome alignment.

The Broussonetia genus (Moraceae), recognized for its value in many Chinese traditional herbs, mainly includes Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) L’Hér. ex Vent. (BP), Broussonetia kazinoki Siebold (BK), and Broussonetia luzonica (Blanco) Bureau (BL). Hitherto, researchers have found 338 compounds isolated from BP, BK, and BL, which included flavonoids, polyphenols, phenylpropanoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, and others. Moreover, its active compounds and extracts have exhibited a variety of pharmacological effects such as antitumor, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anti-obesity, antibacterial, and antiviral properties, and its use against skin wrinkles. In this review, the phytochemistry and pharmacology of Broussonetia are updated systematically, after its applications are first summarized. In addition, this review also discusses the limitations of investigations and the potential direction of Broussonetia. This review can help to further understand the phytochemistry, pharmacology, and other applications of Broussonetia, which paves the way for future research.

This experimental study presents the rheological properties and strength characteristics of cemented unclassified tailings backfill (CUTB). The particle size distribution and chemical properties of tailings from the Shizhuyuan lead-zinc mine were examined experimentally. A series of rheological properties and uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) tests were conducted to study the relations between the rheological properties of CUTB and two factors of cement-tailings ratio (c/t) and solid content (SD). The two-factor nonrepetitive analysis of variance (ANOVA) method was used to study the sensitivity of rheological properties to two factors of c/t and SD. Relations between UCS performance of CUTB and c/t, SD, and curing time (CT) were discussed. Results indicate that CUTB samples exhibit obvious shear thinning characteristics and the rheological process is the result of multiple rheological model composites. Yield stress and viscosity of CUTB increase with the increase of SD and c/t as quadratic. The solid content is the most important factor for the rheological properties of CUTB, followed by c/t. UCS of CUTB increases exponentially with the increase of SD and increases with c/t as quadratic. The larger the ratio of c/t, the greater the influence of the CT on the increasing strength of CUTB. The smaller the c/t, the slower the increase of the CUTB’s strength with the increase of the SD. The findings of this study can provide the efficient mix proportion of backfill slurry for the backfill mining design, so as to have better performance of the underground mining structure and reduce the cost of backfill mining.

Backfilling disposal based on cement solidification is one of the ways to solve the environmental and safe problems of uranium tailing surface stacking. Alkali-activated slag, especially sodium silicate activated geopolymer, has become the preferred cementing material for the uranium tailing backfilling system because of its advantages of corrosion resistance and high strength. In this paper, uranium tailings and slag are taken as research objects, and the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) is taken as the main quality index. The preparation method of the cemented uranium tailing backfill based on alkali-activated slag was studied, hereinafter referred to as CUTB. The effects of additive amount, activator amount and activator modulus on the strength of CUTB were investigated. The results show that alkali-activated slag is an effective cementing material for the backfilling system of uranium tailing aggregate. The maximum UCS of 28 d age in the test groups is 16.45 MPa. Quicklime is an important additive for preparing CUTB. When the amount of quicklime is 0%, the early and late strengths of the filling body cannot be measured or at a very low level. At the age of 7 d, the order of each factor is additive amount > activator modulus > activator amount, but at the age of 28 d, the order of each factor is additive amount > activator amount > activator modulus. The test results can provide a basis for choosing cementitious materials for backfilling disposal of uranium tailings.

Good fluidity is the precondition to ensure the pipeline transportation of the filling slurry. The admixture in the filling slurry will affect the rheological properties of the slurry. In this paper, yield stress (YS), viscosity coefficient (VC), and expansion (ED) of the filling slurry were measured by the MCR52 rheometer and expansion tester, respectively, and the influence regularities of the three kinds of admixtures including fly ash (FA), polycarboxylate superplasticizer (PS), and polyethylene oxide (PEO) on the rheological properties of the filling slurry were obtained. The results show that when other conditions are fixed, the fluidity of the slurry becomes worse with the increase of the amount of fly ash but improves with the increase of the amount of the polycarboxylate superplasticizer; polyethylene oxide is not suitable for the improvement of the fluidity of the high-concentration full-tailing filling slurry, and the fluidity of the slurry becomes worse rapidly with the increase of the amount of polyethylene oxide.

In the face of increasingly severe resource and environmental constraints, accelerating the transformation of agricultural green development through agricultural science and technology innovation is an effective measure to reduce agricultural pollution and improve agricultural production efficiency. From the perspective of multidimensional proximity, this paper expounds the mechanism of agricultural science and technology innovation on agricultural green development through spatial spillover from two perspectives: factor spillover path and product spillover path. Based on panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2006 to 2019, using the gray correlation analysis method, the level of agricultural green development in China was measured, and its spatial–temporal evolution trend was analyzed. The spatial economic matrix was selected as the spatial weight matrix, and the spatial econometric model was used to analyze the spatial spillover effect of agricultural science and technology innovation on agricultural green development. The results showed the following: (1) Agricultural green development had distinct spatial characteristics. The development level of green agriculture in eastern and northwestern China showed a trend of fluctuation decline, while that in southwest China showed a trend of fluctuation increase. The overall spatial distribution of green agriculture was high in the east and low in the west. (2) The spatial distribution of agricultural science, technological innovation and the agricultural green development level showed a significant positive global spatial autocorrelation, and the local spatial pattern characteristics of a number of provinces showed high-value agglomeration (HH), low-value agglomeration (LL), low-value collapse (LH) and high-value bulge (HL) as the auxiliary local spatial distribution. (3) Under the economic matrix, the improvement of the agricultural science and technology innovation level not only had a significant promoting effect on agricultural green development within each province but also promoted agricultural green development in neighboring provinces through positive spillover effects. This study provides insights that can help make up for the lack of regional agricultural science and technology investment, formulate scientific regional agricultural science and technology innovation policies and promote agricultural green development.

Cynanchum auriculatum Royle ex Wight. (CA), Cynanchum bungei Decne. (CB) and Cynanchum wilfordii (Maxim.) Hemsl. (CW) are three close species belonging to the Asclepiadaceous family, and their dry roots as the bioactive part have been revealed to exhibit anti-tumor, neuroprotection, organ protection, reducing liver lipid and blood lipid, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and other activities. Until 2021, phytochemistry investigations have uncovered 232 compounds isolated from three species, which could be classified into C21-steroids, acetophenones, terpenoids, and alkaloids. In this review, the morphology characteristics, species identification, and the relationship of botany, extraction, and the separation of chemical constituents, along with the molecular mechanism and pharmacokinetics of bioactive constituents of three species, are summarized for the first time, and their phytochemistry, pharmacology, and clinical safety are also updated. Moreover, the direction and limitation of current research on three species is also discussed.

The systematic and reasonable prediction of pig population is the basis for balance and symmetry between the supply and demand of hogs, which is of great significance to the pig industry. Based on the population prediction model and according to the principle of pig months transfer, this paper referred to the modeling principle and method of the discrete population quantity prediction model and established a related index model that can reflect the pig population development process. The forecasting model we have established includes the following models: (a) a recursive model of pig population, (b) an estimation model of new kept piglets and breeding sows in each month, (c) an estimation model of the initial state of the quantity of the pig population, and (d) a related index model to calculate pig population. On this basis, an example calculation was made to predict the monthly pig population and the quantitative distribution of pigs with different age groups in China from January 2016 to March 2018 in the future. The results showed that the forecasting model of pork supply based on the prediction of pig population is an effective perspective to study the future quantity of pork supply. In the fitting stage, the relative error of the number of slaughtered fattened hogs was 0.0332 and 0.0368. In the prediction stage, the relative error of the quantity of pork supply was 0.0618 and 0.0578.

Seed coat color is determined by the type of pigment deposited in the seed coat cells. It is related to important agronomic traits of seeds such as seed dormancy, longevity, oil content, protein content and fiber content. In Brassica napus, inheritance of seed coat color is related to maternal effects and pollen effects (xenia effects). In this research we isolated a mutation of yellow seeded B. napus controlled by a single Mendelian locus, which is named Embryonal Control of Yellow seed coat 1 (Ecy1). Microscopy of transverse sections of the mature seed show that pigment is deposited only in the outer layer of the seed coat. Using Illumina Hisequation 2000 sequencing technology, a total of 12 GB clean data, 116× coverage of coding sequences of B. napus, was achieved from seeds 26 d after pollination (DAP). It was assembled into 172,238 independent transcripts, and 55,637 unigenes. A total of 139 orthologous genes of Arabidopsis transparent testa (TT) genes were mapped in silico to 19 chromosomes of B. napus. Only 49 of the TT orthologous genes are transcribed in seeds. However transcription of all orthologs was independent of embryonal control of seed coat color. Only 55 genes were found to be differentially expressed between brown seeds and the yellow mutant. Of these 55, 50 were upregulated and five were downregulated in yellow seeds as compared to their brown counterparts. By KEGG classification, 14 metabolic pathways were significantly enriched. Of these, five pathways: phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, cyanoamino acid metabolism, plant hormone signal transduction, metabolic pathways, and biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, were related with seed coat pigmentation. Free amino acid quantification showed that Ala and Phe were present at higher levels in the embryos of yellow seeds as compared to those of brown seeds. This increase was not observed in the seed coat. Moreover, the excess amount of free Ala was exactly twice that of Phe in the embryo. The pigment substrate chalcone is synthesized from two molecules of Ala and one molecule of Phe. The correlation between accumulation of Ala and Phe, and disappearance of pigment in the yellow seeded mutant, suggests that embryonal control of seed coat color is related with Phe and Ala metabolism in the embryo of B. napus.

Based on the perspective of the value chain of agricultural science and technology innovation, in this paper, we divided the process of agricultural science and technology innovation into two stages: the Research and Development (R&D) of agricultural technology and the application of agricultural technology. We took the efficiency of agricultural science and technology innovation of the two stages as a comprehensive index measure for the development of agricultural science and technology innovation in China. On this basis, we used social network analysis to establish a two-stage spatial correlation network for the innovation development of agricultural science and technology in China. The spatial-temporal evolution trends, structural characteristics, and influencing factors of the network were analyzed from the three aspects of the overall, local, and individual network structure. The results show that: a. The development of agricultural science and technology innovation in China demonstrated a clear spatial correlation and spillover effect, and the spatial correlation network was in a connected state. b. The network had the distribution characteristics of ‘core-edge’ and strong stability, and the hierarchical structure of the members of each province in the network was gradually broken. c. The differences at the market level in agricultural science and technology, the differences in government support for agriculture, the geographically adjacent relationships, and the level of agricultural economic development were important factors affecting the spatial correlation of agricultural science and technology innovation. This study provides a policy reference to use a cross-regional coordinated development mechanism to solve the uneven and asymmetry problem of the distribution of elements in various regions in China.
