Regulation of the Chief of Police of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4 of 2015 concerning the treatment of detainees is the basis for the implementation of the duties of police officers of the Bali Police Detention and Evidence Directorate. This study aims to identify and analyze the fulfillment of detainees' rights at the Bali Police Detention Center, as well as to find out the factors that become obstacles in the implementation of the protection of these rights. This type of research uses a normative legal approach supported by empirical with data collection techniques through literature studies, interviews, and observations. The analysis is carried out descriptively and prescriptively to provide a clear picture of the conditions for the fulfillment of detainees' rights. The results showed that the implementation of the fulfillment of detainees' rights in accordance with National Police Chief Regulation Number 4 of 2015 still faces various obstacles. Bali Police detention centers can only implement the provisions stipulated in Article 10, while the provisions in Article 7 governing the placement of detainees are still not optimally implemented. The main obstacle in the implementation of the fulfillment of detainees' rights is caused by the large number of detainees held and limited facilities. Improvement efforts that have been made include the application for the construction of a new building and the loan of special placement cell space. In conclusion, to improve the fulfillment of detainees' rights at the Bali Police Detention Center, there needs to be more attention from the police and adequate policy support, so that all provisions in the National Police Chief Regulation can be implemented optimally and the rights of detainees can be fulfilled properly. Background/Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate patient-reported outcomes of patient expectations and fulfillment of expectations in alpine skiers who had a skiing accident and suffered a complex proximal tibial fracture (AO/OTA—Type B or C) which was treated surgically with open reduction and internal fixation. Methods: In this prospective study, 38 consecutive patients who suffered a complex tibial fracture (AO/OTA—Type B and C) caused by a skiing accident were evaluated. Before surgical treatment with open reduction and internal fixation, patient expectations were evaluated regarding outcomes on knee functionality (e.g., pain) and the return to skiing. At follow-up ≥ 1 year after surgery, an individualized questionnaire was used to evaluate whether their preoperatively formulated expectations had been fulfilled (rated 0–2). In addition, the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), and SF-12 was used. Results: Preoperatively, 76% (n = 29) of patients stated that it was "not so important" to be able to return to their initial skiing level, 50% (n = 19) of patients did not expect to be able to ski again, 34% (n = 13) expected to return to skiing at a significantly lower level, and 16% (n = 6) expected to return to skiing with minor restrictions at most. Postoperatively, the return to skiing rate on initial level was 32% (n = 12); 50% (n = 19) stated that their initial skiing level was not reached again but they were able to ski with moderate restrictions, 10% (n = 4) patients stated that no return to skiing was possible, 50% (n = 19) stated that their expectations were fully met, and n = 7 (18%) stated that their preoperative expectations were not met at all. The mean SF-12 physical component score (PCS) was 52, and the mean mental component score (MCS) was 49.9. The mean Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) was 2.3. The mean KOOS for pain was 86.1 (SD 17.1), for symptoms 62.2 (SD 12.9), for ADL 90.7 (SD 14.4), for sports 74.2 (SD 25.7), and for quality of life (QOL) 66.6 (21.0). Conclusions: After suffering from a complex proximal tibial fracture (AO/OTA—Type B or C) in a skiing accident, preoperative patient expectations to return to skiing is limited. This patient-reported outcome of patient expectations was confirmed by the findings of the patient-reported fulfillment of expectations at least one year after surgery as only 32% of patients returned to their initial skiing level, 50% returned to skiing with limitations, and 50% of patients did not meet their preoperative expectations to return to alpine skiing. The results of this study emphasize the importance of directing patients towards realistic expectations by managing the patients' understanding of the severity of their injury and realistic outcomes, and providing realistic forecasts of postoperative outcomes. The most contentious tenet of Husserl's phenomenology of feelings is his conclusion that there is an analogy between axiological reason and theoretical reason. Simply, Husserl asserts that the axiological validation of feelings is analogical to the theoretical validation of judgments. While the scholarship has debated the merits of Husserl's analogy over the last 120 years, this paper presents a new accurate interpretation, because it is the first to highlight how Husserl develops this analogy by most often comparing the fulfillment of judgments to the fulfillment of wish feeling intentions. Specifically, I examine how Husserl analogizes wish fulfillment to theoretical fulfillment at different times; in the 1901 Logical Investigations, in his 1908 Lectures on Ethics, and in 1910 manuscripts from Studien zur Struktur des Bewusstseins. In light of this original interpretation, I conclude by arguing – contra popular readings – that Husserl does not over‐intellectualize feelings and their validation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Researchers sought to examine experiences of stress, mental health, and work outcomes for those in higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants: Graduate students and professors completed an online survey in June 2020 (N = 1,794). Methods: Participants completed measures of stress, depression, and anxiety as well as items related to work quality, productivity, and fulfillment. Results: 70% of graduate students reported higher than normal levels of anxiety, depression, and stress according to the DASS-21. Nearly half of professors reported higher than normal levels of anxiety, depression, and stress. Multiple linear regression analyses found that higher levels of work fulfillment predicted greater productivity (f2grad =.15; f2prof =.08) and quality of work (f2grad =.10; f2prof =.12). Conclusions: Individuals in higher education are struggling with their mental health and considerations need to be made to help this group. Additionally, we discuss the implications of self-determination theory on work fulfillment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The issue of fulfilling the rights of people with disabilities is still being discussed today. People with disabilities are often considered as citizens of society who are unable to carry out their duties and responsibilities so that they are sometimes not accepted in the world of work and their rights are often ignored. It is not uncommon for people with disabilities to also have limitations in accessing education due to limited SLB, infrastructure and accessibility for them. This phenomenon is starting to receive attention, especially in Gorontalo Province. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the implementation of the fulfillment of work for people with disabilities in Gorontalo Province and find the ideal concept of fulfilling the right to work for people with disabilities. The approach used is a empirical approach with data collection sourced from interviews, questionnaire distribution, literature searches through books, journals, and online media. The results of the study show that the fulfillment of the right to work for people with disabilities has not fully run as expected because it is caused by several factors including discrimination problems, difficulty in obtaining jobs due to the limitations of education and the abilities they have, accessibility and supporting facilities for the fulfillment of the right to education are still limited. The ideal concept of fulfilling the right to work for persons with disabilities is carried out by strengthening the policy framework, strengthening the private sector and the capacity of persons with disabilities and changing the perspective of the public regarding persons with disabilities.

Abstract Background Clinician teachers (physicians who teach in clinical settings) experience considerable psychological challenges in providing both educational training and patient care. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of physician burnout and professional fulfillment, and to identify internal and external factors associated with mental health outcomes among Thai clinician teachers working in non-university teaching hospitals. Method A one-time online questionnaire was completed by physicians at 37 governmental, non-university teaching hospitals in Thailand, with 227 respondents being assessed in the main analyses. Four outcomes were evaluated including burnout, professional fulfillment, quality of life, and intentions to quit. Results The observed prevalence of professional fulfillment was 20%, and burnout was 30.7%. Hierarchical regression analysis showed a significant internal, psychological predictor (clinical teaching self-efficacy) and external, structural predictors (multiple roles at work, teaching support), controlling for the background variables of gender, years of teaching experience, family roles, and active chronic disease, with clinical teaching self-efficacy positively predicting professional fulfillment (b = 0.29, p ≤.001) and negatively predicting burnout (b = − 0.21, p =.003). Conclusions Results highlight the importance of faculty development initiatives to enhance clinical teaching self-efficacy and promote mental health among Thai physicians.

The neo-conservative Catholic movement, led by prominent figures like Richard John Neuhaus and Michael Novak, played a significant role in shaping Jewish–Christian relations in the United States following the Second Vatican Council. This article analyzes their theological understanding of Jews and Judaism, which combined an adoption of the Council's conciliatory rhetoric with a relatively narrow interpretation of its teachings. By examining their views on key concepts such as "fulfillment", salvation, and mission, the article highlights the complexities and tensions within the neo-conservative Catholic approach to interfaith dialogue and its relation to their broader goal of promoting religion in the American public sphere. In his 1956 book Das Gemüt, Stephan Strasser presents an original phenomenological investigation into human happiness and pleasure. We will examine Strasser's theory of happiness in more detail and reveal how he incorporates important phenomenological insights from Thomas Aquinas' theory of the passions of the soul. Both Strasser and Aquinas view happiness as the fulfilment of intentional striving and differentiate between various feelings associated with the pursuit and attainment of a goal, such as joy and pleasure. However, while Aquinas believes that only an imperfect form of happiness can be attained in this life, Strasser aims to determine the essence of the highest form of happiness possible for human beings as the felt anticipation of perfect happiness in the future. Strasser, therefore, interprets Aquinas' theory through the lens of an existential-phenomenological approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Prolonged distress is a risk factor for burnout among health-care providers (HCP) and may contribute to demoralization. We examined sources of distress during the COVID-19 pandemic and associations with demoralization. Methods: This prospective cross-sectional survey of HCP was conducted among palliative care providers of an academic medical center. Participants completed a survey evaluating sources of distress and the Demoralization Scale-II (DS-II) to measure the intensity of demoralization. Results: Of 106 eligible participants, 74 (70%) completed the survey. DS-II median (range) score was 2 (0–19). There were no statistically significant associations with demographic characteristics. Participants reported high rates of distress for multiple reasons and high rates of sense of fulfillment (90%) and satisfaction (89%) with their profession. Significance of results: Our study identified high levels of distress but low demoralization rates. Further study to evaluate fulfillment and satisfaction as protective factors against demoralization and burnout is indicated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Background Barriers exist for the provision of surgery for permanent contraception in the postpartum period. Prenatal counseling has been associated with increased rates of fulfillment of desired postpartum contraception in general, although it is unclear if there is impact on permanent contraception specifically. Thus, we aimed to investigate the association between initial timing for prenatal documentation of a contraceptive plan for permanent contraception and fulfillment of postpartum contraception for those receiving counseling. Methods This is a planned secondary analysis of a multi-site cohort study of patients with documented desire for permanent contraception at the time of delivery at four hospitals located in Alabama, California, Illinois, and Ohio over a two-year study period. Our primary exposure was initial timing of documented plan for contraception (first, second, or third trimester, or during delivery hospitalization). We used univariate and multivariable logistic regression to analyze fulfillment of permanent contraception before hospital discharge, within 42 days of delivery, and within 365 days of delivery between patients with a documented plan for permanent contraception in the first or second trimester compared to the third trimester. Covariates included insurance status, age, parity, gestational age, mode of delivery, adequacy of prenatal care, race, ethnicity, marital status, and body mass index. Results Of the 3103 patients with a documented expressed desire for permanent contraception at the time of delivery, 2083 (69.1%) had a documented plan for postpartum permanent contraception prenatally. After adjusting for covariates, patients with initial documented plan for permanent contraception in the first or second trimester had a higher odds of fulfillment by discharge (aOR 1.57, 95% C.I 1.24–2.00), 42 days (aOR 1.51, 95% C.I 1.20–1.91), and 365 days (aOR 1.40, 95% C.I 1.11–1.75), compared to patients who had their first documented plan in the third trimester. Conclusions Patients who had a documented prenatal plan for permanent contraception in trimester one and two experienced higher likelihood of permanent contraception fulfillment compared to those with documentation in trimester three. Given the barriers to accessing permanent contraception, it is imperative that comprehensive, patient-centered counseling and documentation regarding future reproductive goals begin early prenatally.

- Abstract
The lack of an efficient and ecological tool to assess the development of young students in the French-speaking areas has led to considering the adaptation of Feelings about School (FAS: Valeski & Stipek, 2001) and its enrichment within the French scale of Feelings at School (SSE). This scale is founded on the theory of self-systemic processes, namely on students basic psychological needs' satisfaction: feeling competent, autonomous and in relation. The FAS distinguishes four dimensions of the schoolchild's experience: his relationship with his teacher (F1), his literacy skills (F2), his overall apprehensiveness of school (F3) and his mathematical skills (F4). Our validation of the internal consistency of the SSE with 494 children fulfills three objectives: to ensure the reliability of our translation of the FAS, to test its validity on a cohort including older individuals (6 to 11 years old) in an enriched version, capturing the artistic component. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA), a confirmatory factory analysis (CFA) and an ANOVA were conducted with the collected data. The EFA revealed the five expected factors (i.e., the four original FAS factors and the additional factor on art skills). The CFA then confirmed the reliability of the SSE. The ANOVA revealed a lower score at the SSE for older students (i.e., fifth graders). Promising for applicability, this validated and enriched French tool is intended to be used in scientific research, or in clinical practice, notably by educational psychologists, in order to apprehend the multiple facets of the development of schoolchildren. Given the barriers to accessing permanent contraception, it is imperative that comprehensive, patient-centered counseling and documentation regarding future reproductive goals begin early prenatally. Plain language summary: Permanent contraception is a highly desired form of postpartum contraception in the United States, however there are several barriers to accessing it. In this paper, we investigate whether the timing of when a patient has a documented plan for postpartum contraception has an impact on if they achieve postpartum contraception. This is a cohort study from four hospitals in Illinois, Ohio, California, and Alabama for patients with a desire for postpartum permanent contraception documented in their medical record. We specifically investigated the trimester (first, second, or third) where a patient had a plan for permanent contraception first documented. We then used univariate and multivariate models to determine the relationship between the timing of a plan for permanent contraception and if a patient achieved the procedure at three time-points: hospital discharge, 42-days, and 365-days. Our findings showed that of the 3103 patients in our cohort, only 69.1% of them had a documented plan for postpartum contraception at any point before going to the hospital for their delivery admission. We additionally found that patients who had a documented plan for permanent contraception in the first or second trimester had a higher odds of receiving their postpartum contraception procedure compared to people who had their first documented plan in the third trimester. This showed us the importance of earlier counseling regarding contraception for pregnant patients. There are many barriers to accessing postpartum contraception, so having patient focused counseling about future goals around reproductive health early on in pregnancy is critical. This qualitative study was conducted to understand how Coptic Orthodox priests describe their experiences of fulfillment and/or stress with their work. While many Christian leaders such as pastors, reverends, and clergy helping to serve their church members are represented in the literature, there is limited research on the roles and experiences of the Coptic Orthodox priesthood serving their communities. The Coptic church has been around for centuries, and the church has a history of religious persecution. The research question was "how do Coptic Orthodox priests describe their experiences of fulfillment and/or stress with their work?" The research methodology used in this study was generic qualitative inquiry. There were ten male Coptic Orthodox priests interviewed for this study. These participants were serving in the ministry for over two years. The primary data analysis used for this generic qualitative study was theoretical analysis. The findings of the study indicated that the priests were stressed with administrative responsibilities and helping their congregants. Overall, they felt fulfilled with their ministry because of their social support, self-care practice, and strong relationship with God. Recommendations for future research includes are those who were invited but did not accept the calling and specifically recruited priests who identified as burnt out and the daily experiences of priests' wives and children. - Abstract
This research aims to find out how to provide children's rights in detention centers, especially Depok Class I Detention Center. The type of research in this research is empirical juridical research. Based on the results of data searches, interviews and analysis from the author regarding including children's rights in Depok Class I Detention Center, it can be concluded that in order to fulfill the rights and develop child care providers in Depok Class I Detention Center, the rights of child care providers have not been fully fulfilled. Looking at the educational, health and activity facilities provided for child detainees in Depok Class I Detention Center, it is still very far from perfect. The large number of inmates in the Depok Class I Detention Center and the disproportionate number of staff working in the Depok Class I Detention Center is an obstacle for the Depok Class I Detention Center in supervising and developing child care providers. There is no special children's development institution in Depok, which means that child detainees are forced to serve their prison terms with adult detainees. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Britain in Bloom is a UK national campaign to help people improve their local environment through gardening, a popular and accessible pastime. This research presents a framework to understand the relationships between gardeners and their front gardens (yards). Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of focus group data with 20 Britain in Bloom gardeners in Greater London explores why people garden in front gardens, how social cohesion may emerge from front gardening activities, and the health benefits of the presence of front gardens for residents and passersby. Front gardens played a key role in supporting participants' personal identity and self-expression. Maintaining a front garden was seen as making a positive and satisfying contribution to their local area and to others' pleasure. Social cohesion in the street or neighborhood occurred through informal verbal communication and knowledge-sharing. These findings are relevant to the impacts of front gardens and community greening initiatives in private spaces. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The present study tracked stability and change in college students’ aspirations, as expressed in survey open text entries at two time points three years apart. Interviews with a subset of respondents provided descriptive accounts of their experiences of moral/civic learning connected with their college experiences. Participants (n=640) were drawn from 11 U.S. colleges and universities. Surveys were conducted in winter 2018-2019 and fall 2021. Fifty-four survey respondents participated in hour-long interviews in spring 2021. Most survey respondents’ aspirations were stable over 3 years, with most focusing on contribution beyond-the-self, fulfillment and preparation for vocations. Only a small percentage focused on financial goals or credentialing. Aspirations to contribute beyond-the-self were expressed even more frequently in interviews. When asked to describe what they had learned in courses and extracurricular activities and in their relationships with peers and adults, interviewees described learning relating to ethics and virtue, social justice and civic issues. - Abstract
Introduction: The COVID‐19 pandemic brought unprecedented changes to oral care and dental education delivery. To date, the vast majority of studies focus on the impact COVID‐19 had on the well‐being and wellness of patients, practitioners, and students; however, limited literature addresses the pandemic's impact on dental educators. Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the wellness, well‐being, and fulfillment of dental educators in the years following the onset of the COVID‐19 pandemic. Methods: Following Institutional Review Board approval, an anonymous electronic Qualtrics survey was emailed to full‐time and adjunct faculty across five (5) dental education institutions in the US. Faculty self‐reported on their wellness, general well‐being, physical well‐being, mental well‐being, fulfillment, and work–life balance. Group differences were examined using analysis of variance and the Tukey–Kramer test for multiple comparisons at the p < 0.05 level. Results: The results revealed females and younger dental faculty members reported statistically significantly lower levels of wellness (F2, 123 = 11.16, p < 0.001, F3, 121 = 8.53, p < 0.001), physical (F2, 123 = 11.53, p < 0.001, F3, 121 = 5.54, p = 0.001) and mental well‐being (F2, 123 = 12.49, p < 0.001, F3, 121 = 8.63, p < 0.001), fulfillment (F3, 121 = 5.01, p < 0.003), and higher levels of burnout (F2, 123 = 5.53, p = 0.005, F3, 121 = 4.85, p < 0.003). Those who expressed higher levels of burnout also had statistically lower mean well‐being scores (F4, 119 = 10.54, p < 0.001). Females also reported a significantly lower work–life balance score compared to male respondents (F2, 121 = 10.37, p < 0.002). Conclusion: Despite the social and environmental challenges faced over the last couple of years post‐pandemic, dental educators demonstrate a quick ability to adapt, however, disproportional differences in gender and age groups were identified as being significantly correlated to dental educators' self‐reports on wellness, well‐being, and fulfillment. Insight into these variables can help inform strategies in the academic setting to help support and strengthen the academic workforce. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The peculiarities of the formation and functioning of logistics activities during the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine were studied. This article highlights the problems of logistics development in Ukraine during the martial law and the prospects for their solution. Considered the problems faced by the Ukrainian logistics business before the full-scale offensive of the Russian Federation. Logistics costs until February 24, 2022 and after were analyzed, relevant conclusions were drawn, namely the unprofitability of Ukrainian enterprises and their crisis situation. Attention was also paid to such issues as transportation by land transport and sea vessels - blockade of railways and ports. The consequences of increasing the coefficients of transportation tariffs are highlighted. Ukraine is one of the world leaders in the export of grain. But due to Russian aggression, the main logistics route for this product — the Black Sea — was blocked. The mentioned aid from Turkey and the creation of the "Grain Corridor", during which the export of Ukrainian grain became possible. The Grain From Ukraine initiative, which was successfully adopted and agreed upon by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, is a project called "Grain from Ukraine", which aims to provide more than five million people with grain by the end of spring 2023. The future of Ukrainian exports of agricultural products will largely depend on the continuation of the "grain agreement". The problems of Ukrainian ports and railways are identified, and alternative ways of moving transport are given. For cross-border transportation, transit routes with countries such as Poland, Hungary, Moldova, Slovakia, and Romania are used. The article also mentions business activities in the west, during which investment and fulfillment are increasing. Options for improving the efficiency of logistics supply chains are indicated. It is noted that the situation on the market, both domestic and foreign, changes almost every day, so this trend will continue in the future. If the situation with the availability of logistics does not improve, not only the Ukrainian agricultural sector will be at risk, but also the macroeconomic stability of the country, as well as global food security.

- Abstract
Background: There has been growing interest in patient-reported outcomes in foot and ankle surgery, and the fulfillment of patient expectations is a potentially powerful tool that compares preoperative expectations and perceived postoperative improvement. Prior work has validated the use of expectation fulfillment in foot and ankle surgery. However, given the wide spectrum of pathologies and treatments in foot and ankle, no study has examined the association between expectation fulfillment and specific diagnosis. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study consisting of 266 patients who completed the Foot & Ankle Expectations Survey and the Foot and Ankle Outcome Survey (FAOS) preoperatively and 2 years postoperatively. A fulfillment proportion (FP) was calculated using the pre- and postoperative Foot & Ankle Expectations Survey scores. An estimated mean fulfillment proportion for each diagnosis was calculated using a multivariable linear regression model, and pairwise comparisons were used to compare the FP between diagnoses. Results: All diagnoses had an FP less than 1, indicating partially fulfilled expectations. Ankle arthritis had the highest FP (0.95, 95% CI 0.81-1.08), whereas neuromas and mid/hindfoot diagnoses had the lowest FPs (0.46, 95% CI 0.23-0.68; 0.62, 95% CI 0.45-0.80). Higher preoperative expectations were correlated with lower fulfillment proportions. Conclusion: FP varied with diagnosis and preoperative expectations. An understanding of current expectation fulfillment among different diagnoses in foot and ankle surgery helps highlight areas for improvement in the management of expectations for presumed diagnoses. Level of Evidence: Level III, retrospective review of prospective cohort study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This reading intended to prove through the Analytical and Descriptive Approach that the Arabic syntax theory was based on an unparalleled built in "Procedural Mechanism" that governed speech formations, controlled origins, analyzed speech and organized pause and continuation sentence connections. This mechanism embodied in the Holy Quran. Most contemporary scholars of text and speech analysis failed to deal with that vehicle and dwelt only on analyzing some artificial examples of a certain context that is far below the versatile vastness and variety of the Quranic context. In Alnahhas book the researcher employed the concept of "Structural Functionality" with all central implications as a strict measure to determine pause and continuation levels in the Quran. Thus, the research gave a great and equal concern to explain (Fulfillment) through either speech connections and interrelated meanings through total completion of the effects of functionality structure. Alnahhas cited various levels of fulfillment, pause and continuation. This reading fell into five chapters. The first chapter explained the text syntax in our culture and the second deals with the importance of Annahas book. The third chapter explained the concept of "functionality structure" and wits central implications. The fourth one explained the "Levels of Speech between Voicing Denominations and Semantic Logic", while the fifth and last chapter were prolonged explanation of the concept of "Fulfillment" and the levels of pause in the holy Quran. I develop a framework to explain workers' diverse responses to similar combinations of control modes across organizations. The framework highlights the importance of two conceptual dimensions that draw together insights from studies of control and resistance in the workplace. The dimension of compatibility considers workers' subjective experiences of the fit between their personhood and modes of control, where alignment can inspire fulfillment and misalignment can prompt suffering. The dimension of coherence considers workers' perception of the consistency between modes, which can be fragmented or unified to reinforce organizationally prescribed goals and processes. The framework yields four ideal types of interaction between modes of control: complementing, coexisting, competing, and clashing. I illustrate how workers experience each ideal type through empirical examples and, in doing so, identify how workers' experiences can trigger processes that generate different intensities of compliance and resistance to control. Previous studies have demonstrated relationships between religiosity, physical and mental health-related outcomes, and healthy collective longevity. This qualitative study investigated the elements of pleasure and fulfillment in older adults living in the super-aged society of Japan and the rapidly super-aging society of Thailand. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 older adults—seven from Japan, and seven from Thailand, covering five topics: (1) pleasures in daily life; (2) purpose in daily life; (3) thoughts about aging; (4) things they do actively for their health; and (5) things they worry about. Data were analyzed using the Steps for Coding and Theorization method. Japanese older adults mostly engaged in individually accomplished pleasures, whereas Thai older adults aimed to experience pleasures involving others. Thai older adults viewed aging as a natural phenomenon and stressed the importance of self-regulation. The Japanese participants, however, focused on activities that would avoid the burden of long-term care, maintain their current lifestyle, and help with self-improvement and lifetime learning. Although Thai older adults derived pleasure and fulfillment from being helpful toward others, Japanese older adults’ narratives indicated that they tended to worry about others. Differences between the two countries’ lifestyles, environments, beliefs, and religious contexts explain the differences in the mechanisms by which Japanese and Thai older adults experience joy, fulfillment, and purpose in life. These results suggest ways to improve quality of life, extend healthy life expectancy, and prevent cognitive decline in older adults thriving in aging societies.

This paper examines the concept of “contributing to society” in the context of meaningful work and calling. While previous studies have identified it as a significant dimension within these concepts, little attention has been paid to trying to conceptualize it. Also, with “self-oriented” fulfillment being an important aspect of the experience of meaningfulness, the understanding of contribution to society might be more complex than being simply an “other-oriented” concept. In response to this conceptual unclarity, we define contributing to society as a belief individuals hold about whether tasks positively impact work beneficiaries. We integrate this with Situated Expectancy-Value Theory (SEVT) to determine the expected task value of such belief. Our argument is that fulfillment of a contribution depends on three factors: (1) the expectation of a contribution based on someone’s calling and expected meaningfulness; (2) the extent to which the employee is invested in the task, the costs of such task, whether the beneficiary and impact value and the utility for the self and beneficiary match the preference; (3) the extent to which this contribution is sufficient considering someone’s expectation. Therefore, the expected task value can differ between individuals concerning the number and types of beneficiaries and the extent and value of the impact. Moreover, in this way contributions to society should also be perceived from a self-oriented perspective to be fulfilling. This original concept offers a theoretical framework and a research agenda that proposes new avenues of inquiry for calling, meaningful work, contributing to society, and related fields such as job design, and public policy. 47. Biblical Theodicy of Righteous Fulfillment: Divine Promise and Proximity.

- Abstract
How, according to the best Biblical theodicy, does God justify God's allowing extreme suffering and evil? According to this article, the Biblical God is Lord of the future as well as the present and uses the future to fulfill divine promises to humans. The future fulfillment, coupled with present divine proximity to humans, includes restoring and saving them in full righteousness, given their losses from suffering and evil. This lesson is part of a widely neglected Biblical theodicy of restoration for humans in divine righteousness at God's appointed time. Such righteousness aims to renew people for their lasting moral good in relationship with God and others. Benefiting from some Old Testament writers, the apostle Paul, and Jesus, the proposed theodicy illuminates God's intention in bringing about a world that undergoes severe suffering and evil. It fits with humans' 'knowing in part' and thus their being unable to justify God, but it leaves room for God justifying God in righteousness to be fulfilled, coupled with present divine proximity to humans in need. The digital transformation is having a major impact on the consumer product market, pushing food retailers to foster online sales. To avoid large investments, e-grocers are tending to use their existing physical stores to undertake the online order picking process. In this context, these companies must choose in which traditional stores must prepare online orders. The aim of this study is to identify which store features affect order preparation times. The action research approach has been used at a Spanish e-grocer to analyze the characteristics that differentiate picking stores from each other; furthermore, the preparation times for a sample of online orders have been measured. The data were analyzed statistically using one-way ANOVA to define the optimal store in terms of size, assortment, backroom and congestion. The study shows that three of the four characteristics are significant on the preparation time. Therefore, e-grocers using a store-based model can use this information to focus their efforts on optimizing this process, assigning online order picking to the most appropriate stores. The approach used allows the study to be suitable for different retail context. Moreover, the results serve as support for strategic decision-making of researchers and e-grocers seeking to become more competitive in this continually growing market.
