Therefore, in this study, we retrospectively evaluated schizophrenia patients with available data for 20 years to determine whether the drug treatments in the same patients have changed in the past 20 years.Methods: The study began in April 2021 and was conducted in 15 psychiatric hospitals in Japan. Schizophrenia patients treated in the same hospital for 20 years were retrospectively examined for all prescriptions in 2016, 2011, 2006, and 2001 (ie, every 5 years).Results: The mean age of the 716 patients surveyed in 2021 was 61.7 years, with 49.0% being female. The rate of antipsychotic monotherapy use showed a slight increasing trend over the past 20 years; the rate of SGA use showed a marked increasing trend from 28.9% to 70.3% over the past 20 years, while the rate of SGA monotherapy use showed a gradual increasing trend over the past 20 years. The rates of concomitant use of anticholinergics, antidepressants, anxiolytics/sleep medications, and mood stabilizers showed decreasing, flat, flat, and flat trends over the past 20 years, respectively.Conclusion: The results of this study showed a slow but steady substitution of SGAs for first-generation antipsychotics (FGAs) over time, even in the same patients.Keywords: pharmacoepidemiology, prescription, antipsychotics, trends, schizophrenia

Hall transport and non-collinear magnetoresistance (NCMR) are studied for a chiral antiferromagnet (AFM) with the filled β-Mn-type structure. Magnetic and transport properties of epitaxial thin films of Co2−xPdxMo3N revealed that, in addition to a canted antiferromagnetic behavior above room temperature, thin films with x = 1.01∼1.38 exhibited a transition to a spin spiral state with a higher magnetic moment below TSR of around 50 K, which was assigned to a spin reorientation transition. The low-temperature phase shows both large anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and topological Hall effect (THE). Upon the transition to the canted AFM phase existing up to room temperature, the large AHE still persists with vanishing THE. The behavior of the Hall transport properties coupled with NCMR signals in the current-perpendicular-to-the plane configuration shows the formation of topological spin textures with locally antiferromagnetic order. The present results open the way for the study of topological antiferromagnetic spin textures, manipulation of their properties, and for future spintronic applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a connective tissue disease characterized by a triad of immunological abnormality, tissue fibrosis and vascular damage.1 Skin sclerosis is one of the most prominent manifestations of SSc, extension of which has been investigated as a surrogate marker that reflects organ involvements.2 Heat shock protein 27 (Hsp27), also known as heat shock protein B1, works as an intracellular molecular chaperone as well as an extracellular pro-inflammatory signalling molecule.3,4 In the skin, Hsp27 is constantly expressed mainly in the superficial layer of the epidermis and upregulated in response to environmental stress such as temperature change or chemical irritation.5,6 Previous studies have indicated that Hsp27 plays a protective role in inflammatory skin conditions and also takes part in tissue repair process.7,8 In atopic dermatitis, the amount of Hsp27 in the cornified layer was correlated with the local severity score.9 These insights suggest that Hsp27 is involved in the cutaneous response mechanism to inflammatory skin conditions, but its significance among SSc patients has not yet been elucidated. For the SSc subgroups, serum Hsp27 levels in dcSSc patients were significantly increased compared to healthy controls (13.72 [6.62-25.18] vs. 6.89 [4.17-8.67] ng/mL, I P i < 0.01 by Mann-Whitney's I U i -test), while there were no significant differences in the levels of serum Hsp27 between lcSSc and healthy controls ( I P i = 0.23 by Mann-Whitney's I U i -test). These results suggest that serum Hsp27 might be a promising biomarker that reflects the extension of skin sclerosis among SSc patients. [Extracted from the article]
