An investigation of doping features of Si-diffused III-V compounds reveals that the change in the deposition parameters of SiO(x)/SiN films influences the rectangular-shaped carrier concentration profiles that are generated by Si diffusion in GaAs. The investigation is performed by using the dielectric diffusion sources that have undoped SiO(x)/SiN double-layered films. The deposition parameters include SiO(x) deposition and the NH3 flow rate in the SiN deposition. The amount of excess Si in the SiO(x) bottom film determines the changes in the profile of Si compounds.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐phophate (PtdIns(4)P) is an essential signaling molecule in the Golgi body, endosomal system, and plasma membrane and functions in the regulation of membrane trafficking, cytoskeletal organization, lipid metabolism and signal transduction pathways, all mediated by direct interaction with PtdIns(4)P‐binding proteins. PtdIns(4)P was recently reported to have functional roles in autophagosome biogenesis. LC3 and GABARAP subfamilies and a small GTP‐binding protein, Rab7, are localized on autophagosomal membranes and participate at each stage of autophagosome formation and maturation. To better understand autophagosome biogenesis, it is essential to determine the localization of PtdIns(4)P and to examine its relationship with LC3 and GABARAP subfamilies and Rab7. To analyze PtdIns(4)P distribution, we used an electron microscopy technique that labels PtdIns(4)P on the freeze‐fracture replica of intracellular biological membranes, which minimizes the possibility of artificial perturbation because molecules in the membrane are physically immobilized in situ. Using this technique, we found that PtdIns(4)P is localized on the cytoplasmic, but not the luminal (exoplasmic), leaflet of the inner and outer membranes of autophagosomes. Double labeling revealed that PtdIns(4)P mostly colocalizes with Rab7, but not with LC3B, GABARAP, GABARAPL1 and GABARAPL2. Rab7 plays essential roles in autophagosome maturation and in autophagosome‐lysosome fusion events. We suggest that PtdIns(4)P is localized to the cytoplasmic leaflet of the autophagosome at later stages, which may illuminate the importance of PtdIns(4)P at the later stages of autophagosome formation. Quick‐freezing and freeze‐fracture replica labeling method revealed that phosphatidylinositol 4‐phosphate (PtdIns(4)P) was localized on the cytoplasmic leaflet in the inner and outer membranes of the autophagosome in the Torin1‐treated autophagy‐induced Huh7 cells. PtdIns(4)P was colocalized with Rab7, but not LC3B, GABARAP, GABARAPL1 or GABARAPL2 on the autophagosomal membranes. Rab7 was reported to play essential roles for the maturation of autophagosome formation, suggesting that PtdIns(4)P appears with Rab7 at the later and mature stages of autophagosome formation. Aims: To investigate the distribution of lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) and its association with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in Japanese patients at high risk for ASCVD using a health insurance database., Methods: Between July 2013 and June 2021, patients eligible for ASCVD prevention according to the 2017 Japan Atherosclerosis Society (JAS) guidelines with documented Lp(a) test results were extracted from the Medical Data Vision claims database and divided into three groups: primary prevention high-risk (Group I), secondary prevention (Group II) and secondary prevention high-risk (Group III). Data on lipid levels, cardiovascular morbidity risk factors and lipid-lowering treatments were extracted., Results: Of 700,580 patients with documented low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), 2,967 (0.42%) were tested for Lp(a). In 2,170 eligible patients, the median [interquartile range] serum concentration of Lp(a) was 13.9 [7.5-24.6] mg/dL, with 151 patients (7.0%) above the recommended risk threshold of ≥ 50 mg/dL. Lp(a) levels increased with risk across all prevention groups. Being in the highest Lp(a) quintile (Q5) was associated with an increased frequency of ASCVD (28.9% versus 18.9% in the lowest quintile (Q1) for unstable angina; 18.7% versus 10.1% for myocardial infarction; 27.9% versus 17.0% for ischemic stroke). In the secondary prevention groups, the proportion of patients meeting an LDL-C target of ＜70 mg/dL decreased from 30.2% in Q1 to 19.0% in Q5 for Group II and from 32.9% to 16.3% for Group III., Conclusions: Despite a high prevalence of Lp(a) ≥ 50mg/dL in Japanese patients at high risk for ASCVD, it found that the Lp(a) testing rate was very low.

Cattle mange causes extreme itchiness, and the associated stress is an animal welfare concern that leads to economic losses due to decreased cattle productivity and deworming costs. This study investigated the reason why Chorioptic mites, C. bovis and C. texanus, preferentially infest the tail root region (rTR) and performed histological and biochemical analysis focusing on the volatile components of host odors that serve as the starting point for infestation of parasitic arthropods. Skin samples were taken from the rTR, lateral abdominal, and central masseteric, with the latter two designated as comparison sites. The two and three-dimensional histological analysis measured each sebaceous and sweat gland percentage per unit volume. The q-PCR analyzed the expression levels of ALDH1A1 and LOC785756, which are genes associated with volatile odoriferous compounds that serve as repellency and attractive messengers for ticks. Immunohistochemistry stained three sites with anti-androgen binding protein beta-like (ABPβ-like), encoded by LOC785756, antibody. The three-dimensional analysis showed that sebaceous glands in the rTR tend to be more continuous and existed in larger masses than in other regions. The expression level of LOC785756 was significantly higher in the rTR, and immunohistochemistry revealed the presence of ABPβ-like in the sebaceous gland with strong positive signals in the rTR. These results suggest that C. bovis/texanus selectively infests the rTR because that skin has well-developed sebaceous glands, including a large amount of ABPβ-like, which acts as a mite attractant.
