19. Game of Marine Natural Resources Management: A strategy for Determining Rights Registration.

Abstract

The unified right confirmation and registration of natural resources in sea areas (URCRNRSA) has been considered a key approach to the effective management and sustainable utilization of marine resources. In China, the system of URCRNRSA is insufficient due to the lack of central auditing supervision and public participation. In this study, the mechanism of stakeholder interaction is clarified based on the game relationship among the tripartite of the central government, local governments, and the public. The evolutionary process of tripartite decision-making is simulated with an evolutionary game model. On this basis, the strategic choices of the tripartite were analyzed in the four evolutionary scenarios of high-quality URCRNRSA. It was demonstrated that the tripartite could jointly affect the URCRNRSA through cooperation-constraint, principal-agent, and incentive-compatibility relationships. The most effective, realistic, and feasible URCRNRSA strategy was the trinity system with local government high-quality rights confirming, the central government auditing as a hard constraint and the public participating as a soft constraint. The main influencing factors for the tripartite to make different strategy selections were clarified through parameter sensitivity analysis, including cost, benefit, reward, and punishment. Accordingly, the policy recommendations were put forward to ensure the stable and efficient implementation of the URCRNRSA in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

33. Bioactive Indole Alkaloids and Phenyl Ether Derivatives from a Marine-Derived Aspergillussp. Fungus

Abstract

Two new prenylated indole alkaloids, 17-epi-notoamides Q and M (1and 2), and two new phenyl ether derivatives, cordyols D and E (9and 13), together with 10 known compounds (3–8, 10–12, 14) were isolated from a marine-derived Aspergillussp. fungus. Among them, 1/5and 2/4were pairs of epimers. The planar structures and absolute configurations of the new compounds were determined by extensive NMR spectroscopic data as well as CD spectra. The absolute configuration of 3was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis for the first time. All isolated metabolites (1–14) and eight synthetic phenyl ether derivatives (12a, 14a–14g) were evaluated for their antibacterial activities in vitro. The polybromide phenyl ether 14gshowed pronounced antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidiswith an MIC value of 0.556 μM, stronger than that of the positive control ciprofloxacin (MIC = 3.13 μM).

34. Isocoumarin Derivatives and Benzofurans from a Sponge-Derived Penicilliumsp. Fungus

Abstract

Ten new fungal metabolites, including three hydroisocoumarins, penicimarins A–C (1–3), three isocoumarins, penicimarins D–F (6–8), and four benzofurans, penicifurans A–D (11–14), together with four known isocoumarin derivatives (4, 5, 9, 10), were obtained from the sponge-derived fungus Penicilliumsp. MWZ14-4, collected from the South China Sea. Their planar structures and relative configurations were elucidated by detailed analysis of spectroscopic data and by comparison with related known compounds. The absolute configurations of 1–4were assigned by the modified Mosher’s method and TDDFT ECD calculations together with comparison of their CD spectra. Compound 1represents a rare naturally occurring isocoumarin derivative with 4-substitution, but no substituent at the 3-position. These compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activities and cytotoxic activities in vitro. Among them, penicifuran A (11) exhibited inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus albuswith an MIC value of 3.13 μM.

37. CsACO4, an ACC oxidase gene regulating male differentiation in cucumber

Abstract

Ethylene has been implicated as a sex-determining hormone in cucumber: Its exogenous application increases femaleness and gynoecious genotypes were reported to produce more ethylene. 1- aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) oxidase (ACO) is the key enzyme in ethylene biosynthesis. In this study, a 1,188 base pair (bp) fragment was amplified from cucumber (Jinyan-4) genome with degenerated primers derived from the ACO amino acid consensus sequence among different plant species. The putative new gene was analyzed by bioinformatic tools. Phylogenic analysis result of the new gene (CsACO4, GenBank accession number AY450356) was in accordance with the evolution relationship of genetics among various plant species. The result of BLAST showed the sequence presented a very high match with the ACO genes from other plants; the homologue was from 80 to 99%. Using the sequence, a RNA interference (RNAi) transformation vector was constructed through the way of BP cloning. Eleven transgenic plants were obtained. The transgene integrated into cucumber genome was proved with PCR and southern blotting. The morphological exploration showed that the inserted RNAi target fragments could inhibit the endogenous CsACO4 gene expression and that it could regulate male differentiation in the lower nodes in cucumber.Keywords: Cucumber, ACC oxidase gene, RNAi, male differentiation

38. Nucleoside derivatives from the marine-derived fungus Aspergillusversicolor

Abstract

Four nucleoside derivatives (1–4) were isolated from the fungus Aspergillus versicolor derived from the gorgonian Dichotella gemmacea collected in the South China Sea. Their structures were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic method of NMR and MS analysis. All isolated metabolites were evaluated for their cytotoxicity, antibacterial activity and lethality towards brine shrimp Artemia salina. Compounds 1/2 exhibited selective antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis with an MIC value of 12.5 μM. It should be noted that 1 and 2, whose structures were listed in SciFinder Scholar, had no associated reference. This is the first report about their isolation, structure elucidation and biological activities.

Abstract

Abstract In recent years, the marine economy of China has experienced rapid growth, and the strategy of marine power also drove the development of the marine economy. The sea is a natural treasure that can provide rich resources. However, excessive consumption of natural resources and pollution problems of the ecological environment continue to become worse due to resource utilization inefficiency and disorderliness. Determining how to protect the environment on the basis of economic development is becoming a focus of attention. Research on the value of marine bioresources has great effects on preparing the balance sheet of resources. Accordingly, the present paper evaluates the value of marine bioresources in Shandong province offshore in 2014 by using the market valuation method, coefficients method, productivity change method, results reference method and contingent valuation method. In 2014, the total economic value of marine bioresources in Shandong province was $47.0533 billion, the direct use value was $9.3872 billion (in which the cultural research value was $0.7587 billion and recreational function value was $2.9413 billion), the indirect use value was $30.3469 billion, and the social value was $7.3192 billion. The indirect use value accounts for the largest proportion (64.49%), the direct use value accounts for 19.95%, far less than the indirect use value, and the social value accounts for a much smaller proportion, only 15.56%. And then the valuation results in the present study were used to analyze the reason for changes of ending value in the marine bioresources balance sheet. Suggestions were also put forward in the end. First, the public's understanding of the economic value of marine bioresources should be strengthened and the protection of marine bioresources should be increased, in order to promote the reasonable utilization of resources. Second, the potential value of cultural research for marine bioresources should be increased. Third, the stock quantity and value of marine bioresources in Shandong province should be evaluated, and a balance sheet of marine bioresources should be set up, in order to scientifically manage and constantly use marine bioresources in Shandong province, and promote the construction of an ecological civilization in China.
