Abstract

In this article, the author wishes to analyse and understand the characteristics and scope of the notion of authenticity as it applies to archival work. The principals and foundations of archival work, and the notions of integrity and of an original archive in particular, rest upon the notion of authenticity which imparts their legitimacy. Numeric technologies have disrupted knowledge and the know-how in such a manner that the scientific community must reassess the importance and function of the notion of authenticity.
