Upper Devonian to Lower Pennsylvanian strata in the Craig C4 quadrangle of the Prince of Wales Island, Alaska record a biostratigraphic, stratigraphic, and paleogeographic narrative of the Alexander terrane during the Carboniferous. New lithologic and stratigraphic descriptions of the Devonian, volcaniclastic Port Refugio Formation and overlying carbonate strata of the Mississippian Peratrovich Formation and the Pennsylvanian Ladrones Limestone were completed in the southern region of the Craig C4 quadrangle. This strata records the thin accumulation of Carboniferous carbonates in an area behind the remnants of a Late Devonian volcanic arc. Historically, the Mid-Carboniferous Boundary was illustrated as a lithostratigraphic boundary between the Peratrovich Formation and Ladrones Limestone. Recent work on these units has yielded a small number of conodonts that provide a better time resolution than previously existed. The occurrences of declinognathodid elements from the Peratrovich Formation and Ladrones Limestone record a conformable Mid-Carboniferous boundary within the lower strata of the Ladrones Limestone. The occurrences of lower to upper Morrowan conodont biozones in the Ladrones Limestone enable the correlation of this strata from the southern region of the Craig C4 quadrangle to that in the north. The recovery of elements of the Early Pennsylvanian conodont genus Neolochriea presents the opportunity to constrain current paleogeographic models and to re-evaluate the paleogeographic position of the Alexander terrane during the Carboniferous. Neolochriea has only been recovered from Tethyan and Eurasian Carboniferous strata. Its occurrence in the Alexander terrane suggests faunal associations not yet described between these two regions. The recovery of a new species of Neolochriea from the Ladrones Limestone was illustrated as Idiognathoides pacificus from Novaya Zemlya. This co-occurrence suggests a species level affinity between these two regions and strongly suggests that the Alexander terrane was near the Timanide region of Laurussia during the Early Pennsylvanian.
