The new genus resembles the genera Hyperomerus Redtenbacher and Dectinomima Caudell and probably is closely related to them, but the internal and external male genitalia components distinguish the three taxa. We also provide a brief comment about the function of the internal components of the phallic complexes of Warimiri gen. nov. and Hyperomerus. Few specimens were collected from a limestone cave located in the municipality of Campo Formoso, northern State of Bahia, in a semi-arid zone characterized by the Caatinga vegetation. A brief discussion on troglomorphisms is provided, as well as some ecological remarks and potential threats for this species. Titanogryllus, a new genus and three new species T. salgado n. gen. n. sp., T. oxossi n. gen. n. sp., and T. oxente n. gen. n. sp. from subfamily Gryllinae (Grylloidea, Gryllidae) are described from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. This genus is characterized by its very large size, and establishes a new record for the largest known cricket from Neotropical Region. The new taxa are characterized by their external morphology and male and female genitalia.

In this study we describe two new species of cavicolous-straminicolous crickets for southern Brazil. Endecous chape n. sp. and E. naipi n. sp. are sympatric crickets that inhabit the Atlantic Semideciduous Forest of the Iguaçu National Park and adjacent areas. The descriptions were based on morphological characters, mainly from male genitalia and tegmina of adult males. Furthermore, we describe the chromosomes and the calling song of one of the new species, E. chape n. sp., presenting a discussion about the morphology of the phallic complex of Endecous and a distribution map for the species of the genus. The type-material is deposited in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZSP), and in the Coleção de Insetos do Departamento de Zoologia (Zoology Department Insect Collection), Universidade Estadual Paulista-UNESP-Botucatu campus.

Bambuina bambui, um novo gênero e espécie de grilo falangopsídeo é descrito a partir de espécimes obtidos na Gruta do Centenário, uma caverna de quartzo localizada na Serra do Inficionado, um subconjunto de montanhas pertencentes ao complexo da Serra do Caraça no estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil.

Two new genera and species of Pteronemobiini crickets (Grylloidea: Trigonidiidae: Nemobiinae) are described fromsouthern Brazilian Atlantic Forest: Kevanemobius paulistorum gen. n. et sp. n., and Pepoyara jagoi gen. n. et sp. n. The position of these genera among other Pteronemobiini is briefly discussed.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2015-12-01 We present a list of grasshoppers from the Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke, a preservation area in the outskirts of Manaus, State of Amazonas, Brazil. The Ducke Reserve has been an indispensable tool for scientific development due to its considerable floristic richness. It has provided ample material for studies and research, promoting the conservation of Amazonian rainforest flora and fauna and the protection of endangered species. This checklist is intended to provide basic information on the regional grasshopper fauna, expand the current knowledge of species occurrences, and serve as a basis for systematists interested in revisionary and biogeographic work with a focus on Amazonian endemic areas. We sampled the Ducke Reserve for fifteen days using active and visual searching methods. We collected 38 species of terrestrial and semi-aquatic grasshoppers, 23 which belonged to the Acrididae and 15 to Romaleidae. Twenty four species and subspecies of grasshopper were registered for the first time for the locality and three new species and one new subspecies were recorded for Brazil. A new genus and species of cricket, Anomaloterga mantiqueirae, here described, is the first representative of Strogulomorphini to be reported from Brazil. The specimens were collected at night from the lower portions of live tree trunks in a summit forest located on the Mantiqueira Fault Escarpment, State of Sao Paulo.

A new genus and species of cricket belonging to the Hapithinae: Neomorphini (Podoscirtidae) is described from the forests of the Iguacu National Park, State of Parana, Brazil. The new genus is thoroughly compared with Neomorpha Desutter, 1987, the only other member of the Neomorphini described so far.

With 15 described species, Eidmanacris is one of the largest Luzarinae genera from South America. In Brazil, 12 species occur in two large biomes, the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado. Here, we describe four new species of Eidmanacris from Brazil: E. bernardii Niheide Mello, n. sp., E. papaveroi Niheide Mello, n. sp., E. simoesi Niheide Mello, n. sp., and E. eliethae Niheide Mello, n. sp., from Cerrado (E. bernardii n. sp.), and the other from Atlantic Forest. The type material is deposited in the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZSP) and the Zoology Department Insect Colletion (Coleção de Insetos do Departamento de Zoologia), Botucatu campus of São Paulo State University, UNESP.

Ottedana cercalis, a new genus and species of luzarine phalangopsid cricket, is described from the Araucaria forest on the Serra da Mantiqueira range of southeastern Brazil.

A new genus and two new species of Luzarinae cricket (Grylloidea, Phalangopsidae) are described from the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil and Colombia. Desutterella manauara n. gen. n. sp. and D. colombiana n. gen. n. sp. are described based in characters of external morphology and genitalia. The new genus is characterized by the presence of reduced and pubescent male forewings, with stridulatory vein visible but other areas for sound production and propagation absent, and file teeth very reduced, vestigial. Regarding the male genitalia, Desutterella n. gen. presents an extra projection in the pseudepiphallic paramere 2, a condition not observed in the Aracambiae until now. Besides the description, we provide morphological evidence for the glandular nature of the metanotum of males through scanning electron microscopy analysis, a discussion about the morphological and genital features of this new genus, and a distribution map of the Aracambiae group.

In the neotropics three genera are known to the present: Odontogryllus Saussure, 1877 (one from México, the others amazonian), Brasilodontus de Mello, 1992 with two species (from Brazilian Atlantic Forest), e Valchica de Mello, 1992 with one species (from Costa Rica). De Mello (1992) erroneously created the tribe Odontogryllini for this cluster of neotropical genera, here suppressed. In the present paper we revise and add new species to Brasilodontus and describe two monotypic genera, Xulavuna n. gen. and Yarrubura, n. gen. An identification key to the genera of neotropical Landrevinae is presented as well as one for the species of Brasilodontus. The male fore wings of Xulavuna adenoptera n. sp. is remarkable regarding its shape and its glandular condition.

A new genus and species of Luzarinae cricket (Grylloidea, Phalangopsidae) is described from the Chapada Diamantina National Park, Bahia State, northeast Brazil. Sishiniheia diamantina, n. gen. n. sp. is described based in characters of external morphology and male genitalia and is characterized by the reduced FWs, absence of stridulatory file, thick longitudinal venation and the thin, pointed and curved pseudepiphallic arms.

In this study we describe the first apterous species of Endecous Saussure (1878), collected in two caves at Ituacu, Bahia State, Brazil. In Brazil, Endecous is the most widespread cricket in hypogean environments and its species can colonize caves and inhabit the entrance and the aphotic zones; Endecous species can also be found in the litter, rock gullies, crevices, burrows, and any natural cavities. The use of subterranean habitat by Endecous crickets and its related genera are discussed.

In August 1992 we collected a few specimens of an undescribed phalangopsid cricket from the leaf litter inside a small patch of remnant forest in Botucatu, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Prior to fixation, these specimens were kept alive in the laboratory for a few weeks and we had the opportunity to observe the courtship and copulatory behaviors as well as record the acoustic emissions performed by courting males.

Desutter (1990), on her study of Neotropical crickets, recognized three groups of Nemobiinae in that region "Pteronemobius", Araizala (both bearing glandular supero-internal spuron male hindtibia), and Hygronemobius (with nonglandular spur). See Desutter (1990) for the other characters of these groups and her comments on material from the mountains of Colombia. As to the exact position of the Nemobiinae, traditionally it has been placed under the family Gryllidae, but Gorochov (1986) and Desutter (1987,1990) agree that it should be combined with the Trigonidiinae to form a single group (family Trigonidiidae). In the present paper we describe two new South American genera of nemobiines: Amanayara, with two species from the coastal forests of southeastern Brazil, in which the supero-internal spur of male hindtibia is glandular; and Monopteropsis, with two species from the mountains of Magdalena, Colombia, in which that spur is not glandular. The numbers indicating the portions of the phallic complex in figures 1 and 5 refer to the following structures: 1, epiphallic sclerite; 2, median lobe of epiphallus; 3, ectophallic fold; 4, ectophallic apodeme; 5, endophallic sclerite; 6, rami. Terminology follows Desutter (1990). AMANAYARA gen. n.

As is true for the neotropical region in general, the taxonomy of the cricket fauna from the Atlantic Forest Morphoclimatic Domain in eastern Brazil (Ab'Saber, 1977) is far from being well-understood. A large number of genera and species is likely to be found when new regions of the forest are investigated. The present paper describes five new species belonging to three new genera of the family Phalangopsidae, subfamily Luzarinae. All three genera are regarded as members of Desutter's (1990) "ensemble C" due to characteristics of the phallic complex. The phallic structures represented in the figures are identified by the following numbers: 0-epiphallic gland; 1-main lobe of epiphallus; 2-epiphallic claspers (in the species of Aracamby) or epiphallic projections (in the genera Cacruzia and Izecksohniella); 2Aanterior process of epiphallic clasper; 2B-posterior process of epiphallic clasper; 3-epiphallic parameres; 4rami; 5-ectophallic apodeme; 6endophallic sclerite. Structure number 2 was observed to function as clasping organs during copulation in the species of Aracamby but I do not know if it serves the same function in the other genera. The terminology basically follows Desutter (1987, 1988, 1990). Scale lines (mm) to figures are presented at the bottom of each set of lettered anatomical drawings. Karyograms representing the chromosome sets of the species of Aracamby were made by arranging the autosomes in decreasing order of size, the X chromosome having been placed after the smallest autosome.
