Over recent years, gluten-free products have shown a significant increase in consumption internationally. Retailers from the modern grocery distribution have the opportunity to take advantage of this positive trend, thus benefitting remarkably in terms of sales and store patronage. The present work is based on the analysis of Italian IRI sell-out data from 2015 to 2019 and aims to verify the role of assortment as an effective retail marketing lever in stimulating gluten-free products sales share compared to that of gluten-containing counterparts. Applying different panel data techniques, we obtained that increasing their assortment share can significantly stimulate gluten-free products sales in general and, within this segment, private label sales in particular.

Il capitolo analizza i comportamenti e gli atteggiamenti di consumo di abbigliamento tra giovani stranieri, adulti stranieri e giovani italiani. Dalla ricerca emerge con chiarezza che i consumi di abbigliamento possono rappresentare un momento fondamentale di contatto, di acculturazione e di integrazione nel rapporto tra popolazione immigrata e autoctona.

The arrival of the online channel has initiated a new cycle in competitiveness among retailers characterized by shoppers’ increasing nomadism around physical and digital touch points. The present work adopts a supply-side analytical approach to highlight drivers and perspectives of e-commerce development within the grocery sector. Research results emphasize that: (i) online-native retailers hold a well-established position of leadership worldwide and thus fundamentally influence e-grocery dynamics as a whole; (ii) the e-commerce channel is characterized by profit margins that are significantly lower than store-based channel ones. This represents the main limitation to online grocery sales growth, above all for offline-native retailers who maintain core business in their bricks & mortar stores.

OBJECTIVE: In two laboratories (Departments of Pathology, Copenhagen University Hospitals of Herlev and Hvidovre), we compared cobas and Hybrid Capture 2 (HC2) human papillomavirus (HPV) assays using SurePath® samples from women with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) at ≥30 years and women after treatment of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).METHODS: Samples from 566 women with ASCUS and 411 women after treatment were routinely tested with HC2 and, thereafter, with cobas. Histological outcomes were retrieved from the Danish Pathology Data Base. We calculated the overall agreement between the assays, and compared their sensitivity and specificity for ≥CIN2.RESULTS: In women with ASCUS, HC2 and cobas testing results were similar in the two laboratories. The overall agreement was 91% (95% CI, 88-93). After CIN treatment, the overall agreement was 87% (95% CI, 82-91) at Herlev and 88% (95% CI, 82-92) at Hvidovre. There were no significant differences in the sensitivity for ≥CIN2 between the two tests [Herlev, 98% (95% CI, 89-100) for HC2 versus 94% (95% CI, 82-99) for cobas; Hvidovre, 97% (95% CI, 83-100) for HC2 versus 100% (95% CI, 88-100) for cobas]. The differences were also not significant for specificity.CONCLUSIONS: In women with the studied well-defined clinical indications for HPV testing, cobas and HC2 performed similarly in terms of the detection of HPV and ≥CIN2.

A 2002 multibeam sonar survey of Mauna Loa's western flank revealed ten submarine radial vents and three submarine lava flows. Only one submarine radial vent was known previously. The ages of these vents are constrained by eyewitness accounts, geologic relationships, Mn-Fe coatings, and geochemical stratigraphy; they range from 128 years B.P. to possibly 47 ka. Eight of the radial vents produced degassed lavas despite eruption in water depths sufficient to inhibit sulfur degassing. These vents formed truncated cones and short lava flows. Two vents produced undegassed lavas that created ''irregular'' cones and longer lava flows. Compositionally and isotopically, the submarine radial vent lavas are typical of Mauna Loa lavas, except two cones that erupted alkalic lavas. He-Sr isotopes for the radial vent lavas follow Mauna Loa's evolutionary trend. The compositional and isotopic heterogeneity of these lavas indicates most had distinct parental magmas. Bathymetry and acoustic backscatter results, along with photography and sampling during four JASON2 dives, are used to produce a detailed geologic map to evaluate Mauna Loa's submarine geologic history. The new map shows that the 1877 submarine eruption was much larger than previously thought, resulting in a 10% increase for recent volcanism. Furthermore, although alkalic lavas were found at two radial vents, there is no systematic increase in alkalinity among these or other Mauna Loa lavas as expected for a dying volcano. These results refute an interpretation that Mauna Loa's volcanism is waning. The submarine radial vents and flows cover 29 km 2 of seafloor and comprise a total volume of ∼2 × 10 9 m3 of lava, reinforcing the idea that submarine lava eruptions are important in the growth of oceanic island volcanoes even after they emerged above sea level.

Within the endemic invertebrate faunas of hydrothermal vents, five biogeographic provinces are recognized. Invertebrates at two Indian Ocean vent fields (Kairei and Edmond) belong to a sixth province, despite ecological settings and invertebrate-bacterial symbioses similar to those of both western Pacific and Atlantic vents. Most organisms found at these Indian Ocean vent fields have evolutionary affinities with western Pacific vent faunas, but a shrimp that ecologically dominates Indian Ocean vents closely resembles its Mid-Atlantic counterpart. These findings contribute to a global assessment of the biogeography of chemosynthetic faunas and indicate that the Indian Ocean vent community follows asymmetric assembly rules biased toward Pacific evolutionary alliances.
