Studium dotyczące ustroju i organizacji zarządu terytorialnego monarchii Piastów w XI i XII w. A study on the constitution, and the organization of territorial govvernance in the monarchy of the Piasts in the 11tnh and 12th cent.

The text is a report on the presentation of the edition of the oldest castle court books of Cracow from the early 15th century. The volume was issued by three scholarly institutes, and the presentation took place in the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cracow on December 10, 2019.

W tekście przedstawiono okoliczności, w jakich informacje o osiedlach wiejskich Górnych Łużyc trafiły do dwóch najstarszych ksiąg miejskich zgorzeleckich, powstałych w XIV wieku. Następnie przytoczono i skomentowano wiadomości pochodzące z tych ksiąg, dotyczące: 1) gromad wiejskich, 2) struktur i organów funkcjonujących wewnątrz gromad, 3) przestrzeni osadniczej terenów wiejskich. In the text, there were presented the circumstances, in which information on rural settlements of Upper Lusatia got into the oldest municipal court books of the town Görlitz, issued in the 14th cent. Further on, the data derived from those books were quoted and commented on, concerning: 1) village communities, 2) structures and authorities functioning inside of them, 3) the settlement space of rural areas.

In the year 2018, several research projects of the Chairs of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University which are concerned with legal and constitutional history were continued, and an important new one - project IURA - was launched. Apart from these, the faculty members and postgraduates, of the Chairs were engaged in cooperation with other academic centers, including several international conferences, and the preparation of a book devoted to the memory of Prof. Janusz Sondel (1937-2017).1 A very challenging but fruitful event was the 72nd World Congress of SIHDA (Société Internationale Fernand de Visscher pour l’Histoire des Droits de l’Antiquité), organized by the Chair of Roman Law.

W tekście zestawiono i krótko skomentowano zapiski z dwóch najstarszych ksiąg miejskich zgorzeleckich dotyczących Wzgórza Garncarskiego oraz garncarzy. In the article, contents of two oldest city register books of the town of Zgorzelec related to Wzgórze Garncarskie [Potter Hill] were listed and briefly commented.

The text presents the contribution of several Kraków-based scholars – mainly Krystyna Pieradzka, Stanisław Nowogrodzki, and Józef Widajewicz – into the research of the medieval history of Upper Lusatia. Their works on Upper Lusatian issues, written and published in the 1930s, 1940s and early 1950s, are briefly commented and the contexts thereof are also presented. The author argues that the analyzed works must be seen not only – or even not primarily – as scholarly contributions, but also as a way in which the historians fulfilled their civic and professional duties by adopting and commenting the results of German research and presenting it to the Polish audience. It was especially important after 1945, when part of Upper Lusatia was incorporated into Poland and the new Polish inhabitants were to be taught the history of this region.

The article concerns a group of abandoned medieval villages founded in the environs of the town Muszyna, which were mentioned in an interpolated charter of the King Władysław Jagiełło originating from the year 1391. Analysis of the contents of the aforementioned document, and of the historical and geopolitical context of the rural colonization of the Muszyna region made it possible to approximately localize and characterize the deserted localities, and to discuss the question of possible reasons of their abandonment.
