Abstract

The connection between metadata, data, and software and the integration in an overall lifecycle is crucial for effective data management in research. The generic data management lifecycle, developed at HZDR, bridges these critical components, ensuring seamless data discovery, accessibility, and reproducibility. The approach emphasises the planning of experiments, the role of metadata, data storage, as well as software versioning, and the final publication of digital research artefacts, which enables comprehensive traceability from data creation to long-term archiving. By aligning these elements in a unified procedure, we recommend a uniform lifecycle that can be adapted to different research areas, with a particular focus on community services, such as SciCat, that improves data integrity and promote collaborative research.

Abstract

The one-dimensional reconstruction of Au/Ge(001) was investigated by means of autocorrelation functions from surface x-ray diffraction (SXRD) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Interatomic distances found in the SXRD-Patterson map are substantiated by results from STM. The Au coverage, recently determined to be 3/4 of a monolayer of gold, together with SXRD leads to three non-equivalent positions for Au within the c(8x2) unit cell. Combined with structural information from STM topography and line profiling, two building blocks are identified: Au-Ge hetero-dimers within the top wire architecture and Au homo-dimers within the trenches. The incorporation of both components is discussed using density functional theory and model based Patterson maps by substituting Germanium atoms of the reconstructed Ge(001) surface., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

We present the results of the one year long observational campaign of the type II-plateau SN 2005cs, which exploded in the nearby spiral galaxy M51 (the Whirlpool Galaxy). This extensive dataset makes SN 2005cs the best observed low-luminosity, 56Ni-poor type II-plateau event so far and one of the best core-collapse supernovae ever. The optical and near-infrared spectra show narrow P-Cygni lines characteristic of this SN family, which are indicative of a very low expansion velocity (about 1000 km/s) of the ejected material. The optical light curves cover both the plateau phase and the late-time radioactive tail, until about 380 days after core-collapse. Numerous unfiltered observations obtained by amateur astronomers give us the rare opportunity to monitor the fast rise to maximum light, lasting about 2 days. In addition to optical observations, we also present near-infrared light curves that (together with already published UV observations) allow us to construct for the first time a reliable bolometric light curve for an object of this class. Finally, comparing the observed data with those derived from a semi-analytic model, we infer for SN 2005cs a 56Ni mass of about 0.003 solar masses, a total ejected mass of 8-13 solar masses and an explosion energy of about 3 x 10^50 erg., Comment: 18 pages, 18 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS

Abstract

A model study of the singlet excitons in the C60 molecule with emphasis on the Coulomb interaction between excited electron and hole leads to a physical understanding of the interaction effects on the absorption spectra and to a new identification of the forbidden excitons in the third-harmonic generation spectra. These conclusions may be tested experimentally on the model predictions related to the optical Kerr effect. The model shows that, with sufficiently strong interatomic than onsite interaction, a T_{2G} exciton could have very low energy or become unstable against the closed-shell ground state. Abstract

Hintergrund: Die transurethrale En-bloc-Resektion von Blasentumoren (ERBT) ist eine Alternative zur konventionellen transurethralen Resektion von Blasentumoren (TURB). Sie könnte dazu beitragen bekannte Probleme der Standardmethode wie fehlenden Detrusormuskel im Präparat, hohe Nachresektions- sowie Rezidivraten zu verbessern. Ziel: Die Analyse der aktuellen Datenlage zur ERBT in Bezug auf Effektivität und Sicherheit im Vergleicht zur TURB. Datenquelle: PubMed. Methode: Zwei unabhängige Autoren identifizierten Studien basierend auf den Einschlusskriterien sowie den Schlüsselwörtern. Ein dritter Autor wurde bei Unstimmigkeiten zur Entscheidungsfindung involviert. Screening Keywords: ERBT, en bloc transurethral resection of bladder tumor, en bloc TURBT. Eine Metaanalyse von 13 Studien wurde durchgeführt. Effektgrößen wurden mittels Odds Ratios und mittleren Differenzen samt den zugehörigen zweiseitigen 95 %-Konfidenzintervallen geschätzt. Ergebnisse: Die behandelten Studien untersuchten ein homogenes Kollektiv in Bezug auf Tumorgröße, Multiplizität und Stadium. Die Operationszeit zeigte sich nicht signifikant verschieden zwischen den Methoden. Signifikante Unterschiede bestanden in Hospitalisierungs- und Kathetereinliegedauer zugunsten der ERBT. Die Daten in Bezug auf Komplikationsraten zeigen keine sicheren Unterschiede auf. In der ERBT-Gruppe konnte signifikant mehr Detrusormuskel im Präparat nachgewiesen werden. Keine Unterschiede ergaben sich in der Rezidivrate bei einem Follow-up bis 2 Jahre. Schlussfolgerung: Die ERBT ist eine sichere Alternative zur konventionellen TURB mit vielversprechenden Möglichkeiten bezüglich der effektiven Resektion von Detrusormuskulatur. Mehr Daten aus randomisierten kontrollierten Studien zu Rezidivraten, unterschiedlichen Energiequellen und Resektionstechniken sowie freien Resektionsrändern sind notwendig um den Stellenwert der Methode klar einzuordnen.

Abstract

The FKM guideline nonlinear published in 2019 does not yet contain a definition for a cyclic utilization rate in the load direction. One of the reasons is the nonlinear material behavior, which makes it difficult to calculate a utilization rate in the load direction. In order to enable the definition of a cyclic utilization rate, the cyclic utilization rate according to the FKM guideline "Analytical Strength Assessment" (FKM linear) is examined in more detail and a proposal is made for an efficient iteration procedure for the calculation of the utilization rate based on the consequent Miner rule. This iteration procedure has an accuracy comparable to that of Newton's method. Unlike FKM linear, the FKM guideline nonlinear takes nonlinear elastic‐plastic material behavior into account when calculating component fatigue lives. This results in a nonlinearity in the calculation, which makes it difficult to define an objective function for the Newton method. Currently, the user can only use interval nesting, which requires considerable computational effort. The newly introduced efficient iteration method does not require the definition of an objective function and its derivative in order to calculate the next iteration value. The introduction of the efficient iteration procedure thus allows for the first time the fast calculation of a cyclic utilization rate based on FKM guideline nonlinear.
