The growth of the fast-food sector in Lima, driven by the demand for efficient and high-quality services, has created the need to optimize service times in these establishments. This study arises with the objective of addressing inefficiencies in service processes in a fast-food restaurant, using continuous improvement tools such as queuing theory, aggregate planning, and simulations with Arena software. The research focused on improving order handling times through the standardization of methods and times, aggregate production planning, and the application of queuing theory. A continuous improvement model was developed in seven stages, which included detailed time and method studies, flow determination and time standards, and validation through simulations. The most notable results included a significant reduction in average order handling times from 23.14 minutes to 19.18 minutes, which nearly doubled the total number of orders attended from 679 to 1,397. Additionally, the queue size and the number of customers leaving the line drastically decreased from 785 to 75 customers. Furthermore, revenues increased from 17,128 soles to 35,522 soles, demonstrating a remarkable improvement in operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. In the context of the hydrocarbon sector, which is crucial for the global and regional economies of Latin America, significant issues were identified in the operational efficiency of fuel supply terminals. These challenges included deficiencies in machine maintenance, lack of process standardization, and congestion in dispatch areas, negatively impacting productivity and increasing operational costs. This situation highlighted the need to apply method engineering techniques to optimize processes and improve operational efficiency. The contribution of this research consisted of developing and implementing a process improvement model based on method engineering to increase productivity in the dispatch area of a fuel supply terminal. The proposed model included stages of process selection, detailed diagramming, analysis and development of a new method, implementation, and control. These stages allowed for the identification and elimination of redundant activities, optimization of loading times, and improved resource utilization. The most outstanding results of implementing the new method included: a reduction in total process time from 77 to 62 minutes, representing a 19.48% improvement; an increase in the man-machine utilization percentage from 85% to 91%; a significant decrease in the waiting times for tanker trucks; and an improvement in operational efficiency, reaching a maximum efficiency of 98% on high productivity days. These indicators demonstrated that the application of method engineering effectively resolved the identified problems, increasing the productivity and efficiency of the fuel dispatch area. In the context of the Peruvian distribution sector, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face significant challenges in warehouse and inventory management, impacting their operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This study addresses these issues by implementing a logistic model that integrates Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) to optimize operations in a Peruvian plastic distributor. The proposed model aims to enhance warehouse organization, streamline inventory management, and improve delivery performance. The research contribution involves a detailed application of the SLP methodology, combined with ABC analysis for product categorization and matrix tables for layout optimization. Additionally, the study incorporates EOQ for optimal order quantity determination and demand forecasting techniques to reduce stockouts. Key results demonstrate substantial improvements in operational metrics. Notably, on-time delivery rates increased by 18%, from 76% to 90%. Inventory stockouts decreased dramatically by 85%, reducing from 14% to 2%. The overall cycle time for order processing was shortened by 50%, from 60 minutes to 30 minutes. Furthermore, the effort required for picking and packaging activities was reduced by 33%, from 20,620 kg-mt to 13,820 kg-mt. These results indicate that the integration of SLP and EOQ models significantly mitigates the inefficiencies in warehouse management and inventory control, leading to enhanced operational performance and customer satisfaction in the distribution sector. The present study addresses the pervasive issue of delays in machinery repair services within the mining and construction sectors, which are critical to maintaining operational efficiency. The motivation for this research stems from the significant negative impacts of these delays, including missed deadlines, customer dissatisfaction, and financial losses. The study aims to mitigate these challenges by implementing Lean Service methodologies, including 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM), to optimize repair shop processes. The proposed improvement model consists of six stages: Lean Solution, Lean Education, Lean Application, Monitoring and Control, Feedback, and Continuous Improvement. Each stage focuses on specific aspects of process enhancement, from establishing a quality policy and training staff in Lean principles to implementing practical tools such as 5S for workspace organization and Poka Yoke for error prevention. The model also incorporates continuous monitoring, feedback systems, and the Kaizen philosophy to sustain long-term improvements. The implementation of this model yielded notable results. The repair time was reduced by 46%, showcasing a substantial decrease in turnaround time. The 5S audit score improved by 46.27%, indicating enhanced organization and cleanliness in the work environment. Productivity increased by 26.31%, reflecting a higher capacity for repair activities. Additionally, the number of units in process was reduced by 55.55%, demonstrating improved workflow and efficiency. In the dynamic and competitive sector of carbonated beverages, manufacturers in Peru face significant challenges related to machine maintenance, process standardization, and defect management. These issues not only impair production efficiency but also impact public health and consumer satisfaction. This study introduces an integrated approach utilizing Lean Manufacturing methodologies—specifically 5S, Standardized Work, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)—to address these challenges. The proposed model systematically enhances the production processes by reducing waste, improving machine reliability, and standardizing operations to ensure consistent product quality. The implementation of this model in a Peruvian beverage manufacturing facility led to notable improvements: a reduction in the defect rate by 32%, an increase in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) from 61% to 81%, a decrease in downtime by 48%, and a significant reduction in waste. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of Lean Manufacturing tools in transforming production environments by enhancing operational efficiency and reducing losses, thereby fostering a sustainable and consumer-oriented production landscape. The textile sector in Peru has been growing over the years. This growth has generated an increase in the production of textile products, standing out among international markets for the quality of products and fibers used in the country. Indeed, textile companies mean a lot for the country's economy, so it is important that these companies produce textile products in the most efficient way and can be competitive in the international market. Therefore, this research seeks to improve the efficiency in the cutting area of a Peruvian textile company. As main problems of the low efficiency of the company in the cutting area, problems such as poor preparation of activities and an excess of time in the replenishment of materials were found. In order to solve this problem and reach a level of 90% efficiency in the area, the use of Lean tools such as SMED and Work Standardization was proposed. These allow a better time management and level of preparation for the operations in the area. Also, Arena software is used to simulate the current model and the improvement proposal. Stockouts occur when an entity runs out of inventory or when the customer cannot find the product at the point of sale. There is a lot of research that focuses on solving stockout problems in different industries; however, the amount of such research is very limited with respect to SMEs in the pharmaceutical sector. The purpose of this study was to analyze the main reasons for the existence of inventory problems in pharmaceutical SMEs and to develop a model to reduce them. The study unit was an SME dedicated to the commercialization of retail pharmaceutical products, which had an inventory availability of 76.5%, well below the industry average of 93%. Tools based on Lean Healthcare (Kraljic Matrix), EOQ and ABC-VED were used to reduce stockouts as the racks available at the SME were repositioned to provide the best distribution of medications in the pharmacy. In order to have better control of the available medications. As a result, inventory availability increased to 87.7%, the rate of unsatisfied orders decreased by 5.6% and the rate of unsatisfied orders decreased by 11.7%, thus increasing the probability of benefits for the entity and the customer. The manufacturing sector is one of the most influential sectors in a country's economy, as it determines its current status and growth. Within this, the food and beverage industry is one of the biggest ones, representing a large part of the sector in Peru. Hence, the purpose of this research will be to improve the efficiency of one company in the food and beverage industry. Through the tools of Systematic Layout Planning and 5S, belonging to the Lean Manufacturing methodology, measures were proposed in order to achieve the objective. The first consists of generating proposals for plant distribution that allow optimizing times and reducing distances. Through the ARENA software, this tool could be simulated, obtaining promising results. As for the 5S, this will allow to keep the work areas clean and organized, managing to improve the flow of materials and the work environment. This research succeeded to increase the efficiency of the company's plant, demonstrating the effectiveness of these tools. The textile industry in the last decade has considerably increased its competitiveness worldwide, being one of the most influential in the Peruvian economy. For this reason, it is necessary for textile workshops to maintain high productivity, and to be more efficient, making the most of resources in their production. Therefore, the objective of this research is to improve productivity and have better results with little investment, since the textile sector mainly has micro and small companies (SMEs) that occupy a large part of the market, as the company in the present case study. To do this, through the tools of Kanban, 5S and Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), they were implemented in the company to achieve the established objective. Thus, when implementing the 5S, it was possible to obtain better results in terms of a more orderly and clean work area, which allows workers to be more productive and have a better work environment. In the case of SLP, the relational diagram method was carried out and a simulation was carried out using the ARENA software, which had an increase in productivity by reducing the time to carry out a work order of 1400 T-shirts. Nowadays, Peruvian SMEs, with an initial business model, seek and achieve good acceptance in the market, which is obliged to acquire the necessary knowledge and tools to be able to continue and manage a great change in the growth of the company. In this context, the research aims to implement the tools of industrial engineering to achieve the improvement in the level of service in a pharmaceutical SME. It was decided to perform an external analysis of the company to know how it is compared to others in the same sector and internal analysis to determine its strengths and weaknesses. To identify the problem, a deeper analysis of the process will be carried out using the root-cause tree methodology, in which it is concluded that, due to poor management in the warehouse, there are delays in the attention of orders. For the implementation of the improvement, constructivism has been chosen as the theoretical framework; this choice is made to know in depth the different theories that allow corroborating the benefits that the implementation of the different tools to be investigated have brought to the companies. In this case, the normative networks are studied in two ways, 5S and MRP tools. The methodology used for this purpose is based on a quantitative-descriptive analysis, which frames the registration, analysis, and interpretation of an audit and checklist, as well as the times or processes of the phenomena within the company.
