Abstract

The need of a concerted multi-disciplinary approach in the investigation of intermetallic systems and the role of thermochemistry are underlined. The activity carried out in the Author’s laboratory in the alloy thermodynamics is summarized. The different instruments (calorimeters) built in laboratory are briefly presented and their performance discussed. The results obtained in the measurement of the enthalpy of formation mainly of several rare earth alloys are described. The characteristics of the Eu and Yb thermochemistry and crystallochemistry are finally underlined.

Abstract

Rileggendo alcuni lavori dati alle stampe da un erudito antichista del medio Seicento, forse emblematico di certa cultura del suo tempo, ci si chiede come egli riuscisse a percepire e a descrivere le forme geometriche elementari e, soprattutto, i colori. Dal complesso delle sue pagine, che solo raramente offrono spunti utili a questa analisi, sembra di poter ricavare che egli rimanesse sostanzialmente insensibile alla suggestione dei colori laddove vestiva i panni dello studioso e del compilatore (di storie annalistiche o di raccolte epigrafiche), ma un po’ più permeabile quando invece si concedeva minime digressioni di carattere personale o letterario.

Abstract

FLT3 mutation is present in 25-30% of all acute myeloid leukemias (AML), and it is associated with adverse outcome. FLT3 inhibitors have shown improved survival results in AML both as upfront treatment and in relapsed/refractory disease. Curiously, a variable proportion of wild-type FLT3 patients also responded to these drugs.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2021-01-01 The main of this work was to evaluate the nutritional value of three agroindustrial co-products in finishing diets for sheep using the technique of in vitro gas production. The experimental treatments consisted of the inclusion of three different co-products in the diets: corn germ meal, corn germ meal and sunflower meal at levels of 0, 10, 20 and 30%. The kinetics of cumulative gas production was analyzed using the bicompartmental logistic model. The parameters were analyzed through analysis of variance, and when significant, orthogonal contrasts were used for specific partitioning of the effects of dietary inclusion levels on diets. The addition of maize germ meal in the diets, a quadratic behavior (P 0.05) for the degradation rate of this same fraction. In vitro ruminal digestibility reduced linearly (P 0.05) (P 0.05). In vitro ruminal digestibility of DM did not change (P> 0.05) with inclusion of this coproduct. The inclusion of sunflower meal resulted in a linear reduction (P 0.05) for the degradation rate of this same fraction, 0.05) for the production of slow digestion fraction and quadratic effect (P

27. An optimization tool for production planning: A case study in a textile industry

Abstract

The textile industry is an important sector of the Brazilian economy, being considered the fifth largest textile industry in the world. To support further growth and development in this sector, this document proposes a process for production analysis through the use of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and optimization through genetic algorithms. The focus is on production planning for weaving processes and optimization to help make decisions about batch sizing and production scheduling activities. In addition, the correlations between some current technological trends and their implications for the textile industry are also highlighted. Another important contribution of this study is to detail the use of the commercial software Tecnomatix Plant Simulation 13®, to simulate and optimize a production problem by applying genetic algorithms with real production data.
