Automobile executives Gian Luigi Longinotti Buitoni, Tom Elliott and Bob Lutz conducted a joint test-drive of one another's vehicles and then compared results. The cars tested were the Ferrari 348 Spider, Acura NSX, Dodge Viper and Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1.

The Maserati Shamai is not in the same league of cars as the Ferrari 348ts, but at a lower price is still an entertaining car. At 15,000 pounds sterling less than the Ferrari, the Maserati with its Gandini styling can reach 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and continue to a maximum of 168 mph. This is faster than the Ferrari, but the 348ts is easier to drive and is more appealing to drivers.
