Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar onze cultivares de aveia (Avenaspp.) quanto à reação à brusone, causada pelo fungoPyricularia oryzaeCav., sob condições controladas, a fim de identificar cultivares promissoras para uso em programas de melhoramento genético. Foram testadas cinco cultivares deAvena sativa, quatro cultivares deA. strigosae duas cultivares deA. brevis. A reação foi testada em folhas, com quatro isolados deP. oryzae,na concentração de 2 x 105conídios/mL. Quantificou-se número e expansão de lesões, severidade e área abaixo da curva do progresso da doença. As cultivares apresentaram variabilidade quanto à reação à inoculação. O melhor desempenho foi deA. sativa‘URS Taura’, que mostrou os menores valores para número de lesões (2/folha), comprimento (5,42 mm) e largura (1,25 mm) de lesões, área abaixo da curva do progresso da doença (0,65) e severidade (6%). Nenhum genótipo foi resistente, mas quatro cultivares mostraram percentuais de severidade compatíveis com reação de ‘Moderada resistência’:A. sativa‘URS Taura’ (6%), ‘UPFA Ouro’ (14%) e ‘IPR Afrodite’ (24%) eA. brevis‘BRS Madrugada’ (24%). Esses genótipos são referências para uso como parentais nos programas de melhoramento de aveia., The objective of this work was to evaluate eleven oat (Avenaspp.) cultivars for the reaction to the blast caused by the fungusPyricularia oryzaeCav., under controlled conditions, to identify promising cultivars for use in genetic breeding programs. Five cultivars ofAvena sativa, four ofA. strigosaand two ofA. breviswere tested. The reaction was observed in leaves, with four isolates ofP. oryzae, in the concentration of 2 x 105conidia/ml. It was quantified the number and expansion of lesions, severity and area under the curve of disease progression. The cultivars presented variability regarding the reaction to inoculation. The best performance wasA. sativa'URS Taura', which showed the lowest values for number of lesions (2/leaf), length (5.42 mm) and width (1.25 mm) of lesions, area under the curve of disease progression (0.65) and severity (6%). No genotype was resistant, but four cultivars showed severity percentages compatible with 'Moderately resistance':A. sativa'URS Taura' (6%), 'UPFA Ouro' (14%) and 'IPR Afrodite' andA. brevis'BRS Madrugada' (24%). These genotypes are references for use as parents in oat breeding programs.

Understanding the impact of Asian soybean rust on soybean yield is of great importance in the crop simulation model for this crop become it is possible to predict yield using different sowing dates and growth conditions. The goal of this study were to evaluate the performance of two soybean cultivars in Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba, MG, Brazil and the effects of soybean rust on the yield of these cultivars using the CSM-CROPGRO Soybean model. Two soybean cultivars "NK 7074" (early) and "UFUS-Impacta" (medium late), which differ in their development cycles, were growing in Uberaba city during the 2009/2010 growing season. The validation for cultivar "UFUS-Impacta" was conducted comparing the measured and simulated yield data considering three different sowing dates in the "Uberlândia" city during the 2002/2003 growing season. Daily meteorological data obtained from six meteorological stations of the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET). To determine the performance of the soybean cultivars and the effect of soybean rust on yield, three different scenarios were used: no occurrence of rust (NOR) and occurrence of rust with inoculum concentrations of U5.000 and U10.000 urediniospores/mL. For all environments studied, the early cultivar had the best performance than the medium late cultivar. Soybean rust had the most effect on yield for the U10.000 scenario than for the U5.000 scenario. The best soybean performance occurred for "Araxá" and "Uberaba" cities. The South-Southeast area of the "Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba" region was the most sensitive to the effect of rust on yield compared to the North region.

O controle das doenças foliares do trigo (Triticum aestivum) através do tratamento de sementes foi avaliado em Passo Fundo, RS em 1999. A cultivar usada no experimento foi OR 1, conhecida por sua suscetibilidade ao oídio e à ferrugem da folha. Todos os fungicidas diferiram (p > 0,05) da testemunha, não tratada em rendimento de grãos (REND) e peso do hectolitro (PH). Os maiores rendimentos foram obtidos nos tratamentos fluquinconazole + procloraz nas doses de 250,0 g + 51,0 g e 125,0 g + 25,0 g (2.943 kg/ha e 2.864 kg/ha), 132 e 125 %, respectivamente, superiores ao rendimento da testemunha (1.270 kg/ha). Os fungicidas triazóis indicados pela pesquisa (triticonazole, difenoconazole e triadimenol) produziram 1.908 kg/ha, 1.821 kg/ha e 1.815 kg/ha, respectivamente e não diferiram entre si. Não foram observados efeitos fitotóxicos dos tratamentos de sementes com os diferentes fungicidas e doses em teste. O controle do oídio (Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici) e da ferrugem da folha (Puccinia triticina) foi efetivo até aos 98 DAE (dias após a emergência), a partir do qual atingiu-se o limiar indicado para pulverização na parte aérea recomendado. Aos 108 DAE os fungicidas começaram a perder a persistência e aos 118 DAE, as severidades médias de oídio e ferrugem, dos diferentes tratamentos, foram de 6,52% e 33,90% e o da testemunha de 16,5% e 78,0%, respectivamente. O tratamento de sementes com fungicidas como demonstrado nesse trabalho, quando associado com rotação cultural e cultivares mais resistentes, poderá ter importante papel no controle das doenças foliares do trigo reduzindo o custo e a poluição ambiental. The control of wheat (Triticum aestivum) foliar diseases through seed treatment was evaluated in Passo Fundo, RS, during 1999. The cultivar used in the experiment was OR 1 which is known to be very susceptible to powdery mildew and leaf rust. The response variables yield and test weight were significant (P>0.05) lower in the check than in the treatments. Highest yields were obtained with fluquinconazol + prochloraz at rates of 250.0 g + 51.0 g (2,943 kg/ha) and 125.0 g + 25.0 g (2,864 kg/ha) being, respectively, 132% and 125% higher than the yield in check (1,270 kg/ha). While treatments with triticonazol, difenoconazol and triadimenol yielded 1,908 kg/ha, 1,821 kg/ha and 1,815 kg/ha, respectively. No phytotoxic effects due to fungicide treatments were observed. The powdery mildew and leaf rust control was effective up to 98 DAE (days after emergency) which coincided with the threshold for fungicide spraying. Fungicides were no longer efficient after 108 DAE. Powdery mildew and leaf rust severity, at 118 DAE in the treatments involving fluquinconazol + prochloraz were 6.2% and 33.9%, and in the check 16.5% and 78.0%, respectively. Thus, treating wheat seeds with fungicides, as demonstrated in this work, in association with crop rotations and more resistant cultivars may play an important role in controlling foliar diseases of wheat while reducing production costs and environmental polution.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior In recent years, there has been a large increase in the use of simulation models in agriculture. Currently, DSSAT (Decision Support System for Agro-technology Transfer), is an important tool for modeling and simulation of crop growth. However, one of its limitations is the fact that simulation models do not take into account the effect on pests/diseases. Soybean is among the cultures that showed the greatest growth in a Brazilian agribusiness segment area, because of its economic value and cultivation potential under different environmental conditions. Among the diseases that occur in soybean culture, the Asian Soybean Rust, Phakopsora pachyrhizi, caused by the fungus Sydow & Sydow, is considered the most destructive one in Brazil,mainly in the states of Mato Grosso, Goiás, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul. Temperature, relative humidity and leaf wetness period favor fungal development. Thus, this work aimed to calibration and validarion of CSM-CROPGRO-Soybean n estimating the growth, development and yield of soybean culture in the state of Minas Gerais, in relation to three cultivars (BRS6101, BRS Valiosa and MGBR-46 Conquista); evaluate the coupling module of Asian Soybean Rust to CSM-CROPGRO-Soybean, considering on and off soybean culture yield simulations; and analyze the impact of soybean rust in a climate change scenario, using the model ECHAM5/MPI-OM IPCC. Experimental data for evaluation, testing and fitting genetic coefficients of the model for all three soybean cultivars were obtained in Viveiro do Café, an experimental area owned by the Department of Plant Pathology of the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil (20o44 48.5 S, 42o50 58.4 W, alt. 670 m), during the 2006 and 2010 growing seasons. Validation was performed by Vasconcelos (2009) and GLUE (Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation) was used to estimate genetic coefficients. The pedo-transference functions were used to estimate soil physical parameters. The soybean yield simulations were based on the meteorological data of 42 Conventional Stations of the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) and 12 points of the ECHAM5/MPI-OM model for the years 2020, 2030 and 2040. The model presented high sensitivity to genetic coefficient variation by means of the different cultivars analyzed, as well as phenological development and grain yield, under the soil and climate conditions in Viçosa MG. Analyzing the effects of Asian rust,cultivar BRS 6101 (medium) presented a smaller effect on yield for cultivar BRS Valiosa (medium to medium late), which had increased yield break. As for global climate change, the use of data of the model ECHAM5/MPI-OM for the years 2020, 2030 and 2040 showed that the simulations based on INMET model and ECHAM data presented good fits in some years. However, for other years, the fit was not found to be satisfactory. The A1B scenario indicates a decrease in yield up to around 15% in Oeste Mineiro until 2040. The year 2030 appears to be a producer of large soybean crop yields, except in Vale do Mucuri and Campo das Vertentes. Thus, it is concluded that the model can be an important tool for understanding and analyzing yield in different meso-regions of the state of Minas Gerais using historical weather data, soils and global climate change scenarios for each location. Nos últimos anos, tem-se observado grande aumento na utilização de modelos de simulação na agricultura. Atualmente, o DSSAT (Sistema de Suporte à Decisão para Transferência de Agrotecnologia), insere-se como uma importante ferramenta no que tange à modelagem e à simulação de crescimento de culturas, porém, uma das limitações está relacionada com os modelos de simulação que não contabilizam o efeito imposto por pragas/doenças. A soja foi uma das culturas que apresentaram maior crescimento em área plantada no segmento agroindustrial brasileiro, em função do seu valor econômico e da potencialidade de cultivo em diversas condições de ambiente. Dentre as doenças que ocorrem na cultura da soja, a ferrugem asiática, causada pelo fungo Phakopsora pachyrhizi Sydow & Sydow, é considerada a doença de maior potencial destrutivo, provocando danos às lavouras no Brasil, principalmente nos Estados de Mato Grosso, Goiás, Minas Gerais e Mato Grosso do Sul. A temperatura, a umidade relativa do ar e o período de molhamento foliar favorecem o desenvolvimento do fungo. Assim, o presente trabalho objetivou calibar e validar o CSM-CROPGRO- Soybean na estimativa do crescimento, desenvolvimento e da produtividade da cultura da soja no Estado de Minas Gerais para três cultivares (BRS6101, BRS Valiosa e MGBR-46 Conquista); avaliar o CSM-CROPGRO-Soybean, considerando as simulações com os efeitos no rendimento pela ferrugem asiática na cultura da soja ligado e desligado; e analisar o impacto da ferrugem da soja em cenário de mudanças climáticas, utilizando o modelo ECHAM5/MPI-OM do IPCC. Os dados experimentais para a avaliação, teste e ajuste dos coeficientes genéticos do modelo para as três cultivares de soja foram obtidos no Viveiro do Café, área experimental que pertence ao Departamento de Fitopatologia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV), Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brasil (20o44 48.5 S, 42o50 58.4 W, alt. 670 m), durante as épocas de cultivo 2006 e 2010. A validação foi realizada segundo Vasconcelos (2009). O GLUE (do inglês, Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation) foi utilizado para a estimativa dos coeficientes genéticos. As funções de pedotransferência foram utilizadas para a estimativa dos parâmetros físicos do solo. As simulações da produtividade da soja foram realizadas com base nos dados meteorológicos de 42 estações convencionais do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia (INMET) e 12 pontos do modelo ECHAM5/MPI-OM para os anos de 2020, 2030 e 2040. O modelo apresentou alta sensibilidade à variação dos coeficientes genéticos por meio das diferentes cultivares analisadas, bem como do desenvolvimento fenológico e da produtividade de grãos, considerando as condições de solo e clima de Viçosa, MG. Analisando-se os efeitos da ferrugem asiática, a cultivar BRS 6101 (semiprecoce) apresentou um menor efeito no rendimento em relação a cultivar BRS Valiosa (médio a semitardio), que teve maior quebra de produtividade. No que tange às mudanças climáticas globais utilizando os dados do modelo ECHAM5/MPI-OM para os anos de 2020, 2030 e 2040, os resultados mostraram que as simulações realizadas a partir dos dados do INMET e do modelo ECHAM apresentaram bons ajustes, entretanto observamos que não foi satisfatório. O cenário A1B indica uma redução na produtividade que pode alcançar até em torno de 15% no Oeste Mineiro para o ano de 2040. O ano de 2030 mostra-se possivelmente como detentor de grande rendimento na cultura da soja, exceto no Vale do Mucuri e Campo das Vertentes. Desse modo, conclui-se que o modelo pode ser uma importante ferramenta no entendimento e na análise da produtividade nas diferentes mesorregiões do Estado de Minas Gerais, utilizando dados meteorológicos históricos, solos e cenário de mudanças climáticas globais para cada localidade.
