Öğrencilerin teknoloji ile iç içe büyümeleri ve bununla beraber dijital dünyadaki varlıkları göz önüne alınarak, dijital ortamda ahlaki değer algılarını belirlemeye yönelik bir ölçeğin alanyazında olmadığı belirlenmiş ve bu çalışmanın yapılması uygun görülmüştür. Çalışma grubunu; 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim dönemi Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı Gazi Ortaokulunda öğrenim görmekte olan toplam 266 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Elde edilen veriler üzerinden ölçeğin yapı geçerliliğine bakılması amacı ile açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizleri yapılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda ölçekten çıkarılması gereken 13 madde ölçekten çıkarılmıştır. Ölçekte kalan 17 maddenin amaca hizmet etme düzeyini test etmek amacıyla madde toplam korelasyon yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Ölçeğin geçerliliği için Pearson’s r testi; Maddelerin ayırt ediciliği için %27 üst grup ve %27 alt grup belirlenerek gruplar arasındaki farka bakılmıştır. Güvenirliğini bulabilmek amacıyla iç tutarlılık katsayıları hesaplanarak, test tekrar test yöntemi ve kararlılık testleri yapılmıştır. Ölçek üç faktörden ve 17 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Birinci faktör “Hakkaniyet-Sorumluluk” faktörü dokuz madde, ikinci faktör “Merhamet-Dürüstlük” faktörü dört madde ve üçüncü faktör “Mahremiyet-Nezaket” faktörü 4 maddedir. Ölçekteki faktörlerin toplamının Cronbach Alpha değeri ise 0,867’dir. Ölçekte belirlenen faktörlerin toplam varyansın %46,116’sını açıkladığı bulunmuştur. Analizler neticesinde ölçeğin geçerli ve güvenilir olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Robotic education is a popular topic in recent years. There are robotic education courses from pre-K to K-12 and these courses claim that they support STEM education. However, the teacher’s perception of these activities and needs for this education is the missing part of the chain. The aim of this study to find out the perceptions and suggestions of early childhood teachers about robotic education in kindergartens. This is a qualitative phenomenological study. Ten early childhood education (ECE) teachers were the participants of this study. A semi-structured interview form was developed and in-depth interviews were conducted to collect qualitative data. After that codes and themes were defined through the content analysis process. The results of this study showed that ECE teachers have a positive attitude towards robotic education in kindergarten. The current status of kindergarten, perceived advantages/disadvantages of robotic education, and ideal robotic education were the emerged themes during data analysis. According to results, ECE teachers thought that there are many needs like teacher training, materials, curriculum, infrastructure, technical support, and parent education for implementing robotic education properly in kindergartens. Also, teachers underlined that robotics education could be beneficial for motivation, knowledge, thinking skills, development, and psychomotor skills of children. Results also revealed ECE teachers’ suggestions about ideal robotic education in kindergartens. Suggestions for future studies and practitioners were also included.

Bu araştırma, ortaokul 6,7 ve 8.sınıf öğrencilerinin Kodlama eğitimine dönük öz-yeterlik algı düzeyleri, STEM beceri düzeyleri ve bilgisayarca düşünme beceri düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Amasya il merkezinde bir ortaokulda 6, 7 ve 8. sınıflarda öğrenim görmekte olan 202 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada karma araştırma deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırma nicel verileri Blok Temelli Programlamaya İlişkin Öz-yeterlik Algısı Ölçeği, Bilgisayarca Düşünme Beceri Düzeyleri Ölçeği ve STEM Beceri Düzeyleri Algı Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanırken nitel verileri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen nicel verilerin temel istatistiksel analizleri (aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, en küçük ve en büyük değerleri) gerçekleştirilmiş ve elde edilen puanların gruplar açısından istatistiksel anlamlı derecede farklılık yaratıp yaratmadığını belirlemek için bağımsız örneklem t testi ile ANOVA testi kullanılmıştır. Bununla birlikte, Pearson r katsayısı hesaplanmış ve regresyon analizi ile de değişkenler arasındaki ilişkinin büyüklüğü belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel verileri Nvivo ile analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar şu şekildedir: Ortaokul öğrencilerinin blok temelli kodlama eğitimine dönük öz-yeterlik algı düzeyleri düşük ve bilgisayarca düşünme beceri düzeyleri orta düzeydedir. Öğrencilerinin blok temelli kodlama eğitimine dönük öz-yeterlik algı düzeylerini bilgisayarca düşünme beceri düzeyi ve STEM beceri düzeyi hepsi birlikte toplam varyansın %14’ü oranında yordadığı belirlenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of pre-service teachers towards programming, the perceptions of self-efficacy about block-based programming and the opinions of pre-service teachers on the use of educational robots. This research is a quantitative and qualitative research conducted using a mixed research design. The study group of the research consisted of 140 undergraduate students from the universities in Turkey, studying in the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies. The data were collected through the Attitude Scale of Computer Programming Learning, the Self-Efficacy Perception Scale Related to Block-Based Programming and the interview form developed by the researchers. The quantitative data were analyzed by arithmetic mean, standard deviation, pearson r correlation, regression, t-test and ANOVA analysis, and the qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis method and the following results were obtained: the attitudes of pre-service teachers and their perceptions of self-efficacy are above average and interrelated. The pre-service teachers’ perceptions of self-efficacy vary according to grade level. However, their attitudes do not differ according to class level. However, the perceptions of self-efficacy and the attitudes have been found to differ according to the university where they study gender and education. In addition, pre-service teachers’ opinions about educational robots are that educational robots contribute to problem solving and programming skills.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, eğitsel robot setlerinden Lego Mindstorms Ev3 tabanlı etkinliklerin ortaokul 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin Fen ve Teknoloji dersine karşı tutumlarına ve STEM beceri düzeylerine etkisini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada karma yöntem kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın nicel boyutunu yarı deneysel desen oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın nitel boyutunda görüşme formu ile nitel veri toplanmış ve içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada verilerin toplanmasında “Fen ve Teknoloji (FT) Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği”, “STEM Beceri Düzeyleri Algı Ölçeği” ve 16 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Fen ve Teknoloji (FT) Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği 5 faktörden ve 20 maddeden oluşmakta ve iç tutarlılık katsayısı α= 0,8739’dur. STEM Beceri Düzeyleri Algı Ölçeği ise 3 faktör, 38 maddeden oluşmakta ve iç tutarlılık katsayısı α=0,969’dur. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 57 7. Sınıf öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Deney grubunda basit makinalar konusu işlendikten sonra, Lego eğitim setleri kullanılarak öğrencilerin basit makinalar tasarlamaları sağlanmış, ayrıca basit makinaların kullanıldığı robotlar yapmaları istenmiştir. Kontrol grubunda ise konu geleneksel yöntemle anlatılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler üzerinde aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma ile t testi yapılmış ve nitel verilerin de ışığında şu sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır: STEM eğitim yaklaşımının temel STEM beceri düzeylerine anlamlı düzeyde ve derse dönük tutumlarına kısmen katkı sağlamaktadır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin derse karşı ilgisinde artış olduğunu belirlenmiştir.

In addition to the studies on what the 21st century skills are, how these skills will be gained by the students, that is, after completing the K-12 and university education, the problem of how the students will graduate with these skills has become one of the most important questions waiting for an answer all over the world and it has been an issue for the world of education. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education approach has the potential to respond to these questions to some extent. The purpose of this study is to adapt ‘the basic STEM skills level self-perception’ scale which was formerly designed to measure the STEM skills levels of the university students within their self- perception, to the secondary school level and define secondary school students’ basic STEM skills levels within their self-perception. This study was conducted in a descriptive survey model. The participants were 501 middle school students. Data of this study were collected using the “Basic STEM Skill Levels Perception Scale”. Exploratory factor analysis was run to figure out the construct validity of the instrument. Item discrimination was tested by observing the differentiation between groups of 27% and top 27%. As a result: ‘Basic STEM Skill Levels Scale’ was adapted to the level of secondary school. The scale is a 7-point Likert-type scale containing of 23 items that can be categorized three factors. Within their self-perceptions, students’ basic STEM skills in science and mathematics are at intermediate level. However, it is seen that the basic STEM skills related to the field of engineering and technology are relatively low. There is a similarity between students’ genders in science and engineering - technology factors.

The aim of this study is to develop a perception scale related to the possible basic skills that can be gained through STEM. Participants of this study were 723 university students. In this study, descriptive survey study was conducted. To identify validity of the scale exploratory factor analysis, cumulative item factor, corrected correlations and item discrimination were calculated. For reliability internal consistency and stability level were calculated. Collected data were analyzed in terms of arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t and ANOVA. The scale is a 7-point likert-type scale which consists of 43 items under 3 factors. Data analysis results showed that this scale is valid and reliable for measuring students’ STEM skills according to their perceptions.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of robotics and coding instruction on preschoolers’ problem-solving skills and creative thinking abilities. Designed as a quasi-experimental research with pretest–posttest control groups, this study was conducted in a preschool in Amasya province of Turkey. A total of 40 preschool students were recruited in this study. The data were collected through ‘the Problem-Solving Skill Scale (PSSS)’ and ‘the Creative Thinking Abilities Test’. The experimental procedure lasted for four weeks, and a total of 32 -h lesson was conducted. During the procedure in the experimental group, WeDo 2.0 Educational Robotics Kit was employed, while pen and paper activities were conducted in the control group. The participants in the experimental group performed ‘GlowingSnail’, ‘Moovingsatellite’, ‘Spacecraft’, ‘Milo Science’, ‘Milo’s Motion Sensory Robot’, and ‘Frog Robot’ activities, whereas those in the control group read such stories as ‘Winnie the Witch under the Sea’, ‘Where Do Emotions and Broken Hearts Go’, ‘the Aliens Activity’, and ‘Timing, and listened to ‘the Planets’ song. The results show that robotics and coding instruction has provided statistically significant contribution to preschoolers’ problem-solving skills compared to the pen and paper activities. Further, imagination and originality factors in the language domain as well as completion, new elements addition, and unconventionality factors in the drawing domain were found to be statistically significant compared to the other factors. Several limitations and recommendations are provided.
