Introduction To evaluate patient satisfaction with samfilcon A contact lenses (CLs) in intensive digital device users with myopia and to compare patient satisfaction with samfilcon A lenses to prior experience with senofilcon A or lotrafilcon B CLs. Methods This was a comparative, prospective, national study conducted at 14 centers in Turkey. Subjects were adults aged 18 and 45 years with myopia (range −0.25 D to −6.00 D) who spend a minimum of 3 hours viewing digital devices (e.g., computer, smartphone). A subgroup of patients were habitual lens wearers (senofilcon A or lotrafilcon B lens wear for at least 6 months prior to enrollment). The primary assessment was patient satisfaction with samfilcon A lenses (0–100 Likert scale). Secondary assessments included patient satisfaction with samfilcon A lenses compared to patients’ habitual lenses, investigator satisfaction with samfilcon A lenses and investigator-evaluated slit lamp examination findings. Results Samfilcon A lenses were given high overall ratings from both patients and investigators, with a low incidence of ocular symptoms. Overall, patients were highly satisfied with samfilcon A lenses for comfort, vision and overall performance, and stated that they would consider wearing these lenses in the future. Among habitual senofilcon A or lotrafilcon B lens wearers, samfilcon A lenses were rated significantly better than the habitual lenses in regard to comfort, vision and overall performance. Investigator assessments were also highly favorable, both at initial fit and after 4 weeks of follow-up, with no significant findings noted on slit lamp examination. Conclusion Samfilcon A lenses were rated highly by investigators in regard to fit, handling and slit lamp findings, and by novice and habitual lens wearers in regard to comfort, vision and overall performance. These results support the use of samfilcon A lenses among digital device users who seek day-long comfort and good visual acuity. Amaç: Rose K ve Conflex Air sert gaz geçirgen kontakt lenslerinin görsel performansını keratokonus alt gruplarındaki kon tipi, kon lokasyonu, hastalık şiddetinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Yetmiş beş hastanın 75 gözü geriye dönük çalışmaya dahil edildi. Her hastaya refraksiyon, düzeltilmemiş görme keskinliğ, gözlükle en iyi düzeltilmiş görme keskinliği, yarıklı-lamba biyomikroskopisi-fundoskopisi, göz yaşı kırılma zamanı, korneal topografi, kontakt lens ile en iyi düzeltilmiş görme keskinliğini içeren tam bir oftalmolojik muayene yapıldı. Bulgular: Ortalama yaş 25.9±8.3 (aralık 18-53) idi. Otuz altı göze Rose K, 39 göze Conflex Air uygulandı. Materials and Methods: Seventy-five eyes of 75 participants were included in this retrospective study. Each participant received a full ophthalmologic examination involving refraction, uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best spectacle corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit-lamp biomicroscopy-fundoscopy, break-up time (BUT), corneal topography, best contact lens corrected visual acuity (BCLCVA). Results: The mean age was 25.9±8.3 years (range 18-53). Rose K was fitted for 36 eyes and Conflex Air was fitted for 39 eyes. Objectives.To evaluate the visual performance of Toris K soft contact lenses in patients with moderate-to-advanced keratoconus and also to compare the results according to cone types, cone location, and severity of keratoconus.Materials and Methods.Sixty eyes of 40 participants were included in this retrospective study. Uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best-spectacle corrected visual acuity (BCVA), best-contact lens corrected visual acuity (BCLCVA), and comfort rating via visual analogue scales (VAS) were measured.Results.The mean age was 27.3 ± 8.6 years (range: 18 to 54). The mean logMAR UCVA, BCVA, and BCLCVA were 0.85 ± 0.38 (range: 0.30–1.30), 0.47 ± 0.27 (range: 0.10–1.30), and 0.16 ± 0.20 (range: 0–1.00). There were significant increases in visual acuities with contact lenses (p<.05). BCLCVA was significantly better in oval type than globus type (p=.022). UCVA and BCLCVA were significantly better in moderate keratoconus group (p=.015,p=.018). The mean line gain in Snellen was 3.6 ± 1.8 lines (range: 0–7 lines). The mean line gain was higher in central cone group than paracentral cone group and oval group than globus group (p=.014,p=.045). The mean VAS score was 8.14 ± 1.88 (range: 6–10).Conclusions.Toris K can improve visual acuity of patients with keratoconus. Toris K is successful even in the moderate and advanced form of the disease.

Aim: In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the macular thickness of healthy subjects in our region and to compare the results by age and gender. Materials and Methods: Two hundred eyes of 100 patients (54 female, 46 male) were included in this cross-sectional study. All cases were over 20 years old and over, and had no ocular or systemic disorder rather than low refractive errors (±3 diopter spherical equivalent). Anterior and posterior segment examinations were performed with slit-lamp biomicroscopy. Goldmann applanation tonometer was used for intraocular pressure measurement. Stratus optical coherence tomography (OCT) was used for macular thickness measurement. Results: The mean age was 50.7±17.8 (range 20-89). Mean foveal thickness was 199.2±24.7 μm (range 138-276) for all cases, 195.8±26.9 μm (range 138-276) for females and 203.2±21.2 μm (range 163-268) for males. The mean foveal thickness, inner temporal quadrant thickness and outer temporal quadrant thickness were significantly higher in males than females (p=0.035, p=0.015 and p=0.025, respectively). There was no difference in age decades. Conclusion: We determined the normal macular thickness measurements for Stratus OCT device in our region. There was no change in macular thickness with ageing. Males have thicker macula at some areas of the macula than females and the mean foveal thickness is higher in males., Amaç: Bu çalışmada, bölgemizdeki sağlıklı insanlardaki maküler kalınlık ölçümlerini değerlendirilmesi ve sonuçların yaş ve cinsiyete göre karşılaştırılması amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Kesitsel çalışmada 100 hastanın (54 kadın, 46 erkek) 200 gözü incelendi. Vakaların tümü 20 yaş ve üzerinde olup tamamında düşük kırma kusuru (±3 diyoptri sferik ekivalan) dışında göz bozukluğu ya da gözü etkileyecek sistemik bir hastalık yoktu. Ön segment ve arka segment muayeneleri yarıklı lamba biyomikroskopisi ile yapıldı. Göz içi basıncı ölçümleri Goldmann aplanasyon tonometrisi ile yapıldı. Maküler kalınlık ölçümleri için Stratus optik koherens tomografi (OKT) kullanıldı. Bulgular: Ortalama yaş 50.7±17.8 (20-89 aralığında) idi. Tüm olguların ortalama fovea kalınlıkları 199.2±24.7 μm (138-276 aralığında), kadın hastaların 195.8±26.9 μm (138-276 aralığında), erkek hastaların ise 203.2±21.2 μm (163-268 aralığında) idi. Ortalama foveal kalınlık, iç temporal kadran ve dış temporal kadran ortalama kalınlıklarının erkek hastalarda istatistiksel olarak daha kalın olduğu bulundu (sırasıyla p=0.035, p=0.015, p=0.025). Hastalar yaş dekatlarına göre karşılaştırıldığında, ölçümler arasında anlamlı fark yoktu. Sonuç: Bu çalışma ile bölgemizdeki Stratus OKT cihazına ait maküler kalınlık normallerini belirlemiş olduk. Yaşla birlikte maküler kalınlıkta değişiklik olmadığı saptandı. Erkeklerde makülanın bazı bölgelerinin kadınlara göre daha kalın olduğunu ve ortalama maküler kalınlığın da erkeklerde daha yüksek olduğunu saptadık.
