Solifugae, commonly known as camel spiders, sun spiders or wind scorpions, is a relatively understudied order of predominantly nocturnal, cursorial and predatory arachnids, characterised by their formidable two-segmented chelicerae, voracious appetite and impressive speed. It is one of the meso-diverse arachnid orders, comprising 15 families, 144 genera, over 1200 described species and five monotypic fossil genera. Karschia Walter, 1889 is a small genus within the solifugid family Karschiidae, which, until now, had contained 32 species distributed in North Africa, Middle East and Central Asia, with 12 of these described from western regions of China.Two new species of the genus Karschia Walter, 1889 are described from Xizang, China: Karschia (Karschia) shannan sp. nov. and Karschia (Karschia) trisetalis sp. nov. Detailed morphological descriptions, photographs of the bodies and a distribution map of these two new species are provided.

Abstract Background Periodontitis results from host-microbe dysbiosis and the resultant dysregulated immunoinflammatory response. Importantly, it closely links to numerous systemic comorbidities, and perplexingly contributes to adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs). Currently, there are limited studies on the distal consequences of periodontitis via oral-gut axis in pregnant women. This study investigated the integrative microbiome-metabolome profiles through multi-omics approaches in first-trimester pregnant women and explored the translational potentials. Methods We collected samples of subgingival plaques, saliva, sera and stool from 54 Chinese pregnant women at the first trimester, including 31 maternal periodontitis (Perio) subjects and 23 Non-Perio controls. By integrating 16S rRNA sequencing, untargeted metabolomics and clinical traits, we explored the oral-gut microbial and metabolic connection resulting from periodontitis among early pregnant women. Results We demonstrated a novel bacterial distinguisher Coprococcus from feces of periodontitis subjects in association with subgingival periodontopathogens, being different from other fecal genera in Lachnospiraceae family. The ratio of fecal Coprococcus to Lachnoclostridium could discriminate between Perio and Non-Perio groups as the ratio of subgingival Porphyromonas to Rothia did. Furthermore, there were differentially abundant fecal metabolic features pivotally enriched in periodontitis subjects like L-urobilin and kynurenic acid. We revealed a periodontitis-oriented integrative network cluster, which was centered with fecal Coprococcus and L-urobilin as well as serum triglyceride. Conclusions The current findings about the notable influence of periodontitis on fecal microbiota and metabolites in first-trimester pregnant women via oral-gut axis signify the importance and translational implications of preconceptional oral/periodontal healthcare for enhancing maternal wellbeing.

Abstract In the last ten years, stem cell (SC) therapy has been extensively used to treat a range of conditions such as degenerative illnesses, ischemia-related organ dysfunction, diabetes, and neurological disorders. However, the clinical application of these therapies is limited due to the poor survival and differentiation potential of stem cells (SCs). Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), as a non-invasive therapy, has shown great application potential in enhancing the proliferation, differentiation, migration, and recruitment of stem cells, offering new possibilities for utilizing ESWT in conjunction with stem cells for the treatment of different systemic conditions. The review provides a detailed overview of the advances in using ESWT with SCs to treat musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, genitourinary, and nervous system conditions, suggesting that ESWT is a promising strategy for enhancing the efficacy of SC therapy for various diseases.

Abstract Background Retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RPLPS) is a relatively rare disease. Liposarcomas vary in size, but sizeable RPLPS larger than 30 cm in diameter are very rare, and their diagnosis and treatment present significant challenges. Case presentation We report a 58-year-old male patient who was admitted to the hospital with an increased abdominal circumference and was later diagnosed with a giant RPLPS. The liposarcoma was found to adhere to the right kidney and the entire ureter, invading the ascending colon. The patient underwent complete combined surgical resection. The tumor was removed intact, measured 55.0 cm × 30.0 cm × 18.0 cm, and weighed 19.8 kg. Histopathologic analysis revealed well-differentiated liposarcoma (WDLPS). The patient was successfully discharged from the hospital and followed up for 6 months with no signs of recurrence. Conclusion RPLPS is a rare tumor with atypical clinical presentation. Surgery remains the most effective method of treatment for retroperitoneal sarcomas, with complete removal if there is local invasion. Preoperative examination, including three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction, is essential for surgical success. The role of adjuvant radiotherapy or chemotherapy remains controversial. However, clinicians should not rule them out as viable options.

Abstract Background UV-B, an important environmental factor, has been shown to affect the yield and quality of rice (Oryza sativa) worldwide. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the response to UV-B stress remain elusive in rice. Results We perform comprehensive metabolic profiling of leaves from 160 diverse rice accessions under UV-B and normal light conditions using a widely targeted metabolomics approach. Our results reveal substantial differences in metabolite accumulation between the two major rice subspecies indica and japonica, especially after UV-B treatment, implying the possible role and mechanism of metabolome changes in subspecies differentiation and the stress response. We next conduct a transcriptome analysis from four representative rice varieties under UV-B stress, revealing genes from amino acid and flavonoid pathways involved in the UV-B response. We further perform a metabolite-based genome-wide association study (mGWAS), which reveals 3307 distinct loci under UV-B stress. Identification and functional validation of candidate genes show that OsMYB44 regulates tryptamine accumulation to mediate UV-B tolerance, while OsUVR8 interacts with OsMYB110 to promote flavonoid accumulation and UV-B tolerance in a coordinated manner. Additionally, haplotype analysis suggests that natural variation of OsUVR8 groupA contributes to UV-B resistance in rice. Conclusions Our study reveals the complex biochemical and genetic foundations that govern the metabolite dynamics underlying the response, tolerance, and adaptive strategies of rice to UV-B stress. These findings provide new insights into the biochemical and genetic basis of the metabolome underlying the crop response, tolerance, and adaptation to UV-B stress.

Altimella Wang & Zhang, gen. nov., a new genus belonging to Cicurinidae, is established, and two new species are described, Altimella nedong Wang & Zhang, sp. nov. (♂♀, type species) and A. ngamring Wang & Zhang, sp. nov. (♂♀), from Xizang, China. Detailed descriptions of somatic features and genital characteristics, photos of the habitus, photos and drawings of the copulatory organs, and a distribution map are provided.

Abstract Background Microplastics, widely present in the environment, are implicated in disease pathogenesis through oxidative stress and immune modulation. Prevailing research, primarily based on animal and cell studies, falls short in elucidating microplastics' impact on human cardiovascular health. This cross-sectional study detected blood microplastic concentrations in patients presenting with chest pain using pyrolysis–gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and evaluating inflammatory and immune markers through flow cytometry, to explore the potential effects of microplastic on acute coronary syndrome. Results The study included 101 participants, comprising 19 controls and 82 acute coronary syndrome cases. Notably, acute coronary syndrome patients exhibited elevated microplastic concentrations, with those suffering from acute myocardial infarction presenting higher loads compared to those with unstable angina. Furthermore, patients at intermediate to high risk of coronary artery disease displayed significantly higher microplastic accumulations than their low-risk counterparts. A significant relationship was observed between increased microplastic levels and enhanced IL-6 and IL-12p70 contents, alongside elevated B lymphocyte and natural killer cell counts. Conclusion These results suggest an association between microplastics and both vascular pathology complexity and immunoinflammatory response in acute coronary syndrome, underscoring the critical need for targeted research to delineate the mechanisms of this association. Abstract Purpose Bone and joint tuberculosis (BJTB) is a distinct variant of tuberculosis in which clinical diagnosis often leads to relative misdiagnosis and missed diagnoses. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the targeted nanopore sequencing (TNPseq) assay for BJTB patients in China. Method The study enrolled a cohort of 163 patients with suspected BJTB. Diagnostic testing was performed using the TNPseq assay on samples including punctured tissue, pus, and blood. The diagnostic accuracy of the TNPseq assay was then compared with that of the T-SPOT and Xpert MTB/RIF assays. Result TNPseq exhibited superior performance in terms of accuracy, demonstrating a sensitivity of 76.3% (95% CI: 71.0-81.6%) and a specificity of 98.8% (95% CI: 93.5–100%) in clinical diagnosis. When evaluated against a composite reference standard, TNPseq demonstrated a sensitivity of 74.4% (95% CI: 69.3–79.5%) and a specificity of 98.8% (95% CI: 93.7–100%). These results exceed the performance of both the T-SPOT and Xpert MTB/RIF tests. Notably, TNPseq demonstrated high specificity and accuracy in puncture specimens, with a sensitivity of 75.0% (95% CI: 70.2–79.8%) and a specificity of 98.3% (95% CI: 92.7–100%), as well as in pus samples, with a sensitivity of 83.3% (95% CI: 78.6–88.1%) and a specificity of 100% (95% CI: 100–100%). Additionally, TNPseq facilitated the detection of mixed infection scenarios, identifying 20 cases of bacterial-fungal co-infection, 17 cases of bacterial-viral co-infection, and two cases of simultaneous bacterial-fungal-viral co-infection. Conclusion TNPseq demonstrated great potential in the diagnosis of BJTB due to its high sensitivity and specificity. The ability of TNPseq to diagnose pathogens and detect drug resistance genes can also guide subsequent treatment. Expanding the application scenarios and scope of TNPseq will enable it to benefit more clinical treatments.

By benchmarking with the iteration of drilling technology, fracturing technology and well placement mode for shale oil and gas development in the United States and considering the geological characteristics and development difficulties of shale oil in the Jiyang continental rift lake basin, East China, the development technology system suitable for the geological characteristics of shale oil in continental rift lake basins has been primarily formed through innovation and iteration of the development, drilling and fracturing technologies. The technology system supports the rapid growth of shale oil production and reduces the development investment cost. By comparing it with the shale oil development technology in the United States, the prospect of the shale oil development technology iteration in continental rift lake basins is proposed. It is suggested to continuously strengthen the overall three-dimensional development, improve the precision level of engineering technology, upgrade the engineering technical indicator system, accelerate the intelligent optimization of engineering equipment, explore the application of complex structure wells, form a whole-process integrated quality management system from design to implementation, and constantly innovate the concept and technology of shale oil development, so as to promote the realization of extensive, beneficial and high-quality development of shale oil in continental rift lake basins.

Abstract Diagnosing liver lesions is crucial for treatment choices and patient outcomes. This study develops an automatic diagnosis system for liver lesions using multiphase enhanced computed tomography (CT). A total of 4039 patients from six data centers are enrolled to develop Liver Lesion Network (LiLNet). LiLNet identifies focal liver lesions, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), metastatic tumors (MET), focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH), hemangioma (HEM), and cysts (CYST). Validated in four external centers and clinically verified in two hospitals, LiLNet achieves an accuracy (ACC) of 94.7% and an area under the curve (AUC) of 97.2% for benign and malignant tumors. For HCC, ICC, and MET, the ACC is 88.7% with an AUC of 95.6%. For FNH, HEM, and CYST, the ACC is 88.6% with an AUC of 95.9%. LiLNet can aid in clinical diagnosis, especially in regions with a shortage of radiologists.

Abstract This study investigates the cellular origin and tissue heterogeneity in bipolar disorder (BD) by integrating multiomics data. Four distinct datasets were employed, including single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data (embryonic and fetal brain, n = 8, 1,266 cells), BD Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin using sequencing (ATAC-seq) data (adult brain, n = 210), BD bulk RNA-seq data (adult brain, n = 314), and BD genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary data (n = 413,466). The integration of scRNA-seq data with multiomics data relevant to BD was accomplished using the single-cell disease relevance score (scDRS) algorithm. We have identified a novel brain cell cluster named ADCY1, which exhibits distinct genetic characteristics. From a high-resolution genetic perspective, glial cells emerge as the primary cytopathology associated with BD. Specifically, astrocytes were significantly related to BD at the RNA-seq level, while microglia showed a strong association with BD across multiple panels, including the transcriptome-wide association study (TWAS), ATAC-seq, and RNA-seq. Additionally, oligodendrocyte precursor cells displayed a significant association with BD in both ATAC-seq and RNA-seq panel. Notably, our investigation of brain regions affected by BD revealed significant associations between BD and all three types of glial cells in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). Through comprehensive analyses, we identified several BD-associated genes, including CRMP1, SYT4, UCHL1, and ZBTB18. In conclusion, our findings suggest that glial cells, particularly in specific brain regions such as the DLPFC, may play a significant role in the pathogenesis of BD. The integration of multiomics data has provided valuable insights into the etiology of BD, shedding light on potential mechanisms underlying this complex psychiatric disorder.

Abstract Purpose To investigate the prevalence of insomnia among nurses with long COVID-19, analyze the potential risk factors and establish a nomogram model. Methods Nurses in Ningbo, China, were recruited for this study. General demographic information and insomnia, burnout, and stress assessment scores were collected through a face-to face questionnaire survey administered at a single center from March to May 2023. We used LASSO regression to identify potential factors contributing to insomnia. Then, a nomogram was plotted based on the model chosen to visualize the results and evaluated by receiver operating characteristic curves and calibration curves. Results A total of 437 nurses were recruited. 54% of the nurses had insomnia according to the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) score. Eleven variables, including family structure, years of work experience, relaxation time, respiratory system sequelae, nervous system sequelae, others sequelae, attitudes toward COVID-19, sleep duration before infection, previous sleep problems, stress, and job burnout, were independently associated with insomnia. The R-squared value was 0.464, and the area under the curve was 0.866. The derived nomogram showed that neurological sequelae, stress, job burnout, sleep duration before infection, and previous sleep problems contributed the most to insomnia. The calibration curves showed significant agreement between the nomogram models and actual observations. Conclusion This study focused on insomnia among nurses with long COVID-19 and identified eleven risk factors related to nurses’ insomnia. A nomogram model was established to illustrate and visualize these factors, which will be instrumental in future research for identifying nurses with insomnia amid pandemic normalization and may increase awareness of the health status of healthcare workers with long COVID-19.

Abstract A specific optimized configuration for low threshold organic semiconductor laser based on a holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal (HPDLC) transmission grating was demonstrated. Here the organic semiconductor films and phase separated liquid crystal (LC) molecules were oriented along the direction of the HPDLC grating grooves. The influence of the organic semiconductor chain orientation and the excitation polarization on the optical properties of the materials has been investigated. Especially, when polymer chain orientation, LC molecules and pump light polarization are consistent with the direction of the grating grooves, the performance of the outgoing laser is greatly improved. Up to 9.78% conversion efficiency with a threshold lower to 0.12 μJ/pulse can be obtained, indicating their potential for high-performance organic optoelectronics.

Aims: The metabolic variations between the cartilage of osteoarthritis (OA) and Kashin-Beck disease (KBD) remain largely unknown. Our study aimed to address this by conducting a comparative analysis of the metabolic profiles present in the cartilage of KBD and OA. Methods: Cartilage samples from patients with KBD (n = 10) and patients with OA (n = 10) were collected during total knee arthroplasty surgery. An untargeted metabolomics approach using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS) was conducted to investigate the metabolomics profiles of KBD and OA. LC-MS raw data files were converted into mzXML format and then processed by the XCMS, CAMERA, and metaX toolbox implemented with R software. The online Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) database was used to annotate the metabolites by matching the exact molecular mass data of samples with those from the database. Results: A total of 807 ion features were identified for KBD and OA, including 577 positive (240 for upregulated and 337 for downregulated) and 230 negative (107 for upregulated and 123 for downregulated) ions. After annotation, LC-MS identified significant expressions of ten upregulated and eight downregulated second-level metabolites, and 183 upregulated and 162 downregulated first-level metabolites between KBD and OA. We identified differentially expressed second-level metabolites that are highly associated with cartilage damage, including dimethyl sulfoxide, uric acid, and betaine. These metabolites exist in sulphur metabolism, purine metabolism, and glycine, serine, and threonine metabolism. Conclusion: This comprehensive comparative analysis of metabolism in OA and KBD cartilage provides new evidence of differences in the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying cartilage damage in these two conditions. In order to realize the reliable ignition of coal particle continuous rotating detonation engine, this study investigated the influence mechanism of coal particle concentration and apparent morphology on the initiation characteristics of coal/ethylene/oxygen mixture. Under the ethylene atmosphere (Initial total pressure is 100 kPa, equivalent ratio 0.5), a high-energy electric ignition device was used to carry out the direct initiation experiments on the coal-oxygen mixture under different coal particle equivalent ratios and apparent morphologies. The experimental results are as follows: after adding a small amount of 5PA coal particle(the two kinds of coal particle used in the experiment are recorded as PA and FA respectively. PA and FA are the abbreviations of porous anthracite and flaky anthracite respectively, such as 5 μm porous coal particle can be shortened to 5PA coal particle), the critical initiation energy of the ethylene/oxygen mixture decreases rapidly, reaching its minimum value of 2.53 J at the global equivalent ratio of 0.7, and the critical initiation energy of the coal/ethylene/oxygen mixture gradually increases as the equivalent ratio continues increasing. The critical initiation energy (5.20 J) of 5FA coal particle at the global equivalent ratio of 1.0 is higher than the critical initiation energy of 5PA(2.95 J). Under the ignition energy of 5.8 J, the 5PA coal particle and 5FA coal particle can be directly detonated in the range of global equivalent ratio 0.7−1.5. Under the ignition energy of 4.10 J, the 5PA coal particle can be directly detonated in the range of global equivalent ratio 0.7−1.5, but the 5FA coal particle can only be directly detonated at the global equivalent ratio of 0.7, and cannot be detonated after further increasing the global equivalent ratio. The research results show that, for lean fuel ethylene/oxygen(equivalent ratio less than 1), coal particle can promote the formation and self-sustaining propagation of the detonation wave within a certain mass concentration range of coal particle, but the high concentration of coal particle would inhibit the formation and self-sustaining propagation of the detonation wave. The apparent morphology of coal particle would affect the detonation initiation characteristics of coal particle mixture. Compared with the flaky coal particle, the porous coal particle has a higher chemical reaction rate leading to a lower critical initiation energy, so it is easier to be detonated.

Abstract Peach tree is one of the most important fruit trees in the world, and it has been cultivated for more than 7,500 years. In recent years, the genome and population resequencing of peach trees have been published continuously, which has effectively promoted the research of peach tree genetics and breeding. In order to promote the further mining and utilization of these data, we integrated and constructed a comprehensive peach genome and variation database (PPGV, http://peachtree.work/home ). The PPGV contains 10 sets of published peach tree genome data, as well as genomic variation information for 1,378 peach tree samples (the resequencing data of 1,378 samples were aligned with the high-quality genomes of Lovell, CN14 and Chinesecling, respectively, for mutation detection). A variety of useful and flexible tools, such as BLAST, Gene ID Convert, KEGG/GO Enrichment, Primer Design and Gene function, were also specially designed for searching data and assisting in breeding.

Abstract Dysfunction of pancreatic δ cells contributes to the etiology of diabetes. Despite their important role, human δ cells are scarce, limiting physiological studies and drug discovery targeting δ cells. To date, no directed δ-cell differentiation method has been established. Here, we demonstrate that fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 7 promotes pancreatic endoderm/progenitor differentiation, whereas FGF2 biases cells towards the pancreatic δ-cell lineage via FGF receptor 1. We develop a differentiation method to generate δ cells from human stem cells by combining FGF2 with FGF7, which synergistically directs pancreatic lineage differentiation and modulates the expression of transcription factors and SST activators during endoderm/endocrine precursor induction. These δ cells display mature RNA profiles and fine secretory granules, secrete somatostatin in response to various stimuli, and suppress insulin secretion from in vitro co-cultured β cells and mouse β cells upon transplantation. The generation of human pancreatic δ cells from stem cells in vitro would provide an unprecedented cell source for drug discovery and cell transplantation studies in diabetes.

Abstract The canonical non-homologous end joining (c-NHEJ) repair pathway, generally viewed as stochastic, has recently been shown to produce predictable outcomes in CRISPR-Cas9 mutagenesis. This predictability, mainly in 1-bp insertions and small deletions, has led to the development of in-silico prediction programs for various animal species. However, the predictability of CRISPR-induced mutation profiles across species remained elusive. Comparing CRISPR-Cas9 repair outcomes between human and plant species reveals significant differences in 1-bp insertion profiles. The high predictability observed in human cells links to the template-dependent activity of human Polλ. Yet plant Polλ exhibits dual activities, generating 1-bp insertions through both templated and non-templated manners. Polλ knockout in plants leads to deletion-only mutations, while its overexpression enhances 1-bp insertion rates. Two conserved motifs are identified to modulate plant Polλ‘s dual activities. These findings unveil the mechanism behind species-specific CRISPR-Cas9-induced insertion profiles and offer strategies for predictable, precise genome editing through c-NHEJ.

Abstract Aphidoletes aphidimyza is widely recognized as an effective predator of aphids in agricultural systems. However, there is limited understanding of its predation mechanisms. In this study, we generated a high-quality chromosome level of the A. aphidimyza genome by combining PacBio, Illumina, and Hi-C data. The genome has a size of 192.08 Mb, with a scaffold N50 size of 46.85 Mb, and 99.08% (190.35 Mb) of the assembly is located on four chromosomes. The BUSCO analysis of our assembly indicates a completeness of 97.8% (n = 1,367), including 1,307 (95.6%) single-copy BUSCOs and 30 (2.2%) duplicated BUSCOs. Additionally, we annotated a total of 13,073 protein-coding genes, 18.43% (35.40 Mb) repetitive elements, and 376 non-coding RNAs. Our study is the first time to report the chromosome-scale genome for the species of A. aphidimyza. It provides a valuable genomic resource for the molecular study of A. aphidimyza.

Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the effect of foraminoplasty using large-channel endoscopy during TESSYS on the biomechanics of the lumbar spine. Methods A complete lumbar spine model, M1, was built using 3D finite elements, and models M2 and M3 were constructed to simulate the intraoperative removal of the superior articular process of L5 using a trephine saw with diameters of 5 mm and 8.5 mm, respectively, and applying normal physiological loads on the different models to simulate six working conditions—anterior flexion, posterior extension, left-right lateral bending, and left-right rotation—to investigate the displacement and facet joint stress change of the surgical segment, and the disc stress change of the surgical and adjacent segments. Results Compared with the M1 model, the M2 and M3 models showed decreased stress at the L4-5 left FJ and a significant increase in stress at the right FJ in forward flexion. In the M2 and M3 models, the L4-5 FJ stresses were significantly greater in left lateral bending or left rotation than in right lateral bending or right rotation. The right FJ stress in M3 was greater during left rotation than that in M2, and that in M2 was greater than that in M1. The L4-5disc stress in the M3 model was greater during posterior extension than that in the M1 and M2 models. The L4-5disc stress in the M3 model was greater in the right rotation than in the M2 model, and that in the M2 model was greater than that in the M1 model. Conclusion Foraminoplasty using large-channel endoscopy could increase the stress on the FJ and disc of the surgical segment, which suggested unnecessary and excessive resection should be avoided in PTED to minimize biomechanical disruption.

Abstract The OVATE gene family plays an important role in regulating the development of plant organs and resisting stress, but its expression characteristics and functions in sorghum have not been revealed. In this study, we identified 26 OVATE genes in the sorghum BTx623 genome, which were divided into four groups and distributed unevenly across 9 chromosomes. Evolutionary analysis showed that after differentiation between sorghum and Arabidopsis, the OVATE gene family may have experienced unique expansion events, and all OVATE family members were negatively selected. Transcriptome sequencing and RT-qPCR results showed that OVATE genes in sorghum showed diverse expression characteristics, such as gene SORBl_3001G468900 and SORBl_3009G173400 were significantly expressed in seeds, while SORBI_3005G042700 and SORBI_3002G417700 were only highly expressed in L1. Meantime, in the promoter region, a large number of hormone-associated cis-acting elements were identified, and these results suggest that members of the OVATE gene family may be involved in regulating specific development of sorghum leaves and seeds. This study improves the understanding of the OVATE gene family of sorghum and provides important clues for further exploration of the function of the OVATE gene family.

Research on automation and intelligent operation of tunnel boring machine (TBM) is receiving more and more attention, benefiting from the increasing construction data. However, most studies on TBM operations optimization were trained by the labels of human drivers’ decisions, which were subjective and stochastic. As a result, the control parameters suggested by these models could hardly surpass the performance of a human driver, even the possibility of subjective incorrect decisions. Considering that the geomechanical feedback to TBM under drivers’ actions is objective, in this paper, a transformer-based model called the geological response for tunnel boring machine (GRTBM), is proposed to learn the relationship between operation-adjust and TBM monitoring changes. Additionally, with the model-based offline reinforcement learning, this paper provided a novel approach to optimizing the TBM excavation operations. The decision processes, recorded in the Yin-song TBM project for a waterway tunnel in Jilin Province of China, were used for the validation of the model. By adopting an implicit perception of geological conditions in the GRTBM model, the suggested method achieved the desired state within a single action, greatly outperformed the practical adjustments where 500 s were taken, revealing the fact that the proposed model has the potential to surpass the capability of human beings.

BackgroudAt present, there is no unified standard for the detection of glufosinate ammonium and three metabolites in urine, which affects the accurate assessment of occupational exposure risk to a certain extent. It is of great significance to establish a rapid and effective inspection method to ensure occupational safety and public health.ObjectiveTo establish an ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry for simultaneous determination of glufosinate ammonium and three metabolites in urine.MethodsThe effects of dilution solvents and dilution ratios on the response values of glufosinate ammonium and three metabolites were compared, and the retention capacities of solid phase extraction columns for targets as well as the effects of chromatographic columns and mobile phase systems on chromatographic peaks were analyzed. Samples were quantified by matrix effect matching external standard method. Accuracy of the method was evaluated by recovery rate of standard addition, and precision of the method was evaluated by relative standard deviation of intra-day and inter-day measurements. Urine samples of 30 health individuals were collected to evaluate the application of the method.ResultsThe urine samples were diluted with 0.2 mL water and 0.6 mL acetonitrile, purified by HLB solid phase extraction columns, and separated by Dikma Polyamino HILIC columns, and gradient elution was carried out with 0.5 mmol·L−1 ammonium acetate and 0.1% ammonia water as mobile phase, which achieved a good peak shape and mass spectrum response. The linearities of the four target compounds were good in the range of 0.5-50 ng·mL−1, and the correlation coefficients (r) were all greater than 0.998. The detection limits were 0.56-2.86 μg·L−1, the quantification limits were 1.87-29.54 μg·L−1, and the recovery rates of standard addition ranged from 75.0% to 103.6%, The relative standard deviations of intra-batch and inter-batch were from 2.5% to 8.1% and from 4.3% to 9.3% respectively. The method was applied to detect 30 urine samples of subjects, and no target was detected.ConclusionThe method is simple, rapid, sensitive, and accurate. It is suitable for the determination of glufosinate ammonium and its metabolites in human urine without derivatization.

Abstract Aims Surveys and research on the applications of the hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) are important for understanding the current status and future development of this technology in China. This article aimed to investigate the status of hepatic venous pressure gradient measurement in China in 2022. Methods We investigated the overall status of HVPG technology in China—including hospital distribution, hospital level, annual number of cases, catheters used, average cost, indications, and current challenges by using online questionnaire. By counting the number and percentages of cases of these results, we hope to clarify the current status of HVPG measurements in China. Results According to the survey, 85 hospitals in China used HVPG technology in 2022 distributed across 29 provinces. A total of 4989 HVPG measurements were performed in all of the surveyed hospitals in 2022, of which 2813 cases (56.4%) were measured alone. The average cost of HVPG measurement was 5646.8 ± 2327.9 CNY. Of the clinical teams who performed the measurements (sometimes multiple per hospital), 94.3% (82/87) used the balloon method, and the majority of the teams (72.4%, 63/87) used embolectomy catheters. Conclusions This survey clarified the clinical application status of HVPG in China and confirmed that some medical institutions in China have established a foundation for this technology. It is still necessary to continue promoting and popularizing this technology in the future.

Abstract Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) is an emerging public health burden with a high rate of disability and mortality. Gasdermin D (GSDMD) has been reported to exert pyroptosis and play a critical role in the pathophysiology of many cardiovascular diseases. We ought to determine the role of GSDMD in the regulation of perfusion recovery after hindlimb ischemia (HLI). Our study revealed that GSDMD-mediated pyroptosis occurred in HLI. GSDMD deletion aggravated perfusion recovery and angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo. However, how GSDMD regulates angiogenesis after ischemic injury remains unclear. We then found that GSDMD-mediated pyroptosis exerted the angiogenic capacity in macrophages rather than endothelial cells after HLI. GSDMD deletion led to a lower level of CCL11 in mice serum. GSDMD knockdown in macrophages downregulated the expression and decreased the releasing level of CCL11. Furthermore, recombinant CCL11 improved endothelial functions and angiogenesis, which was attenuated by CCL11 antibody. Taken together, these results demonstrate that GSDMD promotes angiogenesis by releasing CCL11, thereby improving blood flow perfusion recovery after hindlimb ischemic injury. Therefore, CCL11 may be a novel target for prevention and treatment of vascular ischemic diseases.

Abstract This study aimed to perform the first external validation of the modified Child-Turcotte-Pugh score based on plasma ammonia (aCTP) and compare it with other risk scoring systems to predict survival in patients with cirrhosis after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) placement. We retrospectively reviewed 473 patients from three cohorts between January 2016 and June 2022 and compared the aCTP score with the Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score, albumin-bilirubin (ALBI), model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) and sodium MELD (MELD-Na) in predicting transplant-free survival by the concordance index (C-index), area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration plot, and decision curve analysis (DCA) curve. The median follow-up time was 29 months, during which a total of 62 (20.74%) patients died or underwent liver transplantation. The survival curves for the three aCTP grades differed significantly. Abstract Background Immunoregulatory drugs regulate the ubiquitin-proteasome system, which is the main treatment for multiple myeloma (MM) at present. In this study, bioinformatics analysis was used to construct the risk model and evaluate the prognostic value of ubiquitination-related genes in MM. Methods and results The data on ubiquitination-related genes and MM samples were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases. The consistent cluster analysis and ESTIMATE algorithm were used to create distinct clusters. The MM prognostic risk model was constructed through single-factor and multiple-factor analysis. The ROC curve was plotted to compare the survival difference between high- and low-risk groups. The nomogram was used to validate the predictive capability of the risk model. A total of 87 ubiquitination-related genes were obtained, with 47 genes showing high expression in the MM group. According to the consistent cluster analysis, 4 clusters were determined. The immune infiltration, survival, and prognosis differed significantly among the 4 clusters. The tumor purity was higher in clusters 1 and 3 than in clusters 2 and 4, while the immune score and stromal score were lower in clusters 1 and 3. The proportion of B cells memory, plasma cells, and T cells CD4 naïve was the lowest in cluster 4. The model genes KLHL24, HERC6, USP3, TNIP1, and CISH were highly expressed in the high-risk group. AICAr and BMS.754,807 exhibited higher drug sensitivity in the low-risk group, whereas Bleomycin showed higher drug sensitivity in the high-risk group. The nomogram of the risk model demonstrated good efficacy in predicting the survival of MM patients using TCGA and GEO datasets. Conclusions The risk model constructed by ubiquitination-related genes can be effectively used to predict the prognosis of MM patients. KLHL24, HERC6, USP3, TNIP1, and CISH genes in MM warrant further investigation as therapeutic targets and to combat drug resistance.

Paratemnoides Harvey, 1991 is currently represented by 28 species and two subspecies, which are widespread in the world, except for Europe and Antarctica. Paratemnoides sinensis (Beier, 1932) represents the only species of this genus currently recorded from China.Five new Paratemnoides species collected from China are described, including detailed diagnoses and illustrations: P. guangdongensis sp. nov. from Guangdong, P. parvus sp. nov., P. politus sp. nov. and P. yunnanensis sp. nov. from Yunnan and P. trisulcus sp. nov. from Guangxi. An identification key to all known Paratemnoides species from China and a distribution map are also provided.

Abstract Eukaryotic retroelements are generally divided into two classes: long terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposons and non-LTR retrotransposons. A third class of eukaryotic retroelement, the Penelope-like elements (PLEs), has been well-characterized bioinformatically, but relatively little is known about the transposition mechanism of these elements. PLEs share some features with the R2 retrotransposon from Bombyx mori, which uses a target-primed reverse transcription (TPRT) mechanism, but their distinct phylogeny suggests PLEs may utilize a novel mechanism of mobilization. Using protein purified from E. coli, we report unique in vitro properties of a PLE from the green anole (Anolis carolinensis), revealing mechanistic aspects not shared by other retrotransposons. We found that reverse transcription is initiated at two adjacent sites within the transposon RNA that is not homologous to the cleaved DNA, a feature that is reflected in the genomic “tail” signature shared between and unique to PLEs. Our results for the first active PLE in vitro provide a starting point for understanding PLE mobilization and biology.

Two new schizomid species belonging to Bamazomus Harvey, 1992 are described from China: B. shanghang sp. nov. (♂♀) from Fujian Province and B. songi sp. nov. (♂♀) from Guangdong Province. In addition to their descriptions, illustrations and diagnoses, a distribution map is provided. These are first Bamazomus species from the mainland China and the northernmost in continental Asia.

Abstract The potential for off-target mutations is a critical concern for the therapeutic application of CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing. Current detection methodologies, such as GUIDE-seq, exhibit limitations in oligonucleotide integration efficiency and sensitivity, which could hinder their utility in clinical settings. To address these issues, we introduce OliTag-seq, an in-cellulo assay specifically engineered to enhance the detection of off-target events. OliTag-seq employs a stable oligonucleotide for precise break tagging and an innovative triple-priming amplification strategy, significantly improving the scope and accuracy of off-target site identification. This method surpasses traditional assays by providing comprehensive coverage across various sgRNAs and genomic targets. Our research particularly highlights the superior sensitivity of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) in detecting off-target mutations, advocating for using patient-derived iPSCs for refined off-target analysis in therapeutic gene editing. Furthermore, we provide evidence that prolonged Cas9 expression and transient HDAC inhibitor treatments enhance the assay’s ability to uncover off-target events. OliTag-seq merges the high sensitivity typical of in vitro assays with the practical application of cellular contexts. This approach significantly improves the safety and efficacy profiles of CRISPR-Cas9 interventions in research and clinical environments, positioning it as an essential tool for the precise assessment and refinement of genome editing applications.

Abstract Background ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex, is thought to play a significant role both in tumor suppression and tumor initiation, which is highly dependent upon context. Previous studies have suggested that ARID1A deficiency may contribute to cancer development. The specific mechanisms of whether ARID1A loss affects tumorigenesis by RNA editing remain unclear. Results Our findings indicate that the deficiency of ARID1A leads to an increase in RNA editing levels and alterations in RNA editing categories mediated by adenosine deaminases acting on RNA 1 (ADAR1). ADAR1 edits the CDK13 gene at two previously unidentified sites, namely Q113R and K117R. Given the crucial role of CDK13 as a cyclin-dependent kinase, we further observed that ADAR1 deficiency results in changes in the cell cycle. Importantly, the sensitivity of ARID1A-deficient tumor cells to SR-4835, a CDK12/CDK13 inhibitor, suggests a promising therapeutic approach for individuals with ARID1A-mutant tumors. Knockdown of ADAR1 restored the sensitivity of ARID1A deficient cells to SR-4835 treatment. Conclusions ARID1A deficiency promotes RNA editing of CDK13 by regulating ADAR1.

Abstract Background Pulmonary function is very important for the healthy development of children and adolescents. However, fewer studies have been conducted on pulmonary function trends in children and adolescents in remote areas. The aim of this study was to estimate the forced vital capacity (FVC) trend and its relationship with body mass index (BMI) among young people in Xinjiang during 1985–2014 using data from seven successive national surveys. Methods A total of 19,449 Xinjiang children and adolescents aged 7–18 years were extracted from the Chinese National Survey on Students’ Constitution and Health. Height, weight, and FVC were measured repeatedly in each survey. FVC comparisons between adjacent surveys by age and sex were conducted by nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis after Kolmogorov-Smirnov of normality. One-way ANOVA and least significant difference(LSD) method was used to compare differences in FVC levels of Xinjiang children and adolescents with different BMI. The relationship between BMI and FVC was investigated using a nonlinear regression model. Results The FVC levels of Xinjiang children and adolescents peaked in 2000, with overall FVC levels being 8.7% higher in 2000 than in 1985. Since then, a substantial decline occurred, contrasting to 2000, with FVC levels decreasing by 27% in 2014, which was still lower than that in 1985 by 20.73%. The proportion of overnutrition boys increased from 0.2% in 1985 to 22.1% in 2014, and girls from 0.5% in 1985 to 14.5% in 2014. An inverted U-shape association between FVC and BMI values was obtained for Xinjiang children and adolescents. Conclusions Targeted measures should be carried out in schools to control BMI levels to ensure good lung function in children and adolescents in Xinjiang. Future studies should pay more attention to other factors affecting FVC, such as dietary behaviour, physical activity, and racial differences among children and adolescents.

The species of the genus Karschia Walter, 1889, collected from Xizang, China, were reviewed. A total of six species were recognized using morphological and molecular data, Karschia (Karschia) tibetana Hirst, 1907 is redescribed based on newly collected males and females, and five new species, Karschia (Karschia) dingye sp. nov., Karschia (Karschia) lhasa sp. nov., Karschia (Karschia) zhui sp. nov., Karschia (Karschia) shigatse sp. nov., and Karschia (Karschia) namling sp. nov., are described.

Three new species of the genus Stenohya Beier, 1967 from China are described: Stenohya gibba sp. nov. and S. papillata sp. nov. from Hunan Province, and S. guangmingensis sp. nov. from Jiangxi Province. In addition to their sexually dimorphic pedipalp, these three new species also have a uniquely sexual dimorphic leg I, which has not been reported in other Stenohya species. Additionally, an updated key to the Chinese Stenohya species is provided.

Three new pseudoscorpions in the family Pseudotyrannochthoniidae are described from China: Allochthonius hispidus sp. nov. from Chongqing (Wushan County), Spelaeochthonius huanglaoensis sp. nov. from Beijing (Fangshan District), and Spelaeochthonius tuoliangensis sp. nov. from Hebei (Pingshan County). Detailed diagnoses and illustrations of all new species are provided.

Aims: To assess the alterations in cell-specific DNA methylation associated with chondroitin sulphate response using peripheral blood collected from Kashin-Beck disease (KBD) patients before initiation of chondroitin sulphate treatment. Methods: Peripheral blood samples were collected from KBD patients at baseline of chondroitin sulphate treatment. Methylation profiles were generated using reduced representation bisulphite sequencing (RRBS) from peripheral blood. Differentially methylated regions (DMRs) were identified using MethylKit, while DMR-related genes were defined as those annotated to the gene body or 2.2-kilobase upstream regions of DMRs. Selected DMR-related genes were further validated by quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to assess expression levels. Tensor composition analysis was performed to identify cell-specific differential DNA methylation from bulk tissue. Results: This study revealed 21,060 hypermethylated and 44,472 hypomethylated DMRs, and 13,194 hypermethylated and 22,448 hypomethylated CpG islands for differential global methylation for chondroitin sulphate treatment response. A total of 12,666 DMR-related genes containing DMRs were identified in their promoter regions, such as CHL1 (false discovery rate (FDR) = 2.11 × 10-11), RIC8A (FDR = 7.05 × 10-4), and SOX12 (FDR = 1.43 × 10-3). Additionally, RIC8A and CHL1 were hypermethylated in responders, while SOX12 was hypomethylated in responders, all showing decreased gene expression. The patterns of cell-specific differential global methylation associated with chondroitin sulphate response were observed. Specifically, we found that DMRs located in TESPA1 and ATP11A exhibited differential DNA methylation between responders and non-responders in granulocytes, monocytes, and B cells. The family Trechaleidae Simon, 1890 is reported for the first time from China, including one new species: Shinobius cona sp. nov. (♂♀). Morphological descriptions, photos and illustrations of the new species are provided. Taxonomic features of species belonging to the genus are briefly discussed. Photos of the female of Shinobius orientalis (Yaginuma, 1967) are also presented to compare it with the new species.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to identify candidate loci and genes related to sleep disturbances in depressed individuals and clarify the co-occurrence of sleep disturbances and depression from the genetic perspective. Methods The study subjects (including 58,256 self-reported depressed individuals and 6,576 participants with PHQ-9 score ≥ 10, respectively) were collected from the UK Biobank, which were determined based on the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and self-reported depression status, respectively. Sleep related traits included chronotype, insomnia, snoring and daytime dozing. Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of sleep related traits in depressed individuals were conducted by PLINK 2.0 adjusting age, sex, Townsend deprivation index and 10 principal components as covariates. The CAUSALdb database was used to explore the mental traits associated with the candidate genes identified by the GWAS. Results GWAS detected 15 loci significantly associated with chronotype in the subjects with self-reported depression, such as rs12736689 at RNASEL (P = 1.00 × 10− 09), rs509476 at RGS16 (P = 1.58 × 10− 09) and rs1006751 at RFX4 (P = 1.54 × 10− 08). 9 candidate loci were identified in the subjects with PHQ-9 ≥ 10, of which 2 loci were associated with insomnia such as rs115379847 at EVC2 (P = 3.50 × 10− 08), and 7 loci were associated with daytime dozing, such as rs140876133 at SMYD3 (P = 3.88 × 10− 08) and rs139156969 at ROBO2 (P = 3.58 × 10− 08). Multiple identified genes, such as RNASEL, RGS16, RFX4 and ROBO2 were reported to be associated with chronotype, depression or cognition in previous studies. Conclusion Our study identified several candidate genes related to sleep disturbances in depressed individuals, which provided new clues for understanding the biological mechanism underlying the co-occurrence of depression and sleep disorders.

Abstract As a typical E3 ligase, TRIM65 (tripartite motif containing 65) is involved in the regulation of antiviral innate immunity and the pathogenesis of certain tumors. However, the role of TRIM65 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and the underlying mechanism has not been determined yet. In this study, we identified TRIM65 as a novel oncogene in RCC, which enhanced the tumor cell proliferation and anchorage-independent growth abilities both in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, we found that TRIM65-regulated RCC proliferation mainly via direct interaction with BTG3 (BTG anti-proliferation factor 3), which in turn induced the K48-linked ubiquitination and subsequent degradation through K41 amino acid. Furthermore, TRIM65 relieved G2/M phase cell cycle arrest via degradation of BTG3 and regulated downstream factors. Further studies revealed that TRIM65 acts through TRIM65-BTG3-CyclinD1 axis and clinical sample IHC chip data indicated a negative correction between TRIM65 and BTG3. Taken together, our findings demonstrated that TRIM65 promotes RCC cell proliferation via regulation of the cell cycle through degradation of BTG3, suggesting that TRIM65 may be a promising target for RCC therapy.

The grid-based multi-velocity field technique has become increasingly popular for simulating the Material Point Method (MPM) in contact problems. However, this traditional technique has some shortcomings, such as (1) early contact and contact penetration can occur when the contact conditions are unsuitable, and (2) the method is not available for contact problems involving rigid-nonrigid materials, which can cause numerical instability. This study presents a new hybrid contact approach for the MPM to address these limitations to simulate the soil and structure interactions. The approach combines the advantages of point-point and point-segment contacts to implement contact detection, satisfying the impenetrability condition and smoothing the corner contact problem. The proposed approach is first validated through a disk test on an inclined slope. Then, several typical cases, such as granular collapse, bearing capacity, and deformation of a flexible retaining wall, are simulated to demonstrate the robustness of the proposed approach compared with FEM or analytical solutions. Finally, the proposed method is used to simulate the impact of sand flow on a deformable structure. The results show that the proposed contact approach can well describe the phenomenon of soil-structure interaction problems.

Abstract Background Karst caves serve as natural laboratories, providing organisms with extreme and constant conditions that promote isolation, resulting in a genetic relationship and living environment that is significantly different from those outside the cave. However, research on cave creatures, especially Opiliones, remains scarce, with most studies focused on water, soil, and cave sediments. Results The structure of symbiotic bacteria in different caves were compared, revealing significant differences. Based on the alpha and beta diversity, symbiotic bacteria abundance and diversity in the cave were similar, but the structure of symbiotic bacteria differed inside and outside the cave. Microorganisms in the cave play an important role in material cycling and energy flow, particularly in the nitrogen cycle. Although microbial diversity varies inside and outside the cave, Opiliones in Beijing caves and Hainan Island exhibited a strong similarity, indicating that the two environments share commonalities. Conclusions The karst cave environment possesses high microbial diversity and there are noticeable differences among different caves. Different habitats lead to significant differences in the symbiotic bacteria in Opiliones inside and outside the cave, and cave microorganisms have made efforts to adapt to extreme environments. The similarity in symbiotic bacteria community structure suggests a potential similarity in host environments, providing an explanation for the appearance of Sinonychia martensi in caves in the north.

Two species of the long-legged sac spider genus Cheiracanthium C. L. Koch, 1839 collected from China are diagnosed and described as new to science: Cheiracanthium bannaensis sp. nov. (♂♀) from Yunnan Province and C. bifurcatum sp. nov. (♂♀) from Xinjiang Uyger Autonomous Region. Photos of the habitus and copulatory organs are given. In addition, DNA barcode information of the two new species is provided.

Abstract Due to their responsiveness to modulation by external direct current fields, dielectric tunable materials are extensively utilized in integrated components, such as ferroelectric phase shifters. Barium strontium titanate ceramics have been considered the most potential tunable materials for a long time. However, the significant dielectric loss and high voltage drive have limited their further applications. Recently, Bi6Ti5WO22 ceramic has regained attention for its high dielectric tunability with low loss. In this study, we judiciously introduce Nb5+ with a larger ionic radius, replacing Ti4+ and W6+. This successful substitution enables the modulation of the phase transition temperature of Bi6Ti5WO22 ceramics to room temperature, resulting in superior tunable properties. Specifically, the 0.7Bi6Ti5WO22−0.3Bi6Ti4Nb2O22 ceramics exhibit giant tunability (~75.6%) with ultralow loss (

Objective: We aimed to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) in the treatment of ischemic stroke. Methods: Six Chinese and English databases were searched for related randomized controlled trials from the establishment of the databases to 28 February 2023. Two investigators performed screening and a comprehensive analysis and evaluated the quality of the studies. They extracted information from the included studies, and managed and analzsed the data using RevMan 5.4.1 software (The First College of Clinical Medical Science, China Three Gorges University). Finally, they performed meta and heterogeneity analyses and created a risk-of-bias map. Results: A total of 13 high-quality articles were included. The National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores of the experimental group differed significantly from those of the control group at 3 months (I2 50%, MD = 15.94, P < 0.001), 3 months (I2 >50%, MD = 12.71, P < 0.001), and 6 months (I2 >50%, MD = 13.76, P < 0.001) after treatment, and the overall difference (I2 >50%, MD = 14.38, P ≤ 0.001) was significant. The functional independence measure (FIM) scores were significantly different from that of the control group at 1 month (I2 >50%, MD = 20.04, P = 0.02), 3 months (I2 >50%, MD = 15.51, P < 0.001), and 6 months (I2 >50%, MD = 13.46, P = 0.03). There was no significant increase in adverse events compared with the traditional treatment regimen. Conclusion: To some extent, BMMSC transplantation can improve the neurological deficit, motor function, and daily living ability of patients with ischemic stroke.

Five new Lagynochthonius species of the pseudoscorpion family Chthoniidae are described, based on morphological characters: Lagynochthonius duo sp. nov., Lagynochthonius gibbus sp. nov., Lagynochthonius hepingensis sp. nov., Lagynochthonius houi sp. nov., and Lagynochthonius sanhuaensis sp. nov. All specimens were collected from epigean habitats in southern China.

Abstract A kind of all‐dielectric circularly polarised (CP) loop antenna made of high‐permittivity material is proposed. The leaky‐wave radiation from a high‐permittivity dielectric waveguide is utilised here to support the operation of the proposed antenna. A non‐closed dielectric loop covering a three‐quarter circle is adopted to generate CP radiation and it is connected with the dielectric ground via one of bending ends to form an all‐in‐one structure of the antenna. The other end is also bent and vertical to the ground, but hanging in the air for probe feed. As two kinds of typical high‐permittivity dielectric materials, zirconia ceramic and pure water are used to implement the proposed design respectively. On one hand, an all‐ceramic CP loop antenna made of zirconia is proposed. And benefiting from the low loss and high melting point of zirconia, the proposed ceramic antenna has superiority in radiation efficiency and could adapt to a harsh environment. On the other hand, by using pure water and transparent container, a fully‐transparent CP water loop antenna can be obtained. Finally, a 3‐D printing technology is adopted in the manufacturing of ceramic structure and resin container. Measured results of both antennas demonstrate the validity of the proposed design.

The hoffi species-group previously comprised only two species, Lechytia hoffi Muchmore, 1975 and Lechytia yulongensis Zhang and Zhang, 2014, of which L. yulongensis is distributed in China.Three species of the genus Lechytia are described from China: Lechytia acutidentata sp. nov. and Lechytia depressidentata sp. nov. from Xizang Autonomous Region and L. yulongensis from Yunnan Province. The female of L. yulongensis is reported for the first time. In addition, a key to the hoffi species-group is provided.

Abstract Background Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disease leading to maternal and perinatal morbidity. Hypertension and inflammation are the main characteristics of preeclampsia. Many factors can lead to hypertension and inflammation, including gut microbiota which plays an important role in hypertension and inflammation in humans. However, alterations to the gut microbiome and fecal metabolome, and their relationships in severe preeclampsia are not well known. This study aims to identify biomarkers significantly associated with severe preeclampsia and provide a knowledge base for treatments regulating the gut microbiome. Methods In this study, fecal samples were collected from individuals with severe preeclampsia and healthy controls for shotgun metagenomic sequencing to evaluate changes in gut microbiota composition. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis was used to validate the reliability of our shotgun metagenomic sequencing results. Additionally, untargeted metabolomics analysis was performed to measure fecal metabolome concentrations. Results We identified several Lactobacillaceae that were significantly enriched in the gut of healthy controls, including Limosilactobacillus fermentum, the key biomarker distinguishing severe preeclampsia from healthy controls. Limosilactobacillus fermentum was significantly associated with shifts in KEGG Orthology (KO) genes and KEGG pathways of the gut microbiome in severe preeclampsia, such as flagellar assembly. Untargeted fecal metabolome analysis found that severe preeclampsia had higher concentrations of Phenylpropanoate and Agmatine. Increased concentrations of Phenylpropanoate and Agmatine were associated with the abundance of Limosilactobacillus fermentum. Furthermore, all metabolites with higher abundances in healthy controls were enriched in the arginine and proline metabolism pathway. Conclusion Our research indicates that changes in metabolites, possibly due to the gut microbe Limosilactobacillus fermentum, can contribute to the development of severe preeclampsia. This study provides insights into the interaction between gut microbiome and fecal metabolites and offers a basis for improving severe preeclampsia by modulating the gut microbiome.
