To accurately predict the synthesis cross-sections of superheavy elements, identifying the optimal projectile-target combinations and the evaporation channels at specific collision energies, we have attempted to utilize high-quality microscopic nuclear masses (HQMNM) within the dinuclear system (DNS) model, which are obtained by fitting experimental data with the Skyrme energy density functional theory (DFT), as published in Phys. Lett. B 851 (2024) 138578. The atomic nuclear mass serves as a crucial input for the DNS model, as the Q-values and separation energies it generates directly influence the calculated fusion and survival probabilities. Our calculations have reproduced the experimental data for hot fusion and have been compared with results based on the finite-range droplet model (FRDM12) mass calculations. Compared to the FRDM12 mass results, we have found that the HQMNM provides a better fit to the experimental outcomes. For the specific reaction of \(^{48}\rm{Ca} + ^{243}\rm{Am} \rightarrow ^{291}\rm{Mc}^*\), we have conducted a detailed calculation of capture, fusion, and survival based on the HQMNM model and compared these with calculations based on other mass models. Based on these findings, we have systematically calculated available projectile target combinations for the synthesis of elements 119 and 120, and identified the optimal combinations. To assess the potential of cold-fusion for synthesizing superheavy nuclei (SHN) with proton numbers 104-113, we systematically calculated 145 naturally occurring projectile-target combinations within the DNS model. Reactions predominantly show maximum cross-sections in the 1n to 2n channels, peaking near the Coulomb barrier with a sum of barrier and Q-value within 30 MeV. The maximum cross-section occurs below the Bass barrier, suggesting either the Bass model's limitation or significant deformation reducing the effective Coulomb barrier. Our calculations align well with experimental data, revealing that more neutron-rich projectiles slightly enhance fusion, though the effect is minor. For fixed targets (Pb, Bi), evaporation residue cross-sections decrease linearly with increasing projectile proton number, attributed to reduced fusion probability and lower fission barriers in heavier SHN. The touching potential $V_{\rm in}$ shows a linear trend with the product of projectile-target proton numbers, with neutron-rich systems exhibiting lower $V_{\rm in}$. Some reactions with $V_{\rm in} < V_{\rm S}$ may involve nucleon transfer before capture. Based on the DNS model, we identified optimal combinations and collision energies for synthesizing SHN with significant cross-sections. Collectively, our findings indicate that cold fusion is a promising avenue for creating proton-rich SHN around the drip line in the Z=104-113 region, offering distinct advantages over alternative mechanisms., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, this study delves into the impact of various nuclear mass models on evaluating the fusion probability of superheavy nuclei. Nuclear mass models, as crucial inputs to the DNS model, exhibit slight variations in binding energy, quadrupole deformation, and extrapolation ability; these subtle differences can significantly influence the model's outcomes. Specifically, the study finds that nuclear mass plays a pivotal role in determining fusion probability, and Q-value. By numerically solving a set of master equations, the study examines how binding energies from different mass models affect the fusion probability of colliding nuclei, taking the example of $^{48}$Ca + $^{243}$Am $\rightarrow$ $^{291}$Mc. A careful analysis of the potential energy surface (PES) reveals that the inner fusion barriers lead to variations in fusion probabilities. Importantly, the study demonstrates that the synthesis cross sections of superheavy nuclei calculated using different nuclear mass models align well with experimental data, falling within an error range of one order of magnitude. This finding underscores the reliability of our model predictions. Looking ahead, the study utilizes five distinct nuclear mass models to predict the synthesis cross sections of superheavy elements 119 and 120, along with their associated uncertainties. These predictions offer valuable insights into the feasibility of synthesizing these elusive elements and pave the way for future experimental explorations.

The breaking of SU(6) symmetry to a more general flavor SU(3) symmetry could serve as a potential explanation for the "hyperon puzzle" of neutron stars by adjusting the hyperon potentials. Specifically, when the soft relativistic mean-field (RMF) $\Lambda$ hyperon potentials fall within the domains of chiral SU(3) interactions NLO13 with two-body forces, the maximum mass of neutron stars is expected to be lower than 2.0 $M_\odot$, whereas it can exceed $2.0M_\odot$ if the RMF $\Lambda$ hyperon potentials are sufficiently stiff to be consistent with those from chiral SU(3) interactions NLO13 with three-body forces. In our investigation involving these two types of $\Lambda$ hyperon potentials, we explore how the hyperon yields and flows are affected in heavy-ion collisions. We find that the inclusion of hyperon potentials results in better agreement of the $\Lambda$ directed flows with data but without clear differentiation in the stiffness of the hyperon potentials. Similarly negligent is the disparity in the rapidity distributions of the $\Lambda$ collective flows predicted by the stiff and soft hyperon potentials. In contrast, the $\Lambda$ collective flows beyond the central rapidity region turn out to be sensitive to the stiffness of the RMF equation of state (EOS) with the preference of a soft RMF EOS to a stiff one. Notably, the transverse momentum distributions of $\Lambda$ hyperon production are sensitive to both the stiffness of the RMF EOS and $\Lambda$ hyperon potential at high transverse momenta., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures

Within the TMEP, we present a detailed study of the performance of different transport models in Sn+Sn collisions at $270A$ MeV, and put particular emphasis on the production of pions and $\Delta$ resonances, which have been used as probes of the nuclear symmetry energy. We prescribe a common and rather simple physics model, and follow in detail the results of 4 BUU models and 6 QMD models. The nucleonic evolution of the collision and the nucleonic observables in these codes do not completely converge, but the differences among the codes can be understood as being due to several reasons: the basic differences between BUU and QMD models in the representation of the phase-space distributions, computational differences in the mean-field evaluation, and differences in the adopted strategies for the Pauli blocking in the collision integrals. For pionic observables, we find that a higher maximum density leads to an enhanced pion yield and a reduced $\pi^-/\pi^+$ yield ratio, while a more effective Pauli blocking generally leads to a slightly suppressed pion yield and an enhanced $\pi^-/\pi^+$ yield ratio. We specifically investigate the effect of the Coulomb force, and find that it increases the total $\pi^-/\pi^+$ yield ratio but reduces the ratio at high pion energies, although differences in its implementations do not have a dominating role in the differences among the codes. Taking into account only the results of codes that strictly follow the homework specifications, we find a convergence of the codes in the final charged pion yield ratio to a $1\sigma$ deviation of about $5\%$. However, the uncertainty is expected to be reduced to about $1.6\%$ if the same or similar strategies and ingredients, i.e., an improved Pauli blocking and calculation of the non-linear term in the mean-field potential, are similarly used in all codes., Comment: 39 pages, 17 figures

The issue of cluster production in heavy-ion collisions is addressed in a new manner, by implementing cluster correlation into the quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) transport model. We demonstrate for the first time, the good potentialities of this popular transport approach in the description of light cluster production including the deuteron, triton, $^{3}$He and $\alpha$ particle in heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies. Both the INDRA and FOPI experimental data of the total multiplicities of light clusters and the charge distributions of heavier fragments are reasonably reproduced by the unified approach. The cluster transfer in multinucleon transfer reactions near Coulomb barrier energies is implemented into the master equations in dinuclear system model, in which the deuteron, triton, $^{3}$He and $\alpha$ are taken into account. The effects of cluster transfer and dynamical deformation on the formation of primary and secondary fragments are systematically investigated. It is found that the inclusion of cluster transfer is favorable the fragment formation with increasing the transferring nucleons and leads to a broad mass distribution. The isotopic cross sections of elements W, Os, Rn and Fr in the reaction of $^{136}$Xe+$^{208}$Pb at the incident energy of E$_{c.m.}$ = 450 MeV are nicely consistent with the Argonne data. The new neutron-rich isotopes of wolfram and osmium are predicted with cross sections above 10 nb. The production mechanism of neutron-rich heavy nuclei around N = 126 in the reactions of $^{58,64,72}$Ni + $^{198}$Pt is investigated thoroughly. Within the framework of the quantum molecular dynamics transport model, the collective flows of clusters and pions in heavy-ion collisions have been systematically investigated. The clusters are recognized by the Wigner phase-space density approach at the stage of freeze out in nuclear collisions, i.e., deuteron, triton, $^{3}$He and $\alpha$. The directed and elliptic flows of protons and deuterons in the reaction of $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au at incident energy 1.23\emph{A} GeV are nicely consistent with the recent HADES data. The higher order collective flows, i.e., triangular and quadrangle flows, manifest the opposite trends with the less amplitude in comparison with the rapidity distributions of directed and elliptic flows. The flow structure of $^{3}$He and $\alpha$ is very similar to the proton spectra. The influence of the pion potential on the pion production is systematically investigated and compared with the FOPI data via the transverse momentum, longitudinal rapidity and collective flows in collisions of $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au. It is manifested that the pion yields are slightly suppressed in the domain of mid-rapidity and high momentum. The hyperon dynamics in heavy-ion collisions near threshold energy has been investigated within the quantum molecular dynamics transport model. The isospin and momentum dependent hyperon-nucleon potential and the threshold energy correction on the hyperon elementary cross section are included in the model. It is found that the high-density symmetry energy is dependent on the isospin ratios $\Sigma^{-}/\Sigma^{+}$ and $\Xi^{-}/\Xi^{0}$, in particular in the domain of high kinetic energies. The isospin diffusion in heavy-ion collisions influences the neutron/proton ratio in the high-density region. The $\Sigma^{-}/\Sigma^{+}$ ratio depends on the stiffness of symmetry energy, in particular at the beam energy below the threshold value (E$_{th}$=1.58 GeV), i.e., the kinetic energy spectra of the single ratios, excitation functions and energy spectra of the double ratios in the isotopic reactions of $^{108}$Sn + $^{112}$Sn, $^{112}$Sn + $^{112}$Sn, $^{124}$Sn + $^{124}$Sn and $^{132}$Sn + $^{124}$Sn. The double strangeness ratio $\Xi^{-}/\Xi^{0}$ weakly depends on the symmetry energy because of the hyperon-hyperon collision mainly contributing the $\Xi$ production below the threshold energy (E$_{th}$ = 3.72 GeV)., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

The relativistic mean field approach by distinguishing \com{the slope of symmetry energy} is implemented into the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics transport model (LQMD.RMF). The collective flows in the isotopic nuclear reactions are systematically investigated by the relativistic quantum molecular dynamics model \com{with various slopes of symmetry energy}. The structure of the directed and elliptic flows is consistent with the results of the nonrelativistic transportation of nucleon system. \com{The directed flow difference between free neutrons and protons appears in the midrapidity region. The transverse momentum spectra of $\pi^+$ production is close to each other in the nearly symmetric $^{108}\mathrm{Sn} + ^{112}\mathrm{Sn}$ system and the neutron-rich $^{132}\mathrm{Sn} + ^{124}\mathrm{Sn}$ system. However, since there are more neutron-neutron scatterings in neutron-rich system, the transverse momentum spectra of $\pi^-$ production in the neutron-rich system are higher than one in the nearly symmetric system. For a given reaction system, the transverse momentum spectra of $\pi^+$ and $\pi^-$ production are independent on the stiffness of symmetry energy. This leads to the fact that the single ratio and the double ratio are independent on the stiffness of symmetry energy. Moreover, the double ratio without the $\pi$-nucleon potential decreases with increasing the transverse momentum. Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, the preequilibrium emission of neutron, proton, deuteron, triton, $^{3}$He, $\alpha$, $^{6}$Li, $^{7}$Li, $^{8}$Be and $^{9}$Be in the transfer reactions of $^{12}$C + $^{209}$Bi, $^{40,48}$Ca+$^{238}$U, $^{238}$U+$^{238}$U and $^{238}$U+$^{248}$Cm has been systematically investigated. The production rate, kinetic energy spectra and emission angular distribution are calculated. It is found that the preequilibrium emission mechanism is associated with the reaction system and beam energy. The preequilibrium cross sections of proton, deuteron, triton and alpha are comparable in magnitude. The reaction with $^{40}$Ca is favorable for the cluster emission in comparison with $^{48}$Ca on $^{238}$U at the near barrier energy. A broad angular distribution of the preequilibrium cluster is found in the heavy systems $^{238}$U+$^{238}$U and $^{238}$U+$^{248}$Cm., Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures

Within the framework of the quantum molecular dynamics transport model, the pion production and constraint of the high-density symmetry energy in heavy-ion collisions near threshold energy have been thoroughly investigated. The energy conservation in the decay of resonances and reabsorption of pions as well as in the inelastic nucleon-nucleon and nucleon-resonance collisions are taken into account. The isospin diffusion in the low-density region (0.2$\rho_{0}$ - 0.8$\rho_{0}$) and high-density region (1.2$\rho_{0}$ - 1.8$\rho_{0}$) is investigated by analyzing the spectra of neutron/proton and $\pi^{-}/\pi^{+}$ ratios in the isotopic reactions of $^{132}$Sn + $^{124}$Sn and $^{108}$Sn + $^{112}$Sn at the incident energy of 270 MeV/nucleon, in which the symmetry energy manifests the opposite effect in the different density domain. The controversial conclusion of the $\pi^{-}/\pi^{+}$ ratio for constraining the high-density symmetry energy by different transport models with the FOPI data has been clarified. A soft symmetry energy with the slope parameter of $L(\rho_{0}) = 42\pm 25$ MeV by using the standard error analysis within the range of $1\sigma$ is obtained by analyzing the experimental data from the S$\pi$RIT collaboration. The neutron stars with the maximal mass of 2 $M_{\odot}$ and radius of 11-13 km are obtained with the constrained symmetry energy., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures

We have calculated production cross sections of new superheavy elements with atomic number Z=119,120 in the fusion-evaporation reactions of $^{48}$Ca+$^{252}$Es, $^{48}$Ca+$^{257}$Fm, $^{49}$Sc+$^{252}$Es, $^{49}$Sc+$^{251}$Cf, $^{50}$Ti+$^{247}$Bk, $^{50}$Ti+$^{251}$Cf, $^{51}$V+$^{247}$Cm, $^{51}$V+$^{247}$Cf, $^{54}$Cr+$^{243}$Am, $^{54}$Cr+$^{247}$Cm, $^{56}$Mn+$^{244}$Pu, $^{56}$Mn+$^{243}$Am, $^{60}$Fe+$^{237}$Np, $^{60}$Fe+$^{244}$Pu, $^{61}$Co+$^{238}$U, $^{61}$Co+$^{237}$Np, $^{64}$Ni+$^{231}$Pa, $^{64}$Ni+$^{238}$U, $^{65}$Cu+$^{232}$Th, $^{65}$Cu+$^{231}$Pa, and $^{68}$Zn+$^{232}$Th within the dinuclear system model systematically. The inner fusion barriers have been extracted from the driving potential or potential energy surface which could be used to predict the relative fusion probability roughly. The influence of mass asymmetry of the colliding partners on the production of new superheavy elements (SHE) has been investigated systematically. It is found that fusion probability increase along with the increasing mass asymmetry of colliding systems. The Ti-induced reactions have the largest cross-sections of the new SHE. The dependence of production cross-sections of new superheavy elements on the isospin of projectile nuclei has been discussed. The new SHE of $^{289-295}$119 has been predicted as the synthesis cross sections around serval picobarns in the $^{46,48,50,52}$Ti-induced reactions. Production cross-section of the element of $^{295}$120 has been evaluated as large as 1 picobarn in the reactions $^{46}$Ti ($^{251}$Cf, 2n) $^{295}$120 at $E^*$ = 26 MeV. In the framework of the dinuclear system model, the synthesis mechanism of the superheavy nuclides with atomic number $Z=112, 114, 115$ in the reactions of projectiles $^{40,48}$Ca bombarding on targets $^{238}$U, $^{242}$Pu, and $^{243}$Am at a wide incident energies (excitation energy from 0-100 MeV) have been investigated systematically. Based on the available experimental excitation functions, the dependence of calculated synthesis cross sections on collision orientations has been studied thoroughly. The TKEs of these collisions with the fixed collision orientation show its orientation dependence which can be used to predict the tendency of kinetic energy diffusion. The TKEs are dependent on incident energies which have been discussed. The method of Coulomb barrier distribution function has been applied in our calculations which could treat all of the collision orientations from the tip-tip to side-side approximately. The calculations of excitation functions of $^{48}$Ca + $^{238}$U, $^{48}$Ca + $^{242}$Pu, and $^{48}$Ca + $^{243}$Am have a nice agreement with the available experimental data. The isospin effect of projectiles on production cross sections of moscovium isotopes and the influence of entrance channel effect on the synthesis cross sections of superheavy nuclei have been discussed. The synthesis cross section of new moscovium isotopes $^{278-286}$Mc have been predicted as large as hundreds pb, in the fusion-evaporation reactions of $^{35,37}$Cl + $^{248}$Cf, $^{38,40}$Ar + $^{247}$Bk, $^{39,41}$K + $^{247}$Cm, $^{40,42,44,46}$Ca + $^{238}$Am, $^{45}$Sc + $^{242}$Pu, and $^{46,48,50}$Ti + $^{243}$Np, $^{51}$V + $^{238}$U at the excitation energy interval of 0-100 MeV., Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures, 1 table

We have calculated the multinucleon transfer reactions of $^{208}$Os, $^{208}$Pt, $^{208}$Hg, $^{208}$Pb,$^{208}$Po, $^{208}$Rn, $^{208}$Ra,$^{132,136}$Xe bombarding on $^{232}$Th and $^{248}$Cm at Coulomb barrier energies within the dinuclear system model, systematically. The results are in good agreement with the available experimental data. Coulomb effect and shell effect on production of actinides in these reactions have been investigated thoroughly. Potential energy surface and total kinetic energy mass distributions in the reactions $^{208}$Hg, $^{208}$Pb and$^{208}$Po colliding on $^{248}$Cm and $^{232}$Th are calculated and analyzed, respectively. It is found that PES and TKE spectra manifest the fragment formation mechanism in the multinucleon transfer reactions. The isospin effect and shell effect are shown in PES and TKE. Production cross-sections of multinucleon transfer products are highly dependent on the isobar projectiles with mass number $A=208$. The isobar projectiles with larger N/Z ratios are favorable for creating the neutron-rich target-like fragments. The isobar projectiles with larger charge number induced products tend to shift to proton-rich region. Coulomb potential coupled to shell effect is shown in production cross-sections of actinide isotopes. Based on the radioactive projectiles induced reactions, we have predicted massive new actinide isotopes around nuclear drip lines, even could access the superheavy nuclei region., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures

Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, the influence of mass asymmetry and the isospin effect on the production of exotic actinides have been investigated systematically. The isotopic yields populate in multinucleon transfer reactions of Ca(48), Kr(86), Xe(136), and U(238) bombarding on Cm(248) are analyzed and compared to the available experimental data. Systematics on the production of unknown actinides from Ac to Lr via the available stable elements on the earth (from Ar to U) as projectiles-induced reactions with $^{232}$Th, $^{238}$U and $^{248}$Cm are investigated thoroughly. Potential energy surface and total kinetic energy distribution for the reaction system are calculated and can be used to predict the production cross-section trends. It is found that the heavier projectile leads to the wider isotopic chain distribution for the same target. The heavier target-based reactions prefer to produce plenty of exotic actinides through both mechanisms of deep-inelastic and quasi-fission reactions. Isospin relaxation plays a crucial role in the colliding process, resulting in actinide isotopic distribution tends to shift to the drip lines. Massive new actinides have been predicted at the level of nanobarn to millibarn. Within the framework of Skyrme energy-density functional theory, the nucleus-nucleus potential is calculated and potential energy surface is obtained with different effective forces for accurately estimating the formation cross sections of superheavy nuclei in massive fusion reactions. The width and height of the potential pocket are influenced by the Skyrme effective forces SkM, SkM$^{\ast}$, SkP, SIII, Ska and SLy4, which correspond to the different equation of state for the isospin symmetry nuclear matter. It is found that the nucleus-nucleus potential is associated with the collision orientation and Skyrme parameters. More repulsive nuclear potential is pronounced with increasing the incompressible modulus of nuclear matter. The available data in the fusion-evaporation reaction of $^{48}$Ca+$^{238}$U are nicely reproduced with the SkM$^{\ast}$ parameter by implementing into the dinuclear system model., Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, 1 table

Transport models are the main method to obtain physics information from low to relativistic-energy heavy-ion collisions. The Transport Model Evaluation Project (TMEP) has been pursued to test the robustness of transport model predictions in reaching consistent conclusions from the same type of physical model. Calculations under controlled conditions of physical input and set-up were performed with various participating codes. These included both calculations of nuclear matter in a box with periodic boundary conditions, and more realistic calculations of heavy-ion collisions. In this intermediate review, we summarize and discuss the present status of the project. We also provide condensed descriptions of the 26 participating codes, which contributed to some part of the project. These include the major codes in use today. We review the main results of the studies completed so far. They show, that in box calculations the differences between the codes can be well understood and a convergence of the results can be reached. These studies also highlight the systematic differences between the two families of transport codes, known as BUU and QMD type codes. However, when the codes were compared in full heavy-ion collisions using different physical models, as recently for pion production, they still yielded substantially different results. This calls for further comparisons of heavy-ion collisions with controlled models and of box comparisons of important ingredients, like momentum-dependent fields, which are currently underway. We often indicate improved strategies in performing transport simulations and thus provide guidance to code developers. A new polymer black hole solution in loop quantum gravity was proposed recently. The difference between the polymer black hole and Schwarzschild black hole is captured by a quantum parameter $A$. In order to get the constraints on parameter $A$, we consider the observational constraints imposed on $A$ by using the Solar System experiments and calculate the deflection of light, Shapiro time delay, perihelion precession and obtain the effects associated with parameter $A$. Moreover, the parameterized post-Newtonian approach of this loop quantum gravity black hole was also carried out. It turns out the tightest constraint on $A$ can be improved to $0

Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, the reaction mechanisms for synthesizing target-like isotopes from Bk to compound nuclei Lv are thoroughly investigated in complete and incomplete fusion reaction of $^{48}$Ca +$^{248}$Cm around Coulomb barrier energies. Production cross-section of $^{292,293}$Lv as a function of excitation energy in fusion-evaporation reactions and target-like isotopic yields in multinucleon transfer reactions are evaluated, in which a statistical approach is used to describe the decay process of excited nuclei. The available experimental data can be reproduced well with the model reasonably. The products of all possible formed isotopes in the dynamical pre-equilibrium process for collision partners at incident energy $E_{\rm lab}$ = 5.5 MeV/nucleon are exported, systematically. It is found that the quasi-fission fragments are dominant in the yields. The optimal pathway from the target to compound nuclei shows up along the valley of potential surface energy. The effective impact parameter of two colliding partners leading to compound nuclei is selected from head-on collision to semi-central collision with $L$ = 52 $\rm \hbar$. The timescale boundary between complete fusion and multinucleon transfer reactions is about 5.7$\times 10^{-21}$ s with effective impact parameters. Synthesis cross-section of unknown neutron-rich actinides from Bk to Rf have been predicted around several nanobarns.

The dynamics of light hypernuclei and nuclear clusters produced in $^{197}$Au+$^{197}$Au collisions has been investigated thoroughly with a microscopic transport model. All possible channels of hyperon production and transportation of hyperons in nuclear medium are implemented into the model. The light complex fragments are recognized with the Wigner density approach at the stage of freeze out in nuclear collisions. The isospin diffusion in the collisions is responsible for the neutron-rich cluster formation. The collective flows of nuclear clusters are consistent with the experimental data from FOPI collaboration. It is found that the influence of the hyperon-nucleon potential on the free hyperons is negligible, but available for the light hypernuclide formation. The directed and elliptic flows of $^{3}_{\Lambda}$H and $^{4}_{\Lambda}$H at incident energies of 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 and 4 GeV/nucleon are investigated thoroughly and manifest the same structure with the nuclear clusters. The fusion dynamics on the formation of superheavy nuclei is investigated thoroughly within the dinuclear system model. The Monte Carlo approach is implemented into the nucleon transfer process for including all possible orientations, at which the dinuclear system is assumed to be formed at the touching configuration of dinuclear fragments. The production cross sections of superheavy nuclei Cn, Fl, Lv, Ts and Og are calculated and compared with the available data from Dubna. The evaporation residue excitation functions in the channels of pure neutrons and charged particles are analyzed systematically. The combinations with $^{44}$Sc, $^{48,50}$Ti, $^{49,51}$V, $^{52,54}$Cr, $^{58,62}$Fe and $^{62,64}$Ni bombarding the actinide nuclides $^{238}$U, $^{244}$Pu, $^{248}$Cm, $^{247,249}$Bk, $^{249,251}$Cf, $^{252}$Es and $^{243}$Am are calculated for producing the superheavy elements with Z=119-122. It is found that the production cross sections sensitively depend on the neutron richness of reaction system. Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, the production mechanism of neutron-rich heavy nuclei around N = 162 has been investigated systematically. The isotopic yields in the multinucleon transfer reaction of $^{238}$U + $^{248}$Cm was analyzed and compared the available experimental data. Systematics on the production of superheavy nuclei via $^{238}$U on $^{252,254}$Cf, $^{254}$Es and $^{257}$Fm is investigated. It is found that the shell effect is of importance in the formation of neutron-rich nuclei around N=162 owing to the enhancement of fission barrier. The fragments in the multinucleon transfer reactions manifest the broad isotopic distribution and are dependent on the beam energy. The polar angles of the fragments tend to the forward emission with increasing the beam energy. The production cross sections of new isotopes are estimated and heavier targets are available for the neutron-rich superheavy nucleus formation. Within the microscopic transport, systematic investigation of the many facets of hyperons and hypernuclei up to strangeness $S = -2$ are carried out for $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au and $^{40}$Ca + $^{40}$Ca at the incident energy of $3A$ GeV. The spatial, temporal and density distributions of hyperon production, absorption and freeze-out are thoroughly investigated. The rapidity and kinetic energy spectra of $\Xi$ hyperons and double $\Lambda$ hypernuclei are analyzed. It is revealed that the chemical balance of hyperon production is established in baryon-baryon channels while the opposite is found in baryon-meson channels. It turns out that the rapidity spectra of $^{4,5}_{\Lambda\Lambda}$X are single-peak and more than two orders of magnitude lower than that of $^{3}_{\Lambda}$H. Formation of double $\Lambda$ hypernuclei through $\Xi$ hypernuclei as intermediate states is also discussed in kinematics., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures

Within the framework of quantum molecular dynamics transport model, the isospin and in-medium effects on the hyperon production in the reaction of $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au are investigated thoroughly. A repulsive hyperon-nucleon potential from the chiral effective field theory is implemented into the model, which is related to the hyperon momentum and baryon density. The correction on threshold energy of the elementary hyperon cross section is taken into account. It is found that the $\Sigma$ yields are suppressed in the domain of midrapidity and kinetic energy spectra with the potential. The hyperons are emitted in the reaction plane because of the strangeness exchange reaction and reabsorption process in nuclear medium. The $\Sigma^{-}/\Sigma^{+}$ ratio depends on the stiffness of nuclear symmetry energy, in particular in the high-energy region (above 500 MeV)., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

Within the transport model evaluation project (TMEP) of simulations for heavy-ion collisions, the mean-field response is examined here. Specifically, zero-sound propagation is considered for neutron-proton symmetric matter enclosed in a periodic box, at zero temperature and around normal density. The results of several transport codes belonging to two families (BUU-like and QMD-like) are compared among each other and to exact calculations. For BUU-like codes, employing the test particle method, the results depend on the combination of the number of test particles and the spread of the profile functions that weight integration over space. These parameters can be properly adapted to give a good reproduction of the analytical zero-sound features. QMD-like codes, using molecular dynamics methods, are characterized by large damping effects, attributable to the fluctuations inherent in their phase-space representation. Moreover, for a given nuclear effective interaction, they generally lead to slower density oscillations, as compared to BUU-like codes. The latter problem is mitigated in the more recent lattice formulation of some of the QMD codes. The significance of these results for the description of real heavy-ion collisions is discussed.

The dynamics of high-energy proton-induced spallation reactions on target nuclides of $^{136}$Xe, $^{59}$Ni, $^{56}$Fe, $^{208}$Pb, $^{184}$W, $^{181}$Ta, $^{197}$Au and $^{112}$Cd, are investigated with the quantum molecular dynamics transport model. The production mechanism of light nuclides and fission fragments is thoroughly analyzed. The statistical code GEMINI is employed in conjunction to the model for managing the decay of primary fragments. For the treatment of cluster emission during the preequilibrium stage, a surface coalescence model is implemented into the model. It is found that the available data of total cross sections are well reproduced with the combined approach for the spallation reactions on both the heavy and light targets, i.e., $^{56}$Fe and $^{208}$Pb, while it is underestimated in the intermediate-mass-fragment region for the medium-mass target $^{136}$Xe. The energetic clusters are mainly contributed from the preequilibrium recognition, in which the quantum tunneling is taken into account. On the other hand, a fairly well overall description of light cluster and neutron emission is obtained and detailed discrepancies with respect to the experimental results are discussed. Possible modifications on the description of spallation reactions are stressed and compared with both recent experimental and theoretical results in the literature., Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures

Strange particles and hyperfragments in collisions of antiprotons and protons on nuclei have been investigated systematically within a microscopic transport model. The hyperons are produced from the annihilation in antibaryon-baryon collisions and strangeness exchange process in antiproton induced reactions. A coalescence approach is used for constructing the primary hyperfragments in phase space and the statistical model is modified for describing the decay of hyperfragments via evaporating hyperon, neutron, charged particles etc, in which the shell effect, binding energy and root-mean-square radii are taken into account. It is found that the influence of the hyperon-nucleon interaction on the free $\Lambda$ and $\Xi^{-}$ production is negligible. However, the large hyperfragment yields are obvious with the attractive potential. The production of double strangeness hyperfragments are reduced below 1$\mu b$ in comparison to the yields of $\Lambda$-hyperfragments with the cross sections of 0.05-0.1 mb in the antiproton induced reactions on $^{63}$Cu at the incident momenta of 1-5 GeV/c. The light hyperfragments are formed in the dynamical fragmentation process. The energy dependence of hyperfragment formation is weak once the incident energy above the threshold energy for the hyperon production., Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures

Within the dinuclear system model, unknown neutron-deficient isotopes Np, Pu, Am, Cm, Bk, Cf, Es, Fm are investigated in $^{40}$Ca, $^{36,40}$Ar, $^{32}$S, $^{28}$Si,$^{24}$Mg induced fusion-evaporation reactions and multinucleon transfer reactions with radioactive beams $^{59}$Cu,$^{69}$As,$^{90}$Nb,$^{91}$Tc, $^{94}$Rh, $^{105,110}$Sn, $^{118}$Xe induced with $^{238}$U near Coulomb barrier energies. The production cross sections of compound nuclei in the fusion-evaporation reactions and fragments yields in the multinucleon transfer reactions are calculated within the model. A statistical approach is used to evaluate the survival probability of excited nuclei via the both reaction mechanisms. A dynamical deformation is implemented into the model in the dissipation process. It is found that charge particle channels (alpha and proton) dominate in the decay process of proton-rich nuclides and the fusion-evaporation reactions are favorable to produce the new neutron-deficient actinide isotopes. The dynamics of exotic hypernuclei in heavy-ion collisions has been investigated thoroughly with a microscopic transport model. All possible channels on hyperon ($\Lambda$, $\Sigma$ and $\Xi$) production near threshold energies are implemented in the transport model. The light complex fragments (Z$\leq$2) are constructed with the Wigner-function method. The classical phase-space coalescence is used for recognizing heavy nuclear and hyperfragments and the statistical model is taken for describing the decay process. The nuclear fragmentation reactions of the available experimental data from the ALADIN collaboration are well reproduced by the combined approach. It is found that the in-medium potentials of strange particles influence the strangeness production and fragment formation. The hyperfragments are mainly created in the projectile or target-like rapidity region and the yields are reduced about the 3-order magnitude in comparison to the nuclear fragments. The hypernuclear dynamics of HypHI data is well described with the model. The possible experiments for producing the neutron-rich hyperfragments at the high-intensity heavy-ion accelerator facility (HIAF) are discussed., Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures

The dynamical mechanism of multinucleon transfer (MNT) reactions has been investigated within the dinuclear system (DNS) model, in which the sequential nucleon transfer is described by solving a set of microscopically derived master equations. Production cross sections, total kinetic energy spectra, angular distribution of formed fragments in the reactions of $^{124,132}$Sn+ $^{238}$U/$^{248}$Cm near Coulomb barrier energies are thoroughly analyzed. It is found that the total kinetic energies of primary fragments are dissipated from the relative motion energy and rotational energy of the two colliding nuclei. The fragments are formed in the forward angle domain. The energy dependence of the angular spectra is different between projectile-like and target-like fragments. Isospin equilibrium is governed under the potential energy surface. Formation mechanism of hyperfragments with strangeness s=-1 and s=-2 in collisions of antikaons on nuclei has been investigated within a microscopic transport model. Dynamics of pseudoscalar mesons and hyperons is modeled within the transport model, in which all possible reaction channels for creating hyperons such as the elastic scattering, resonance production and decay, strangeness exchange reaction and direct strangeness production in meson-baryon and baryon-baryon collisions have been included. A coalescence approach is developed for constructing hyperfragments in phase space and the decay process is described with a statistical approach. It is found that the $\Xi^{-}$ production is correlated to the K$^{+}$ formation and the hyperons $\Lambda$ and $\Sigma$ are created within a broad rapidity region. The production cross sections of nucleonic fragments and hyperfragments weakly depends on the incident momentum. The yields of $\Lambda-$ hyperfragments are the six order of magnitude of $\Xi^{-}-$ hyperfragments., Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures

Within the framework of the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics model, the deep subthreshold antiproton production in heavy-ion collisions has been investigated thoroughly. The elastic scattering, annihilation and charge exchange reactions associated with antiproton channels are implemented in the model. The attractive antiproton potential extracted from the G-parity transformation of the nucleon selfenergies enhance the antiproton yields to some extent. The calculated invariant spectra are consistent with the available experimental data. The primordial antiproton yields increase with the mass number of colliding system. However, the annihilation reactions reduce the antiproton production and enable independent to colliding partners. Antiflow phenomena of antiprotons correlated to the mean-field potential and annihilation mechanism is found in comparison with proton flows., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

Within the framework of the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics (LQMD) transport model, the isospin effect in peripheral heavy-ion collisions has been investigated thoroughly. A coalescence approach is used for recognizing the primary fragments formed in nucleus-nucleus collisions. The secondary decay process of the fragments is described by the statistical code, GEMINI. Production mechanism and isospin effect of the projectile-like and target-like fragments are analyzed with the combined approach. It is found that the isospin migration from the high-isospin density to the low-density matter takes place in the neutron-rich nuclear reactions, i.e., $^{48}$Ca+$^{208}$Pb, $^{86}$Kr+$^{48}$Ca/$^{208}$Pb/$^{124}$Sn, $^{136}$Xe+$^{208}$Pb, $^{124}$Sn+$^{124}$Sn and $^{136}$Xe+$^{136}$Xe. A hard symmetry energy is available for creating the neutron-rich fragments, in particular in the medium-mass region. The isospin effect of the neutron to proton (n/p) ratio of the complex fragments is reduced once including the secondary decay process. However, a soft symmetry energy enhances the n/p ratio of the light particles, in particular at the kinetic energies above 15 MeV/nucleon., Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures

We compare ten transport codes for a system confined in a box, aiming at improved handling of the production of $\Delta$ resonances and pions, which is indispensable for constraining high-density symmetry energy from observables such as the $\pi^-/\pi^+$ yield ratio in heavy-ion collisions. The system in a box is initialized with nucleons at saturation density and at 60 MeV temperature. The reactions $NN\leftrightarrow N\Delta$ and $\Delta\leftrightarrow N\pi$ are implemented, but the Pauli blocking and the mean-field potential are deactivated in the present comparison. Results are compared to those from the two reference cases of a chemically equilibrated ideal gas mixture and of the rate equation. In the results of the numbers of $\Delta$ and $\pi$, deviations from the reference values are observed in many codes, and they depend significantly on the size of the time step. These deviations are tied to different ways in ordering the sequence of collisions and decays, that take place in the same time step. Better agreements are seen in the reaction rates and the number ratios among the isospin species of $\Delta$ and $\pi$. These are, however, affected by the correlations, which are absent in the Boltzmann equation, but are induced by the way particle scatterings are treated in transport calculations. The uncertainty in the transport-code predictions of the $\pi^-/\pi^+$ ratio for the system initialized at n/p = 1.5, after letting the existing $\Delta$ resonances decay, is found to be within a few percent, which is sufficiently small so that it does not strongly impact constraining the high-density symmetry energy from heavy-ion collisions. Most of the sources of uncertainties have been understood, and individual codes may be further improved. Recent progress of the quantum molecular dynamics model for describing the dynamics of heavy-ion collisions is viewed, in particular the nuclear fragmentation, isospin physics, particle production and in-medium effect, hadron-induced nuclear reactions, hypernucleus etc. The neck fragmentation in Fermi-energy heavy-ion collisions is investigated for extracting the symmetry energy at subsaturation densities. The isospin effects, in-medium properties and the behavior of high-density symmetry energy in medium and high energy heavy-ion collisions are thoroughly discussed. Simulations by transport codes are indispensable to extract valuable physics information from heavy ion collisions. In order to understand the origins of discrepancies between different widely used transport codes, we compare 15 such codes under controlled conditions of a system confined to a box with periodic boundary, initialized with Fermi-Dirac distributions at saturation density and temperatures of either 0 or 5 MeV. In such calculations, one is able to check separately the different ingredients of a transport code. In this second publication of the code evaluation project, we only consider the two-body collision term, i.e. we perform cascade calculations. When the Pauli blocking is artificially suppressed, the collision rates are found to be consistent for most codes (to within $1\%$ or better) with analytical results, or completely controlled results of a basic cascade code after eliminating the correlations within the same pair of colliding particles. In calculations with active Pauli blocking, the blocking probability was found to deviate from the expected reference values. The reason is found in substantial phase-space fluctuations and smearing tied to numerical algorithms and model assumptions in the representation of phase space. This results in the reduction of the blocking probability in most transport codes, so that the simulated system gradually evolves away from the Fermi-Dirac towards a Boltzmann distribution. As a result of this investigation, we are able to make judgements about the most effective strategies in transport simulations for determining the collision probabilities and the Pauli blocking. Investigation in a similar vein of other ingredients in transport calculations, like the mean field propagation or the production of nucleon resonances and mesons, will be discussed in the future publications., Comment: 23 pages, 10 figures. The multinucleon transfer reactions near barrier energies has been investigated with a multistep model based on the dinuclear system (DNS) concept, in which the capture of two colliding nuclei, the transfer dynamics and the de-excitation process of primary fragments are described by the analytical formula, the diffusion theory and the statistical model, respectively. The nucleon transfer takes place after forming the DNS and is coupled to the dissipation of relative motion energy and angular momentum by solving a set of microscopically derived master equations within the potential energy surface. Specific reactions of $^{40,48}$Ca+$^{124}$Sn, $^{40}$Ca ($^{40}$Ar, $^{58}$Ni)+$^{232}$Th, $^{40}$Ca ($^{58}$Ni)+$^{238}$U and $^{40,48}$Ca ($^{58}$Ni) +$^{248}$Cm near barrier energies are investigated. It is found that the fragments are produced by the multinucleon transfer reactions with the maximal yields along the $\beta$-stability line. The isospin relaxation is particularly significant in the process of fragment formation. The inclusive spectra of preequilibrium nucleons produced in low-energy antiproton-nucleus collisions are thoroughly investigated within the framework of the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics model for the first time. All possible reaction channels such as elastic scattering, annihilation, charge exchange and inelastic scattering in antibaryon-baryon, baryon-baryon and meson-baryon collisions have been included in the transport model. The unexpected neutron/proton ratio in comparison to the pion and proton induced reactions is caused from the isospin effects of pion-nucleon collisions and the density dependence of symmetry energy. It is found that the $\pi^{-}$-neutron collisions enhance the neutron emission in the antiproton annihilation in a nucleus. Different to heavy-ion collisions, the isospin effects are pronounced at the low kinetic energies. A soft symmetry energy with the stiffness of $\gamma_{s}=$0.5 at subsaturation densities is constrained from the available data of the neutron/proton spectra., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures

Within the framework of the dinuclear system model, production cross sections of proton-rich nuclei with charged numbers of Z=84-90 are investigated systematically. Possible combinations with the $^{28}$Si, $^{32}$S, $^{40}$Ar bombarding the target nuclides $^{165}$Ho, $^{169}$Tm, $^{170-174}$Yb, $^{175,176}$Lu, $^{174,176-180}$Hf and $^{181}$Ta are analyzed thoroughly. The optimal excitation energies and evaporation channels are proposed to produce the proton-rich nuclei. The systems are feasible to be constructed in experiments. It is found that the neutron shell closure of N=126 is of importance during the evaporation of neutrons. The experimental excitation functions in the $^{40}$Ar induced reactions can be nicely reproduced. The charged particle evaporation is comparable with neutrons in cooling the excited proton-rich nuclei, in particular for the channels with $\alpha$ and proton evaporation. The production cross section increases with the mass asymmetry of colliding systems because of the decrease of the inner fusion barrier. The channels with pure neutron evaporation depend on the isotopic targets. The averaged mass loss increases with the mass number of target nucleus. Dynamics of the nuclear fragmentations and the charge exchange reactions in pion-nucleus collisions near the $\Delta$(1232) resonance energies has been investigated within the Lanzhou quantum molecular dynamics (LQMD) transport model. An isospin, momentum and density-dependent pion-nucleon potential is implemented in the model, which influences the pion dynamics, in particular the kinetic energy spectra, but weakly impacts the fragmentation mechanism. The absorption process in pion-nucleon collisions to form the $\Delta$(1232) resonance dominates the heating mechanism of target nucleus. The excitation energy transferred to the target nucleus increases with the pion kinetic energy and is similar for both $\pi^{-}$ and $\pi^{+}$ induced reactions. The magnitude of fragmentation of target nucleus weakly depends on the pion energy.
