Abstract

1,1,7-Trihydrododecafluoroheptanol is a promising solvent for the development of strontium-selective extractants based on individual stereoisomers of dicyclohexano-18-crown-6 (DCH18C6). In this study the distribution of DCH18C6 between organic and aqueous phases was determined and the effect of macrocycle stereoisomerism was revealed. Extractability of nitric acid depended on the acidity of initial aqueous phase and did not on DCH18C6 stereoisomerism. Based on the structure of radiolytic intermediates, the main channels of radiation destruction of the macrocycle and the solvent were proposed. The obtained data highlights the potentiality of the DCH18C6/1,1,7-trihydrododecafluoroheptanol for designing a technological process for the selective strontium extraction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The velocities and initial temperatures of crystallization from super-heated shocked melts have been estimated as a result of the investigation of the structures and mineral association in impact melt rocks of Puchezh-Katunki astrobleme. The dependence of these parameters vs. the body thickness of impact melt rocks have been found.

Abstract

The Vorotilov core was drilled in the central uplift of the Puchezh-Katunki astrobleme to a depth of 5.1 km. Impactites are revealed in the rocks of the core beginning from a depth of 366 m: suevites (66 m), allogenic breccias (112 m), and autogenic breccias (deeper than 544 m). These rocks are represented by shocked-metamorphic gneisses, schists, amphibolites of Archean age, and magmatic rocks (dolerites, olivines, and peridotites) that lie between them.

Abstract

We present an algorithm for recovering planted solutions in two well-known models, the stochastic block model and planted constraint satisfaction problems, via a common generalization in terms of random bipartite graphs. Our algorithm matches up to a constant factor the best-known bounds for the number of edges (or constraints) needed for perfect recovery and its running time is linear in the number of edges used. The time complexity is significantly better than both spectral and SDP-based approaches. The main contribution of the algorithm is in the case of unequal sizes in the bipartition (corresponding to odd uniformity in the CSP). Here our algorithm succeeds at a significantly lower density than the spectral approaches, surpassing a barrier based on the spectral norm of a random matrix. Other significant features of the algorithm and analysis include (i) the critical use of power iteration with subsampling, which might be of independent interest; its analysis requires keeping track of multiple norms of an evolving solution (ii) it can be implemented statistically, i.e., with very limited access to the input distribution (iii) the algorithm is extremely simple to implement and runs in linear time, and thus is practical even for very large instances.
