The most important tool in evaluating the effectiveness of the simulation model is external validation. A heurmeneutical perspective is adopted to increase the usability, validity and generalizability of the simulation models.

The problems involved in evaluating simulations are mainly due to the poorly designed studies and inherent difficulties in creating an acceptable methodology of evaluation. The fidelity, verification, and validations are the key concepts that appear in the literature of simulation evaluation which develops a coherent framework for pursuing the evaluation problem.

Previous research has shown that consumers form perceptions of value when buying a bundle through the comparison of a bundle price to the sum of associated individual prices. The perceptions of value are then directly related to preference or choice. Using a prix fixe menu as a bundle exemplar, the above notion of value perception was empirically tested by investigating whether consumers were more likely to choose higher priced á la carte items to be included in their bundles when given an opportunity to choose between various prix fixe menus. The study finds that price differences among á la carte items indeed influenced consumers' choice decisions when selecting a prix fixe menu; consumers attached more importance to the higher priced appetizer and entrée items than the lower priced ones. This paper addresses the issues of hotel operators identifying effective means of allocating rooms through various electronic channels of distribution. Relying upon the theory of coercive isomorphism, a think tank was constructed to identify and define electronic channels of distribution currently being utilized in the hotel industry. Through two full-day focus groups consisting of key hotel executives and industry practitioners, distribution channels were identified as were challenges and solutions associated with each. Food safety management poses a continual challenge for the commercial food service industry. Deficiencies in employee food safety knowledge and poor attitudes toward the importance of food safety can result in practices that increase the risk of foodborne illness. The purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to assess and compare the food safety knowledge and attitudes of employees in fine dining and quick service restaurants; and, (2) to validate a measurement instrument used in prior research about food safety management. In this study, quick service restaurant employees had a lower composite score on their overall knowledge test than did fine dining employees. In addition, a significant difference between the two groups was found in their knowledge and attitudes toward the critical control points of cooling and reheating. However, significant differences between the two groups in the other three areas (cross-contamination, home practice and safe handling practice) were not found.
