Abstract

BACKGROUND Most cases of Apert syndrome (AS) are found after birth. Cases of AS diagnosed by ultrasound combined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole exome sequencing (WES) during pregnancy are rare. CASE SUMMARY We present the case of a 34-year old female patient (gravida 2, para 1) whose fetus was diagnosed with AS during pregnancy. Fetal ultrasound performed at 30, 2/7 wk of pregnancy showed abnormalities. MRI and three-dimensional ultrasound performed at 31, 1/7 wk of pregnancy showed the possibility of AS. Chromosome examination and core family WES were conducted at 31, 5/7 wk of pregnancy. The results showed that FGFR2 in the fetus had a c.755C>G missense mutation in its nucleotide, and AS was confirmed. CONCLUSION This case highlights the importance of imaging examinations. Prenatal ultrasound combined with MRI can identify fetal morphological abnormalities accurately, which can be confirmed by WES.

Abstract

The development of efficient long-wavelength TADF emitters has been full of challenges owing to the various strict molecular design limiting factors. Herein, two orange-red TADF emitters, namely 3DMAC-BP-Br and 3DMAC-BP-CN, based on donor 9,9-dimethyl-9,10-dihydroacridine (DMAC) and rigid acceptor dibenzo[a,c]phenazine (BP) modified by electron-withdrawing bromine atom or cyano group, were designed and synthesized. Both emitters have large twisted D-A-D structure. The strong electron-withdrawing capabilities of the bromine atom or cyano group can dramatically affect photoelectric properties of the emitters by enhancing the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) effect and enlarge conjugation with the BP group. Hence, both emitters have high PLQY values (83% and 92%, respectively) in doped films and possess simultaneously small ΔEST values (0.04 and 0.02 eV, respectively). As a result, both 3DMAC-BP-Br and 3DMAC-BP-CN show superior device performance. Especially, DMAC-BP-CN based OLED exhibits a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 22.43% and low turn-on voltage of 2.8 V.

Abstract

Purpose: To determine the protective effects of liquiritin on corticosterone-induced neurotoxicity in rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells. Methods: Neurotoxicity in PC12 cells was induced by different concentrations of corticosterone. Proliferation of PC12 cells was evaluated using CCK8 assay kits, while apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry. Results: The results indicate that corticosterone inhibited the proliferation of PC12 cells time- and dosedependently. The inhibitory effect (0.2 mM) was ameliorated by liquiritin. Furthermore, the cell apoptosis rate and protein level of caspase 3 in PC12 cells induced by corticosterone were ameliorated by liquiritin (1 and 2 mg/mL) treatment. Moreover, the protective effect of liquiritin (2 mg/mL) on corticosterone induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells was weakened by K252a (the specific TrkB inhibitor) treatment. In addition, the protein level of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and (tyrosine-kinase receptor) TrkB showed a reverse trend to caspase 3. Conclusion: Liquiritin shows protective effects against neurotoxicity induced by corticosterone in PC12 cells, and these effects are exerted via up-regulating BDNF/TrkB signaling.
