The article examines the analysis of the relationship between the economic condition and the level of education of the regions of the Russian Federation over the past 20 years. The gross regional product, the share of pensioners, total expenses and the share of utility costs, the share of the population with incomes below the subsistence level, etc. were selected as economic indicators of the regions. As indicators characterizing the level of education in the regions, the number of teachers, students, teachers, graduate students, the share of costs for basic and applied research, etc. were taken. The main research methods are factor, correlation and cluster analysis, as well as the principal component method. Using cluster analysis, 4 groups of regions were obtained, differing in economic indicators. All indicators were standardized and for each year the method of main components between two groups of indicators was carried out both for all regions of the Russian Federation and for each cluster separately. After selecting the first main components, a linear relationship is constructed between the two groups of indicators under consideration for different federal districts of the Russian Federation. It is concluded that for the first two clusters, from 2000 to 2003, there was no connection between the two groups of indicators. However, since 2004, a linear relationship between the two groups of indicators has been revealed, which tends to increase. For the third and fourth clusters, the absence of this dependence has been noted over the past 20 years. Based on the constructed linear regression model, a forecast is made for the next 3 years on the strengthening of the influence of the economy on the field of education for the regions included in the first and second clusters. The analysis confirms the assumption that for industrial regions there is a significant relationship between economic indicators and the level of education, whereas for raw material regions there is no such relationship. The proposed method can be used both to analyze the impact of economic factors on the education of regions and to analyze the reverse effect, which is especially important for making strategic decisions in the field of education.

In the context of digitalization, a strong image of a university based on values, mission and unique features is a key factor influencing popularity in cyberspace. The article develops a methodology for assessing university awareness in the digital environment and determining its reputation through analysing the frequency of web queries in the Yandex search engine. The entrepreneurial university concept constitutes the theoretical framework of the study. The research method is a quantitative approach to statistical analysis of a continuous array of text data. Empirical data include official regulations on educational insti tutions, data from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Federal State Statistics Service (Ross tat), and Yandex digital analytics. Our methodology involves assessing university names popular in cyberspace and comparing quantitative indicators of universities’ digital reputation. The paper presents Russia’s top-20 universities with highest awareness levels based on search queries, and the top-10 universities for all Russia’s federal districts (FDs). Six out of eight districts (exclud ing the Southern and North Caucasus FDs) are represented in the top-20 universities ranking. The Central FD, especially Moscow, generate the largest number of queries, which may indicate a high interest in the capital’s universities. The study specifies reputa tional risks associated with universities’ names in the charters, namely ambiguous abbreviations and a limited number of options. To avoid confusion, it is necessary to single out unique names and abbreviations and formalize the most common of them. One particular name should be used to enhance university awareness and attractiveness, which reduces reputational risks and, thus, creates a strong university image.

Wine is linked to the history of Western civilization and, throughout history, has been expanding to new frontiers. In Brazil, new regions have been developing, whether in traditional viticulture or in tropical viticulture and winter wines. The article analyzes the process of insertion of viticulture in the high-altitude Cerrado, highlighting the integration with the territory and the perspectives in terms of local development. The study is qualitative and exploratory and included primary and secondary data. Bibliographic and documentary research was carried out, as well as interviews with wine grape producers in the region. The results show the presence of a product with a territorial identity, which has already been integrating local elements. The survey shows the availability of several territorial resources that can be valued in terms of heritage, culture, and landscape, and the presence of research to support the new sector. The presence of common elements in other wine territories can be identified in terms of terroir, landscape, and wine tourism. The preliminary results point to a potential for designation of origin, based on in-depth studies and characterization of wines from the high-altitude Cerrado. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Brazilian savanna (Cerrado Biome) is one of the most important regions in the world in terms of food production, with the use of fertilizers based on nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK). When not applied properly, fertilizers can alter and affect water quality. The objective of this study was to evaluate the presence of these compounds in surface and groundwater in the Upper Jardim River Hydrographic Unit, Federal District, thus characterizing seasonal variations during the dry and rainy seasons in two periods. A total of 207 groundwater samples and 23 surface water samples were collected in the years 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2020. The parameters analyzed were pH and nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, phosphate and potassium ions. In groundwater samples, pH values were significantly higher and ion levels lower in samples collected during the early years (except for nitrate), and the ammonium concentrations were lower in the dry season than the rainy (in 2014 and 2019). In surface samples, total phosphorus levels were significantly higher in the rainy/2019 compared to the rainy/2020 season, while this tendency was inverted for potassium during the dry season. The use of NPK-based fertilizers has increased considerably in recent years in the region due to the expansion of the agricultural area, and although the results of the study show that concentrations in water are much lower than the maximum values allowed by Brazilian legislation, continuous monitoring is necessary to guarantee water quality. This article is the result of Post-Doctoral research carried out at the University of Brasília (PPGSC/UnB), in 2022. There is a scientific and social interest in understanding how certain families in the Federal District experience situations of institutional violence generated by police homicide and how Specialized public policies for care and guidance reach these victimized groups. The research problem seeks to analyze, through a bibliographical and documentary survey, what has been produced about the phenomenon in the district region, within the scope of support networks and health conditions of victimized families, in recent years. The main objective is to analyze the academic debate about police homicide and the impacts of this violence on victimized families in the Federal District. The specific objectives are: 1. to discuss the literature about police homicide and victimized families in the Federal District in recent years; 2. Identify which social and official support networks are in the Federal District; 3. Understand the health conditions of victimized families, caused by the continuation of institutional violence. The research methodology is qualitative, through bibliographic and documental analysis in the following databases: Scielo, Google Scholar, CAPES Directory and institutional documents from other search sources. It is hoped that the research will contribute to understanding a section of the field of study focused on violence, public safety, victimized families and public policies in the Federal District. In modern realities the development of the country is impossible without the introduction of innovative developments in production. Therefore, identifying the level of innovation activity in the context of all federal districts makes it possible to assess the capabilities of each subject of the country and based on this monitoring to form an innovation development strategy. Considering certain indicators which characterize the productive component of the innovation potential, the author conducted a comparative assessment of the federal districts of the Russian Federation, identified trends and directions of development. Conclusions are drawn about the problems and opportunities of innovative development. The purpose of the study is to determine the innovative activity development direction of the Russian Federation in the main federal districts. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were identified: to assess the volume of innovative goods produced by federal districts; to define the costs of this activity; to find the factors constraining innovative development.

This article deals with the period of urban reforms in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on the finances of the Federal District - an unusual object at the center of this theme, so widely debated by historiography. The central problem proposed seeks to measure and indicate the limits and challenges imposed by municipal finances on the reforming drive of district governments at the dawn of the 20th century. The study's methodology is based on confronting sources that systematically express quantitative information with others that describe and discuss the constitutive processes that outlined municipal finances in the period. In a critical-descriptive appraisal, we analyze the financial resources in their flow into the municipal coffers; we scrutinize the collection, spending and investments; we point out the sources, forms and costs of financing obtained by the municipality of Rio de Janeiro. The text looks for indications of the existence and degree of dependence, not only political, but especially financial, of the capital's government on the federal government. The analytical exercise of statistical tables and yearbooks, legislation and official reports - both municipal and federal - was complexified in the critical perspectives offered by texts and cartoons in periodicals, studies, memoirs and non-governmental reports, thus offering a contribution from Economic History to this subject of such long-standing interest to historians. The oil refining industry has an important position in the Russian economy. However, most of the country’s oil refineries have outdated production capacities of tank farms for storing oil, and the issue of emissions from Russian refineries is a research gap in this area. The aim of this study was to identify the dynamics of changes in the amounts of emissions from tank farms for oil storage in Russian refineries. A study period from 2008 to 2018 was considered. The contributions of this study include the development of methods for estimating emissions for the regions. In this study, an approach was developed that, based on the existing expressions of the unified methodology, allows us to estimate the emissions of tank farms at a regional scale.The results showed that the greatest emissions occurred in the Volga Federal District. The volume of emissions from that region exceeded the total emissions of the next three districts: the Central, Siberian, and Northwestern Federal Districts of Russia. The largest growth rate of emissions was demonstrated by the refineries of the Southern Federal District, exceeding those of the Central, Siberian, and Northwestern Federal Districts during the study period. In the Far Eastern and Ural federal districts of the country, annual emissions were much lower. During the study period, the total accumulated emissions exceeded 2.5 million tons; therefore, the country needs to carry out work to modernize the tank farms of oil refineries in accordance with the proposed direction.

The article presents the results of a study of the dynamics of the main indicators of the socio-economic development of the federal districts of Russia for the period 2005–2020, which caused the presence of problems associated with the uneven spatial development of the country and correlated with the standard of living of the population. It is shown that the excessive unevenness of the economic development of regions has the most negative effect on their social condition. As part of the study, the analysis of socio-economic indicators in the context of federal districts was carried out on the basis of statistical data from Rosstat, which ensured their comparability for different periods of observation. Long-term trends have been identified, indicating a steady increase in the level of differentiation of a number of indicators between federal districts. The study allowed us to identify three groups of federal districts of Russia, showing: accelerated growth of indicators of socio-economic development above the average level in Russia; relatively insignificant growth rates; the increasing decline in indicators.

The main issue of this article is to analyze the space occupied, or not, by the curricular field in the curricular prescriptions of the Pedagogy courses of private Higher Education Institutions located in the Federal District, with high grades in the E-MEC system. The methodology used was: a) "state of the art" about the situation of the theme in databases in the period 2015-2022 and b) documentary analysis of the legal prescriptions. Preliminarily we point out the following results: a) there is an absence of research on the place of the curriculum in the initial training of pedagogues; b) recent national educational reforms point to a theoretical weakening and emptying of Pedagogy courses; c) the curricular studies were present in the documents of ten courses, with the status of compulsory curricular component and d) in the PPC'S of most institutions, the curriculum studies do not express an independent area. Meteorological phenomena are consequences of climate change that can be observed during the historical series to identify trends or changes in time series as water and energy transfer on the Earth’s surface and lower atmosphere. The objective of this article was to analyze the rainfall irregularities in the Midwest region and how this aff ects the springs of the Federal District, resulting in a considerable decrease in the state’s reservoirs, being seen as a determining factor, the La Niña phenomenon, responsible for rainfall irregularities in the Midwest. The dynamics of indicators of innovation activities of Russia’s federal districts over 2005– 2019 has been studied. During this period, there has been an increase in the number of organisations that carried out research activities, and also in the total domestic expenditure on research and development. The number of new production technologies and the volume of innovative products produced has increased, and the payback rate on research and development costs has risen in all regions. The trends of decreasing in the innovation activities of organisations and a significant reduction in the number of personnel employed in the field of research and development have been detected. The share of new products in the total volume of products shipped remains low. This situation requires national and regional authorities to take appropriate regulatory actions.

In this year of 2022, when Brazilians celebrate 200 years of Independence, this paper presents an aspect of the celebrations of the Centenary of Independence that took place in 1922: the launching of Planaltina's Fundamental Stone, which took place on September 7, a monument recognized as heritage by the District Federal Government. As methodology, we privilege the analysis of heritage as an institutional practice of organizing information from the administrative process that recognized the Planaltina's undamental Stone as heritage, established in 1981 and concluded in 1982 by the Department of Education and Culture of the District Federal Government. Based on the analysis of the supporting documents of the administrative process, we identified mechanisms of narrative construction of Planaltina's undamental Stone as heritage and also about the transfer of the Brazilian capital to Brasília. The documents that made up the administrative process were analyzed from a perspective of social/institutional construction. By observing the administrative process through the information organization mechanisms, we analyzed the pieces of the process and the relationship established between them. As a main result of this analysis, we were able to observe how the constitution of this dossier instituted the heritage itself, in this case Planaltina's undamental Stone, while a narrative for the transfer of the federal capital to the hinterland was built. In this article, we argue that the degree of political stability is a critical element in the evolution of media systems. In our view, it is the causal mechanism allowing for the political parallelism of media systems. We argue that political stability has three main effects on media systems: it consolidates the operating principles and mechanisms of the public sphere; it gives clear and self-assumed political identities to media actors; and it allows for the establishment of predictable, long-term professional relationships within the media system as well as between journalists and their sources. To test this hypothesis, we compare Bahia and the Federal District, two Brazilian subnational units that differ essentially by the degree of political stability they experienced between 2003 and 2018. The oil production and refining processes are directly dependent on historical and political processes. The world wars of the 20th century were catalysts for the transformation of oil as the main energy resource. The capacity of enterprises in the oil refining industry is important for the development of politics and economies of states because oil products are one of the most sought after goods. Addressing the problem of capacity development for oil resource processing at Russian refineries is a relevant topic to build an effective policy for the distribution of global oil resources. The purpose of this paper is to identify the distribution trends in oil resource refining capacities in Russia. The developed method allows us to determine the dynamics of refining capacities in all regions of the country, establish the contributions of refinery groups to regional and countrywide capacities, and identify trends in the capacity concentrations of refineries and regions. The timeline that was used for the research period is 2009–2019. The results of the study showed increases in processing capacity in all federal districts. By 2019, the Volga Federal District provided the largest annual contribution to the countrywide capacity. The Southern Federal District moved up from the fourth to second position. It was followed by the Siberian, Central, Northwestern, Far Eastern, and Ural Federal Districts. The trends in the distribution capacities across the country indicate the prospect for building additional refineries in the Asian part of Russia. Rosneft was the leader, while Gazprom retained the second position. Independent refiners took the third position in terms of total refinery capacity, with Lukoil in the fourth position. Furthermore, Surgut-NG, Tatneft, Mini refineries, and NOVATEK followed the top four positions. The changes in concentration ratios indicated the increased monopolization of the refinery market. A decisive contribution to this process was due to by Rosneft’s takeover of TNK-BP and Bashneft’s capacities. The changes in regional concentrations were influenced by the changes in processing capacities of the Volga Federal District.

Key approaches to territorial management known in the world have been tried (tested) in Russia since the time of the Moscow Principality. It is almost impossible to propose new ones, but previous practices are becoming new in signifcance. In the specifc economic and political conditions of 2021, several initiatives were announced and serious decisions were made regarding territorial administration in the Russian Federation. This proposal is devoted to this article.

The article analyses the dynamics of foreign direct investments in Russia and the world. Developed countries act as net lenders. Developing countries are borrowers in the investment capital market. The paper reveals the trend of reducing the balance of foreign direct investments in Russia, especially after the introduction of sanctions in 2014. Assessment of the structure of foreign direct investments by Federal Districts shows the presence of territorial imbalances in the distribution of foreign capital. The largest volume of foreign direct investments is in the Central Federal District. In the Krasnodar Territory, the balance of foreign direct investments is positive, but has an uneven dynamics. The authors make conclusions about the need to stimulate the inflow of foreign direct investments both at the level of Russia and in the Krasnodar Territory.

In this paper, the authors consider the factors influencing the introduction of advanced production technologies in the federal districts of the Russian Federation. A statistical analysis was carried out on the topic under study, as a result of which the indicators of the level of innovative activity of organizations and the share of innovative products in the total mass of goods were studied. It is revealed that the Volga Federal District is the leader, the North Caucasus, Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts are among the laggards. The probability of the influence of individual risk factors that have a negative impact on the introduction of production technologies at enterprises is calculated. It is revealed that the main risk factors are difficulties in hiring qualified personnel, low return on investment or a long payback period and the complexity of integrating technologies into the organization's processes.

The purpose of this article is to examine the influence of the media on perceptions of fear of crime among residents of the Brazilian Federal District. The study explores the influence of audience characteristics on the relationship between the media and fear of crime. We also analyzed the impact of different types of media (television, newspapers, and social media) on fear of crime. Research shows that the media's influence on fear of crime depends on the type of media, due to the differences in content and the characteristics of the audience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

At the present stage, urban economists widely use Zipf ’s law to assess the urban regional and national systems. Zipf ’s law or the rank–size rule is a pattern linking the population of a city with its place in the hierarchy of cities arranged in descending order depending on their size. Using Zipf ’s law, the study aims to analyse the uniformity of the distribution of population, employees, enterprises and organisations in Russian cities. The research is based on the data of the Federal State Statistics Service. We selected a sample of cities from each Federal District and Russia as a whole. The sample included settlements with the status cities and more than 100 thousand inhabitants in 2016. The maximum values of the Zipf coefficient were calculated for the indicators “population size” and “average annual number of employees of enterprises”. Regarding the Federal Districts, the estimated Zipf coefficients ranges from 0.5 to 0.9 in terms of the population size; from 0.4 to 0.8 in terms of the average annual number of the employees of enterprises; from 0.4 to 0.8 in terms of the number of enterprises and organisations. For reducing the identified interregional differentiation in the Federal Districts of Russia, we advise to develop small and medium cities. Further research should focus on the application of Zipf ’s law to create a method for determining the optimal size of a city in a territorial space.

The importance of markets in promoting rural development points to the need to identify the most relevant capital for the commercialization of family farm production. We seeks to verify the extent to which livelihood assets help family farmers commercialize their production through research among 125 family farmers settled in agricultural lands redistributed by the government during land reform, in the Federal District, Brazil. Data were collected in the field using a structured form in the Likert scale format and assessed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). We show that livelihoods have a positive and significant influence on commercialization, and that human and social capital are the major contributors to the commercialization of family farm production. Our findings show the need to reinforce public policies focused on training of farmers in market opportunities and the promotion of a collective organization aimed at fostering commercialization as a rural development strategy. Objective: To diagnose the economic aspects and the productive force of the Administrative Regions of the Federal District, in the light of the characteristics that make up the concept of smart cities. Methodology: Secondary data on the economy were extracted from the Federal District government website referring to information on the planning of government activities, the Pluriannual Plan, and Budget Balance, period 2016-2019. As for the productive force, the information was obtained from the Federal Revenue website, called Cnpj.info, from more than 263 thousand business entities, in 2018. Based on content analysis techniques and spatial analysis, the organizational entities were grouped into five categories of technological intensity, classified by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as high, medium-high, medium, medium-low, and low technological intensity. Originality/Relevance: The study is justified considering information on the development characteristics of the regions contributes to the improvement of public policies in the construction of modern cities, in addition to identifying flaws and opportunities, reproducing good examples for the understanding research on this current matter. Results: The mapping made it possible to know the types of companies and their potential, as well as the economic and innovative competences in the Federal District. In 2018, there were 112 business entities classified as having a high level of technology intensity. Micro-enterprises concentrated most companies at all technological levels, totaling 178,289. The Federal District still has an incipient productive force regarding the process of building a smart city. Social contributions / for management: It is intended to contribute to decision-making in the field of public policies aimed at economic and social actions in the Federal District, especially with a view to the field of production and innovation that enable the structuring of a smart city in line with the new global development. Like other institutions, libraries were not prepared to respond to everything that the Covid-19 pandemic brought: social isolation, remote work, suspension of academic activities, uncertainties about the return to the new normal, etc. This paper analyzes information from six academic libraries in the Federal District (Brazil), describing what were the first measures and steps that libraries implemented to keep up with the current life of their users. Semi-structured interviews and document research with content analysis were applied, identifying the following results: (1) Adoption of protocols and guides for users on security measures, libraries published documents with security measures, based on information from international and national institutions; (2) Use of social networks to promote services and communicate with users, with Instagram being the main ally for the dissemination of services and for being in contact with users. The influence of migration to socioeconomic development in the regions has been described. The problems and the ways for improvement of migration policy has been presentated.

In the article questions and problems of optimization of banking network in Russia due to revocation of licenses of banks, their sanitation, financial improvement and consolidation (sale, absorption, integration, merge, crushing) banks, self-liquidation or elimination on decision of the courts are considered. On the basis of studying and the analysis of these factors, the saved-up domestic and foreign experience offers on optimization of number of banks are provided in the country.

Micro and small enterprises, considering only the Brazilian formal environment, face a low survival rate. In this context of competitiveness and high bankruptcy rates, systematized innovation, despite being a powerful tool for the maintenance of business, is often not a priority for micro and small entrepreneurs. Due to the small number of studies on innovation in MSEs, this research presents the Innovation Radar case, which aimed to measure the degree of innovation in micro and small enterprises in the year 2016. This study discuss a sample of 3.708 enterprises’ reality, approximately 4% of the MSE population of the Federal District. The general results pointed to incipience in MSEs with respect to innovation and the internal environment of innovation, showing fragility of the management process and justifying the participation of external agents such as Sebrae to foster innovative initiatives

Balance is one of the economics’ cornerstone concepts. Researchers identify various types of balance, including commodity-money, industry, territorial, inter-period, etc. The universal representation of socio-economic systems in the form of a complex of object-oriented, project-oriented, environment-oriented and process-oriented systems enables to question the system balance, i.e., whether the scales of these subsystems are proportionate in the system. Furthermore, the concept of a system balance of the economy of the Russian Federation subjects, federal districts and the country as a whole appears. The paper aims to quantify the system balance of each subject and determine the current ratio of systemically balanced and unbalanced Russian subjects. The application of these correlations in the development of the Russian Federation’s socio-economic strategy will allow the increase of the socio-economic space’s connectivity. Moreover, it will impact the socio-economic policy’s continuity and targeting over time and the national economy’s sustainable development. Based on the provisions and methods of system economic theory, we evaluated the system balance of the Russian economy from a regional perspective. We calculated system balance index of the Russian Federation subjects, federal districts and the country as a whole. Then we identified groups of the Russian Federation subjects of with a high, medium and low degree of system balance. Further, we investigated the dynamics of the structure of groups of regions-leaders and regions-outsiders according to the degree of system balance for the period from 2012 to 2016. We created the heat map of the Russian economy’s system balance from a regional perspective. Finally, we created the guidelines for the system economic policy for territorial development, aimed at increasing the number of system balanced regions. The article justifies the need to include a section reflecting the proportions between the development of the object-oriented, environment- oriented, process-oriented and project-oriented subsystems of the region in the strategy of the Russian Federation subjects.

Economy of knowledge is an economic formation, where today’s generation of young people will work. It is quite good that many scientists try to forecast what it will be like. The article studies different approaches to assessment of regional knowledge index. The authors put forward a new methodology of its estimation on the basis of key matrix determinant and its logarithming. To assess the knowledge index 16 indicators divided into 4 groups are used and they gave an opportunity to build a four-dimensional matrix. According to the author, this approach is more objective and can eliminate some inaccuracy of methods designed by other authors. On the basis of this methodology the knowledge index was estimated, which shows conditions for shaping economy of knowledge in Russian regions. The rating of federal districts and regions-leaders was built and regions-outsiders in respect of economy of knowledge shaping were identified. Indicators that exert the most serious effect (positive and negative) on the knowledge index of regions were found. More detailed results for the whole period of analysis – 2000–2015 – for all regions of the Russian Federation can be found in the Situational Center of the Russian Plekhanov University of Economics.

At the modern stage of globalization pressures, imbalance in the distribution of cities in territorial space poses a threat to Russia’s economic development and social stability, which actualizes economic research on this issue. The purpose of the article is to analyze the distribution of cities within the boundaries of federal districts with the application of the Zipf law. I have chosen this law as it allows connecting the population of the city with its place in the hierarchy of the urban systems in regions, federal districts and the country, in general. The Zipf law holds if the distribution of the population is uniform. The information base is the data of the Federal State Statistics Service. For the study, I have formed a sample of cities for each Federal District. This sample included 10 most populous cities by 2015. The hypothesis about the lognormal distribution of cities within the borders of the Russian federal districts is tested using the method of least squares. The calculations determined the estimated parameter K in the range from 0.6 to 1.4, which demonstrates the uneven distribution of cities within the borders of the federal districts of Russia (the exception is Volga Federal District K = 1). In the Central Federal District, Northwestern Federal District and Ural Federal District, the population is concentrated in large cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ekaterinburg. In the North Caucasian Federal District, Privolzhsky Federal District, Siberian Federal District and Far Eastern Federal District, the population is disproportionately dispersed. In the territory of Russia, there is no intermediate group of cities with the population from 2000 to 5000 thousand people. The identification of the peculiarities of the distribution of cities within the borders of the federal districts of Russia is necessary for the development of scientifically substantiated recommendations of social and economic policies. The conducted research is a stage in the development of methodological tools for choosing the location of industrial production in the territories and for determining the optimal size of a city.

Achatina (Lissachatina) fulica is present in most Brazilian States. This paper aims at providing a diagnosis of the occurrence and dispersion of A. fulica in the Distrito Federal. Pages and posts for social medias were created to identify areas of A. fulica occurrences. In addition, interviews and active searches at commercial plant nurseries were undertaken. Collection took place from March 2019 to February 2020 and January 2021. The sampled areas were categorized into commercial nurseries, Paranoá Lake shore, other urban areas, and agricultural areas. Commercial nurseries were identified as the main sources of A. fulica in the Distrito Federal

This paper approaches Brasilia not so much from the usual perspective of its architectural and urbanistic configuration, but above all as a swift and substantial real estate enterprise developed at territorial scale. It analyses some of the methods proposed to assign plots and land parcels in the future Federal District since the end of the 1940s and focuses on the actions taken by Novacap (government agency in charge of planning and building the new capital city) as real estate developer, between 1956 and 1960. The aim is to reveal the rationale underlying those actions, especially when organizing uses and occupation in different spaces of the territory, by allocating them to specific social groups.
