Cancer, which is the second most common cause of death after cardiovascular diseases, is one of the most important health problems of today. Discovery of effective treatments and drugs are important in cancer treatment. The COVID-19 epidemic, which broke out in Wuhan province of China in December 2019 and is considered as a pandemic worldwide, affected millions of people. The SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes this epidemic, affects the lungs, heart, brain, kidneys, gastrointestinal system, ovaries and testicles and various drugs are used in the treatment. In this study, we aimed to determine the cytotoxic effect of favipiravir, dornase alfa and ivermectin, which are drugs used in the treatment of COVID-19, on human lung cancer cell line (A549). Favipiravir, dornase alfa and ivermectin concentrations were prepared in doubly increasing doses (0.5-64 µg/mL). The prepared concentrations were tested on human A549 cells. After 24 hours of incubation, the cytotoxic effects of the drugs on cancer cells were detected by the MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) method. The results were given as % viability. It was determined that favipiravir, dornase alfa and ivermectin significantly decreased the cell viability in lung cancer cell line with increasing application doses (p lt;0.05).

Objective: To evaluate biceps tendon long head (LHBT) tendinopathy cases using shear wave elastography (SWE) and superb microvascular imaging (SMI) methods, compare the findings with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, and make an early diagnosis of tendinopathy. Method: Twenty patients diagnosed with LHBT tendinopathy on MRI and 20 healthy volunteers with normal LHBT on MRI were prospectively evaluated using the SWE and SMI methods. Quantitative measurements of LHBT hardness by SWE were performed in kilopascals (kPa). SMI values were determined using a rating system. A four-stage grading system was used as follows: grade 0 (no significant vascularity focus), grade 1 (1-2 focal vascularity focus), grade 2 (1 linear or more than 2 focal vascularity focus), and grade 3 (more than 1 linear vascularity focus). Results: While the average SWE values for the biceps tendon with tendinopathy were measured as 38.715 and 37.685 kPa in the longitudinal and transverse planes, respectively, the average SWE values of the control group were measured as 19.385 and 18.41 kPa in the longitudinal and transverse planes, respectively. Introduction: YouTube videos are commonly used by patients to learn more about their diseases. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of YouTube video content on lateral epicondylitis (LE). Methods: We performed a search on YouTube using the keyword “lateral epicondylitis”. The video source, video content, video duration, time since upload, number of views, comments, likes, and dislikes were recorded and evaluated. The popularity of the videos was determined using the Video Power Index (VPI). The quality and instructional value of the video were evaluated using the Global Quality Score (GQS), Lateral Epicondylitis Video Quality Score (LEVS), and DISCERN. Results: Fifty-two of the 200 videos reviewed met the inclusion criteria. Introduction:This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of low-level laser treatment (LLLT) for treating chronic plantar fasciitis (PF).Methods:The records of 60 patients with PF were retrospectively examined in this research. Thirty patients who have been applied LLLT and given exercise program constituted a treatment group. On the other side, 30 patients who have been given exercises but not applied LLLT was selected as a control group. Along with exercise, the treatment group underwent a 10-day continuous, 12-minute, 1.6 W, 808 nm wavelength diode laser treatment using galium-aluminum-arsenide. Amaç:İnmeli hastalarda konvansiyonel rehabilitasyon programı (KRP) ile kombine edilen pasif nöromusküler elektriksel stimülasyonun (NMES); üst ekstremite (ÜE) motor ve fonksiyonel iyileşme, spastisite, ağrı ve günlük yaşam aktivitelere katılma becerisini iyileştirme açısından etkinliğini araştırmaktır.Yöntemler:Otuz hemiplejik hasta randomize olarak 2 eşit gruba ayrıldı. Çalışma grubuna 20 seans KRP’ye ek olarak omuz kuşağı kasları ve el bilek ekstansörlerine pasif NEMS uygulandı. Kontrol grubuna ise sadece 20 seans KRP uygulandı. Değerlendirmeler tedavi başlangıcında, tedavi ortasında, tedavi sonunda ve tedavi bitiminden 2 ay sonra yapıldı. Sonuç ölçütleri olarak; Brunnstrom’un ÜE ve el evrelemesi, Fugl- Meyer Üst Ekstremite Motor Fonksiyon Skoru (FMA), Modifiye Ashworth skalası (MAS), vizüyel analog skala (VAS) ve Barthel indeksi kullanıldı.Bulgular:Çalışma grubunda tedavi sonrasında ve 2 ay sonraki kontrol değerlendirmesinde üst ekstremite ve el Brunnstrom evrelemesinde, FMA ve VAS skorunda istatistiksel olarak anlamlı iyileşme görüldü. Kontrol grubunda FMA toplam skorunda tedavi sonu ve 2 ay sonraki kontrolde anlamlı düzeyde iyileşme saptandı. MAS skorları kontrol grubunda tedavi sonunda ve 2 ay sonra daha yüksekti, ancak değerler gruplar arasında anlamlı farklılık göstermedi.Sonuç:İnmeli hastalarda KRP’sine eklenen omuz kuşağı ve el bilek ekstansörlerine uygulanan pasif NEMS’nin tek başına konvansiyonel programa üstün olmadığı görülmekle beraber fonksiyonel ve motor iyileşmeye katkıda bulunduğu için nörolojik rehabilitasyona yardımcı olarak kullanılması gerektiği kanaatindeyiz.

Aim:Fibromyalgia is a disease that is characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, sleep disorders, fatigue and decreased pain threshold. The purpose of our study was to investigate the effect of physiotherapy on pain, depression and neck functions in patients with chronic cervical disc hernia accompanied by fibromyalgia.Materials and Methods:In total, 20 chronic cervical disc hernia patients who were diagnosed with fibromyalgia according to the 2010 American College of Rheumatology diagnostic criteria and 20 chronic cervical disc hernia patients without fibromyalgia were included in our study. Visual analogue scale (VAS), Beck depression inventory (BDI), and neck disability index (NDI) were performed to evaluate pain, depression and neck functions respectively. Patients were evaluated before therapy, immediately after therapy, and at 1-month control follow-up.Results:In both groups, VAS, BDI and NDI scores were significantly decreased in the period after therapy and at 1-month control follow-up compared to the pre-treatment period. No statistical difference was observed between two groups in terms of VAS, BDI and NDI scores before and after treatment. However, we found that VAS, BDI and NDI scores of cervical disc hernia patients with fibromyalgia were significantly higher than cervical disc hernia patients without fibromyalgia before treatment, after treatment and at 1-month control follow-up.Conclusion:We demonstrated that the effect of physical therapy on pain, depression, and neck function was the same in the group with fibromyalgia compared to the group without fibromyalgia.
