Due to the characteristics of high-speed movement of vehicles, authentication between vehicles and roadside units (RSUs) needs to be performed quickly. Vehicles can obtain the authentication information of the relevant RSUs from the certification authority (CA) in advance through route planning. Fast authentication can be performed when the vehicle enters the RSU range. However, in most of the current vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) fast authentication schemes, when the vehicle requests the authentication information of an RSU from the CA, the vehicle often needs to provide the CA with the travel path information, which leads to the CA easily obtaining the travel path of the vehicle. In addition, the CA encrypts the private keys of RSUs and sends them to vehicles as authentication keys, and the vehicles can obtain the private key information of RSUs directly after decryption. Once the private keys of RSUs are leaked, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) can be attacked by malicious access. In order to protect the confidentiality of RSU private keys and the route privacy of vehicles, we propose a privacy-preserving V2I fast authentication scheme in VANETs. The scheme realizes the confidentiality of RSU private keys and the route privacy protection of vehicles by improving the oblivious transfer (OT) algorithm. Security analysis proves that our scheme has good privacy and attack resistance. 6G technology is now attracting many scientific researchers due to its prominent features including high mobility, high data rate, high operating frequency, and ultra-low end-to-end delay. Compared to the 5G, 6G has certain advantages that can transform smart healthcare to a new advanced intelligent healthcare system, where multiple issues and concerns of the services (e.g., slow ambulance response) are effectively resolved. In such a communication system, patients and service providers communicate with each other via an open internet channel. Since the healthcare data is important and very sensitive, security and privacy in the healthcare network become prominent. In this paper, we introduce a 6G-aided intelligent healthcare environment. Our work also proposes a solution called Centerless User-Controlled Single Sign-On (CL-UCSSO) for achieving a convenient and cost-saving communication in a multi-server system constructed. A three-factor mechanism (combining smart card, password and biometrics) and time bound property are integrated to design the protocol with fast authentication that allows patients and providers to efficiently establish secure communications. Security proof of the proposed protocol is provided using well-known verification tools including RoR model, AVISPA simulation and BAN logic. Results of performance comparisons on various aspects show that our work provides more functionalities and incurs less cost compared with the related works.

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) significantly improves the efficiency and safety of driving since it reduces traffic jams and avoiding accidents, in which the necessary security goals are guaranteed using cryptographic method. In reality, the computation efficiency is very important in implementing the protocol in VANETs. When a vehicle with high speed enters in the coverage of a roadside unit (RSU), the computation overhead of authentication not only affects the communication experience, but also downgrades the driving safety. The feasible solution is to share a message in advance between vehicle and RSU with the help of certification authority (CA), however, CA can deduce the vehicle’s route that should be privacy. In this paper, a privacy-preserving and lightweight V2I authentication (PLVA) protocol is proposed. Specifically, in the beginning phase, all roadside units in a region are converted to a vector using the Moore curve technique, then, a vehicle deduces the RSUs’ information on its planning route using BGN homomorphic encryption before the vehicle begins its trip, meanwhile, CA knows nothing about the route plan although it assists the above process. With the deduced RSUs’ information, fast authentication is achieved between vehicle and each RSU on its route. Electronic healthcare (e-health) has gained more and more research attention in recent years, due to its flexibility and convenience. E-health is efficiently enabled by telecare medicine information system (TMIS). TMIS provides seamless transfer and timely sharing of medical information for specific healthcare services. Since communications in TMIS are carried out through unreliable channels, data security and user privacy concerns become prominent. With traditional single-server architecture, users must store massive credentials, which causes inefficient communication and significant overhead. Moreover, user credentials in previously proposed schemes are stored at server side, suffering potential risks. Our work proposes a three-factor user-controlled single sign-on (UCSSO) with fast authentication and privacy protection for TMIS. The contributions of this paper are as follows. Our work integrates three factors including password, smart card and biometrics in authentication procedure, for providing a high-security and privacy-preserved communication. We introduce single sign-on solution that allows users to log in to multiple servers using a single password. User-controlled mechanism is proposed to address insider attacks and the risk that registration center may be compromised. The proposed scheme is designed with fast authentication mechanism that helps to efficiently establishes new session key. Our work is proved secure using BAN logic, ROR model, and AVISPA toolset. The results of performance comparison show that our scheme provides more security properties and bears the least overhead, compared with competitive schemes.

Wireless sensor networks described as an emerging new technology with a very promising future. Advances made in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are the merging of advanced electronic and wireless technologies. Due to the popularity gained by the wireless environment, Security is the main concern. Node authentication without compromising lifespan of the networks is practically a daunting task. This research work introduces a new model, IBE-ECC that administers the energy of sensor nodes with faster authentication process. Signature verification model is deployed to achieve faster authentication process. Nevertheless, the public key-based strategies eliminate the security process but their verification process takes larger time. Therefore, authentication speed is a major constraint of our research endeavor. The proposed scheme is design to achieve high security and fast authentication with energy efficiency. It uses identity-based encryption on elliptic curve cryptography and a user authentication with an energy efficient key management. Further, to improve the speed of the authentication, it reduces the signature size so that it would accelerate signature verification faster. Hence, the proposed scheme will provide a secure key management, energy efficiency, fast authentication and additionally, computation overhead and communication costs are minimized. Finally, the experimental result demonstrates that the proposed strategy obtains 4797 ms higher execution efficiency and 45. 53% lower computation costs than existing schemes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In multiowner wireless networks, access points (APs) are owned and operated by different administrations, leading to significant authentication delays during handoff between APs. We propose to exploit the trust between the owners of neighboring APs for reducing the authentication delay. In the proposed authentication scheme, neighboring APs that trust each other share the security key for the visiting node to avoid lengthy authentication routines each time the visiting node switches APs. The performance of the proposed trust-based authentication scheme is evaluated using a Markov model. Using numerical experiments, we first study a basic scenario where mobile nodes are not aware of the trust networks that exist in a given neighborhood. Subsequently, we consider an advanced scenario where a mobile node functionality is augmented to discover the trust network so as to minimize roaming beyond the trusted APs, We find that, even with the basic implementation, the average number of full authentications needed for a roaming mobile reduces linearly as the likelihood of two neighboring APs trusting each other increases.
