Improving the academic performance of students is one of the main concerns of authorities in education fields. The science of psychology and education experts has tried to help research and studies, to identify factors affecting the academic performance of students. Previously cognitive abilities as one of the most important determinants of academic performance is recognized, but gradually it became clear non-cognitive factors such as emotional intelligence play prominent role in the academic performance of students. Children who have high emotional intelligence, in the use of problem-solving skills show higher abilities, which results in improving the cognitive ability of these students. The aim of this study provide a model predicting academic performance based on the components of emotional intelligence, problem-solving skills and achievement motivation among students of ordinary and smart school. The study in term of method is predictive- correlational. The population in this study consisted of all high school students in Tehran using multi-stage cluster sampling 583 students were selected as sample. The results showed that the direct effect of emotional intelligence and achievement motivation on students 'academic performance is significant, but direct effect of problem-solving skills on students' academic performance is not significant. The direct effect of emotional intelligence and achievement motivation on students' academic performance in smart schools is significantly higher than its impact on the academic performance of students in ordinary schools. There was any significant direct difference between problem solving skills and academic performance of students in smart and ordinary schools. So it can be concluded that the role of smart schools in important variables such as emotional intelligence, achievement motivation and academic performance makes the role of smart schools brighter and stronger.

Objective: The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between reward and punishment sensitivities and positive and negative emotion regulation strategies among university students. Methods: A total of 189 students of one of the universities in Tehran City, Iran, were selected by accessible random sampling. Then, the emotion regulation scale, attention control scale, experience questionnaire, emotional regulation questionnaire, positive emotion response questionnaire, and punishment and reward sensitivity questionnaire were distributed among them to collect data. The obtained data were analyzed in SPSS software v. 26 using the Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results: The Pearson correlation coefficient showed a significant relationship between punishment and reward sensitivity and positive and negative emotion regulation strategies. Multiple regression analysis showed that sensitivity to reward and punishment could predict positive emotion regulation strategies properly. Multiple regression analysis results indicated that sensitivity to reward and punishment could also predict negative emotion regulation strategies. Conclusion: Sensitivity to punishment and reward were significant and common factors in emotion regulation. These results show that activation as a technique plays a significant role in the behavior that enhances the individual's search for reward. Objective: We investigated the relationship between the Reinforcement Sensitivity Theory (RST) traits and emotion dysregulation signs, including social anxiety, general anxiety, and depression in students. Methods: A total of 189 students of the public universities in Tehran were selected by convenience sampling and answered the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale, Social Interaction Anxiety Scale, and Punishment Sensitivity Questionnaire and Reward Sensitivity. Data analysis was done using SPSS v. 26 software by Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Results: Pearson correlation coefficient showed a significant relationship between punishment and reward sensitivity and symptoms of emotional dysregulation. Also, multiple regression analysis showed that reward and punishment sensitivity could predict emotion dysregulation. Conclusion: Punishment hypersensitivity and reward hyposensitivity were higher-order, shared factors for emotion dysregulation signs, including depression, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety. These findings emphasize the effect of behavioral activation as a technique to increase reward pursuit by the individual and suggested that this technique is able to increase reward-seeking and consequently, improve emotional regulation. Background: In Iran, traffic accidents and deaths from traffic accidents are among the highest in the world, and generally, driver behavior rather than technical failures or environmental conditions are responsible for traffic accidents. In a previous study, we showed that among young Iranian male traffic offenders, poor mental health status, along with aggression, predicted poor driving behavior. The aims of the present study were twofold, to determine whether this pattern could be replicated among non-traffic offenders, and to compare the mental health status, aggression, and driving behavior of male traffic offenders and non-offenders. Methods: A total of 850 male drivers (mean age =34.25 years, standard deviation =10.44) from Kermanshah (Iran) took part in the study. Of these, 443 were offenders (52.1%) and 407 (47.9%) were non-offenders with lowest driving penalty scores applying for attaining an international driving license. Participants completed a questionnaire booklet covering socio-demographic variables, traits of aggression, health status, and driving behavior. Results: Compared to non-offenders, offenders reported higher aggression, poorer mental health status, and worse driving behavior. Among non-offenders, multiple regression indicated that poor health status, but not aggression, independently predicted poor driving behavior. Conclusion: Compared to non-offenders, offenders reported higher aggression, poorer health status and driving behavior. In the present study, we explored the extent to which aggressive traits, health status, and sociodemographic variables explain driving behavior among Iranian male traffic offenders. Method: A total of 443 male driving offenders (mean age: M =31.40 years, standard deviation =9.56) from Kermanshah (Iran) took part in the study. Participants completed a questionnaire booklet covering sociodemographic variables, traits of aggression, health status, and driving behavior. Results: Poor health status, such as symptoms of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and social dysfunction, and also higher levels of trait aggression explained poor driving behavior. Multiple regressions indicated that poor health status, but not aggression, independently predicted poor driving behavior. Conclusion: Results suggest that health status concerns are associated with poor driving behavior. Prevention and intervention might therefore focus on drivers reporting poor mental health status. Background : Quality of life is a main outcome in psychosomatic disorders. Several psychological factors are mentioned for predicting the quality of life in patients who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between type D personality and quality of life in patients with IBS. Materials and Methods: This study enrolled 90 (52 women) IBS patients who referred to the gastroenterology clinics of Imam Khomeini and Laleh hospitals from September to December 2012. We used the Type D Personality and IBS Quality of Life questionnaires to evaluate patients. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation and multi-variable regression models. Results: Overall, 61% of patients were H. pylori positive. The mean anti-Thyroid peroxidase level in the H. pylori positive group We observed a relationship between type D personality and quality of life in patients with IBS (r=0.504, p<0.01). The results showed a 26% variation in quality of life predicted by type D personality (p<0.01, R²=.26). Conclusion: According to the results, type D personality is one of the predictors of quality of life in patients with IBS. Therefore, it is important to consider psychological factors when choosing the appropriate treatment for IBS patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
