Purpose: The objective of the research study is to critically analyze the factors impeding time management towards students’ academic performance achievement. Design/methodology/approach: The study was carried out using a well-defined questionnaire collecting samples from 164 undergraduate students studying in the Faculty of Business, Sohar University, Sultanate of Oman from a population of 700 undergraduate students. For the study, the cluster-sampling method was adopted. SPSS was used to perform the statistical analysis. Findings: The empirical results reveal that none of the claimed factors related to time management influence the academic performance of the students. The students’ performance is purely based on their efforts and on their own self-management. Thus, it was concluded that it is the responsibility of the students to manage their time for which they should make their own plans. Practical Implications: The study confirms that the student's stay at the hostel facilitates them to improve their academic performances. It is also interpreted that the students are carried away by the domestic work during their stay at home, parents should take utmost not to deprived of their time for study. Parents should make necessary arrangements to reduce their travel time. Students should have their own self-control and self-commitment to manage and plan their own time for study purposes. Originality/value: The research work is of its first kind as it focuses on the impact of time management factors on the academic performances of the students.

—Intact rock specimens are routinely tested in the laboratory for uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) which is an important design parameter in rock engineering. However, laboratory measurement is always expensive and time consuming and is generally not available as part of the small projects. Alternatively, indirect tests are relied to estimate UCS of various rocks through developing simple correlations among the results of uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and indirect tests on the same rock. In the present study, efforts were made to make such correlations for Sakesar Limestone of Central Salt Range. In the study cored rock specimens were tested for UCS tests, Point Load tests (PLT) and Schmidt Rebound Hammer Tests (SRHT). All the tests’ results were analysed using statistical techniques to find their interrelationships. The developed relations indicated strong correlations between UCS and Point Load Index (PLI), and UCS and Schmidt Rebound number (Rn).From these relations, UCS is predictable from PLT and SRHT with a reasonable precision.

Present study focuses on the geotechnical evaluation of rock instability along Islamabad -Muzaffarabad Dual Carriageway (IMDC). Review of the recent literature helped devising the methodology and accordingly activities for field studies were planned. Field studies included identifications of instability prone sites, recording of slope geometry, undertaking discontinuity surveys to record characteristics of the discontinuity for onward slope/rock mass characterization and classification, and rock/soil sampling at the representative locations for each rock/ soil units. Some field testing on rock samples was also undertaken. The field data was empirically and kinematically analyzed for the appraisal of slope failures and quality of rock mass. As outcome of the kinematic analyses, 38% sections have potential for plane and wedge failures. The rock quality lies in fair category as the result of rock mass rating (RMR). The slopes are partially stable to completely unstable according to slope mass rating (SMR). In view of the stability assessment of the studied sites and prevailing failure mechanisms, appropriate remedial measures were proposed for short as well long-term stability comprising rock benching, scaling off of loose rock blocks on the slopes, widening and periodic cleaning of catchment ditches, rehabilitation of existing retaining walls, shotcreting and rock bolting.

Fossil fuel is main source of energy and responsible for one third of the total carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Global energy demand has been raised significantly due to increase in population, rapid growth of economies, emerging technologies and industrial revolution. This increase shows no signs of slowing. Now, pressure has been raised on the developed nations to reduce the CO2 emissions because the consequences of global climate change are potentially severe. Atmospheric CO2 can be reduced by capturing emissions from power plants or chemical units and storing them into the underground rocks and aquifers. CO2 separation, appropriate site selection, transportation, secure storage and afterward monitoring are the core processes in sequestration technology. Economy is one of the biggest challenges for deploying this technology whereas captured CO2 can be utilized for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), Enhanced Coal Bed Methane Recovery (ECBM) and Enhanced Gas Recovery (EGR) etc to overcome on this problem. Underground uncertainty related risk assessment and management can control the major considerations for CO2 sequestration technology.

Delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) due to cerebral vasospasm following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) has long been recognized as a major source of morbidity and mortality. Early detection of cerebral vasospasm and identification of patients who are likely to become symptomatic is crucial to guide aggressive medical and/or endovascular interventions. Magnetic resonance imaging using arterial spin-label (ASL) is a noninvasive mean for assessing cerebral blood flow and is based on direct magnetic labeling of arterial blood water protons. The diagnostic role of ASL in acute ischemic stroke, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative disorders has been explained in multiple studies but its ability to predict vasospasm in aSAH has not been published before. The purpose of this study is to highlight the diagnostic implications of different perfusion patterns of ASL in patients with aSAH which can be utilized to prevent DCI in such patients when other commonly used modalities are not available, contraindicated, or fail to detect vasospasm.

Corticosteroids have an essential role in diverse physiological mechanisms, incorporating carbohydrate metabolism, protein catabolism and potent anti-inflammatory activity that created them fundamental to the therapy of a large number of autoimmune diseases. Anabolic steroid treatment has been related to a large number of side consequences: Impaired hepatic function, hypotrophic hypogonadism, cardiac involvement, thrombosis development, etc. Nevertheless, there are few instances revealed in the medical research of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage secondary to this trigger. In latest years there has been an enhancing in the use of corticosteroids in an abusive way for non-medical functions, particularly in the field of muscle-building, with the objective of gaining muscle mass rapidly and which is fretting as well as the unfavorable consequence earlier mentioned, by the disturbing of the long-term adverse consequence. Case Presentation: We provide the case of a teenage male bodybuilder patient who introduced diffuse alveolar hemorrhage due to several cycles of anabolic steroid treatment. The clinical picture began with dyspnea and hemoptysis associated with an X-ray and chest CT with compatible infiltrates. The patient introduced a positive reaction to the management of corticosteroids in high doses and after the detachment of the anabolic steroids, the normalization of the imaging tests took place, lacking presenting subsequent modifications in the pulmonary function. We contemplate that it is significant to keep in mind the diffuse alveolar hemorrhage as a situation connected with the use of anabolic steroids and it must be taken into account that the patient is precocious with dyspnea and hemoptysis. Paraneoplastic encephalitis that is limbic a rare condition, often related to small cellular lung cancer. Case report: We report in this book the cases with various age brackets, which presented with various signs which can be neurological as repetitive seizures or anterograde amnesia. Cerebral CT-scan, cerebral MRI and anti onco-neural paraneoplastic antibodies were suggesting the diagnosis of paraneoplastic encephalitis that is limbic. Etiological exploration triggers the diagnosis of locally advanced cell that is little of this lung. We began rapidly a curative protocol associating chemotherapy and sequential radiotherapy that is thoracic. We insist on the variety of the imaging findings, immunological analyses and conclude on therapy of this entity. Prognostic impact remains also uncertain. Seizures are a well-known complication of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) and occur most commonly in the immediate posthemorrhagic period. Most commonly used antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) for seizure prophylaxis in aSAH include phenytoin and levetiracetam. There is no reliable data available on the safety and efficacy of restricting AED prophylaxis only till the aneurysm is secured.We retrospectively chart reviewed patients admitted to our neurosciences intensive care unit (NICU) with aSAH during the past two years. Seizure incidence was studied in patients treated with phenytoin versus levetiracetam and in patients treated for 3-7 days vs. those where AED was discontinued immediately after aneurysm was secured.In 28 patients, AED prophylaxis was discontinued immediately after the aneurysm was secured, and in 21 patients, it was continued for 3-7 days. Of the 28 patients who received AED prophylaxis for less than or equal to two days, phenytoin was used in 20 patients and levetiracetam was used in eight patients. In patients receiving AED prophylaxis for 3-7 days, phenytoin was used in eight cases and levetiracetam was used in 13 cases. None of these patients had seizures reported during hospitalization or at three-month follow-up.Stopping the AED prophylaxis immediately after aneurysm coiling is not associated with increased risk of seizures. Seizures at presentation in patients with aSAH are not associated with development of epilepsy at three months. Both phenytoin and levetiracetam are well tolerated in patients with aSAH when limited to the immediate posthemorrhagic period.

Context. Polyacrylamide hydrogel (PAAG) has gained importance as a synthetic soft tissue filling agent. It has been commonly employed by physicians in Europe for facial contouring and soft tissue augmentation. Previously, PAAG is considered nontoxic and well tolerated with a few mild procedural complications. Case Presentation. A 26-year-old female was hospitalized for dry cough, worsening dyspnea, and chest discomfort after 3 hours of multiple PAAG injections in buttocks. The patient’s condition deteriorated and rapidly advanced to acute respiratory failure. Therein, the diagnosis of nonthrombotic pulmonary embolism (NTPE) was established on standard set of investigations. She was intubated; corticosteroid and empiric antibiotic therapy was initiated resulting in improvement of her condition. Subsequently, extubation was done, and she was discharged from the hospital after an uneventful recovery. On 1-month follow-up, the patient had no previous symptoms. Conclusion. This report implicates clinicians to maintain a high index of suspicion for NTPE in patients presenting with respiratory symptoms following PAAG usage.
