This study aimed to identify the best combination of corn technologies and varieties to increase yield, a study case in Torowang, South Sulawesi. The findings of this study used a split-plot design with three replications. The cultivation technology package is composed of planting spacing, chemical fertilizer, and biofertilizer, with three levels of treatment. Meanwhile, varieties treatment as subplot consisted of six varieties of treatment: Nasa 29, Bisi 18, Sinhas 1, NK7328, Pioneer 27, and ADV 313. The study determined the effectiveness of six agronomy and three chlorophyll pigment characters. Based on the results, varietal diversity dominates the differences in growth traits, both morphological and physiological. Varietal potential differs from the diversity of crop technology packages, which show no significant effect on all growth traits. However, the interaction between the growth package and varieties shows a significant effect, indicating that the crop technology package significantly affects the growth response. Yield was significantly correlated with plant height, 1,000 grain weight, peeled ear weight, chlorophyll content meter (CCM) chlorophyll, and NDVI-UAV. The total chlorophyll trait based on CCM showed a significant correlation with yield but did not correlate with NDVI-UAV. The study concluded that Pioneer 27 and ADV 313 varieties are recommended for cultivation in Takalar, with the combination of planting space of 75 × 20 cm + N:P:K fertilizer dose of 200:100:50 kg ha−1 + 25 kg of KNO3 + 5 cc L−1 of Eco-Farming fertilizer to Pioneer 27 (Pc2V5) recommended. Further dissemination is required in other regions.

The genotype evaluation process requires analysis of GxE interactions to ascertain the responsiveness of a genotype to various environments, including the development of early maturing rice. However, the concept of interaction is relatively specific to grain yield. In contrast, grain yield is highly polygenic, so assessment should be carried out with multivariate approaches. Therefore, multivariate assessment in evaluating GxE interactions should be developed, especially for early maturing rice genotypes. The study aimed to develop a comprehensive multivariate approach to improve the comprehensiveness and responsiveness of GxE interaction analysis. The study was conducted in Bone and Soppeng districts, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, in two seasons. The study used a randomized complete block design, where replications were nested across two seasons and locations. Two check varieties and five early maturing varieties were replicated three times in each environment. Based on this study, a new approach to GxE interaction analysis based on multiple regression index analysis, BLUP analysis, factor analysis, and path analysis was considered adequate, especially for evaluating early maturing rice. This approach combined days to harvest, biological yield, and grain yield in multiple linear regression with weighting based on the combination of all analyses. The effectiveness of the GxE interaction assessment was reflected by high coefficient of determination (R2) and gradient (b) values above 0.8 and 0.9, respectively. Inpari 13 (R2 = 0.9; b=1.05), Cakrabuana (R2 = 0.98; b=0.99), and Padjajaran (R2 = 0.95; b=1.07) also have good grain yield with days to harvesting consideration, namely 7.83 ton ha-1, 98.12 days; 7.37 ton ha-1, 95.52 days; and 7.29 ton ha-1, 97.23 days, respectively. Therefore, this index approach can be recommended in GxE interaction analysis to evaluate early maturing rice genotypes. The assembly of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) cannot be separated from the direction of qualitative character development. This is based on the role of qualitative characters in determining nutritional content and market segments. Therefore, the analysis of qualitative characters in the F 4 multiple cross cayenne pepper population needs to be done in determining the direction of line development in the next generation. The purpose of this study was to identify the inheritance pattern of qualitative traits and genotype grouping from a population of F4 multiple cross lines. The research was conducted at the Experimental Field of Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Indonesia. The study was designed with the concept of observation on 90 F4 multiple cross chili lines and three parental cultivars (Dewata F1, Bara and Ungara). Observations focused on 10 qualitative characters. The analysis showed that there are two types of diversity in this population, namely centralized diversity and distributed diversity. Centralized diversity consists of leaf color, book color, leaf shape, canopy density, stem color, fruit shape, and fruit tip shape. In contrast, characters that have a diverse distribution are crown color, young and old chili fruit color. The distribution results show three main groups, namely the Dewata -Bara group (27 genotypes), the Ungara group (16 genotypes) and the rest are groups outside of these two groups. Based on the whole study, the results of this evaluation are recommended as a consideration for the selection of F5 lines in supporting the direction of releasing chili cultivars from multiple cross. The development of cayenne pepper varieties can be optimized by multiple crossings, transgressive segregant selection based on the selection index, and identification of potential anthocyanins. The study objectives were (1) to develop a transgressive segregation index, and (2) to select transgressive segregation cayenne peppers with high productivity and anthocyanins from F3 multiple cross-generation. The study conducted two experiments at the experimental field, Hasanuddin University, from November 2022 to November 2023. The first experiment implemented an augmented design with a randomized complete block design (RCBD) as an environmental design. The genotypes as treatment consisted of two types: 110 lines of cayenne pepper were not repeated, and the 4 older chili varieties as controls were repeated in each block. All genotypes were categorized and divided into five blocks. The second experiment was the validation of the first trial. There were 13 genotypes tested with RCBD design one factor and repeated three times. Based on the study, developing a semiobjective-based selection index with canopy width, fruit weight, and yield was an innovative and effective approach to selecting F3 transgressive segregants of cayenne pepper. High-yielding transgressive lines were identified as G3-2-7-3, G2.6.9-10, G5-12-1-8, and G4.5.2-12. The G3-2-7-3 line was suggested due to its high yield potential and anthocyanin content. However, the anthocyanin content must be examined more deeply, such as using an omics approach. Nevertheless, these lines are still recommended to be continued in yield testing or crossing to produce hybrid lines that have high yield potential and anthocyanin content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Implementing a cropping intensity program with rice cultivation four times a year (CI 400) can be achieved using early maturing varieties of rice. However, this development needs to pay attention to the adaptability of the varieties planted to ensure successful implementation. The adaptability approach is a combination of assessing stability and productivity potential. This concept has been developed and applied in several studies, including research on rice. However, this approach is considered less comprehensive because it is nonparametric and only focuses on one stability analysis. Therefore, a systematic integration of various stability analyses, including index methods, is needed to comprehensively assess adaptability, particularly for early-maturing rice in South Sulawesi. This region is characterized by a dynamic climate zone and is one of the top four highest rice producers in Indonesia. Meanwhile, this study aims to develop a comprehensive adaptability index and select the best early-maturing rice varieties, especially in South Sulawesi. The investigation was conducted in Bone, Soppeng, and Gowa over two seasons using a nested randomized complete block design, with organized replications in each environment (location-season). Additionally, there was a significant focus on the application of five early-maturing and two check rice varieties, with each factor repeated three times at each location, totaling 126 experimental units. The results showed that the adaptability index, by combining stability rank accumulation with yield min max standardization, was effective at assessing the yield potential and stability of early-maturing rice varieties in supporting CI 400. Inpari 13 had the best index value at 0.55, followed by Cakrabuana at 0.31; hence both were recommended as adaptive early-maturing rice varieties, especially in South Sulawesi. Microplastics have been commonly found in wastewater, especially from laundry waste and wastewater treatment. Efforts to prevent microplastics in domestic washing activities are important so that microplastics can be removed from the source. The washing machine filters can collect most of the microplastic fibers before the water reaches the WWTP. The research carried out aimed to determine the effect of washing machine spin speed, operation time, and the intensity of repeated washing of textile materials on the microplastics released during the washing process as well as the influence of filter cloth porosity, operation time, and the intensity of repeated washing of textile materials on the filter cloth's ability in the filtering process of microplastic. There are three main stages in this research, the preparation stage, the research stage which consists of running the reactor to identify microplastics released during the washing process, running the reactor to determine the ability of the filter cloth to filter microplastics, and identifying microplastics. The data generated from the test is analyzed using a regression multiple linear. The results of identifying the amount of microplastic released from all samples had an average concentration of 281.24 particles/L and the average amount of microplastic filtered by the filter cloth was 78.8 mg/cycle. Spin speed, operation time, and washing repetition intensity simultaneously influence the released microplastics by 93.5%. Efficiency and effectiveness in controlling crossbreeding are pivotal in yielding superior hybrid varieties with desired traits such as genetic purity and high productivity. Cytoplasmic Male Sterile (CMS) is a crucial component in hybrid variety assembly. This study aims to identify the genotypes that can induce male sterile lines based on genetic diversity and the level of pollen sterility in the prospective male sterile genotypes tested, consisting of seventeen genotypes. The research findings revealed that the genetic diversity among the seventeen observed male-sterile candidate genotypes tends to vary in quantitative traits. Among the quantitative traits, JHD14 exhibited indications of being a male sterility inducer compared to the other genotypes observed, demonstrating a value of 0.00 g in terms of pollen weight. Rice-fish cultivation, also known as Manipadi in Indonesia, is one of the many integrated farming systems where fish are grown concurrently with rice. However, this integrated system needs to be optimized by organic fertilizer. The application of organic fertilizers, such as compost and local biofertilizers, when implemented into this integrated system, can optimize the yield per land for both rice and fish. However, this combination must be evaluated systematically by multiple evaluation criteria and statistical analyses. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the combination of compost doses and/or local liquid organic fertilizer concentrations, based on multiple evaluation criteria, that supports the productivity of rice-fish integration agriculture. The experiment was carried out in the Wanuae farmer group of the Barebbo District, Bone Regency, Indonesia, between September 2018 and January 2019. The experiment employed a split plot design with a randomized complete block design (RCBD). The main plot consisted of compost (four levels), and the subplot was the local biofertilizer source (four levels). The results demonstrated that the number of fill grains was significantly affected by the compost treatment and the type of local biofiller. The effect of the compost dosing was more dominant in comparison with the local liquid organic fertilizer character and its interactions. A compost dosage of four tons ha−1 and a local liquid organic fertilizer, sourced from soaked coconut fiber with cow urine, has been recommended as the combination treatment to optimize the rice and fish yield potential. The Minapadi (rice fish) with additional high composting effectively increased the farmer's outcome with a 2-point R/C ratio, more so than those without composting. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), widely known as a drone, proves very effective in assessing cropping or crop cultivation conditions. Using UAV to evaluate various corn cultivation technology systems is feasible when based on farmers' participation. UAV can generate the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) algorithm that reflects the greenness of leaves, a parameter related to photosynthesis and plant productivity. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate whether the farmer participation-based UAV-derived NDVI could be effectively used to assess and determine the appropriate corn cultivation technology. The research was conducted in Tarowang Village in Galesong Selatan District, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. A mother and baby trial system was employed: the mother trial used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with eight packages of corn cultivation technology implemented by the researchers, whereas the baby trial consisted of eight corn plots cultivated by farmers. In the latter, each farmer received one package of the cultivation technology. The results indicated that NDVI and yield could effectively evaluate corn cropping. Consistently good outcomes made three packages, i.e., P1, P4, and P5, recommended for corn cultivation, especially in the village observed. The aim of this study is to measure the performance of the top ten automobile manufacturers for the years 2011 to 2016. After evaluating the data from annual reports, only six manufacturers meet the requirements. The Malmquist productivity index (MPI) is used as the measurement of performance. The MPI consists of two elements: the technical efficiency change index (TECI) and the technological change index (TCI). The ‘productivity’ package in the open-source programming language known as ‘R’ is used to estimate the MPI, TCI, and TECI with input and output orientations. The results suggest that the productivity of the automobile industry increased during the period under evaluation. The average productivity scores for the top three manufacturers are as follows: Toyota (1.4844), Volkswagen (1.3382), and Mercedes-Benz (1.4444).However, there are still some industries whose productivity score is less than 1: Ford (0.9846), Honda (0.9925), and Nissan (0.9999). The newness of this study stems from the use of MPI in the global automobile industry, using R language, an open-source application for processing data.
