Abstract

The Amperometric Gas Sensor (AGS) uses an electrode as the transducer element which converts its signal into a current from the electrochemical reaction of analytes taking place at the electrode surface. Many attempts to improve AGS performance, such as modifying the working electrode, applying a particular gas-permeable membrane, and selecting the proper electrolyte, etc., have been reported in the scientific literature. On the other hand, in the materials community, atomic gold has gained much attention because its physicochemical properties dramatically differ from those of gold nanoparticles. This paper provides an overview of the use of atomic gold in AGSs, both in a bulky AGS and a miniaturized AGS. In the miniaturized AGS, the system must be redesigned; for example, the aqueous electrolyte commonly used in a bulky AGS cannot be used due to volatility and fluidity issues. A Room Temperature Ionic Liquid (RTIL) can be used to replace the aqueous electrolyte since it has negligible vapor pressure; thus, a thin film of RTIL can be realized in a miniaturized AGS. In this paper, we also explain the possibility of using RTIL for a miniaturized AGS by incorporating a quartz crystal microbalance sensor. Several RTILs coated onto modified electrodes used for isomeric gas measurement are presented. Based on the results, the bulky and miniaturized AGS with atomic gold exhibited a higher sensor response than the AGS without atomic gold. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic has spread massively to almost all countries including Indonesia, in just a few months. An important step to overcoming the spread of the COVID-19 is understanding its epidemiology through mathematical modeling intervention. Knowledge of epidemic dynamics patterns is an important part of making timely decisions and preparing hospitals for the outbreak peak. In this study, we developed the susceptible-infected-recovered-dead (SIRD) model, which incorporates the key epidemiological parameters to model and estimate the long-term spread of the COVID-19. The proposed model formulation is data-based analysis using public COVID-19 data from March 2, 2020 to May 15, 2021. Based on numerical analysis, the spread of the pandemic will begin to fade out after November 5, 2021. As a consequence of this virus attack, the cumulative number of infected, recovered, and dead people were estimated at ≈ 3,200,000, ≈ 3,437,000 and ≈ 63,000 people, respectively. Besides, the key epidemiological parameter indicates that the average reproduction number value of COVID-19 in Indonesia is 7.32. The long-term prediction of COVID-19 in Indonesia and its epidemiology can be well described using the SIRD model. The model can be applied in specific regions or cities in understanding the epidemic pattern of COVID-19.

10. Comparison study using ARIMAX and VARX in cash flow forecasting.

Abstract

The economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has made it difficult to achieve sustainable economic growth, which is one of the sustainable development goals. The great pressure on the economic sector caused most companies, including the banking sector, to experience cash flow problems. The ability to maintain a balance of cash flows during the pandemic is key for the banking sector to survive. It is very important to do a study that is able to create a model to forecast the value of cash flows in the banking sector. By having a model that is able to accurately predict the value of cash flows, the problem of cash flow difficulties can be avoided early on. In this case, the banking cash flows consist of the value of cash in to the office, the value of cash out of the office, the value of cash inflows from the e-channel, and the value of cash out of the e-channel at a bank in Indonesia. In addition, modeling is carried out by taking into account the effects of daily and holiday effects as exogenous variables. The results showed that two variables had a significant effect on the value of office cash flows. Meanwhile, the value of e-channel cash flow is only influenced by daily effects. By comparing the accuracy of the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average with Exogenous Variable (ARIMAX) method and the Vector Autoregressive with Exogenous Variable (VARX) models, it is found that the value of cash in office, cash out of office, and cash out of e-channel provide predictive value which is more accurate with the ARIMAX model. On the other hand, the VARX model is more suitable for predicting the value of e-channel cash inflows. Thus, predictions of the value of bank cash flows can be made so that existing policies can be adjusted to support the banking sector in maintaining cash flow balance during the Covid-19 pandemic.
